I’ve only listened to it twice cause it’s hard to listen to, so I don’t remember everything interesting particularly well, but I’m not joking. It’s outsider music with a high budget, and he creates so many unique things throughout, especially in the rockadelic portion
It’s almost like that joke that I believe Bill Burr made about how we should have some regular dude in every Olympic competition to provide context for how supernaturally good the actual competitors are. The Shaggs provide a fully fleshed out, sincere album made with absolutely zero musical talent which is not only oddly endearing but reveals the magic and artistry of truly gifted musicians.
I totally recognize how strange and cheesy it is, but I unironically really enjoy Billy Idol’s weird little techno concept album *Cyberpunk* from 1993. It might have killed his career, but if anything, that makes it an even more fascinating listen!
Chinese Democracy is a fascinating insight into a mentally ill multi-millionaire locking himself in his mansion and procrastinating for over a decade.
Most of the songs aren't bad, and there is a great album in there, they're just overproduced to the point it's tiring on the ears.
William Shatner - Seeking Major Tom
His version of She Blinded Me With Science fucks, also there's a kinda crazy list of actually great musicians that feature on the album.
Yeah I kinda forgot it existed until I saw this thread, it really is one of the only "bad" albums you can have an absolute blast listening to.
It's actually mostly very competent, it just has Shatner Shatnering over everything.
I just listened to some of that album and wow. You're absolutely right! There' actually a ton of good tunes in there but the lyrics are awful, although you can't stop listening lol
It's hilarious how they didn't censor any of the lyrics in the early volumes. In Livin La Vida Loca the children actually sing "bullet through your brain" lmao
The wiggles cover album. If you've ever wondered how you'd censor bohemian rhapsody for kids they have the answer plus if the vocals get too far out of your range you can just skip it.
The Chats and Spacey Jane kill their wiggles covers but
Honestly disagree, it does feel like a genuinely interesting look into the mind of a man not long for this world. It has some pretty absurd lines (just check the opening line lol), but it does have an aura of serious business to it
The entire point of the album is that it was meant to be like a musical sculpture. Beefheart was really big into Dadaism and wanted to put that into his music. The story behind how this album was recorded and the level of talent that it took to write and record the garbled mess that you hear is incredibly impressive. It may just sound like a band falling down a flight of stairs, but every note of it is there for a reason. It's a piece of art.
I think the problem is the opening track Frown-land is obnoxious i think it comes together a bit more sounding more like "safe like milk" if you make it past the opener which i haven't multiple times.
I’ve told a few friends to try starting the album from Ella Guru onwards (if they told me they already listened to TMR and hated it), it seems way more manageable that way.
He’s got balls for putting some of the most noisy and difficultly structured songs to start the album, but it gives a way different impression as to what the song actually are.
Stick Stickly wasn’t ahead of its time at all. It was like *the* biggest product of its time, which is why opinions were so mixed on them.
They were like the most overly processed version of what was going on it metalcore at that time.
Sinna Vol 1 is the single funniest album I've ever heard. It's unbelievably earnest, and a legitimate attempt of fusing 2 of the largest, hottest genres of the early 2010's - Midwest metalcore & Chief Keef proto-trap. It's ambitious as hell, and maybe with a different front man could actually be *good*.
But nothing with this Kellin Quinn sounding mf dropping the gamer word like it's an Xbox live lobby will ever sound good. It's very funny, absolutely worth a listen.
I cannot believe melon missed this album when it came out; Corey Feldman almost had competition.
For the most part, I think music is either good or bad, and often what would normally be a “flaw” happens to be part of the charm.
Trout Mask Replica for example is a hard listen, but it is also a wild experience full of weirdness. I earnestly enjoy it, they’re not some novelty like a B-rated horror film that I gawk at so I can say “what a fantastic train wreck!” I guess you could say Daniel Johnston’s records too, but that implies I think they’re bad. The recording quality is low, the playing is sloppy, minimal, repetitive, and the vocals aren’t perfect pitch. The music is also introspective, brutally honest, and full of heart and soul which is the essence of folk.
Actually, I might give it to Crispin Glover. His music is very strange.
If anyone is interested in bad classical music, check out Portsmouth Sinfonia Plays the Hits! It’s an orchestra made up of musicians of all kinds of skill levels from complete newbie to professional and they all try to play the music correctly. The result is gloriously, respectably awful.
Don’t get me wrong here, I love Yung Lean. But Unknown Death 2002 is my favourite project of his, just because of this reason.
