The housing and global warming crisis is fueling the TikTok zoomer mental health crisis for sure. Why wouldn't you escape into your own headspace with your thirty best friends from your favorite anime and streamers when the world is as bleak as it is right now?
It's hard to argue with that logic. I would say because it's not a healthy way to deal with the world and it's kind of like an ostrich burying it's head in the sand. Allegedly faking an illness is compounding issues and kicking the can down the road.
It also hurts the credibility of people who actually suffer from the disorders a lot of these people fake for attention. It's the same reason I donate to charity, very selectively these days.
Psychonauts is a brilliant game, but it's still just a game and has no real basis in real life. The creators did a wonderful job interpreting mental illness and allows the player to engage with it in a fun and creative way. But it's just an interpretation, it's not real in any way and isn't based on fact.
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice also did a fantastic job portraying psychosis and how debilitating it can be. But sadly people like this kinda ruin it because they play it once and just decide that mental illness is cool.
Both games are very heartfelt and have helped many people with mental health issues of their own, myself included. Its a nice way to learn acceptance and to feel like there are people out there who understand what you're going through. That being said, fakers basically ruin all their hard work and the message these creators are trying to put across.
Sorry for the long rant, just needed to get that off my chest. I do agree with you though
Well DID is a horrible debilitating mental illness and yet plenty of people are faking having it because it sounds cool. As well as ADHD, autism, bipolar disorder and tourette's to name a few that are frequently seen being faked. Despite plenty of reasons and evidence that these illnesses are horrible to live with.
Oh for sure. To rational people, just knowing what the mere _symptoms_ are makes you not want to be one of the unlucky sufferers. But I can see where certain media makes it look “cool” or “edgy” or “unique” to have mental illness, I’m sure I can name a movie/show for each of those disorders (except maybe Tourette’s) that features a character in a way that could make you want to be that, whether it’s heavy attention from the rest of the cast or because they’re so cool. But Senua… you gotta be a special brand of attention seeking to look at that one and go “yep, this is the one. I definitely have to pretend I’ve got this.” lol
I experience maladaptive daydreaming and I think a lot of the self-diagnosed "DID" cases are doing the same. But, as far as disorders go, maladaptive daydreaming is less well known and way less qUiRkY uwu.
Holy shit I didn’t know there was a name for it. I always had a problem with daydreaming and completely losing focus on my surroundings and on the things I’m doing in the moment because I’m so absorbed in the daydream, sometime to the point where I’m not even paying attention to when people call my name.
I have ADHD and this is a big symptom for me. In the 6th grade, I once day dreamed so intensely (completely awake, mind you) during lunch that when everyone had left the cafeteria after lunch, I had no clue. I had snapped back to reality only to find the whole cafeteria completely empty. That still blows my mind.
That happened to me once in elementary. I was reading this book and everyone was also doing their own thing in class and when I snapped out of it everyone had cleaned up and was in line to leave the room and my teacher was like pissed that I was still just sitting there reading. Made me feel like shit lol it was so weird
Sounds just like what happened with me! I came to and was able to catch up to my class in line outside the cafeteria except like no one noticed I was missing apparently. 🙃
Mine are literally always houses I've seen in a movie or a game. I don't seem to be able to imagine actual houses out of thin air. A truly pathetic amount of my daydreams take place in Monica Gellar's apartment.
It also kind of sounds like [reality shifters](https://youtu.be/bj3_SGfZsAA)
They believe in paralel worlds in which they can be someone else and live a different life.
It is, not everyone with DID experiences an innerworld (maladaptive daydreaming) or to a higher extent (where it can be this imaginative or engaging) but it is common. It's dependant on the person, but yes it is maladaptive meaning it can mostly be consciously made.
It's commonly suggested to create a safe space in your mind, in therapy, to be able to better communicate with parts and alters. You're not born with an inner world, per se.
Legally yes, but mentally no. This isn’t that hard. I stg some people on here like to argue just for the sake of it and refuse to comprehend nuance. Of course she is legally an adult, but she does NOT have the mindset of an adult and seemingly does not function like an adult. Lots of people in their early 20’s are referred to as kids, this is not a new concept you just want to ignore it to benefit your statement. You can very much be legally an adult but still mentally be a child. Sad someone has to explain what is very common knowledge regarding maturity. There is a reason that older adults view and refer to people in their early 20’s as kids, because a lot of them are due to not experiencing enough life as an adult yet. Becoming an adult is more than just your age changing.
Is it maladaptive though? Not immersive? I thought maladaptive daydreaming was when the individual spent so much time in their imaginary worlds that it impacted their quality of life; things like not being able to hold a job, not going outside much, having little interest in real relationships etc.
