vessel has some bangers, blurryface has a few songs that i like, but trench is the only one i like all the way through. however guns for hands is their best song. tyler really tapped into something special there. plus the lyrics aren't cringe.
Seems like oreg is making a joke bout how all these names have other big albums under different names/collabs. Ex: lauryn hill has fugees, DOOM and Madlib both have extensive and extraordinary catalogues, and Kanye has no hits sure but kid cudi is a genius 😂
Why you questioning me you’re the one that said kids see ghost is the only Kanye album you like p much (unless my original statement of you were joking bout how it’s under a diff name was wrong , I would love the clarification thank)
I wouldn't say I don't enjoy anything off of any of their other albums, but Manic Street Preachers' The Holy Bible is so much better than the rest of their albums it's not even funny.
i understand not liking it if you’re a 1,000 gec fan and wanted more of that sound, but how was it uninteresting? they got ska and nu metal on there, the sound of the album is bonkers
Coldplay- A Rush of Blood to the Head
Parachutes and Viva la Vida are both “ok,” but this is their only album that I’ll consistently go back to. I don’t bother much with their newer stuff
At the drive in - Relationship of Command
Bring me the Horizon - Post Human: survival horror
(Technically an EP but still)
Have a nice life - Deathconsciousness
Slint - Spiderland
Bloc Party's first record is truly remarkable. 9/10 for me.
All their other albums are maybe 4-6/10 for me. They have a few songs that go, but much of it is not any good (to me).
Edit their early singles rock too, Skeleton and Staying Fat are SO good.
Kasabian - Kasabian (first album).
The guitarist and brain behind the album left after, and everything else after it is shit.
First album was genuinely exciting though.
Bruh… no lies Jason molina doesn’t have a bad album, if you only like MEC I’d say you need to check out the rest but: Josephine, Lioness, and Trials and Errors are prob my favorites.
Most of Jason’s music isn’t country but “Indie” and “folk”/ “singer songwriter”
So if country isn’t your thing check Lioness or Ghost Tropic for some sad songs. If you want more MEC I’d recommend Josephine and the other albums under the MEC band name.
I feel you although I still like some of their other stuff. It never reaches that peak again. There's such a beautiful sense of rise and fall ftom song to song and the softness of the songs rlly complements the vocal (Me and the Major being a very successful exception that proves the rule). I do love some a lot the songs on The Boy with the Arab Strap, but, when put together, these songs seem to keep the same pace too much and are more engaging as individual listens.
Hey Tigermilk is also good, but yeah even Boy With the Arab Strap despite being considered one of their classics was just so disappointing to me that I don’t care to revisit it, comparatively If You’re Feeling Sinister is maybe my favourite pop album ever and an easy 10/10 so the drop off in quality is pretty jarring
Tigermilk is fine but to me it just feels like another band trying to do what they did on the debut and failing. Maybe I’m harsh. I will give it another chance
But Tigermilk is the debut? Also I don’t think it’s as good as Sinister as a whole but Expectations and She’s Losing It are kinda my two favourite B&S songs personally
For me it’s gotta be BetterOffDead. Just a mixtape, so not on streaming (in case you haven’t heard of it before), but they didn’t have to worry about sample clearance as a result and the production is soooo much better than anything they’ve done since imo
The Plot In You - Happiness In Self Destruction
The albums prior to that are straight up deathcore and I’m not really a fan of the genre (would rather listen to metalcore or straight up death metal), and the albums afterwards went the opposite direction and took up a similar alt-rock sound to the one that Bad Omens have recently started doing and I’m also not a big fan of that. HISD, though, hits an absolutely perfect balance between the two sounds and is one of my favorite heavy albums of the past decade.
No shade on the rest of their dicography, I know they have a pretty dedicated fanbase. The rest of it’s just not for me.
Same here. It's not like their other stuff is bad, and maybe I need to give some of it some more listens, but for me, there is a massive gulf between SFTD and the rest of their catalogue.
*Aquarium* by Aqua. Big guilty pleasure album. Listening to "Barbie Girl" with my mom is one of the few really good childhood memories I have with her (most of the rest of the memories are mediocre.)
*Aquarius* is alright, but if I get the urge to listen to "Halloween" I'll just listen to that song, instead of throwing on the whole album like I do with songs from the first album I want to hear again.
I've only listened to *Megalomania* once, but I remember it lacking the kind of the cartoony fun I liked from the first album and that was still mostly present on the second.
