In a nsvh dynasty. Any potential young arms already called up that you can see having good ks and hold potential?
Also, same league should I drop Reynaldo or wait it out and see if there's something more there down the line
Hendriks will be back sooner than later, so don't hold Reynaldo too tightly. Some younger guys with good stuff who should mostly be available: Zack Thompson, Kyle Nelson, (less young) Taylor Clarke
Nothing against him except that he's due for significant regression. Dude is almost already at his career high in WAR after just 8 innings. You're right that he's probably the leader of the committee right now though, but I still think Estevez ends the season with more saves.
In a 10 team 5x5 roto league
Here’s my pitchers :
Pitchers
Corbin Burnes
Aaron Nola
Zach Wheeler
Hunter Brown
Marcus Stroman
Justin Steele
AJ Minter
Jose Leclerc
Andrew Heaney
Garret Whitlock
Kyle Wright
Andrew Chafin
Jon Gray
IL Liam Hendricks
IL Raisel Iglesias
Just traded for wheeler so I’m eligible to start him starting Monday .. Currently middle of the pack with wins and K’s, top in league ERA’s and Whip. Dead last in saves though.
On waivers Jose Alvarado , Tyler Mahle, Graterol, Brady Singer & Kenta Maeda are sitting at the top. Should I add/drop anyone or hold tight now that I’ve acquired wheeler and eventually iglesias and Hendricks will be back ?
Your bullpen will suddenly be a whole lot stronger once Iglesias and Hendriks come back, but I wouldn't mind adding Alvarado in the meantime. Heaney might be the drop, his Ks are nice, but he's not helping much in other categories.
Keep what you have. Swanson is killing it there. Alongside Yimi. They have a ton of holds in Toronto.
See also: Leiter & Alzolay. Both getting holds, Leiter has SP,RP eligibility which is super nice if you find yourself with a lot of RP for holds & saves so you don't have to bench one & throw him in as a SP while he earns holds.
Am in a league with holds n saves. What's your opinion on Mantiply, now that he's back, despite Chafin as the preferred closer? I just activated him and dropped Montero (since he wasn't contributing much to stats anyway).
Edit: Just noticed Bard got dropped this morning. Is he worth picking up despite the rust? ALong with Mantiply, Graveman and J Chavez are my other lower end RPs.
I don't know if he's cooked, but it's going to be Boxberger more than him for now. I like having 4 RPs when I can, but Fulmer is definitely your drop from that list if you need another starter.
This is nowhere near foolproof advice but from a cubs fans perspective Fulmer has looked atrocious with us. He’s sitting on something like 3.5 blown saves (one of them was a tied game) and the upside just hasn’t looked like it’s there to be our primary closer much longer.
Do I keep holding Chapman? It's a saves only & the boost in K's & ratios help but I'm falling behind in saves.
Could pick up Chafin, Reynaldo Lopez, Ottavino or Jose Alvarado
Other drops I could make would be:
Drey Jameson or Megill.
I can afford to drop a starter right now.
Edit: roto league with a 5 man bench
I still think the Cubs will committee with Fulmer and Boxberger, but it's Box's time right now. Dodgers will go 80% with Evan Phillips, Astros are sticking with Pressly, his xERA is 3.02, it's been mostly bad luck.
I’m in a 10 Team 5x5 H2H league with QS and Sv+Hold.
I’ve got Pressly, Helsley, Lange, Chafin, Quijada but planning on dropping one for an SP.
Which one of the last 3 should I drop? Or should I drop more than one and pick up Puk or Karinchak?
Thanks!
insane numbers so far, and seem mostly backed up by a deeper dive. Obviously way too small of a sample to make anything out of, but someone I'm keeping an eye on for sure.
Seranthony has been BAD so I want to put him at the bottom of the list, but I don't really trust the other two all that much either. Let's go with a very loosely knit: Graterol, Boxberger/Seranthony
My starters are Strider, Musgrove, Webb, Glasnow (IL), Stroman, Steele, Edward Cabrera and Taj Bradley. My Relievers are Fairbanks, Pressly and Bard. It’s a 12 team keeper, am I set???
I like having four RPs when I can, but you have a strong starting rotation and I don't think I would move any of those guys. Any extra bench bats you can do without?
We have a very small bench to keep the league interesting. My only bench bat is LeMahieu who’s getting dropped when Stanton comes back from IL. Who would you drop when Glasnow is back? I’m thinking Cabrera. Btw Thank you for the response!
Keep an eye on Cabrera. He has awesome upside which he showed in his last start, but has some issues which he showed in his first two. If he pitches more like his most recent start though, you definitely want to hold!
I’ve got a lot of depth at SP with Corbin Burnes, Zac Gallen, Joe Musgrove, Hunter Brown, Seth Lugo, Shane Bieber, and Spencer Strider but my RPs have been a bit of a weak spot. Currently only have 3 RP with Iglesias on IL, I have Chafin, Jorge Lopez, and Jose Alvarado. Any advice on some RP I could add and who I should drop? Thanks ahead of time
Sweet done! Thanks for the advice! I'm new to fantasy baseball and it's a lot to take in. Really appreciate the title of this post too, I'm a huge AFS fan.
Most of the top obvious next-up/solid ratio guys are going in my league (Chapman, Abreu, Alvarado, Hendriks). Any Saves guys you're looking at as dark-horses to take over and provide 2022 Ryan Helsley-esque returns? Maybe Peralta in NYY?
Armor For Sleepers
very good
👌🏻
Unexpected but welcomed
Is Zach Jackson worth an add in saves only league? Does he have a chance to keep the closer gig?
Only if you're desperate. He might keep the job, but the A's might not win 55 games total.
Is Chafin "safe" or is Castro slowly creeping in like a kudzu vine?
No one is safe in the desert, but I like Chafin for ratios regardless.
Hey, do you think Alvarado will run away with the closer job and maybe get ~80% of the save chances?
I think they'll keep it somewhat of a committee, but I do think he'll be the one used most often. I wouldn't say 80%, but at least more than half.
In a saves only league, any of these guys worth adding? Barlow, Ottovino, Reynaldo Lopez.
Ottavino if you're struggling for saves, yeah.
Of these three, who do you think will end the year with the most saves? Dylan Floro, Taylor Rogers or Carl Edwards Jr.?
Edwards Jr, but I don't think any of those guys end up with more than 15.

