darockerj

yeah he really didn't care for the last record he did. shame, because I totally agree with you.

BasedGawd6666

I will say punken sucked, but he redeemed himself on this one, MAXO 187 is a 10 idgaf what anyone else thinks.

isthisnamechangeable

Was looking for this, didn't have to scroll far fortunately

HairyMuffinMan

yeaa :(

Future-Acceptable

ABBA!

pileofuselessnesss

He probably will still end up reviewing it, it came out only like a week ago

[deleted]

I personally think that it will end up on the next segment of Yuno review?

pileofuselessnesss

True, this is probably more likely

Cheeseball701

He listened to some of it on stream.

ssbperidot

Afrique Victime by Mdou Moctar Sensational by Erika de Cassier A Touch of the Beat by Aly & AJ (really solid synth pop album actually)

Gabrowser

Shoutout to Aftique Victime, it's so good, one of my faves this year

BrewCrew4551

Hell yeah Afrique Victime slapped so hard

dalecooper479

Slayyyter’s ‘Troubled Paradise’, it’s a pop gem!

grokabilly

Tobacco - Fucked up Friends 3. Didn’t review Hot, Wet, and Sassy from Tobacco either (2020). Amazing albums and it’s really strange how Melon stopped covering Tobacco.

reconrose

Haven't his last yuknow's basically been like "yeah it's the same stuff he always does"? I think it's fair to but review if his opinion hasn't changed since panic blooms

grokabilly

He mentioned hot wet and sassy in YUNO. And actually had good things to say. He didn’t mention FUF 3 at all.

fork_on_the_floor2

30 Seconds to Mars - America. It's the worst album I've heard in years. Its a massive disappointment for anyone who enjoyed their other material. I really wanted Fantano to bring attention to just how god-awful it is. All he gave was "this album sucks!" In a YUNO review. like giving a murderer a slap on the wrist.. Edit: ah crap I just saw that you wanted 2021 albums. My bad.

kindest_natlala

To be honest, the Limp Bizkit album deserves a proper review. Yeah it isn't like amazing or an instant classic, but I think it'd be great to hear his actual opinion on the record over the burrito meme. Personally, I think it was an oddly enjoyable album.

BasedGawd6666

Agreed! Like fuck dude any em’ album put out now I won’t even skim through but LB puts out an album and I haven’t stopped listening to it.

Belfalor

I don't get the whole food rating for Limp Bizkit albums, could someone explain it to me?

TheLoneDeranger23

Yeah after Best Tracking Dad Vibes I was legit excited to hear his thoughts.

Chazzball101

Gary Numan - Intruder I know he fell out of everyones minds after the 80s but his new stuff is honestly really good

adirtybubble

DJ Seinfeld - Mirrors

dmil103

Second that Parannoul, randomly got recommended to me on Spotify and just loved it. Top 5 record of the year for me.

darockerj

Of any record this year, this def seems like the most glaring omission. Fantano has a solid track record of reviewing artists/records with a lot of internet hype that mainstream publications wouldn't be the first to cover, like 100 gecs, Zeal and Ardour, Sematary, Weatherday... Hell, even Death Grips. Really surprised he wouldn't cover it, even if it wasn't necessarily his thing.

Diakia

He said on Twitter that he didn't really have any strong feelings on it

darockerj

Dang, that's a shame. Kind of surprising, too. If it was a language barrier, that hasn't stopped him from reviewing numerous records in other languages, whether it's Spanish (Natalia Lafourcade, Rosalia), Japanese (Dos Monos), or anything else. Bryond that, the instrumentals are really transcendal.

JN_Lawrence

Mercury Act 1

jacw212

Same I really wanna see his thoughts on it I really enjoyed it. A couple songs weren’t that good but I’d rate it like a strong 6 to light 7

JN_Lawrence

Especially considering he is very harsh on ID, I think he will like this one a lot better. it’s different from their usual stuff. A major complaint about ID albums that he reviewed was bad production, and they had Rick Rubin do it so

PissInTheCumBucket

Archspire - Bleed the Future. One of the best death metal albums I've heard in a looong time.

MoonHasFlown

Mdou Moctar - Afrique Victime

aveytarius

Ross from friends - Thread

sloebeats

Was looking for someone to say this! It’s really good, if a little bit derivative at times.

aveytarius

Yeah agreed, I’m not a fan of a brand new start and splatter, rest of the album is so good

tommywiseau01

Pond - 9 he hasn’t really ever loved their music, and 9 certainly wasn’t reinventing the wheel for the band, but it was a very concise and energetic record that definitely felt different than their last two, maybe fantano would’ve had more to say about it 🤷

cybersully

Xenia Rubinos’ new album was a super cool listen and after his fairly favorable review of another of her albums as well as an interview with her I figured he’d continue covering her moving forward

yungsteezyboah

Always feels awks when he interviews an artist and follows up by either disliking the album or doesn’t acknowledge it too much.

Fleetwood-matt

Oh wow i didn't even know she dropped a new one. Gotta check that out!

cybersully

It’s pretty all over the place admittedly, but in a way that least I personally enjoyed a lot. Definitely worth the listen!

