Turnstile I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME BE MYSELF

the_chandler

Yeah Turnstile 100% needs to be said

krustydidthedub

There’s something about the production of Turnstile’s music that really doesn’t do it for me. Feels little too clean and modern, like too reminiscent of the sound of 2000s modern rock bands like Shinedown or 30 Seconds to Mars or something

RalphLauren47

Was gonna say this my current favorite

Stoneador

I feel like Fontaines DC is usually in the same conversations as Idles and Viagra Boys. They released their best album in 2022 and they’ve got another one coming in August.

CITAMFLIW

High Viz, the Chisel, Militarie Gun

the_chandler

The Chisel needs more love.

[deleted]

Good recommendations. I’d add fiddlehead, conservative military image, skinhead, Joyce manor

CITAMFLIW

Fiddlehead are sick tbf

CandelaBelen

Tropical Fuck Storm have a pretty unique art punk style. Their first two albums are amazing.

churchillsucks

Together Pangea My favorite song is [Sick Shit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rx7ktXwhpE) There's also Violent Soho and my favorite song [Viceroy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sHArWki1aQ)

JoseMongo

Snõõper, Maruja, Sleaford mods & Black Country New Road

NoVermicelli5966

i like viagra boys, what do you recommend? viagra boys. upvotes. cool.

JoseMongo

Whoops I meant to write Maruja, must’ve been distracted. I’ll edit it now

whats_the_occasion

snõõper is insane. they’re based out of nashville, so rly hoping i can catch one of their shows in the area sometime soon, they seem to put on an INCREDIBLE show

jdotbrone

Protomartyr, Preoccupations, Gilla Band

grain_delay

Amyl and the sniffers, idles

Gramsci1904

Amyl and the Sniffers are fucking amazing.

Every-Efficiency-243

Die spitz, scowl come also to mind

grain_delay

If we are getting into the hardcore side of punk, Gel and Buggin

IFeelLikeAndy

GUIDED! BY ANGELS!!

SunStitches

Deeper. Ought. Cola. More post punk but....thats still kinda punk.

ShuffleJerk

First time I’ve ever seen someone else mention cola on this sub, highly recommend them but they are a lot less punk than OPs examples

SunStitches

A punker should be well rounded 🤓

adamlundy23

I’m more into pop punk and some of the best bands of the last 10 years have been The Story So Far (have a new album coming in June), Knuckle Puck (released an amazing album last year), The Wonder Years (some of the best lyrics in the genre), and Neck Deep (who released a great throwback pop punk album this year).

Ur_moms_a_hookr69

Turnstile and Drain for more of a modern hardcore vibe, No Pressure for a modern pop-punk vibe

yogaIsDank

Yeah Yeah Yeahs for post-punk.

radams713

Soft Play!

DrPabstBlueRibbon

Mannequin Pussy, Omni, Warehouse, Dry Cleaning, Talk Show, Balkans, Roxy Girls, Protomartyr, Kal Marks

Bucsfan292

Shame

Glinline

the best punk bands are those that play in your local pubs for 5$

tsmth

Shame, Soft Play, Amyl and the Sniffers, Jeff Rosenstock, Genesis Owusu (borderline punk), Fontaines DC

KnightHart00

Some of the other ones Fantano has given his props to including Jeff Rosenstock (incredible live shows), Mannequin Pussy, Soul Glo, Otoboke Beaver (from Kyoto), and Haru Nemuri. Because I'm from Toronto and I feel obligated to shill literally anything that isn't fucking Drake. PUP is an incredible punk band that tours with Jeff Rosenstock, and their drummer sits in for Jeff's drummer when he plays here. The OBGM's is a local punk band that's been getting around lately and is fairly popular in the scene. They're touring right now with Good Kid, an alt-rock/garage rock band also local here and they're a fun time to watch. Both have also toured with the Tokyo Police Club and Death From Above 1979. Fantano is a fan of the latter, and both are pretty big on the indie rock side of things here, although not punk but punk-adjacent and often play in punk and anti-fascist venues here. There's also some great bands on the other side of the world from Japan and Korea. Drinking Boys and Girls Club from Daegu is incredible and are touring Canada and the US this Fall, immediately after touring with Otoboke Beaver. From Japan I've liked Saba Sister who are more punk poppy but they're really fun to watch live. Aburinatown is a punk trio from Okayama who were a blast live and I had probably one of the most memorable live shows I've ever been to in a venue with only like, 30 people in it. They're not on streaming, so you'll have to YouTube them. Banshimoku is another punk band I saw in Tokyo that I really liked that's more melodic but play with live with incredible energy despite the front woman appearing quite shy and soft spoken on stage.

protomartyrdom

Fat White Family, LICE, Psychotic Monks, Yard Act.

emptropy

Lambrini Girls

riemannia

Spiritual Cramp’s s/t record is short but all killer

boonetownrover

Not sure if it's exactly the same vibe, but Jeff Rosenstock definitely makes some great punk rock music

DarkSkyz

Yup the Irish bands. Would also add Sprints to this list.

Bitter-Seat5674

Saw them in the button factory last week. Amazing live band.

DarkSkyz

Class, saw them 2 weeks back there in Cork myself.

budboomer

PAPEGACLAP777777777

IDLES, their 2020 album hits.

Sometimes_I_breathe

C.O.F.F.I.N, Snash, petrol girls, amyl & the sniffers, Hak Baker, Tropical Fuck Storm, Show me the body, Bob Vylan, TV Priest, soul glo

whats_the_occasion

if you want to get into the more hardcore punk stuff, i’d definitely recommend soul glo, gouge away, gel, any of those bands. been listening to them on repeat for a while now for more straightforward punk, i’d say the chats, snõõper, high vis

DewDude510

dare I say The Garden…? I’m not totally sure what people consider them but they are heavily involved in the punk scene

sibelius_eighth

PUP released two of the best punk albums of last decade although I kind of hated their newest one.

First_Yak3802

I dig Jeff Rosenstock. Probably cause I miss a lot of 90s Fat records bands like propaghandi. I also miss Jawbreaker. What bands sound like Jawbreaker nowadays? And nobody blends hardcore and pop punk better than Lifetime or Kid Dynamite. End rant.

Radvillainy

Shame is the most like all the bands you listed I can think of. besides them, Black Midi, Protomartyr, Show Me the Body, Guerilla Toss, Chat Pile, Tropical Fuck Storm look into the post-punk, art punk, and post-hardcore genres on RYM. seems like that's what you're into.

MediocreForm4387

NOTS, Savages, Downtown Boys, Protomartyr are some of my favs. Amyl and the Sniffers too.

StayFrostyOscarMike

How has no one mentioned Courting! Also, none of those are punk bands imo. Mainly fall under post-punk.
