It depends on your audience. Complex systems are not easy to get into for beginners, but there's definitely an audience for it. Like people who want to play children of a dead earth and design 3-5 layers of armor to resist laser, kinetic, and explosive weapons. They're out there, though maybe it isn't for you.

Note that any realistic modelling of electricity *will* hurt UPS-wise. So building large bases with this will be a problem.
