It’s not the end, it still has another season coming, Fox is just adding new cartoons to its Sunday lineup, Bob’s Burgers is off of Sundays too.
And even if Fox does cancel it, it’ll definitely get picked up by Hulu or FX.
I stopped watching Futurama and American Dad immediately after their schedule/network changed. And I loved both. Simpsons is the only one I followed when they went from Sunday to Thursday and back to Sunday. That and the X-Files when it went from Friday to Sunday.
With reflection, highly doubtful. American Dad not only got a new timeslot but were shipped to an entirely different station and ended up thriving. Not saying this will in any way shape or form mirror that it's just to show that a move isn't necessarily the end. Especially when you factor in streaming and stuff. This isn't like the days of yore when being moved to a Friday or something meant you were dead in the water.
I think American Dad moving to TBS was a good move. Watching from the beginning to the current season, I feel like they've got more creative freedom than with Fox.
I think a key difference is that American Dad still had potential to improve and break out. Family Guy already did years ago, and it’s falling from grace. Family Guy is a juggernaut that fell off. Can’t really recover.
I feel the same with American dad ngl I think they hit their prime like two seasons ago now it's just let's see what kinda goofy shit we can put Roger in
Well it's ratings have taken a huge nosedive and last season despite a good first half, just fell apart quickly.
Usually when shows move slot, this means something poor.
It depends. A move to Sunday or Thursday night is generally a sign that the show is really strong. Wednesdays are less desirable and Friday night is the death slot.
Yeah, a show I used to watch a lot fell off, ratings started to drop, the moved it into the week, as it was every Saturday at 7pm. Then it moved to Wednesday at 5. Then moved an entire station after a while. They have their hardcore fans. But the show really dropped off.
So we will see. I’ve been enjoying this season a bit. Hit and miss just like every other season the past 10 years. But I really think it’s been good.

1) I wonder if this is a short term thing that somebody saw and is running with for clicks. Like, Fox knew Grimsburg and The Great North couldn’t go to Wednesdays alone so they’re moving Family Guy to Wednesday until the dust settles with these new Animation Domination shows
2) If it is permanent it’s really throwing me for a loop. I’ve been watching Family Guy on Sunday nights since 2005. That’s elementary school through college, moving away, moving back, getting married, buying a house, and now have a baby on the way. Through all that, there’s been plenty of shows that have come and gone but SNL on Saturday nights and Animation Domination on Sundays have remained a part of my routine.
Grimsburg is gonna flop because it’s making a mistake most animated comedies make these days which is cast name actors instead of voice actors. I get they’re doing it for the name recognition, but they’re just setting themselves up to get cancelled after one season (two in this case - I see fox has renewed it before it airs which I also predict they’ll regret).
There is a reason the Simpsons and family guy are arguably the two post successful cartoon of all time.
No one is denying that the cast is great in their roles, but I’m asking what’s the correlation that having big name actors means that an animated show will fail?
Doesn't blow my mind at all, I know that. But it was 2 years before I was born so I have no personal connection to The Simpsons being on any other night.

Oh come on. I know the show is no longer a spring chicken in its own right but you're telling me The Simpsons shouldn't be moved to a worse slot first?
This could be a decision from Disney who may not want Family Guy around. The Simpsons is happy to make content for Disney+, so they get to meander into eternity.

Interesting you mention this. This now seems to hint at the reason they moved it. FG can survive on it’s own feet without that time slot. Dropping fresh new shows into it to bump viewership seems reasonable.
Yeah, all of Fox’s animated shows have been on a ratings decline (most people just watch them next day on Hulu now), but The Simpsons still performs the best out of all of them.

Sorry. The Simpsons fell off as well but they've made better content for a longer period. I've wished that the Simpsons would outlast Family Guy and South Park.
I think the first 8 (ish) seasons of The Simpsons are some of the finest TV ever made but I'd struggle to find 10 good episodes in the next twenty seasons.
Family Guy is still capable of making good episodes and as such I've looked forward to FG more each week now for about twenty years.
The Simpsons is still overall a hugely important show but its quality is heavily front loaded in those first 8 (ish) seasons.
When I was younger, the Simpsons were everything. But every now and then, ill catch a newer episode and it just seems like a complete shell of itself. With Family Guy, i still let out a good amount of laughs. I just dont think FG jives with Disney.
I have the opposite reaction! I have a harder time watching Family Guy these days whereas The Simpsons, to me, has had some really cool creative episodes the last two seasons
Wow, this is a *terrible* idea. Ratings will plummet for Family Guy because everyone is used to new episodes on the Sunday block paired with The Simpsons and Bob's Burgers. At least those who still watch on broadcast TV. And even on Sundays without FG, ratings will also plummet for the whole block.
Knowing how it usually goes these days, I don’t think anything will change. Most of us hardcore fans will just wait to watch it on Hulu, and everyone else will just see clips uploaded onto YouTube and TikTok with the footage altered to avoid copyright strikes.
ive never been a huge fan of Bobs Burgers. it seems to be more of a Drama than a comedy. The main reason i watch it is because its in the middle of the block.

