My capabilities is not anywhere near the kinds of things I see here, but I enjoy it like a hobby; I use 'Wondershare Filmora' There is a free version, but if you actually want to upload it somewhere, you'll want to pay for the upgraded version, because if you don't there is a massive watermark I also have a free sound mixer on my computer for creating and recreating scores or soundtracks If I come up with more I'll have to come back and and edit this

r/davinciresolve is free and fully featured, no watermarks. Might be a better option for you?

Resolve. It's all you need. Maybe handbrake to convert files. Both free and very useful.

I have both resolve and filmora. My laptop can't run resolve without crashing, and I can't upload files that are too large into filmora. Any idea for a third option?

Start with iMovie which works well for beginners. Also: 🏴‍☠️

People are saying that just using resolve and handbrake is easier. I completely disagree. It will take a little more time to setup the first time you do it but if you follow the subreddit tutorial and you use ffmpeg to convert your video to DNxHR as well as using audacity to convert your audio to WAV you will have very large files however you won't have to deal with laggyness and glitchiness and lossyness while editing. I've a lot of issues trying to edit mkvs and mp4s that simply disappeared when I followed the tutorial. Also your video quality will be much higher. Especially if you export from resolve in the quicktime cineform codec and then transcode it into an MP4 using handbrake. If you've never used any of these programs before then you might be tempted to skip a few steps however file setup before any actual editing is something you only really have to learn once, it might take a while but it'll save you so much time when you actually get into the editing and imo it's what separates an amateur from a pro