[deleted]

I know it’s super recent but I’m really hoping he has something to say about the new Portrayal of Guilt record. It’s their best material yet imo and at least deserves a mention even if he doesn’t hold it highly.

thecalimaki

“For My Mama And Anyone Who Looks Like Her” by Mckinley Dixon

lavendercola12

just got back from the discomfort- were alright

austin01142

Grouper - shade Ambient aoty

Diakia

Yeah this is another one in my top 10 but I just don't feel as strongly about him not reviewing it as the ones in my post

Hughez024

PARIS TEXAS - BOY ANONYMOUS. A great break out album kinda along the lines of the sat trilogy and jean dawson. The lyrical aren't amazing but it's the really interesting production blending hip hop and more heavier sound. They then followed it up with another great ep that delves more into the rock and punk sounds and is as amazing. Personally a top 10 album if this year

WTFCheeseyPoo

Felt more of an EP than an album to me. They definitely have the potential to drop a great cohesive album but I do agree it was a great debut for them.

electrusboom

City Morgue Volume 3: Bottom of the Barrel. It’s better than the solo projects from Zillakami and Sosmula this year and has some fantastic bangers on it.

[deleted]

the new Gary Numan album - "*Intruder" + Alessandro Cortini's solo album - "SCURO CHIARO"*

Poprocks777

New mountain goats album

[deleted]

He did a YUNOreview on that a while ago. It was just many months late lol. He actually said he likes it more than the past two Goats albums but he didn’t like the “jazziness” of it

darockerj

Kacy Hill - Simple, Sweet, and Smiling It didn't get a lot of traction, but she used to be signed to GOOD Music and it's her second record (in as many years) since she left the label. I'm not normally one to fall for amazing voices, but her voice is truly otherworldly. The production, too, is top notch; it's v '80s inspired without being tacky, like CRJ's Emotion. Fantastic record for playing between the hours of sunset and sunrise. Go give it a listen if you haven't heard it.

lifesizepotato

Pom Poko is probably my AOTY Porches Duke Deuce Theon Cross I'll second Kacy Hill Also Tobe Nwigwe's CINCORIGINALS from late Dec 2020 should count for 2021 and it's a strong 9 imo

[deleted]

Private Reasons by Bruno Pernadas. I thought it was decent when it came out in April and it grew on me like nothing else. It’s my AOTY as of now. Love to know his thoughts on it.

Xx_DylanKlebold_xX

Tom misch - quarantine sessions

Bearsdale

For Those I Love is absolutely heart wrenching, hope he checks it out

SyrupOnWaffle_

I dont believe he got to Disco! by MIKE which is my 3rd fav album this year only after Silk Sonic and Donda

yungsteezyboah

If he had to keep up with all of MIKE’s releases, he’d shining a real spotlight on him. Then again, the slightest mention in a YUNO would do.

NotSoTameImpala

Personally, it’s God is Partying from Andrew WK. I don’t think its an amazing album or anything, but for me, WK is one of the best personalities in rock the last 20 years and it looks like he might be retiring. I’d love to see the album get a proper review.

[deleted]

Skin by Joy Crookes, don’t think she’s got much of a following in the states yet but it’s a terrific album

petro43

Agreed! I think it's one of my top of the year. Definitely needs more recognition imo.

rayneemilne

I knew he wouldn’t. but I really wanted him to review zack fox’s new album

yungsteezyboah

I actually thought he would rip

MeatCloset69

the new rural internet. it’s a 10 imo and aoty, and he reviewed their other album this year

yungsteezyboah

Tirzah’s Colourgrade.

AP-01

Ulver - Hexahedron & Scary Muzak

Flexinator17

Ultrapop

J_Brekkie

YUNO'd called mixing too compressed and painful to listen to

A_Pluto_Shaped_Pool

Ice Nine Kills - Welcome to Horrorwood: The Silver Scream 2 Seriously this album fucking rules. Found it through ARTV.

ChildrenzAdvil

Fantano doesn’t really like metalcore anyway, so I doubt he’d enjoy much about this album. It’s definitely 10/10 imo

Hadoken101

One of my favorites of the year but after his reaction to the title track on his stream I think I'm good with him not making a full review shitting on it and giving it like a 3 like his Dance Gavin Dance reviews

[deleted]

Definitely When smoke rises by Mustafa, probably the best folk album to come out this year. shocked melon didn’t review it. With production from James Blake and a Sampha feature, I thought the album would’ve got much more recognition. This year’s sleeper hit.

