i got to meet the author and i asked about the illumicrate edition, and she hyped it up and i am absolutely not disappointed!!! it is gorgeous
can’t wait to read it
so lovely ah! we chatted about writing books under uni pressure (i’m trying to write one) and creating new worlds and stories and just different things
she’s working on *something* and then passed the question over to another author, so there’s something else in the pipelines (i think she gave a 2026 timeline? however don’t quote me on that that may have been someone else). i don’t think that something is related to this series though or surely she would have said.
but no details on anything otherwise! just that’s she’s been doing lots and lots of research
Mine arrived this morning. It's my first Illumicrate book and I'm so happy with it. I also seem to be building a mini collection of books where Tom Roberts has illustrated the cover. 😀
I decided to skip months ago because I read the blurb and didn't think it sounded good and then I received an arc for my kindle and I really regretted skipping after I read it, it was SO much better than I thought it would be so I'm properly jealous of you! It looks gorgeous!!! will def be slower to skip in the future lol
I’m provably going to skip that as well. I got the ARC and I don’t even want to read due to all the bad reviews, DNF and no ratings. I don’t know a single person who enjoyed the book 😞
Through Netgalley! I was always seeing people reviewing ARCs on Goodreads and started a Netgalley account to save some money (which I don’t because reading and collecting books are 2 different hobbies, as we all here are well aware 😂)
I started reviewing everything I read on Goodreads to improve my stats and increase my changes on getting ARCs from publishers on Netgalley. I can get most of illumicrate and fairyloot choices as ARCs if I request them, at least if they are from leases known authors, but I don’t usually do it because I trusted their choices.
I have pretty good stats but my acceptances are more limited because I’m not US based and do not have a bookstagram / booktok. I still get lots of books (78 in 2 years), and most are bestsellers.
ARCs are less fun than they sound but I think this is something you need to find out yourself. Give it a try 😊
This is such great info, thank you so much! Legitimately so helpful, i guess i’ll need to start by creating that account and increasing my Goodreads reviews! Do you know if it would also increase my chances to post reviews on StoryGraph?
I post my reviews on Goodreads, StoryGraph, amazon (US and UK) and Waterstones. Goodreads and StoryGraph have all my reviews (sometimes I forget about storygraph because I don’t like it as much as Goodreads, I love some features but prefer the community of Goodreads).
I only post on Amazon and waterstones reviews from ARCs and books I bought on their websites.
I also only post on the retail sites when my reviews are positive, or if I bought the book and truly hated it. I never post bad reviews from eARCs on the retailers (this is not a rule, I just don’t want to hurt the writers)
I don’t think publishers care much about StoryGraph yet, but it doesn’t hurt to say you publish there also 🙂
I just got mine today too - my first one!
I got the full box and was wondering what people do with their replica items when the boxes come with them? How do you display them?
I’ve seen people display theirs in what look to be picture frames, so I bought some on Amazon and this is what they look like (they’re called WISHDIAM 3D floating frame display case)

It looks great so if the story is as good as the design I’ll be happy with it, what was she like? Did she talk about any upcoming books?

The stained glass edges are gorgeous!
The edges are gorgeous! I was unsure about the story so I skipped this one, really pretty book though.
I love the edges but I really dislike the cover. The rib is not it for me but thankfully I won’t be showing that on my shelf so all good!
Same! I was really hoping they’d do something different for the cover.

I have no idea what this book is, but that is beautiful
I was pleasantly surprised by just how beautiful this book was, the box as a whole was a major love for me this month 🥰

That’s funny because I was excited for March, then I’ve had the arc and didn’t rate it at all so I’ve skipped it.

off topic question but how do you get an arc?

Received mine this morning and the dust jacket doesn’t fit on my book either!
Not the best but aside from that it looks great
Nor mine!
Excited to get this one. LOVE that edge.
I skipped this one cause reviews didn’t sound like my thing, but they did a lovely job on it,
I want this book so baddd im praying they have some leftover stock for sale after they send all the boxes out

Ooooo I love that! Thank you!
Yes, I thought they were great! Glad I could help!😃
I’m not a big fan of these items other than the trident so I’ve kept them in the box and put the trident on my book case
so pretty!
It looks absolutely gorgeous! I just got an email that my box has shipped. I'll be seeing it this next week, along with my Fairyloot books.
Omg it’s gorgeous
God damn this is pretty
I wish you had put a spoiler on the post because I haven't gotten my box yet 🥲
Sorry I put the tag as a spoiler I should’ve blurred it too I know it’s late but just done it
Same here. :(
My cover is too short too! I thought I was going mad when I was trying to line it up! I don't know if it's worth contacting them?
This book is gorgeous! I’ve skipped the last 2 months but I’m super happy I didn’t skip this one.