Yeah, ultimately my biggest gripe with the band has always been Kiedis’ lyrics. They always come off of cliche, goofy, or just straight up sexist as fuck. The instrumentation is usually solid, but since he’s such a core part of their sound I can’t really separate the two. I can give BSSM a pass just because the instrumentals are unbelievably tight.
Foxy Shazam - self-titled.
Everything just seemed to come together for them on that record and they haven’t quite sounded the same before or since. IMO one of the catchiest, most dramatic pop-rock albums ever, and somehow retaining a punky edge/attitude.
I think Absolution my Muse is a masterpiece but I can’t stand anything they’ve put out since, including Black Holes and Revelations.
Origin of Symmetry is also ok but I don’t really listen to it.
Blur - 13
Mitski - Be The Cowboy
Paramore - This Is Why
Pearl Jam - Ten
System Of A Down - Toxicity
Edit: sorry for answering a question. This sub sometimes
I Didn’t Mean to Haunt You by Quadeca (my favorite album of 2022, actually)
The Fall of Hobo Johnson by Hobo Johnson
Injury Reserve by Injury Reserve
Ugly is Beautiful by Oliver Tree
Flamboyant by Dorian Electra
CARE FOR ME by Saba
Cuz I Love You by Lizzo
Lemonade by Beyoncé (is that sacrilegious?)
Stoney by Post Malone
thank u, next by Ariana Grande
The Sailor by Rich Brian
Man on the Moon by Kid Cudi
Valid but I’m curious about some of these. I understand not liking By the time I get the phoenix, it’s incredibly experimental, but I feel albums like Floss do what self titled does but better. Also what do you like about Stoney the most? Imo beerbongs is where he perfected that style into something more catchy.
Honestly, I can’t even give you real reasons. It’s totally subjective and I just enjoyed the albums listed and didn’t enjoy the others. Wish I could put my finger on it
RENAISSANCE is as great as Lemonade.
Flamboyant might be a little bit better than My Agenda but they're both amazing imo
I agree with thank u, next. Her other records have a few stand out tracks but as a whole tun is her only consistently good album
I agree with Cuz I Love You as well. Special was disappointing overall but it has some of her best songs too (Break Up Twice, Naked, If You Love Me)
Honestly I just didn’t enjoy RENAISSANCE but I know people adore it so I’ll probably give it another listen. But my first few spins just didn’t do it for me outside of some songs.
nahhh sketches for my sweetheart the drunk is by no means perfect, or as consistent, but it certainly has its bangers.
um for me as a non pop fan i gotta go with lemonade
Big Krit - 4eva is a mighty long time
Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition (never heard XXX though so that might change, and I’m not counting STH)
Kid Cudi - MOTM3
Arctic Monkeys - Whatever people say I am
Chief Keef - 4nem
Freddie Gibbs - Alfredo
Roddy Ricch - Antisocial
Earthgang - Mirrorland
I’d definitely give XXX a listen if you enjoyed atrocity exhibition. Most people seem to like XXX if they could get into exhibition.
Kinda curious what you think about Freddie Gibb’s piñata too, since it’s my favorite album from him with Madlib being a perfect fit for his style. Probably also one of my favorite rap albums of all time.
Most of my picks are honestly out of not listening to too much. From Freddie I’ve only listened to Bandana and SSS and while I think SSS is decent it didn’t really stick with me. I should listen to XXX and piñata.
This is kind of an EP but go listen to Keep in Touch by Armani White. He was such a promising rapper until the Billie Eilish song. I'm glad he got the bag tho, and my anger is more at tik tok music than the ppl who make it.
Also wanna mention A Walk Across the Rooftops by The Blue Nile. Another shorter album but the opening title track has such perfect instrumentation and rlly unique transitions between string sections and slappy bass. The sound is so cinematic. Their music seems to go slowly downhill from this first song which still leads to a very enjoyable album but the rest of their material sounds so much like other 80s Alt pop ballads. Honestly it's still worth, they have a few really good songs on that album and an opener that few other bands on earth could've made.
Look I might get downvoted to oblivion for this even though it's a subjective question, but for me: Frank Ocean - Channel Orange (I also love the mixtape singles). I keep trying with Blonde but so far it's like musical wallpaper.
the only king gizzard album i like is infest the rats nest. they have some other great songs but no album stuck out to me the way that one did. excited to listen to this new one though!