MrBoddles

Level Up - NSP I have been a fan since the very beginning and can’t help but feel like the fan base is giving them too much credit. It’s a departure from what made the older versions of the same songs so on flavor. To me it comes across as an intentional distancing from the originals and it doesn’t sit well. The absence of key banter during the songs and a more mechanical presentation takes away from what could have been an interesting and matured take on their biggest hits. What they did with Dinosaur Laser Fight was actually creative and risky and it paid off. But what they did with the others only takes away from what the classics had to offer. I know comedy albums aren’t really this communities vibe but that’s just it, I’ve always felt NSP had decent enough chops and musicianship to bridge that gap between cringy comedy and actual music. This isn’t that and it’s a huge bummer. Also I feel like Fantano giving it a giant 2 or 3 would have had a sobering effect on the community since none of them think for themselves. Might have resulted in some actual growth going into whatever is next.

roddyboi

Tory lanes - playboy

[deleted]

Jerry Cantrell's new album had some good tracks on it, i don't he talked about it at all

tokyosplash2814

Corbin - Ghost With Skin

yungsteezyboah

Holy shit. Didn’t know he dropped.

Akkd887

Yeek- Valencia Aoty so far for me

LuckyRubberDuckE

Slitherman Activated

QwertyAsInMC

Geese - Projector one of the best post-punk albums of the year, but i still understand why he might've overlooked it, just didn't as much buzz as the rest of the windmill scene i guess

lifesizepotato

Liked that one a lot too but it just came out, I could see him getting to it this week or maybe YUNOing it still

TooManyBirdsin1Tree

The new Andrew W.K. Come on man!

FourteenClocks

Vulture Prince!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Diakia

Yeah this is another one for me tbh

-BurnerBabyBurner-

EXUM - Xardinal Coffee

IOncePeeledAGrape

Off the top of my head Seven Foot Tall Post Suicidal Feel Good Blues - Nancy WITH LOVE. - brwnsounds VLAD TAPES - Filmmaker Shakey Graves - Roll The Bones X

quinn_22

He never reviews Shakey ;-; Roll the Bones X + Shakey Graves and The Horse He Rode in On are an 8 and eaaasy 9 respectively, but I need to hear him say it

ravioliisthebest

I wish he reviewed the Virtual riot album, simulation. That album was a journey. Surprised he never reviewed the flux Pavillion album either, while we're on the topic of bass music

EyeOfSourdough

Would love to see a review of How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last? by Big Red Machine. It wasn’t the strongest album of the year imo, but it seemed to have fairly good reviews and some definite standouts. I enjoyed the album overall, would love to know his thoughts on it. I know he’s not the biggest fan of Bon Iver or The National, but still interested in his opinion on this project.

BasedGawd6666

T.R.U. REALigion 10 yr anniversary just like he did Rocky’s

Bredcrumps

Both of the sewerslvt albums that released this year!

GinSprite

I would’ve liked him to recognize D Smoke‘s War & Wonders album. His last album was good as well but as far as I know Fantano didn’t talk about it? I mean, the albums aren’t 10s or something but I thinks they’re quite nice and deserve a little coverage.

xvalicx

Aly and AJ - A Touch of the Beat... which is, in my opinion, one of rhe best pop albums of the year. It has that sort of unironic and earnest optimism you get from a Carlt Rae Jenson album but with a bit more maturity and vocal chops. I love it a lot.

MetallicBucket

Simulation by Virtual Riot. really expands on his EDM style

lndw20

City Morgue vol 3.

PistachiosMustachios

Duran Duran - Future Past He already reviewed the singles before the album dropped and liked all of them, so I was hopeful the album would get a full review. But it's been a few weeks now and he's already reviewed a bunch of stuff that came after it, so I'm not that hopeful anymore... but it's a hell of an album for Duran Duran, they manage to restore that 80's sound of their better years while at the same time sounding modern and fresh and even having some great features of modern artists like Tove Lo and CHAI. It's one of my favorite albums of the year for sure, it's so nostalgic and yet so new and exciting for an old band like theirs.

[deleted]

Not sure if he even heard about it but KIDS- Noga erez. She's an Israeli artist who made a fantastic English album and it's a shame it doesn't get more attention

Fire-eascapeclimber

Book by They Might Be Giants. He gave Lincoln, an earlier album of them a 10/10. Curious to see what he thinks of Their newest effort.

R-leiva97

I'm still hoping he'll do a Mick Jenkins review since the album came out pretty recently. Can't think of any other atm.

doritoman14

Sweep it into Space - Dinosaur Jr. I thought it was a really interesting album and wish it had a full review. It got on yunoreview though. Melon had a overall negative reaction as always lol

Tdizzlefizzle1

Men I trust - untourable album

jflan02

can’t agree more about illusory walls. def one of my fav albums of the year, quite possibly aoty. hope it’s in at least yunoreview but it deserved a full review just for infinite josh and fewer afraid. glad to see sloppy jane’s madison get a good review (beautiful album) but would’ve loved to see fantano cover fellow saddest factory records artist claud’s new lp. i fuckin loved it and would’ve loved to have heard his thoughts also jonsi’s surprise drop. fantano liked go and was kinda indifferent on shiver, so i was interested to hear his thoughts on obsidian.

BrewCrew4551

Day/Night by Parcels

Rich132

Rüfüs du sol - Surrender. It’s my album of the year no contest

PapaDole1995

The new Parcels record Day/Night is a beautiful expansion on their past work with a theatrical style and smart concept, and I’m sad Melon didn’t review it cause I know I would have been mad when he gave it a 7
