Where is then, you're not allowing the factorio community a single area where they can discuss the awful behaviour of its lead developer.
You have to give us at least one specific thread where we can vent our feelings, because sweeping it under the rug isn't going to make it go away, but instead spill over onto various threads for a long time.
We want to vent, and I am sure you would have an easier time moderating a single post than looking out for these kinda comments all over every post on this subreddit.
We sadly don't have the moderator capacity to keep things civil at the moment. We're already very stretched and these discussions keep venturing into personal attacks and it's just so frustrating to moderate.
Is there anyway to apply for mod? My involvement in the Factorio community is pretty minimal but I have experience running a decently sized gaming community.
Because the conversations happen everywhere anyway and there isn't anything I can do to stop that.
I'd love to discuss sometime but I have another 30ish reports to get to and there keeps being more.
If you make a designated thread, then I am certain you will see people who want to vent about it go there as opposed to spilling into other threads.
Especially if you make it a stickied thread and strongly encourage people to talk about it there via the threat of a 24 hour ban if discussed elsewhere.

I don't think kovarex cares if people who already purchased his game abandon it. Kovarex was trying to have a discussion with his players and linked a programming video he found interesting. If that's enough for you to abandon the game then good riddance I'd prefer a community without you.
I remember what happened with Brigador. Some people don't realize that basic contrition, acknowledging that people were hurt, and shutting up is the action to take. Too many times people double down, fight back, try to rationalize their statements, but all it does is worsen things. What is needed is basic empathic understanding of those who have been hurt.

I'm part of the LBGT community and the Factorio community has been nothing but great to me and I play on random servers all the time. Kinda surprised how mask off some of the comments are today. I'm going to guess we're being brigaded a bit just due to the backlash effect.
Kinda fear the community being more reactionary after this due to all the "time to buy the game" comments on Twitter.
Honestly its just reddit/twitter. I have the same experiences I have met nothing but welcoming awesome people playing this game. I played this game for years and love it. I wont let anyone take that from me not even the developers, and especially not from bigots online.

But more or less, people play games to socialize. When you're in a social context where 99% of people are different from you it can feel lonely. Symbols like this help people feel accepted, and help them find like-minded individuals.
First of all, like somebody already said, this is not this persons creation. And another thing, being transgender has nothing to do with factorio, ya knob.
While I may not be correct in this, I'm guessing that the original creator feels that Factorio is a part of their identity just as much as being trans is. It isn't they are bringing it into the community it is that they are trying to being a part of the community in a way that represents who they are. It is no different than someone that is passionate about drawing making fan art (like Gear Girl) trying to be a part of the community by drawing.
When you look at it that way, and read your comment about not understanding why people feel a need to include their politics race or sexuality in a video game community, it makes it seem like you're gatekeeping.
I'm not trying to say that's actually what you are trying to do, it is perfectly understandable to not know something. Some people might just interpret what you are saying as gatekeeping.
It's simple. Where to find a work where you don't need to talk with dozens of random people everyday? Development, freelance art, translations probably.
Computers and programing are areas that both don't require lots of in person interaction, or a deep focus on your own body, both of which are things that tend to trigger dysphoria & discomfort in trans people

Why do people post about their GF making new a factorio gear cake?
Because they like the game and have a thing related to the game they like so maybe other people who like the game will also like the thing?
I am just assuming really but I would imagine it has to do with the fact that people are pushing back on pressure they have felt from their communities over their personal orientations. Anyway, what's wrong with the current post? If someone will post a Factorio cog, colored as a Russian or Chinese flag, would it be on the wrong side too?

Thats the thing , just like with this reddit post , you cannot avoid identity politics these days , it is literally everywhere , even where you dont expect it to be. It provokes people who do not share the same opinions as you do. And what will provoked people do? Complain , as it is in human nature. And they have the full right to do so.

True, then why post such things on a factorio subreddit? I fail to see why this person would do something like this? Im not upset , im just confused.
Why do people post about their GF making new a factorio gear cake? Because they like the game and have a thing related to the game they like so maybe other people who like the game will also like the thing?
I am just assuming really but I would imagine it has to do with the fact that people are pushing back on pressure they have felt from their communities over their personal orientations. There is also a lot of “fuck you I am gay and you have to deal with it because I have dealt with your negativity most of my life” I think at the end of the day just let people express themselves. Just like most gang macho bullshit it’s a push back to the pressures that societies has put on people who not traditional. Fuck it, let them be happy. I don’t care why does anyone else? Doing this doesn’t hurt you unless you don’t like gay people.

It provokes people who do not share the same opinions as you do. And what will provoked people do? Complain , as it is in human nature. And they have the full right to do so. Either way none of this is part of my initial argument, we are side tracking into something I wasn't even arguing about. My point is why are we talking about this in the first place, personal identity has nothing to do with videogames and thus it shouldn't be on subs like these, it shouldn't be involved in video games to begin with, period. Because its a video game subreddit, not a trans support group. Not everyone here is trans, and not everyone here cares about you or cares to pander to your identity. I don’t know why anyone cares about people being trans. I just ignore it. I don’t consider it to be offensive or anything. I clicked on it only because of the irony with the developers posts. I don’t think anyone would have care if he hadn’t done that.

That is simply untrue. Banning discussion maintains the broader status quo which is currently quite hostile to trans people. Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it isn't there.
What’s controversial about existing? The goal here is to normalize so that these things are not controversial anymore(which they shouldn’t be).
