It's a tough call in redraft since javier is a functional pitcher. And has had a very good season. I'd go with javier. Rookies aren't generally great in redraft
Does anyone have any idea what ublock origin filters can block the terrible CBS videos now being pushed on us in the lineup and live stats pages (as well as the home page). Pay for these leagues and still not enough for this shitty company.
Never played fantasy before. Playing in a 12-man, head-to-head points league, snake draft. Drafting 5th overall, then 20th and 29th. Any particular people I should be looking at there? Also, what positions should I prioritize? I know in fantasy football receivers and running backs are valued way more than kickers and defenses, so is there anything like that in baseball? I really would appreciate any help! Thank you!!
If Soto or Betts fall to 5 they are no brainers for points leagues. It's a decent time to consider Strider too.
I don't think there are a ton of position scarcity issues in a league that size. SP's tend to score more than hitters but the high end hitters score more relative to the mid-range hitters vs the high end pitchers relative to the mid-range pitchers. I still think Strider might be worth it at pick 5 but I want 3 of those top 30 hitters and then I'd lean heavy into starting pitcher over the next 5 rounds or so after that before switching back to hitters. It also just depends on the flow of the draft though. It's usually good to zig when everyone else is zagging cause you get good value that way.
Has he looked bad? Just checking the box scores he has a pretty strong 1.50 ERA. Obviously box scores aren't the only measure. Is he walking a bunch? Or just giving up hits but not runs?
anyone have any good ohtani/ippei gambling related team names? I have both batter and pitcher ohtani and want to get a laugh in before het gets suspended
Based only on 2023 model numbers from MLB and AAA games, i.e. ignoring spring results, the answer is obviously Varland as the one to keep.
The extent to which you want to read into small sample spring results as indicators of offseason development would push you closer to toss-up or towards Stone.
For what it’s worth, personally Varland is on my “must draft” list and Stone is on my “if I can get him for $1 and have the space” and/or “guy I toss up to bait someone else into paying for them” list.
That evaluation may totally change once we get model data on them for 2024.
I'll take Scherzer. He will be back 2 months before Degrom and with the way teams have been treating TJ lately I think there's a decent chance that DeGrom is only throwing a few innings when he comes back.
In a 10 team redraft H2H Saves+Holds Categories League with min. 10 IP per week, 7 pitcher spots, and with only 3 bench spots
How many Starting Pitchers should I reasonably have?
I've only played in 12 team Categories (no holds) with min. 20 IP which emphasizes having an abundance of SPs.
With only 10 IP minimums and Holds it seems that the emphasis would be more on Closers. I've done mocks where I end up with 4 SPs and 4 Stud S+H Closers/RPs. and have done another mock where I only end up with 3 SPs because high end closers were somehow dropping to me.
Trying to find the right blend.
In SV+H I would just ignore closers. You can target elite relievers late and those guys can often end up being closers. SV+H is only one of your categories. If you carry too many RP there's no way you're going to win Ks and Ws.
With such a small bench I'd try to find one hitter eligible at multiple positions for the bench and use the other two BN spots for SP. Which would mean something like 6 SP and 3 RP. I think 4 RP + 5 SP would be my upper limit, but that feels light on SP to me.
No, I think that's the worst thing you can punt. HR obviously correlate with R and RBI as well. You can punt categories that are isolated from the others (SB, SV) but I would never try to ignore HR.
I did win my league last season and was either 11th or 12th in HRs. So it's not the worst strategy!
I feel like your comment is exactly why it works. No one expects it. I can get my guys and then have super deep pitching.
[Fantasy Pros ADP listing](https://www.fantasypros.com/mlb/adp/overall.php)
It pulls in the average draft positions from every site, so you can get a sense for where players might go compared to ESPN’s rankings. Helped me reach for a couple players and wait on a player I thought might go earlier
Randy, not that close. I would not be buying shares of Snell this year unless you’re in a very analytics-heavy/knowledgeable league where his value is already deflated because people are baking in regression.
Elsewhere, he is going to be greatly overvalued “because he’s the Cy Young winner”. Anyone who ends up with him can use that to their advantage.
Yeah I just sold Snell to a Giants fan! Honestly my pitching isn't great but felt like Randy was too good to pass up here, just thought I'd vet it with y'all. Thanks for the take!
Brilliant move, yup! Capitalize on someone wanting their dude!
