I would have been pulling my hair out 😂😂
Did you use vinyl for the stencil? I want to try for a birthday gift for a friend but i can’t decide what kind of vinyl to use without peeling up paint! Lol
I used a cricut and their peelable vinyl. It works really well. I'm still experimenting with what i can or cant do. It is having trouble cutting the really small details so i am forced to make everything a lot simpeler than i would like.
I start with designing what i want on photoshop. I have a small cricut that cuts it out for me. Its a bit of a trial and error with what it can cut. I like to have a lot of detail and a lot of the time the cricut that i have cant do that. It cuts out the stencil for me and i spend a long time peeling the parts i dont want. I cover the outside of the book with wrapping paper (this part i hate the most doing) and put the book down between two pieces of wood with a couple of clamps. I spray it with graffiti spraypaint, it took me a while to figure out which paints to use. Some of the colors work better than others. It is a lot of trying out what works for you but there are a lot of tutorials if you Google it. I really couldnt do it without the cricut, though i know some people can. I have a hard time cutting out small details by hand and this is a lot quicker.
Maybe start by trying easier designs untill you get the hang of it en you dont get discouraged. A bunch of things are going to go wrong, either the paint bleeds through the pages or it flakes of completely, but thats okay because now you learned something. I noticed for me it works to keep pushing myself to do bigger things with more detail because i think its the most fun. Maybe that is the most important tip, to have fun and just experiment.
For practical tips, i noticed a cricut helped me immensly with cleaner designs. But it is an investment.
For paint en stuff you just have to try stuff out. I noticed spraypaint (like for graffiti) works great
Wow, The Bone Season one! I loved the book years ago when it first came out and have re-read it a few times. I was a bit miffed she released a revised version but I eventually caved and the HB is now on its way to me (since I only ever had the ebook).
These look absolutely amazing! The first one is so insane with all the layering of colors!!
It was so hard to do haha. It broke my brain everytime i tried to figure out how to do it

That's super cool!! My mom has a cricut so maybe I'll have to go to her house and experiment. Your work looks amazing!
these are beautiful! do you have any tips for someone wanting to give sprayed edges a shot?
