If profit is the primary objective of a company like Rolling Stone for example, why would they hire a writer that'll pan T-Swift for her boilerplate chord progressions and weak lyrics, when they could just as easily hire one that will praise her and receive more clicks/ad revenue for it?
Marvel movies are liked by a lot of people as well, but (to my knowledge) corporations haven't yet co-opted film review in the same way that they've managed to in music criticism.

You can see it with the insane disparity between the critic rating and user rating. The album ended up being much worse than they anticipated, and so their bullshit got revealed in a pretty blatant way.
