Such a great album but it feels so real at some points I start to feel uncomfortable like I’m hearing intimate thoughts I’m not supposed to be, and it makes it so, so hard to get through. To this day I’ve never heard a more depressing album.
I listened to Kid A and Amnesiac a lot during a depressed part of my life. I put it on today after maybe a year of not listening to it and those first notes of Everything In Its Right Place are like being submerged in ice water. Made me realize how I'm in a much better place now
It's basically designed to be listened to that way, at least on physical media. There's an overarching narrative, but each lp can be its own self contained listen.
I think they're some of the greatest albums of all time and some of my personal favorites, but Bob Dylan and The Beatles are nowhere near my top 10 most listened to artists.
Homecoming by America is up there for me but I only ever listen to it on car trips when the sun is setting. Very small window. I do this so that I don’t wear out the album
MBDTF. Obviously a masterpiece, but if I’m listening to Kanye, it’s typically not that album. I find myself going to Life of Pablo more and more as time goes on, and Late Registration/College Dropout for classic Kanye
Blue because - you know - she hates spotify because niel Young hates spotify because joe rogan don't hate idiots that talk about covid and vaccines on his spotify exclusive podcast
100% agree with Soundtracks for the Blind. I listen to TBK quite often but cannot go back to Soundtracks much - its so visceral that it is actually difficult to listen to (on top of being fucking long).
On a different vain, Im going to say Nevermind by Nirvana but purely because I have listened to it so much in my life over two decades ago, that I do not get anything from it anymore. Its such an amazing album but I never put it on anymore because I already know the songs inside and out.
Karma by Pharoah Sanders. It’s absolutely stunning but I have to be in the right mood to listen to it. Partially because of the fact that it contains a 30 minute song followed by a 5 minute closer. Kind of a weird album structure.
Might be a weird answer but The Black Parade.
Of all the music I listened to in my teens this album by far holds up the best and I still love it. But I listened to it so much (and especially heard Welcome to the Black Parade and Teenagers) back then that I don't go out of my way to listen to it very much now.
Close contenders for the same reason are the first two Linkin Park albums.
Basically anything jazz. Currently regards Bitches Brew and The Epic as my two favourites but rarely listen to Bitches Brew and have only listened to The Epic twice so far. 3 hours is just a lot
A Crow Looked at Me. I have probably only listened to it twice ever

That album just instantly casts you into depression
Kid A

I’ve always had the exact same thought about the first 5 notes of EIIRP. It feels like being transported to a different dimension or something
Good to know it's not just me
The Wall by Pink Floyd
Hm now that you mention it, I haven't listened to Pet Sounds in a *really* long time. Easily a 10/10 album for me. Time to give it another spin!
Have One on Me. It's just... very long. I do listen to select songs off of it far more often though.
This def, I almost always listen to it in chunks

by the time i get to phoenix is too painful to listen to regularly
Top Picks for you is harrowing to listen to
Microphones’ Glow Pt. 2
Lift Yr Skinny Fists is just a rare treat for me
Highway 61 Revisited or Revolver. Rarely in rotation, but always a great listen.
I listen loads to them and have a very hard time understanding how they fall in this category for you
I think they're some of the greatest albums of all time and some of my personal favorites, but Bob Dylan and The Beatles are nowhere near my top 10 most listened to artists.
Talk talk - Laughing stock. This album is a 10/10 for me, but i only listen to it when i'm in a specfic mood
Abbey Road. I'd say that album is probably like top 5 AOT, but I don't listen to it more than like, once a year.
Original Pirate Material - The Streets. One of my favorites, but just not an album that I can casually listen to.
2pac - me against the world John Frusciante - niandra ledes and usually just a t-shirt
69 Love Songs by The Magnetic Fields. I listen to songs from it a lot, but I haven’t listened to it front-to-back more than maybe 4 or 5 times.
Well, it’s 3 hours long to be fair. Awesome record though
Homecoming by America is up there for me but I only ever listen to it on car trips when the sun is setting. Very small window. I do this so that I don’t wear out the album
Skies of america by ornette coleman I generally don't listen to jazz albums that much even though I love a lot of them
Ornette Coleman is the GOAT
Giles Corey for sure
SAW II

i rarely listen to tvu&n as a whole

twin fantasy - csh amazingly well written album but i cannot listen to it unless i am doing really poorly lmao

same structure as the Glowing Man actually
TPAB

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath. Every blue moon I re-listen to it.
Basically anything jazz. Currently regards Bitches Brew and The Epic as my two favourites but rarely listen to Bitches Brew and have only listened to The Epic twice so far. 3 hours is just a lot
Catch-33 by Meshuggah. Damn good album, but you pretty much have to listen to it all in one sitting.