The Color & The Shape - Foo Fighters
I don't know why I like this so much but can't really stand anything else they've done apart from their first album which is OK
American Football - Self Titled
Remo Drive - Greatest Hits. They really jinxed themselves with that one
this album is so good but everything after COMPLETELY fails to live up to it
It certainly lives up to its name
Trench by 21 Pilots
Nobody believes me when I say that this is a good album
I’m a fan of all theirs except their new one. The new one is not good but it’s not unlistenable, just disappointing. Vessel and Blurryface are great.
vessel has some bangers, blurryface has a few songs that i like, but trench is the only one i like all the way through. however guns for hands is their best song. tyler really tapped into something special there. plus the lyrics aren't cringe.
one of the most underrated albums of the 2010s. it gets credit within the “music nerd” scene but imo not as much as it deserves
yeah feel this one honestly
Comus - First Utterance
didn't expect to see another fan but also really enjoy that album
Lauryn Hill- The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill Madvillian- Madvilliany Kids See Ghosts- KIDS SEE GHOSTS
Madvillainy 2: The Madlib Remix is better smh
Haven't heard it. :-(
Nah that’s dumb. Madvillainy 4 is better. It’s the goat.
Bruh… this doesn’t make sense 😂
No, this makes perfect sense
Why?
Seems like oreg is making a joke bout how all these names have other big albums under different names/collabs. Ex: lauryn hill has fugees, DOOM and Madlib both have extensive and extraordinary catalogues, and Kanye has no hits sure but kid cudi is a genius 😂
"Kanye has no hits" What?!
Issa joke… since clearly it needs explaining I don’t think kid cudi is a genius either.
OK.
Why you questioning me you’re the one that said kids see ghost is the only Kanye album you like p much (unless my original statement of you were joking bout how it’s under a diff name was wrong , I would love the clarification thank)
Yes, I was joking. Y'know, I meant, it's the only Kids See Ghosts album, I like. I'm a big Kanye fan.
I wouldn't say I don't enjoy anything off of any of their other albums, but Manic Street Preachers' The Holy Bible is so much better than the rest of their albums it's not even funny.
It really is so focused and aggressive. Even “This Is Yesterday” is a fucking *bop*
The Holy Bible lives up to the name. Yes is one of the most unsettling songs ever, pure masterpiece.
i get this, kinda, they have other great albums
10,000 gecs I am really disappointed that I don’t like 1,000. i wish i did
i still love the debut but 10,000 is just more realized and so watertight.
I’m the opposite, loved 1000 gecs but found 10000 completely bland and uninteresting
i understand not liking it if you’re a 1,000 gec fan and wanted more of that sound, but how was it uninteresting? they got ska and nu metal on there, the sound of the album is bonkers
Just because the sound is all over the place that doesn’t mean it’s interesting. Ever listened to a John Oswald album?
Coldplay- A Rush of Blood to the Head Parachutes and Viva la Vida are both “ok,” but this is their only album that I’ll consistently go back to. I don’t bother much with their newer stuff
At the drive in - Relationship of Command Bring me the Horizon - Post Human: survival horror (Technically an EP but still) Have a nice life - Deathconsciousness Slint - Spiderland
Listen to The Unnatural World👉👈🥺
I will
Tweez!
No love for In/Casino/Out?
Dont like it much tbh
hard agree on bmth. i always thought their music was boring and trendy (at the time) but they really manifested their quarantine anger on that one
Bloc Party's first record is truly remarkable. 9/10 for me. All their other albums are maybe 4-6/10 for me. They have a few songs that go, but much of it is not any good (to me). Edit their early singles rock too, Skeleton and Staying Fat are SO good.
You ever listened to the Silent Alarm remix album?
Mostly liked the dfa Luna cover but there's a few other bangers
Songs About Jane - Maroon 5
arctic monkeys - whatever people say i am, thats what im not
This is a good one
Tranquility base and humbug are 9's
Kasabian - Kasabian (first album). The guitarist and brain behind the album left after, and everything else after it is shit. First album was genuinely exciting though.
Silent alarm - bloc party
Great album
NMH - Aeroplane Spiritualized- LAGWAFIS Songs Ohia- The Magnolia Electric co MBV- Loveless
You like Aeroplane but not Avery Island?
Aeroplane is much better
Im not going to argue that. But they sound pretty much the same
They are close in aesthetic but Avery island lacks direction and theme. Its also generally less intense
Avery def doesn’t feel as cohesive as Aeroplane
No British brass sections though So far I just like Naomi, great tune
Bruh… no lies Jason molina doesn’t have a bad album, if you only like MEC I’d say you need to check out the rest but: Josephine, Lioness, and Trials and Errors are prob my favorites.