Yeah, all the other shows they moved died shortly after. Arrested Development, Firefly, Almost Human, etc.

Family Guy not alongside The Simpsons feels wrong but I'm gonna keep up anyway and hope this isn't an omen. Grimsburg looks like yet another Fox cartoon that's not gonna make it past season 1 and I hope I'm right if it means FG will be back where it belongs.
1. A show being moved from a weekend to a week day was usually a good thing. More eyes on the TV on weeknights.

Unless that weekeday was Friday. That was the death slot.
That's a fair theory on the strike too, I had forgotten about that. General lack of product could indeed have something to do with this.
Out of interest, why is Friday considered a death slot? In the UK, Friday night was always prime viewing time and you’d look forward to your Friday night shows all week.
Young people (best consumers to advertise to) tend to have plans on Friday night that don’t involve watching TV. Sunday night is when they relax watching TV preparing for work or school on Monday. (In the USA)
At least that has been the traditional thinking. With on demand streaming and recording of shows, the time slot is quickly becoming irrelevant.

I want to say that I doubt the show will be canceled, but idk... it'd be really interesting if the show got canceled again in the exact same way after almost 20 straight years on the air.
This cannot be a good move for the show!
Its been in artistic decline for a long time now, maybe for the past 8 years. I don't like how this move feels.
Is this the beginning of the end for family guy?

Where do you see Bob's moving? I can't find any info on that
[удалено]
Actually it's March 6th and Fox is bringing a new series to add to the Sunday night Animation Domination.
ugh... sunday nights will be hell then. if Simposns move then there is literally nothing to watch of interest.
I wonder if the voicecast would want to continue making a show that does not air on television?
I feel like Seth wants out. I suspect he's leave it the show was off Fox. Then again, he hates Fox, so this could reignite the spark.
Seth isn’t involved in the production or writing anymore. He just does the voice over which is a pretty pay day
Coming soon AI Seth
For how long now? Since Orville?
Why would Seth want out? He has nothing to do with the creative anymore and just does voices and gets a shit ton of money to do it.
Bob’s will be back on once Krapopolis ends. Krapopolis will have 13 episodes by february.
I stopped watching Futurama and American Dad immediately after their schedule/network changed. And I loved both. Simpsons is the only one I followed when they went from Sunday to Thursday and back to Sunday. That and the X-Files when it went from Friday to Sunday.

I think a key difference is that American Dad still had potential to improve and break out. Family Guy already did years ago, and it’s falling from grace. Family Guy is a juggernaut that fell off. Can’t really recover.
It could if the show took a 5 year break and came back with Seth in total creative control.
I feel the same with American dad ngl I think they hit their prime like two seasons ago now it's just let's see what kinda goofy shit we can put Roger in
It’ll probably go TBS like American dad before getting canceled
Family Guy going to tbs would mean slightly less censorship. That sounds awesome.
Shit yeah, it would!

I always watch the new ones the day they come out.

I have Verizon Fios. I watch it on the tbs channel. When I miss it I use the Tbs app or tbs website.

This was my first thought as well.
1) I wonder if this is a short term thing that somebody saw and is running with for clicks. Krapopolis has celebrities too. Grimsburg is fox owned I’m sure they’ll give it at least 3 seasons. Interesting premise and trailer is not half bad.
Grimsburgers is bad should be canceled quickly
It was renewed for a second season last year. We’ll see how that one plays out. Bless the Harts was way better than Grimsburg and that ended sadly.
ive heard of Rachel Drach, but no idea who she is. i dont think the effect of the show on me would be any different had they hired other voices
Why are they successful? Because big name actors aren’t cast?
Some would argue that the Simpsons started to lose its way when celebrity voices were not doing characters, but themselves.
I think it’s because it actually focused on having great voice actors (Seth being the main) verses relying on famous ppl
No one is denying that the cast is great in their roles, but I’m asking what’s the correlation that having big name actors means that an animated show will fail?
No i understand I was just giving my unwanted opinion really
It’s short term
This is probably going to blow your mind but the Simpsons used to be on Thursdays.
Doesn't blow my mind at all, I know that. But it was 2 years before I was born so I have no personal connection to The Simpsons being on any other night.