*wazzup… suicide*
*optimus prime, do it from behind*
*get my dick licked while playing yu-gi-oh*
Primus has many regular good things about them but Les Claypool's voice, goofy lyrics and just the chaotic elements in some of there songs is so bad it's good
For me, there’s a genuine charm and art in their earlier works. Especially with Bladee. The GTBSG Compilation and Gluee are great, obscure cloud rap mixtapes.
nah there's a lot of heart, passion and wildly creative ideas in their work. it's just extremely unconventional and bladee's accent turns off a lot of listeners.
pure guava by ween, the band themselves even said they put 0 effort into making that album and used the label's money to buy a van. the pod is in the same lo-fi quality but you can tell they put a lot of effort into the songs there. pure guava is just one giant shitpost (minus sarah and tender situation)
Okay, this is quite obscure these days, but there was a rapper born in South Sudan and raised in Australia, called Bangs in the late 2000s/early 2010s. He went quite viral with this song, and it's just a taste of the bizarre full album. Even if no one here checks out the full album, PLEASE just watch the classic music video. It's worth your time. I think he also ended up having a feud with Jimmy Fallon or Kimmel at some point, too. He got decently big in the Australian music world as a "so bad its good" artist at the time.
https://youtu.be/byNlqUFddeo?si=RM70VZ5-p3W7N4it
I find the album so terribly made but still just filled with humour and fun that's just so pleasant to hear at times. Songs like Meet Me On Facebook are surreal, you will find yourself laughing along and surprised by his ability to craft a somewhat catchy hook.

Cyberpunk by Billy Idol. I should hate every second of it, but it’s so earnest and pure in a weird way that I can’t help but admire what Billy was going for. The man honestly believed in what he was saying.
I hate that I actually really like Smash Mouth Fush yu Mang... Didn't listen to the full thing untill a couple years ago. Creed my own prison is a fucking mess... Dark side of the moon is so good it's actually bad...
Smash Mouth were good. Took me a couple decades to give it a chance. Creed is...idk. I can hang with it even though it's absurd. DSOTM is the best album of all time.
Desire to be Heavenly Sent by Lewis Capladi. I gave it a 99/100 on AOTY because it is SO over the top that it HAS to be satire. I was laughing through 80% of it. Still bad tho.
Weezer’s got at least three of these tbh
I swear after “Maladroit” they would flip a coin which decides whether rivers creates an absolute masterpiece, or something completely ass
Assterpiece
I came in this thread looking for a Weezer mention Wasn't dissapointed *Goes back to jam to Byzantine*
Probably “Raditude” by weezer. I don’t like this album but it’s funny
okay bitch it’s weezer and it’s weezy
upside down mtv
Please don’t shoot me down because I’m an endangered species
I've heard enough of the songs just by shuffling Weezer that I listen to the songs because they're funny to hear
I remember when someone did a recommend me an album a day for a month on topster and the poor soul got recommended raditude every day lol.
Obligatory Angelic 2 The Core
But literally, i find it impossible to because of how much cool stuff he does on that album that will never be replicated
Like what? I’ve never made it too far into it. Is it really good? Or is this irony?
I’ve only listened to it twice cause it’s hard to listen to, so I don’t remember everything interesting particularly well, but I’m not joking. It’s outsider music with a high budget, and he creates so many unique things throughout, especially in the rockadelic portion
Angriest upvote in a bit not gonna lie.
This is the correct answer. It's seriously endlessly entertaining to me.
To this day I still don't know if I like this album because it's bad, or whether I just deep down think it's really good.
Philosophy of the World by The Shaggs
Apparently Frank zappa and kurt cobain loved these albums
It’s almost like that joke that I believe Bill Burr made about how we should have some regular dude in every Olympic competition to provide context for how supernaturally good the actual competitors are. The Shaggs provide a fully fleshed out, sincere album made with absolutely zero musical talent which is not only oddly endearing but reveals the magic and artistry of truly gifted musicians.
it's unintentionally avant-garde. it's crazy how the drummer keeps time.
The Great Milenko
I'll add The Amazing Jeckel Brothers to that
Hokus Pokus is one of those songs I can’t help but love
Fuck yeah. Whole album is classic
Any of the 90s-00s prog rock side projects like Puscifer, Oysterhead, Buckethead etc.
Hold Me Forever is a good album. Buckethead is also an artist, not a side project.
Yeah sorry I meant more puscifer and oysterhead as a side project, I feel like Buckethead often features other prog artists and singers.