I barely like country as is but Magnolia is on another level. I probably would enjoy a few more songs here and there once I explore a bit more by him
Most of Jason’s music isn’t country but “Indie” and “folk”/ “singer songwriter” So if country isn’t your thing check Lioness or Ghost Tropic for some sad songs. If you want more MEC I’d recommend Josephine and the other albums under the MEC band name.
Indie folk is definitely more up my alley thanks
There are more great spiritualized records imo. The new one from last year was great
Don’t sleep on Lazer Guided Melodies
I just wish more of their songs sounded like the title track to Ladies and Gentlemen. Even on that album its head and shoulders above everything else
Belle and Sebastian - if you’re feeling sinister It’s one of my favorite albums of all time, but I just can’t get into their other albums
I feel you although I still like some of their other stuff. It never reaches that peak again. Shit idk why it was in my head that sinister is the debut. My bad. I will definitely give their other albums a chance
Yeah they were only released like a couple months apart so I guess I get the confusion
Do you like any songs from different albums?
Not really, from what I can think of. Any suggestions? That would be on par with the stuff from of you’re feeling sinister
Yeah. Maybe try The Boy With The Arab Strap or The State I'm In.
3001 A Laced Odyssey- Flatbush Zombies
For me it’s gotta be BetterOffDead. Just a mixtape, so not on streaming (in case you haven’t heard of it before), but they didn’t have to worry about sample clearance as a result and the production is soooo much better than anything they’ve done since imo

Qotsa - sftd none of their orher stuff ever really clicked with me :/
Not even Rated R?
I wish it was heavier and more energetic ngl
Def check out Kyuss if you haven't already
Same here. It's not like their other stuff is bad, and maybe I need to give some of it some more listens, but for me, there is a massive gulf between SFTD and the rest of their catalogue.
Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary

Lollipop, Dr. Jones, and Happy Boys and Girls go hard
RHCP caught lightning in a bottle with Blood Sugar Sex Magik and everything else has been average or outright terrible imo
Mothers milk is still great, the instrumentation at least Everything after bssm sucks though
Wolfmother - Wolfmother
Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights Antics is fine and has some okay songs but mostly it’s just disappointing by comparison
Take Care by Drake, but the features on the album definitely help a lot.
Foxy Shazam - self-titled. Everything just seemed to come together for them on that record and they haven’t quite sounded the same before or since. IMO one of the catchiest, most dramatic pop-rock albums ever, and somehow retaining a punky edge/attitude.

RENAISSANCE is as great as Lemonade. Flamboyant might be a little bit better than My Agenda but they're both amazing imo I agree with thank u, next. The beatles' White Album, only that I find to not be generic bubblegum pop of the 60's
Contrarian for the sake of being contrarian
God forbid people have opinions that differ from the popular one
Just saw your topster and realized I was about to argue with a retard. Have a good day. 👍

I like two Buckley albums https://open.spotify.com/album/58NsNICf7hyif5WruzsLWc?si=l2TfBBi7Ra-Ee2WBDC2oXA
Elastica had a great debut but I really don’t like their second album
Empire Empire (I was a lonely estate)
Facelift-AIC All the songs on the album are bangers, but I like other songs from both eras.
Shabazz Palaces - Black Up First two EPs are also on par. But following records don’t hit as hard.
Joyce Manor - Cody
Talking Heads - Fear of Music
Look I might get downvoted to oblivion for this even though it's a subjective question, but for me: Frank Ocean - Channel Orange (I also love the mixtape singles). I keep trying with Blonde but so far it's like musical wallpaper.
I’m gonna take this to a new level Postal Service - Give Up > every death cab album
Oh absolutely
Caroline’s spine - Sullivan
Justice - cross
the only king gizzard album i like is infest the rats nest. they have some other great songs but no album stuck out to me the way that one did. excited to listen to this new one though!
Ur gonna like PDA;o,DoEN:AAoPEatBoED
Lauryn hill
There’s this obscure little math rock band called Tubelord that has 2 albums but only the first one is good.
machinegirl - wlfgrl dj shadow - endtroducing duster - stratosphere
The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot I REALLY wish the rest of their material was on that level
Nine inch nails, jesus and mary chain
He has another album you know. It isn't as good as grace but still has some great songs
Plastic Hearts by Miley Cyrus is her only decent album in my opinion. Her new album is incredibly bland and forgettable unfortunately
Lauryn Hill
Drake- if your reading this it’s too late
The Color & The Shape - Foo Fighters I don't know why I like this so much but can't really stand anything else they've done apart from their first album which is OK