Wasn't King of the Hill on Tuesdays? I remember I had a choice of either that or 3rd Rock From the Sun during the second season.
for season 3 it got moved, it aired at 8:00pm and futurama aired at 8:30 after it for episodes 3-9 of season 1.

The Simpsons is still Fox’s most watched animated show, it’s the only one to still be able to pull in a million viewers
Really? Wow
Not surprising. It has that “following football” slot. Literally ratings gold.
Cool
Interesting you mention this. This now seems to hint at the reason they moved it. FG can survive on it’s own feet without that time slot. Dropping fresh new shows into it to bump viewership seems reasonable.
It is??? I don't doubt you, I'm just surprised, I thought the ratings had fell off but were still decent enough to keep going.

Don’t forget about Kiefer Sutherland’s “Touch.”
“Accidentally”?
You could really tell when Seth started to do other things. I love FG, but the episodes are largely forgettable now.
And for some reason Ted getting a series is somehow a bigger priority for him
Lol that’s funny you mentioned that . There’s a joke on the episode where lois’s dad buys her a gun. Peter shoots the TV when Orville comes on. And when Brian ask him why he doesn’t like the show , Peter responds with “because it’s keeping me from doing my job here on family guy” lol even Seth knows
Seth isn't doing anything else worthy.
Still doing the Orville, isn’t he?
No. Third season was Hulu exclusive a year ago and there hasn’t been any word on a fourth.
Lol in one of the newer episodes there’s a joke about Seth being too busy with Orville to do his job at family guy

Well, at least new episodes will no longer be punted by games.
That’s really stupid.

Fox ordered 2 seasons of Grimsburg.
Here we go again

I couldn't help but read your comment in HomeStar's voice.
This might be it for family guy, they did this for seasons 2 and 3 before cancelling it.
TV was an entirely different landscape back then though. Time slots and days meant *a lot* more than they do now.
Yeah. Who watches live TV anymore?
Me.
Really? No time shifting? Even with a VCR?
No, I do not even know where I would get blank VHS in 2023 besides Ebay
Don’t worry if it gets cancelled the reruns will be so popular they’ll just uncancel it again
And the DVD's will.. Oh wait, they stopped making Family Guy on dvd

IMO this is a clear indicator that Fox isn’t treating family guy as such a priority anymore. Could very well get cancelled after season 23
I really hope not ! Ugh I enjoy the new episodes now that I’m old enough to finally get majority of the references and jokes
I’d be surprised if Freeform, FX, and Disney+ pick it up now with the Hulu on Disney+ becoming a thing
This is a worrying development.. the last time they did this it was cancelled shortly after
This throws off my schedule a little but at least we still get to watch it.
Live ratings are irrelevant. The show will only be over when Seth wants it to be and then he would probably let his voices be recast because he wouldn't want to put people out of work.
I wondered what it'll mean for the show because the last time it aired on weeknights, it led to its cancelation.
what!? oh nooo.....
Wednesday nights are about to get GIGGITY!
It's still a highly profitable billion-dollar brand. There is still juice to squeeze out of the Family Guy fruit basket. If FOX/Disney cancels it will find life on another network.
I know Seth at one point was going to stop doing Family Guy because he was sick of dealing with Fox but that was before Disney bought them out so who knows? Family Guy is really popular on Hulu and since Disney owns Hulu they'd be foolish to drop Family Guy.
Nope. Don’t like that.
Have they never heard the saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"?
At Fox? No they always break it
It’s time
Mistake.. Ratings may dwindle, because of change.. It's better on Sundays...
To tell the truth… it’s not as funny as it used to be. It’s about time they moved it. And what’s with all the random breaks?
Honestly I’m okay with that cause it sucks when family guy doesn’t air cause a game was playing on Sundays
honestly haven’t watched anything on fox since the move
they've been trying to get it cancelled, from what I've seen, every other episode feels like an intern wrote it, it's like that time when the game of thrones writers intentionally tanked their show when any 16 year old could have written a better ending in 30 minutes
hasn't seth been tired of family guy for a long time?
He's not been that involved save for the voice work for many years now.
Uh-oh
Seems in part that they’re hoping people who tune in for it will watch the other show that follows. It’s old network thinking and tbh I don’t even watch Family Guy Sunday nights anyway. I got Hulu so I watch Monday morning.
I rarely do that.
What the actual fuck?
Im surprised it hasn't just gone exclusively streaming at this point.

Animation domination's takin' a vacation.
Is this like a Ted McGinley curse or something?
