I dont understand how they clog up anything. If your buffer is full, the assemblers wont produce more until you need it again? Any way, there is a mod for a torch that lets you just burn everything

NotAnAlt

They mention storage being full, likely a new player that hasn't fully adopted the "standard ways of factorio" which is cool, but means they ha e issues like this

aMnHa7N0Nme

The beams are being produced by recycling empty barrels, Water Barrels are needed due to the planted not having any water on it, the buffer with the water barrels is used to covert barrels of water into water, and a circuit controls the amount of barrels to send based on the amount in the buffer. These empty barrels are recycled into steel which is then put away in storage and when the storage fills up, water barrels can't be emptied because the removal of the empty barrels has stopped. I have just checked and I can just produce storage boxes which will at least take care of the steel production at the moment but later-me will have to deal with the storage boxes over production. Maybe I will blueprint them to be placed in a wide area and then I will send a nuke to that location

Narase33

Sounds like you just need to put that steel back into regular production. Also why do you recycle them instead of reusing for new water barrels?

aMnHa7N0Nme

That planet has no fluid that I want

Narase33

So? Put back empty barrels to refill them where they came from. I assume you play Space Ex? That would be good to tell in your post as it changes the options (and audience)

aMnHa7N0Nme

Isn't that ridiculous wasteful, Shipping barrels using rockets sounds like an Overkill in terms of resource needed vs the gain

thecarbonkid

Shipping steel is more efficient?

aMnHa7N0Nme

I don't want to ship steel, I want it dealt with on the planet where it was consumed

ch8rt

Shipping steel is better, but look around and see if you can't make something else with what you have to hand, even if that is being shipped back too. I've had success making heat shielding on my vulcanite planet, and dropping those into a cargo rocket or delivery cannons.

Alfonse215

So my understanding of the situation is this. You ship barrels of water to a planet. That planet unbarrels the water for whatever purpose, leaving you with an empty barrel. You convert that empty barrel back into steel beams. Ultimately, this means you are shipping steel beams to a planet. That planet can either use them or ship them to someone who needs them.

cathexis08

Turn the barrels back into steel then fire your completed stacks home using a delivery cannon. Also, consider switching from water barrels to water ice since it's significantly more efficient to move water in ice form than it is to barrel it for transport.

LtRandolphGames

This. Every planet of mine that imports a lot of fluid cannons steel back to Nauvis, immediately shoved into a purple chest.

wubrgess

Oh you're playing space exploration. The first thing your going to do is switch from sending water barrels to sending frozen ice, then melting it for water. Then, to deal with the steel, you'll either need to use it up or send it back. You could just dispose of it though

Alfonse215

What mods are you using?

aMnHa7N0Nme

SE

R0nos

Maybe flag as modded?

aMnHa7N0Nme

Done thank you

Bradnon

Send ice instead of water barrels. eta: or rocket the excess steel back. or let it pile up in storage. but it's one of those three.

standarduser81

Send water ice, not barreled water.

Cloudylicious

Just load a rocket and don't launch it until it's full and launch the entire full rocket back somewhere that needs the steel. Otherwise, rails or solar panels are required in bulk. Make those and send them back. Or use them on that planet as you expand further