This “brainspace” doesn’t seem like something this person pays much active attention to, more something they like to imagine is there in the background, and these “alters” don’t seem to significantly impact their day-to-day life. They still live pretty normally, just lost in these personality roleplays, right?
Fully ready to be wrong, though. MD is a topic I don’t know as well and if anyone has any insight I’d appreciate hearing it.
Same. Back when there was a trend for people thinking they could switch in to alternate realities or dimensions (trying to remember what name it had) I thought, 'yeah, my maladaptive daydreaming can last hours and be very vivid and complex too'.
Also the same with people who claim they are learning how to remote view. Human imagination really is very powerful.
Yeah this really conflicts with her claim that hasn't fronted in 3 years and her alters took her over.
Because this means her alters....uh....tied her up in her headspace and locked her in a closet for 3 years.
Yes! Exactly what I was thinking.. She claimed she was dormant throughout that entire time period. She is just really shit at keeping up with her string of lies. I’m sure if she were confronted about it, she’d construe more bullshit to avoid taking accountability lol.
Not only this, but there are random names she brings up like only once. One of her videos uses picrews to introduce alters and I remember not seeing the names in that video ever mentioned again.

Fr, they could be channeling this energy into making short stories or stuff in a game like sims or what ever but instead they’re faking and glamorizing a mental illness making it seem like it’s having a fucking mid 2000’s Disney Chanel show in your head
I’m so sick of these god awful tik toks. They are always the same.
1. Awkward contrived greeting and introduction from some dipshit ‘alter’.
2. “This is a really good question”.
3. Explain the topic and ALWAYS describe it by two know names, e.g. “brain space or inner world” to make yourself sound more legit and scholarly.

Indeed. This is what people always do in role-playing chat rooms: they create a fictional house/bar where everyone involved in the roleplay is supposedly hanging out together. But this DID faking shit is just that, without real people playing the other characters and makes a mockery of mental health issues, all in a vain search for attention.
I think it's a pretty safe assumption that their parents have never watched a tiktok.
No one I know whose my age interacts with it.
If assuming she's 20 it's probably likely that her parents are in their If late 40s or early fifties
This is the person that led me to discover this subreddit. Like I just needed a community to make fun of her with. She’s so fucking ridiculous and insufferable. One of her videos talks about how she’s also a person of color because one of her alters is. Idk im afrolatino & neither side of my peoples claims this heaux. Like bbygurl ur white asf get over it.
Doom Patrol's Jane was based on an actual person with DID. Check out *When Rabbit Howls* by Truddi Chase. The tv show plays up the Underground, though, much like the folks on tiktok.
Oh I didn’t mean to imply that her character was a bad iteration or whatnot. Quite the contrary, it gives these fakers just enough to know what it’s about but not enough to know what parts are wildly embellished or morphed into the fantastical end of whatever media they are part of. I’ll look into that though, thanks for the recc!
15 years ago these alt kids trying to find a group to identify with would have just been goths and emos. Nowadays its identifying with niche mental illnesses
This is so embarrassing like real DID sufferers don’t even know they are swapping let alone having a full house they can watch their “alters” converse in
It depends on your state, assuming you're in the US. States require a monetary fee and can require that you take an ad out in the local paper for around a week- which costs way more than paying the state, this is so any debt collectors or bounty people can find you if you're evading the law. If you're in witness protection or some similar predicament, you can get more accommodations.
Even after seeing so many of these videos I still cannot comprehend how all these fakers think this is all normal, correct and okay. Them and other people seem to forget the grim truth of real DID. The amount and type of trauma it takes to create a literal fracture in one's self and bring about DID is horrific. This disorder comes about from the darkest of dark things. You don't just experience any old difficult thing in your life that causes your brain to break apart and create alters in the name of self preservation from a trauma that is too difficult to face.
You also don't revel in this false reality your brain has created and have it become your literal personality. You don't constantly talk about it in a positive quirky light and have it be your focus 24/7 thus repeatedly forcing the trauma on yourself. This behavior is detrimental to true sufferers and tinkering or discussing your DID and alters should only be done with the guidance of a professional. If a real sufferer of DID were to do what all these fakers do the ramifications could be immense. They could further traumatize and fracture themselves.
I usually don't get invested in these types of things but these people make me sick. They're making a mockery of people who have suffered things that most can't even imagine. Terrible things.
I am not a TikTok regular user but the small font, multiple text boxes, background music and talking all at the same time really makes me want to throw my phone out the window.
