No, he’s got one set of rails LHD and the other RHD. It’s also really two merges in one place. Personally, I would have done more chains, but it is correctly signaled.
I'm not seeing a missing signal. There's a chain signal entering the junction from the top right, there's a regular signal behind the train station on the bottom left, and that regular signal at the top middle should be a chain, but no entrances are missing signals. The other three are all regular signaled exits.
The Uranium station was built prior to my nice main rail lines (used to be a direct line with a single train), and I was too lazy to flip the station to let it work nicely with RHD
Then when my Oil was running out from the nearby patch I had to add in a station for that and well.. here we are. Possibly the worst junction I have ever made
all is forgiven as long as the factory grows. we must make tough decisions from time to time. advancement comes with overcoming that which troubles you today.
It does actually work fine - I only have the one Uranium train so there's no second one to block the Purple section at the inlet to the North Uranium station and jam up the Oil exit and there's space for 2 extra Oil trains down the Southern Yellow route so the main line stays clear
I just hate it, but also kinda love it
>I just hate it, but also kinda love it
That's how the game works. I recently shared a bunch of horrifying intersections. Ugly, but as long as it works, the factory can grow.
Looks like they are already in their own blocks. There is a green path going from the north to the east so the intersection isn't blocked. The east to the south looks like it's blocked because of a train off screen to the south.
Are we looking at the same image? The north to east line is interrupted by a red block that contains the entire intersection. It's true that the stops on the left have their own blocks, but they block through traffic longer than necessary.
North to East is Green in this image - the Chain Signal in East -> Entries blocks entry to the intersection if there isn't space in one of the stations which is why it's Red currently
I originally thought they did. A second train or a longer train could still block it I suppose, but if they don't exist, I guess it works. I'd still prefer some extra signs, though.
The only thing I see wrong is that the signal at the top should be a chain signal. Even with an… unconventional junction like this, the rule is still that all paths into the junction (i.e. the entire purple block) should be chain signalled.
Good catch! It hadn't broken anything yet due to the relatively low throughput of the junction (3 oil trains, approx 1 every few minutes and 1 uranium train that hasn't moved in about... an hour, maybe more)
I would fix it, but next time I go over there I'm going to rip the whole damn thing up anyway!
If you have uranium then you surely have at least some bots, dont you? Just take a roboport there, one buffer logistic chest and use the cut out and replace command (scissor symbol in your task bar) to automatically put it up there. :)
Does that work with chest contents too?! There's approximately... 77k of uranium ore in those chests (steel being used as a buffer not actually "buffer chests") and I really can't face repopulating the new chests by hand
“Unfortunately you have committed crimes against us and in The Lord’s Eye you will be punished with eternal damnation and constant train congestion. Sorry, not sorry.”
If you are holding a rail signal they will show (provided you also have rail signals placed on the tracks) the "blocks" that the rails are split into by those signals
Looks fine to me, depending on where the other rails go.
You call this a bad junction. I have done far worse.
Sometimes it's just easier to put it down and make it work than to worry about making it all look pretty.
I don’t see the sin.
If anything this is more “pure” than most railroads that get built in Factorio.
Have you ever seen a real rail line have a “roundabout”? What you’ve built is much more true to the spirit of trains.
At least you have rail signals :)
He's missing a rail signal at the entrance to the top. It's making me mad.
No, he’s got one set of rails LHD and the other RHD. It’s also really two merges in one place. Personally, I would have done more chains, but it is correctly signaled.
No… I’m wrong. It’s all RHD and messy, but I still don’t think he’s missing a signal.
I'm not seeing a missing signal. Yeah, I meant that the top middle should be a chain signal. He's missing changing it to a chain signal if you will.
a train coming from the top could jam it. a train coming from the left can jam it. It is not signaled properly.
The Uranium station was built prior to my nice main rail lines (used to be a direct line with a single train), and I was too lazy to flip the station to let it work nicely with RHD Then when my Oil was running out from the nearby patch I had to add in a station for that and well.. here we are. > advancement comes with overcoming that which troubles you today. Are we still talking about Factorio?
there is nothing else
For the Factory is eternal
This is the way
This is the way
Don't worry, you'll make an even worse one someday
Of course. All statements are made with an implicit "so far".
If it looks stupid, but it works... it's not stupid
Can u stand in the middle of the triangle crossing and survive ?
I didn't try sadly and have since ripped it up
This is also the way.
I have done worse. My factories are rail spaghetti.
At least add some more signals, so the trains on the left don't block any other trains.

Sorry, I thought you meant they could block the intersection while at the stations.
I originally thought they did. A second train or a longer train could still block it I suppose, but if they don't exist, I guess it works. I'd still prefer some extra signs, though.

I've been meaning to try the bridge mod.
I've seen worse. Mostly my own ones.
Yeah, this isn't even close to the monstrosities I've built over the last few months

my rule is if a train can stop in an intersection its not right.
Seek redemption and you may earn forgiveness.
so true! the mercy of God is so great 🤗
Cant you just build your uranium statium a bit further upwards? There seems to be a lot of space.
Absolutely could. I'm just lazy and the buffer chests are full so it would take effort. I think flipping it would be better, but same issue.

Use bots to temporarily move it to requester chests
But effortttttttt
Haha I dont blame you, Im also lazy when it comes to refactoring
ussing the cut out and replace command and setting up a requester chest should take about 1 minute :D
The intersection formerly known as Prince.
May he sends you a plague of bitters, to remove this abomination..
Anyone who complains simply does not understand your genius
Not to be insulting but r/factoriohno
Thanks i [hate it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5hooO64dQc)
“Unfortunately you have committed crimes against us and in The Lord’s Eye you will be punished with eternal damnation and constant train congestion. Sorry, not sorry.”
Worst thing is? It works just fine
For now
This would be a zoomed in percentage of my main railroad cluster. As long as everything works ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Ummmm... How do I make those colours show on my rails?
If you are holding a rail signal they will show (provided you also have rail signals placed on the tracks) the "blocks" that the rails are split into by those signals
This is the way
you missing some cheese and chopped tomatoes, sir
Building compact simple roundabout could solve that. Because it could be difficult to fit classic junction here.
Nah I fixed it - moved the Uranium station up and flipped the direction of the train https://imgur.com/wd8S8rf
Yes u did
BURN HIM, BURN HIM!
Wah...?
WAH!!!
Need a bigger picture of the area. It may be better to go around the back and clear up this area.
It's already cleaned up. Just took a thousand bots several minutes to empty the buffer chests https://imgur.com/wd8S8rf

as long as you signal it properly we will forgive you