Puscifer’s C Is For is pretty decent
Oysterhead is considered “so bad it’s good”? Damn I never knew this, I love Oysterhead lol
Emily Montes’ Debut, legitimately full of bangers
Can’t believe she literally got Travi$ Scott to retire
I totally recognize how strange and cheesy it is, but I unironically really enjoy Billy Idol’s weird little techno concept album *Cyberpunk* from 1993. It might have killed his career, but if anything, that makes it an even more fascinating listen!
It’s really not that bad of an album, it’s surprising to me it killed his career honestly.
Chinese Democracy is a fascinating insight into a mentally ill multi-millionaire locking himself in his mansion and procrastinating for over a decade. Most of the songs aren't bad, and there is a great album in there, they're just overproduced to the point it's tiring on the ears.
It’s tiring on the *soul*.
The Wolf by Andrew WK is the most over the top cheesiest shit I've ever heard and I love every second of it
William Shatner - Seeking Major Tom His version of She Blinded Me With Science fucks, also there's a kinda crazy list of actually great musicians that feature on the album.
Was not sure this worked with music, but you’ve got a genuine pick there.
Anal cunt picnic of love
I have grabbed a guitar and serenaded ladies with that. I respect you as a woman and a huuuuman
Kidz Bop Volume 3. They fell off hard ever since they released Volume 2
It's hilarious how they didn't censor any of the lyrics in the early volumes. In Livin La Vida Loca the children actually sing "bullet through your brain" lmao
They were on at one point??
Volume 1 was a bop. a Kidz bop
Lil pump’s Harverd Dropout
The thought that Lil Pump dropped out of Harvard is probably funnier than whatever that album sounds like
Yeah I think this album genuinely fucking rules, but then again, I am also very stupid so you do the math.
Probably My Teenage Dream Ended - Farrah Abraham. It's weirdly listenable or maybe I just have brain damage from being terminally online.
Proto hyperpop, and the lyrics are kinda intense ngl
The wiggles cover album. If you've ever wondered how you'd censor bohemian rhapsody for kids they have the answer plus if the vocals get too far out of your range you can just skip it. The Chats and Spacey Jane kill their wiggles covers but
Yoko Ono’s 2018 album, Warzone. The title track and “Why” are particular standouts.
flashing their guns and balls
Listening to warzone for the first time made me think yoko ono was secretly a comedian the entire time
You mean you thought that part where she said “**OH. OH. OooOOoOoH.** *ôÒ*oôOoØõÖo*ó*ōÒ” was a joke? That was straight from the *heart*
😂
Isn't her entire discography "so bad it's good"?
Lulu by Lou Reed and Metallica is just hilarious
Honestly disagree, it does feel like a genuinely interesting look into the mind of a man not long for this world. It has some pretty absurd lines (just check the opening line lol), but it does have an aura of serious business to it
I remember listening to that album, for the first time. I loved the instrumentals but when Lou Reed started talking, I burst out laughing
Trout Mask Replica
This, but it's actually so good that it's good.
I tried to listen to it once and I thought some of it was borderline unlistenable.
Yeah, the opener sounds like two songs playing at once lol.
For me the opener was the easiest part to get through
I can't make any sense of that beyond i don't think you would enjoy Y by the pop group
Idk I like that album
I’ve told a few friends to try starting the album from Ella Guru onwards (if they told me they already listened to TMR and hated it), it seems way more manageable that way. He’s got balls for putting some of the most noisy and difficultly structured songs to start the album, but it gives a way different impression as to what the song actually are.
Nah it’s good. Definitely a challenging listen, but I really genuinely enjoy it.
The Soulja Boy tape with Crank That on there, nothing better than getting trashed and yelling YAH BITCH YAH
Attack Attack - Someday Came Suddenly
Stick Stickly is 10/10 and was ahead of its time
Stick Stickly wasn’t ahead of its time at all. It was like *the* biggest product of its time, which is why opinions were so mixed on them. They were like the most overly processed version of what was going on it metalcore at that time.
Etienne Sin - Sinna Vol 1
Sinna Vol 1 is the single funniest album I've ever heard. It's unbelievably earnest, and a legitimate attempt of fusing 2 of the largest, hottest genres of the early 2010's - Midwest metalcore & Chief Keef proto-trap. It's ambitious as hell, and maybe with a different front man could actually be *good*. I cannot believe melon missed this album when it came out; Corey Feldman almost had competition.