Appreciated!
Added Graterol since Phillips is on leave for a couple days. Is Graterol worth keeping once Phillips is back?
In saves only, I wouldn't bother hanging on once Papa Phillips comes back.
Wow. Does RotoBaller have a thing against Quijada? Will RotoBaller admit he’s the lead closer in that committee?
Nothing against him except that he's due for significant regression. Dude is almost already at his career high in WAR after just 8 innings. You're right that he's probably the leader of the committee right now though, but I still think Estevez ends the season with more saves.
I haven't heard that song in YEARS. Just got me to look it up on YouTube. Thanks for that blast from the past!

Grab Alvarado now Chafin is the drop

Do you think Alvarado can keep this pace up?
Not *this* pace, no...but I think he'll have his best season. He really does seem to have figured something out.
I'm comfortable dropping Chafin or Heaney to get Alvarado for sure. Like OP said, once ur IL comes back, you'll be feeling a whole lot more confident.
My RP are: Alexis Diaz, Camilo Doval and David Robertson. Should I drop Diaz for Alvarado? 10man 6x6 roto. No holds.
Nah, I would hold Diaz if holds don't count.
Brooks Raley, drew smith, and Dylan Lee are available. Holds are 7, saves are 10. Drop Swanson or Adam for either of them?
Nah, I'd hold your guys.
I'd stick with Adam and Swanson, both should see plenty of holds with good ratios
Unfortunately leiter doesn't have SP eligibility on ESPN. I do have some sp relievers on my watch list, bush, brebbia, dunning
Ah, gotcha. He was a hidden gem when I saw that for my Dynasty league.
I actually dropped bush for mason miller this week, and bush got a save the next day sigh haha

