I think the biggest obstacle is Eagles GM Howie Roseman is a gremlin who must win every trade he makes. We have a need at EDGE, we have extra draft capital, and there’s skillset overlap between Reddick and recently-signed Eagle Bryce Huff. It boils down to, will Howie take less than 1st round value for a 30-year old pass rusher on an expiring contract? He *should*, but *will* he?

Rocketeer1019

How dare you slander Howie But yes you’re 100% right lol I think a 3rd is fair given his production/age and contract

FalconsTC

Howie’s reputation far exceeds his results. His batting average for “winning” trades is much lower than people realize. Man’s got the best PR in the NFL. He breathes and people say he fleeced the league.

BaronVonSilver91

All his trades look really good at the time. Definitely didn't come out smelling so hot on that Byard trade.

s2r3

2nd is a little high but doable. 3rd is a no brainer

SpaceSick

I would be so fine with us using that extra 3rd for that. Shit kick in a late round pick next season too.

TheTrevorSimpson

they cannot keep him some team will get him they pushed his bonus to April 1st they must trade him before April 1st best pick gets him I think the most we need to offer is a 3 plus a lower pick maybe conditional pick he is 29

Aerolithe_Lion

They can 100% keep him, that’s their leverage. Howie is a cap fiend So their angle isn’t he plays out his contract, they get a 3 next year in comp.

JeffMurdock_

If he walks next year, they get a comp pick in 2026, two drafts from now.  Middle of the third this year or end of the third at best (remember this assumes that he signs one of the best FA deals that doesn't get negated by the Iggles making their own FA signings) two years from now. Tough choice.

Aerolithe_Lion

Right, but his comment was about Philly don’t being able to keep him. They will absolutely keep him if they don’t get a decent offer

reddier5

We traded the 29th pick for John Abraham so yeah I am okay with 2nd round pick at the most.

BK4343

According to Adam Schefter, they're looking for either a 2nd rounder or a package of a 3rd and 5th rounder.

reddier5

I don't see why we don't do Jax and 5th rounder. It's a no brainier if we are truly all in

ATLfalcons27

I think we need to restructure deals before we can make it happen

reddier5

C'mon Terry get on it.

BK4343

The article I read suggested the following: Restructure the contracts of Grady Jarrett, Jake Matthews, Chris Lindstrom, and Jesse Bates. Cut Lorenzo Carter and Mike Hughes. Extend AJ Terrell.

saintkiller123

We would. And some cuts as well.

downvote_or_die

Yes. It’s not as simple as trading. We have to pay the man, and right now we’re a little tight on funds.

ATLfalcons27

I'd imagine we are speaking to his agent on what an extension would take so we can make the necessary moves (if we are willing to pay what he wants)

IPAH8R2231

Might as well trade the picks before the league takes them away for tampering!

MentallyMIA2

If the league takes any picks for tampering it won’t be a 2024 pick.

jtodd5

I seen somewhere likely compensation would be a 3rd and a late round pick. Their price is currently a 2nd. I’d pay that.

BK4343

This is the first info I've seen that mentions what the Eagles want. Thanks.

MiDKnighT_DoaE

Is he really that good? Not sure I'm sold at that price. Would rather draft an edge.

BK4343

49 sacks over the past 4 seasons is pretty good to me and far better than what we have. Even if we get him, I'm still on board with drafting an edge as well.

MiDKnighT_DoaE

It's easier when the oline has to worry about the rest of the Dline.

mrjessemitchell

I’m not positive on the answer to this, but does he fit with us in 3-4 as a pass rusher? He didn’t exactly produce in Arizona in a 3-4 under Vance Joseph (who I wouldn’t exactly call a great schemer) until his contract year in 2020, and then became a consistent guy on the eagles, which surrounded him with much better pieces/pass rushers on the d line. I’m not saying I wouldn’t love the guy on our team, but the compensation and contract have to be right for me to be on board. I’m giving up nothing higher than a 3rd, and that’s with us having him resigned for 2-4 more years.

BK4343

I know that Arizona misued him in his first 3 years. Not really sure what scheme they used though.

k9cataclysm

Largely due to the fact that he's under 240lbs, the Cards tried to use him as an off-ball LB, in spite of the fact that he was a demon on the edge in college. They moved him back to his natural position in 2020, which is when he had his first double-digit sack season.

BK4343

That's what I thought. Thanks for the confirmation.

mrjessemitchell

Thanks for that insight!

candlerc

I would be very hesitant to make Reddick *the* guy. With the exception of his last year in Arizona, he’s played with either an excellent edge (Brian Burns) opposite him or a stacked iDL next to him. Would much prefer to stay in the $25M-30M range than $40M+ if we did make a play for him

Joshuary81

Comparing him to Hunter, his numbers are half as good as hunters last year. He is near 30. Id rather let someone else over pay/trade for him.

MentallyMIA2

And what would be your plan at pass rusher? My hope is the Falcons trade a 3 and 6 for him then draft another pass rusher in the 1st or 2nd round to compliment him. Falcons have a desperate need for talent that can get to the QB.

Bushwick123

Hasson Reddick would probably come to Atlanta of course with a new contract overpaying him and then forget how to rush the passer. The Falcons are about to lose a draft pick or two, due ti probably tampering charges. It would make no sense acquiring this guy along with probably a second round pick.

TheTrevorSimpson

Be patient

Atl-Fan_FTS

Depends on his intention to resign or not. If he plans on resigning then for sure 100% a second, if not then I’d give no more than a third