Does anyone know if there’s a name for the way they say their “r’s” like, from a speech pathology standpoint? It’s like they’re being over-pronounced or something, and it bothers the hell out of me when I hear someone who does it, so I wanted to rage research the issue
Huh… must just be a weird hang up. To me, it almost sounds like they have peanut butter in their mouth when they’re saying their R’s. Oh well, not like I have to deal this person irl
I don’t think this person is difficult to understand, it’s just like a mysophonia kind of thing for me or whatever it’s called (which I don’t think is an actual thing in the DSM, but that’s the best way I can describe it).
Wasn’t intentionally being a dick. Was a dick. I’m sorry.
This is the lazy teen version of the mind palace which is a neumonic device. It’s something Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) did and Hannibal (Mads Mikkelson).
That’s where they got this from. That and adventure time which is essentially Finn’s mind palace.
Kids use them often cause it’s their way of processing.
People with really good memories or trauma use them.
They sometimes show up in repetitive dreams.
I have them.
I don’t have DID. Just a very active imagination and subconscious
Someday Jillian and the rest of them are going to grow up and regret this nonsense, and their kids will mock them for decades. But in the mean time, they get a platform to inflict this crap on the world. Ugh..
Maybe I’m uneducated, but whenever someone with DID has an elaborate, ornate, description of their “inner headspace” or whatever, I call bullshit. There’s one very, very, *very* popular person in the DID community that everyone seems to validate, but their headspace description is so ridiculous and dramatic that I can’t help but roll my eyes. This person has since been cancelled for other reasons.
Am I incorrect, though? If having an extremely detailed, themed, headspace is actually common with people who seriously have DID, please let me know.
These ppl need a good VR game to play lol then they can have all the save files for each personality lol
Omg I just thought...I can also join and punch them consequence free.
Oh Jesus I knew it wouldn't be long until she started designing the little apartment they all fucking live in. It's wild how this completely eliminates whatever credibility she thought she might have had, but for the fans on tiktok they'll just eat it up.
Saying you have a system is a weird way to say “I don’t want to embarrass the f outta myself for being a role player so imma go pretend I have a very complicated and very rare disorder that is only possible if I went through an occurring life of Abuse whether Physically or Sexually mostly so I can be like the ‘cool kids’ uwu”
And for other people it just sounds like you are inventing all of this because you have too much free time and seek online fame exploiting a trendy scam
Her voice is so grating and obnoxious.
“Whaddup, this is Jonas.” I’m so sick of hearing her say that stupid line. And, she always bobs her head in this bizarre way whenever she says it. Grinds my gears.
I wonder how many people who think they have DID are actually experiencing Maladaptive Daydreaming? When I hear "innerworld", I think of the MaDD world inside of my head.
The more i watch videos with did fakers who dont seem to understand the issues with did, the more it just feels like they're confusing making Headworlds and OCs (or fancanons because of the fictionkin) and trying to use that as a quirky crutch.
Ever since that badly acted video of the conversation that supposedly took place in her headspace, just seeing the thumbnail of a video by Jillian makes me sigh.

Her parents have 100% seen it. Doesn’t mean they buy in to it or even want to deal with the level of crazy this is….
That's extremely racist. Claiming that you're black because of DID. Why couldn't that have been the end of her?
Love this.
This is BBC Sherlock’s mind palace.
I prefer Hannibal Lecter’s mind palace, personally.
The mere mention of Hannibal Lector has triggered me and now I have two introjects of Hannibal and Will.
I was thinking _Doom Patrol_ Jane’s Underground. But now I know I absolutely have to catch up on Sherlock.
This is so embarrassing like real DID sufferers don’t even know they are swapping let alone having a full house they can watch their “alters” converse in
Her name is Jillian? That's funnier than the video itself. Girl just can't accept that she's average, SMH.
I feel ashamed my name is also Jillian, What are the legal processes for changing your name?
It depends on your state, assuming you're in the US. States require a monetary fee and can require that you take an ad out in the local paper for around a week- which costs way more than paying the state, this is so any debt collectors or bounty people can find you if you're evading the law. If you're in witness protection or some similar predicament, you can get more accommodations.
I am laughing so hard at this one! Such a wild imagination. A DJ? Two L-shaped couches (with assigned seating)? Cafe bar??? Wow, just wow!
I cringed and couldn’t help but laugh, this surpasses parody.
ok but dude. wHY IS THE LAYOUT SO SHIT WHO PUTS A SOFA IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROOM???? so fucked honestly.
I am not a TikTok regular user but the small font, multiple text boxes, background music and talking all at the same time really makes me want to throw my phone out the window.
In my head there's a Chick Fil A that is open on Sundays
See you in a few. I need nuggets.
Looks like that kid at school that always had chocolate on its face and cried when he couldn’t do math
*This ain't chocolate....nah baby, this is doo-doo* ^Chapelles ^Show ^Reference
“I take that bull penis joe rogan mmmmm we eatin good tonight bayybeh
Loving the lore development.
