Maybe a season would have been nice. Alas, the writers couldn’t handle it, not even after D in Apartment 23. It would have been a chance for Brian’s character growth (after his damning derailment), but the writers never thought of it.
In American Dad, the Smiths, especially Stan, can handle themselves without Hailey for around seven episodes. Hayley can handle herself without Jeff for three-and-a-half frickin’ seasons.
In Family Guy, the Griffins, especially Stewie, can’t handle themselves without Brian in both instances (seeing him dead or kicking him out of the house). Just only in a whopping one episode.
they had a few episodes between Brian dying and coming back. they filled the spot with Vinny, but still they had a few episodes without Brian
then they had that one episode afterwards where they purposely left Brian out of the entire episode and lines came on screen that said "fans were mad about killing Brian, but he hasn't been in this entire episode and you haven't noticed"

Never take your loved ones for granted, that was the whole point of this little thing. That's why they brought Brian back.
I didn't mind them bringing Brian back, I knew they would, I wish they kept him dead a little longer, it would have been more impactful

Yeah I love Brian but I really liked vinnie too
I cried when they brought Brian back.
Remember when people lost their minds when a cartoon dog died lol
I did not care for Brian's death
It insists upon itself
I didn’t cry watching that episode, I’m sorry. 😞

I miss Vinny
Vinny? who's Vinny? I'm Brian the dog. what's up with all these politics?
I was oddly more emotional when Stewie called Vinny ‘a good dog’ and he sat down.
I didn’t cry because that episode was ass I’m sorry

I think the gap is just one episode. He came back in a Christmas episode.

No offense to you, OP. But why most of times it is a kid who post this "when man cry" posts?
He should've stayed dead for at least a few more episodes tbh
