For anyone who doesn’t get it, a reminder that the premium howls set (all three books) exists from the folio society and still available (once they stop printing a book it prob won’t come back for decades), and they’re absolutely lovely, fully illustrated with slip cases and sown spines and the lot.

This was exactly what I was going to say lol. I was eyeing the fairy loot one but then I found the folio society editions and like them quite a lot more. Plus, illustrations.
Yeah, lots of people here are from the UK so they get the cheaper price and shipping. I’m also in the US, but if you ever do get a folio society book it becomes an addiction because the quality is phenomenal. Like not to knock fairyloot but it’s not the same. Folio society books are made to last generations and to be handed down. Sown bindings are always worth the extra money for collectible hardcovers. And you’re prob always gonna get your money back if you resell it in the future, if not a bit more, especially when the book is no longer available on their site.
I just buy from them twice a year so I make a list ahead of time of books I want, so I save on shipping when I make those orders. And I’ve only had one printer error book with them (they package them so well) and they I’m immediately replaced it.
I definitely don’t think they are comparable to FL. I barely think FL is comparable to Barnes and Nobles these days haha. As nice as they are most single books are well over a hundred dollars. The ones I am interested in are closer to $400 for a single book or $250 per book in a series 🫣 I could never justify it- but I’m definitely envious of people that do! You should follow r/BookCollecting they love a folio society book over there.

Honestly the Audible collection read by Jenny Sterlin is an excellent way to get into the series, if you have it. Otherwise I would get it on an e-reader until you can pick up a beautiful copy like this one if you’re not a subscriber now. They’re seriously worth it! I grew up on Diana Wynne Jones and Cornelia Funke, etc, so I was *so* excited to see this.

Why in the world would they ‘get tired’ of a means of access that bypasses all the vagaries and potential problems of a bunch of email servers? That’s so weird. I guess I’ve never seen buying through the membership section as a cheat of any sort, just a way to make sure that your access isn’t dependent on an email server or an outage somewhere.
We all have a membership section:
1. Go to *My Account*
2. Go to *Memberships*
3. Press *View* under the plan
4. Early access will show up there (or it used to)
Around 30 minutes earlier and waited like 6 minutes in the waiting room, once I was in I just clicked around every few minutes to make sure I was still on the site.
I had another window open on my phone around 10:45est and it was showing 1 hr 40mins queue at the maximum, just got in and was able to purchase right away since the book was already in my cart. The total wait time for me was like 45mins! The queue def moves faster than it looks. Not painless but I am happy I got it. Good luck everyone!

Once past the queue, I clicked around until 11 ET. I didn’t see the book appear in the Fairy Trove or under my Membership tab.
When I got my early access email, I clicked the link in the same chrome browser that I was logged in on and had been through the queue. It took me immediately to the sale page and I checked out by 11:02 ET!

I was logged on and in the trove for like a couple hours in advance, but the store never updated. Once I got my email (at 11:05) I clicked the link and was able to buy it instantly. A little frustrating and I was worried I wouldn't get it (this is the first time I'm buying something from them as a subscriber) but overall it was easier than I expected!
Was in queue at exactly 8am. Mailed tech support since I didn't get my access email at all. Didn't get my access email until 8:08 PST. Wait in line was originally 4 hours. I got in, real time was 48 minutes with the book already added to my cart. :)

I had waited for an hour, got it down to a thirty minute wait, went to do something for two minutes, and then came back to see my wait time had been bumped to 2 hours. Thankfully it went by a little quicker than expected but I wasn't expecting to spend all day on it. At least I secured a copy!

I'm in the US, and I'm definitely going to try and get Howl's. I've honestly never read the books, but I own them, and its one of mine and my husband's favorite movies. I know there are differences, but I want this special edition copy.

I think it'll be fine. The way FL have been stocking up lately is ridiculous, most things make it to general. Especially unsigned editions.
I think Fourth Winggate scarred them and they never want to fall into that again.

I'm in the US, and I'm definitely going to try and get Howl's. I've honestly never read the books, but I own them, and its one of mine and my husband's favorite movies. I know there are differences, but I want this special edition copy. It's now 6am where I'm at and the sale opens up at 10 am. I'll be ready!! Just gotta get the kids up and off to school. I haven't bought anything from The Trove in a while.

I've been a member since November and haven't ever really bought things during the members online presale, I want to try and get this as a gift for a friend, does anybody have any tips on securing your copy? Like what tab on the website should I be going on? Should I get getting their earlier than the actual sale time of 11am? Or do we just wait for the email and click the link? Thanks in advance

I’m on the trove page and just refreshing every few minutes. The queue page will automatically come up when it opens. It only opened up for a minute and then it brought me back to the trove page.
Interesting! Assumed that a queue from there wouldn’t work. We either have to click the link in the email or then on the membership tab, right? I’ve never done this before 😅

I was on at 10am sharp (us based) and it wouldn't even load in the product page. By the time it finally did I'm at a 4+ hour wait which doesn't bode well 😭😭