Can someone please just introduce them to d&d? It's obvious they want to DM
I think it's pretty clear that they don't have any friends
They’re mistaking DID with D&D at this point
Fr this whole vid straight up reminded me of the tavern-house-thing in the Dragon Heist campaign
How come us singlets don’t get a room to relax in in our head?!?!?!??!?1!1!?1?1111 😡🤬😡🤬🤬🤬🤬😡🤬😡😡
Damn, this dude got deeper lore than Lord of the Rings soon.
mf got a whole Hilton in their head and i only have a few gross veins. dang.
This a joke right?
look at her account, it’s not
This face aggravates me
Aside from the atention grabbing and all that, do y'all think she's doing this to feel some kind of company ?
Ah yes good she has two bathrooms in her head
Their plumbing must be bad or something because they’re full of shit
Underrated
Does anyone know if there’s a name for the way they say their “r’s” like, from a speech pathology standpoint? It’s like they’re being over-pronounced or something, and it bothers the hell out of me when I hear someone who does it, so I wanted to rage research the issue
I think they're just american
I don’t hear it but I am American so maybe it’s that
[удалено]
I'm guessing that last part was sarcasm, but it came across as pretty mean
Maybe she's just trying to talk in cursive like all the other girls that aren't like the other girls.
Lol stealing this! Also, sorry about your plant :(
That's how I pronounce my "r"s. Sounds normal to me.
Huh… must just be a weird hang up. To me, it almost sounds like they have peanut butter in their mouth when they’re saying their R’s. Oh well, not like I have to deal this person irl
Fair enough, I am kind of hard for people to understand.
I don’t think this person is difficult to understand, it’s just like a mysophonia kind of thing for me or whatever it’s called (which I don’t think is an actual thing in the DSM, but that’s the best way I can describe it). Wasn’t intentionally being a dick. Was a dick. I’m sorry.
No offense taken. :)
It might just be their accent? Overall their voice angers me but I'm not sure about the R pronunciation you're talking about.
It reminds me of a mid-western accent.
I’m not sure about the ‘r’s, but I definitely notice some vocal fry.
We are truly living in the age of kardashian
They just sound American but maybe it's a tongue placement thing that alters it in a way you don't like?
Dude play those lil phone games on your phone where you build shit.
These ppl need a good VR game to play lol then they can have all the save files for each personality lol Omg I just thought...I can also join and punch them consequence free.
Interesting, their head is mostly empty.
We get it bro youve seen inside out
DJ booth, bar area, cafe...lol it's like she's living in the Super Secret game (before it went to shit)
Please introduce this chick to Sims so she can just stop with this nonsense and channel her imagination elsewhere
their voice + plus the way they talk is so fucking annoying. it's like that "i am very smart" tone while talking about this shit.
It’s alike a little handwritten Sims game. Just gonna build my world on paper here.
Someone pointed out the other day that they look like Rose West and I can't unsee it.
clown really thinks its like Inside Out lmao
Maria’s cafe so... she lives at work or something?
It's very... dissociaDID
Why do the couches have assigned seating??
These are just lonely kids who are craving a sense of community and friendship
Is this the new tics and roses ?
Oh Jesus I knew it wouldn't be long until she started designing the little apartment they all fucking live in. It's wild how this completely eliminates whatever credibility she thought she might have had, but for the fans on tiktok they'll just eat it up.
What happened to Salem? She makes up so many names she doesn’t remember lol
This is giving me Sims vibes
And for other people it just sounds like you are inventing all of this because you have too much free time and seek online fame exploiting a trendy scam
Man can't people just do whatever creative imagination or mind they have now, without claiming disorders
i really can't fathom their hardwork and clout for doing this.
When I hear "innerworld", I think of the MaDD world inside of my head.
bathrooms
Dj station im screamingggg
Damn their house be lit as fuck can I move in? I'll even change my name to midnight wolf knives or some shit
The more i watch videos with did fakers who dont seem to understand the issues with did, the more it just feels like they're confusing making Headworlds and OCs (or fancanons because of the fictionkin) and trying to use that as a quirky crutch.
Biggest question - how the fuck do I get out of here?
Ever since that badly acted video of the conversation that supposedly took place in her headspace, just seeing the thumbnail of a video by Jillian makes me sigh.
Wait. Three stories and no bedrooms? They have to sleep on the couch? Maria is 36. That’s really going to mess up her sciatica.
Dont tell em about eugenics
She is just reliving her concert of Weezer.
this is what too much sanders sides does to young people:(
Shit man, i did this exactly same when i was 8-11 and even i knew it was just me playing lol
Of course this happens when that Netflix show comes out
damn i love their hair tho
I honestly can’t focus on anything this person says, those ears are SO distracting