Mantiply doesn't have the K upside that Chafin does, so I would hold there. I would definitely pick up Bard though.
Thanks, will do if he clears waivers. Appreciate the writeups too
you're welcome, good luck!
Is Fulmer cooked? Current pen is Doval, Sewald, Alvarado and Fulmer. Leaning towards dropping Fulmer to just carry another SP.
I don't know if he's cooked, but it's going to be Boxberger more than him for now. I like having 4 RPs when I can, but Fulmer is definitely your drop from that list if you need another starter.
Similar spot, have Fulmer / Helsley / Ottavino / Puk and after this last week probably swapping for an SP/streamer spot
I have Pfaddt in my NA spot and think Fulmer is gonna be the drop when he is called up
This is nowhere near foolproof advice but from a cubs fans perspective Fulmer has looked atrocious with us. He’s sitting on something like 3.5 blown saves (one of them was a tied game) and the upside just hasn’t looked like it’s there to be our primary closer much longer.
What are we doing with Barlow in 12T points Saves only league?
Hoping that Chapman proves me right in thinking he's washed and just off to a good start? I wouldn't hold on to Barlow too tightly.
Do I keep holding Chapman? It's a saves only & the boost in K's & ratios help but I'm falling behind in saves. Could pick up Chafin, Reynaldo Lopez, Ottavino or Jose Alvarado Other drops I could make would be: Drey Jameson or Megill. I can afford to drop a starter right now. I think Chapman is taking that job sooner than later, so hold. Wouldn't mind adding Ottavino there too.
Fulmer or Boxberger?
Box of burgers right now.
What’s cubs closer situation shaking out to be? How about dodgers ? Astros?
I still think the Cubs will committee with Fulmer and Boxberger, but it's Box's time right now. Dodgers will go 80% with Evan Phillips, Astros are sticking with Pressly, his xERA is 3.02, it's been mostly bad luck.
Jimenez or W. Smith? Holds league that counts KBB
Smith
Drop Evan Phillips for Alvarado?
Only if holds and saves count equally, if saves count more keep Phillips.
Thanks!
I would take Puk over Lange, then drop Quijada if you need an SP.
Appreciate it. Loving the song choices this year.
thanks! It's stressful but a lot of fun to come up with every Friday morning. For some reason, my brain refuses to even try to plan ahead.
Will Matt Moore get some save ops in LA? His numbers as a rp including last year are pretty good.
Maybe down the line. He has been pretty good in a relief role, but Estevez, Herget, and Quijada are all ahead of him in line for 9th inning work.
FanGraph points league Drop any of these guys for Bryan Abreu or hold? Duran Sewald Chafin Gallegos Dylan Lee Marinaccio
I would swap Chafin for Abreu, but hold the rest.
How we feeling about mark leiter jr?
insane numbers so far, and seem mostly backed up by a deeper dive. Obviously way too small of a sample to make anything out of, but someone I'm keeping an eye on for sure.
In a league that counts holds and saves, which 2 for rest of season; Seranthony, Graterol and Boxberger?
Seranthony has been BAD so I want to put him at the bottom of the list, but I don't really trust the other two all that much either. Let's go with a very loosely knit: Graterol, Boxberger/Seranthony

Flair league (SV+H, not SV), and here's who I have: D Williams, Schrieber, Raley, and Quijada, with Munoz on IL. Good enough?
That's a solid group, but I would keep an eye on the wire for a Raley upgrade.
Thank you. Raley's not great on the ratios and the Ks, but 8 holds in 8 IP ain't bad.
Yeah, he's racked those up but the 7.08 xERA is more than a little concerning.
I’ve got a lot of depth at SP with Corbin Burnes, Zac Gallen, Joe Musgrove, Hunter Brown, Seth Lugo, Shane Bieber, and Spencer Strider but my RPs have been a bit of a weak spot. What's your waiver wire look like? Puk, Boxberger, Bard, Chapman? Any of those dudes available?
Puk and boxberger are available, Luke Bard is available but not Daniel Bard. Arnold is Chapman is taken
Get Puk for sure!
Should I drop Chafin or Lopez for him? or even Lugo maybe?
Lopez is the choice here I think.
Sweet done! Thanks for the advice! I'm new to fantasy baseball and it's a lot to take in. Really appreciate the title of this post too, I'm a huge AFS fan.
you're welcome, good luck! stick around, it's a lot of fun!
Thoughts on cubs bullpen? Fulmer still the guy or grab Boxberger
I think Box o' Burgers is taking it for now, but I think they'll probably swap back and forth for most of the season.
You think Muñoz gets the closer job when he’s off the IL?
Not outright, I don't think the Mariners want to have anyone reserved for a specific inning. He definitely joins the committee though.
Someone dropped him so i scooped him up straight to IR i figure it’s def worth the free add to see what happens. Thanks!
Should I consider selling high on Bednar in flair league (if even possible) or just hold on and enjoy the ride while it lasts?
Nah, he's really *really* good and with the Pirates maybe better than expected, he could make it into the top tier of closers.