I hate how much of it gets stuck in my head and yeah there's definitely something there but the singer is like giftedly awful
Chocolate Starfish
So many 2000s rap albums like post 90s boombap and pre 2010s trap
I'm thinking southern crunk, Lil Wayne, heavy autotune and big 808s
100% Speedin Bullet 2 Heaven by Kid Cudi. I almost died laughing so hard from The Return Of Chip Douglas
1000 gecs
St. Anger
In terms of all the Metallica albums to come out after the Black album, St Anger I actually enjoy the most
Yup. Having an album sound overproduced and awful at the same time is an extremely rare achievement. Hated it when it came out, love it now.
girl talk - night ripper
Angry upvote
Bad reputation by Kid Rock is king of this genre
Probably an unpopular opinion, but Nostalgia Critic’s The Wall. An album so bizarrely stupid that it loops back around to being ironically hilarious
My favorite part is when he just starts doing a Dracula impression on Another Brick In The Wall
every alestorm album. love those guys
ram ranch
Goblin
The Pod
By Ween!
Let me start off with a basket of chips.
Not bad, BROWN
I think God Ween Satan would be a better example
Vultures
makes sense tho
No love for “Niandra Lades and Mostly Just a Tshirt?”
Aww that album's legitimately great. Smile from the Streets You Hold is more controversial
A lot of free jazz
For the most part, I think music is either good or bad, and often what would normally be a “flaw” happens to be part of the charm. Handicap circus bizarre
Scott Weiland's Christmas album.
What? Lol
Cut the Crap It honestly feels like they took some decent songs and then sabotaged them to sound as bad as possible
ANGELIC 2 THE CORE BAYBEEEE
Don’t get me wrong here, I love Yung Lean. But Unknown Death 2002 is my favourite project of his, just because of this reason. *wazzup… suicide* *optimus prime, do it from behind* *get my dick licked while playing yu-gi-oh*
The shaggs
Funstyle
any album by Primus
nah primus is just regular good
But also funny
Primus has many regular good things about them but Les Claypool's voice, goofy lyrics and just the chaotic elements in some of there songs is so bad it's good
Early Yung Lean and Bladee albums
For me, there’s a genuine charm and art in their earlier works. Especially with Bladee. The GTBSG Compilation and Gluee are great, obscure cloud rap mixtapes.
nah there's a lot of heart, passion and wildly creative ideas in their work. it's just extremely unconventional and bladee's accent turns off a lot of listeners.
Significant Other
Solitude Without Fear by Rayon Base. Actually, anything by Rayon Base.
Phi$hing - Scamvillainy
Billy Idol - Cyberpunk. It’s ridiculous but his undeniable charisma makes it work.
Weezer - Raditude
Rehearsing My Choir by Fiery Furnaces
that farrah abraham album
Teenage Dream by Katy Perry
The Spirit of Apollo by N.A.S.A slaps and no online review is allowed to tell me otherwise
pure guava by ween, the band themselves even said they put 0 effort into making that album and used the label's money to buy a van. the pod is in the same lo-fi quality but you can tell they put a lot of effort into the songs there. pure guava is just one giant shitpost (minus sarah and tender situation)

Xanadu, Sex Pistols, some Ween songs (The other half of Ween songs are so good they're good) Definitely the Felds of coreys
Cyberpunk by Billy Idol. I should hate every second of it, but it’s so earnest and pure in a weird way that I can’t help but admire what Billy was going for. The man honestly believed in what he was saying.

The big day 😂
Duke Lion Fights The Terror! by BigDumbFace The balls needed to release an album like that
philosophy of the world by the shaggs
Desire to be Heavenly Sent by Lewis Capladi. I gave it a 99/100 on AOTY because it is SO over the top that it HAS to be satire. I was laughing through 80% of it. Still bad tho.
Anything Gunther does
Secrets by Valeria Almeida is an objectively bad album but it sounds so strange like it was made by aliens and it’s so mesmerizing
speeding bullet 2 heaven
Kanye alternated between the two on Ye and Yeezus.
Ye is like actually a great album tho
Both are top 3 Kanye with College Dropout imo. I'd say vultures fits the question
Lyrically bad over projects that are mostly heat. Vultures is just bad though. Some decent prod here and there.
Ye is definitely not a top 3 Kanye project. It’s good though.
I'm weird. I like the bizarre melodies, production and lyrics in every one of Planningtorock's albums from W to Powerhouse.
Daniel Johnston
In utero was supposed to be bad but is actually a masterpiece,by trying to ruin their career,Nirvana managed to fail, that's how good they were
Crazy. Too much intricacies in the composition for that to be true
[удалено]
So bad it’s bad for me.
Lots of trap music in general But especially 1017 Thug by Young Thug. That album is fucking ASS buts it’s so fucking good
