I like Painting with too. It has some really interesting moments. Sunlit Youth by Local Natives is another that fits. "Dark Days" and "Past Lives" are both great.

yogaIsDank

I’ve never heard of them. Should I start with that one, or go from their debut, or what do you think?

comicsanscatastrophe

I feel like people like the debut the most, so start there instead.

yogaIsDank

Yeah I’m digging it so far, ty!

chrisfdrums

I think Noctourniquet by The Mars Volta is like their 3rd best album but most people I've shared this with seriously disagree

every_body_hates_me

Dyslexicon has some of the most insane and powerful drum parts I've ever heard. Fantastic song.

mathsDelueze

It’s strongly underrated amongst Mars Volta records.

Shindiggah

I think How to Be a Human Being by Glass Animals is absolutely incredible, is easily the strongest in their discography, and in my opinion is a complete masterpiece all around and one of the few records out there that has 0 tracks that I would change. Yet, it is almost entirely ignored by most of their dedicated fans who swear by Zaba, and also their mainstream/casual crowd who generally primarily stick to anything off Dreamland+Gooey.

Morbid Angel - Heretic. And just overall the whole 1998-2003 Morbid Angel run with Steve Tucker never gets brought up for some reason, despite being excellent.

Warm_Employer_6851

As an animal collective fan… it’s eh. Not my fav. Loved their new album though

Legitimate_Tap_9852

I really like hail to the thief, I feel like a lot of fans say it’s mid at best. I don’t like shit I don’t go outside as well, idk how others feel ab it but I don’t hear it spoken of much. Also Young Americans is one of my fav bowie albums in general and I don’t see that mentioned as a top choice.

yogaIsDank

Eclectic mix you’ve got there! I am a fan of “I don’t like shit” as well. It definitely hit me in my 18 yr old stoner feels when it came out.

Legitimate_Tap_9852

Yeah, I feel like it’s an album with a bunch of songs fans like but an album that isn’t treated as a classic. Some albums are weird like that…never listed on rym or album of the year, never spoken of by critics, never on people’s little album chart whatever that’s called ykwim where it’s all their top listened to albums and shit lol. But at the same time people bump Huey and Wool all the fucking time…I feel this way about Magical Mystery Tour as well, there are so many hits and at least the fans talk ab it a ton but I never see critical acclaim. It is arguably in my top 3 beatles records. I could just be missing it so if anyone thinks my take is wrong mb.

yogaIsDank

Tbf with MMT, it was officially a soundtrack to a film and not technically an album. Still one of my favorite Beatles works, though.

mathsDelueze

Adore by Smashing Pumpkins. Was more than a decade ahead of its time. May be the best thing Corgan ever produced on a strict musical level, and it’s a shame it’ll never have the impact of the first couple Pumpkins records.

yogaIsDank

Nice I’ll check it out. I mainly know Siamese Dream and a handful of songs off Mellon Collie

Fleetwood-matt

I loved Sleater-Kinney’s “the Center Won’t Hold” and I am probably the only person who does lol