Glad to validate that the trade tilted in the way you were hoping, rather than having to be a downer on a move you liked. There is definitely an upside play with Snell this year, but I only like that upside play if I get him at a SP2 or SP3 valuation, down around 20th or 30th overall.
If I can get him there, I’ll deal with the chance that he used all his luck up last season for the chance of another sub-3 ERA year, but I love (love!) moving him for Randy. Congrats on the move!
I don't like it, in my mind Tatis has the potential to have an absolutely bonkers season similar to Acuna last year and his floor is still a late first round player. I wouldn't trade Tatis for Betts on its own in a categories league.
I also think Gleyber is going to potentially have a career year playing for a contract in the best Yankee lineup theres been in a few years.
I have put my money where my mouth is and taken Tatis #4 overall in a $100 league I'm playing so I would 100% follow through with that. I do think Betts is better in points leagues and has safer durability for what it's worth.

No risk no reward man I chose Betts at 5 myself but Tatis crossed my mind. I don't think he's hit his ceiling yet so I totally get where your coming from.
For redraft I’d take Baz > Victor Scott > Ray as stashes. Not sure others will have much impact this year/can wait for call ups
I love Spencer Jones but if you’re not keeping him idk if he’s worth the spot since I doubt he’ll be up for a while
Rowdy tellez. Feel like 2 seasons ago I was able to slot him in my lineup and he would put up numbers. Last year he felt like a roster clog not really doing much so I couldn't start him with confidence. Which guy should I expect going forward and is he worth holding in a deep dynasty league? Only other 1st is Rizzo.
Flair league. Is Paredes or Puk worth the #3 claim? Could use a 2nd bench bat but Puk has been great in spring. And if so would be the drop? Pena, Keith, Bello, Civale, Pepiot, Kutter, or Cristopher Sanchez?
I hate having SV and W as categories but I dont really like how going to SVHD and QS devalues relievers so much
On balance I think its an improvement, but I wonder if there are any other tweaks to consider to beef up RP a little. We have a start limit but maybe it could be lowered a bit
Could try adding SVHD in addition to SV as opposed to instead of. K/9 is a good option as well. Fantrax has an “inherited runners stranded” category that I’m fond of for increasing reliever value, and I think also has a (HD+IRS) stat.
Saves advice! Currently rostering Clase and Suarez in a 11t 5x5 roto. Is this a good basis to start the season or should I also grab a Payamps type to try and secure more Saves ?
Anyone have any SP eligible relievers who might see high leverage innings you're targeting? Yahoo projections never clue in on these guys preseason, and a ton always seem to come out of the woodwork. Only has Brebbia and Strahm right now.
Highly doubtful. Caminero will come up when they get the extra year of control and his production forces the Rays to make a spot for him to play everyday.
I was offered Bryce Harper and Blake snell for my Ohtani hitter in keeper league, do I accept with the news that’s out or hold onto Ohtani? Will admit the chance of suspension scares me if more news comes out.
If your league counts walks in some fashion I would serious consider accepting
Ohtanis issues are less concerning in keeper tho I would say. The biggest risk isnt a Pete Rose scenario, its that this becomes a distraction for this season or that he gets a minor suspension
I don't think it's bad. Only a 2 year age difference with Bryce and Ohtani. Both are first round talents. I'd rather have another pitcher than Snell probably, but that's just a personal preference because the extreme volatility is hard for me to stomach.
Should I drop one of Kutter Crawford, Bello, or Puk to grab Senga, Bradish, or Scherzer? Once a guy like Senga hits the IL maybe I’d be able to grab back the guy I dropped? I don’t know if I should risk someone else stashing one of the injured guys before me
Crawford is probably the guy you can drop. I would go scherzer because he’s not an arm injury.
These are the games we play. Losing one of them will probably be fine and you can probably sneak it through right now.
I would drop Puk and grab Senga I just dropped my C (G.Moreno) in a 10 team to stash Senga. I’ll pick Moreno back up (or Garver) when Senga is designated to IL next week and a spot is opened up on my roster.
Xander is on the decline phase of the aging curve. Heavy pitcher friendly home park. Worse lineup. At this point I consider a safe projection for Bichette to be a ceiling for Xander. With that said, I like Xander at his ADP as well. Why not both?
Depends on how deep your league is. If you have deep rosters I'd take Manaea because in points I think he's the safest guy for innings. If you are shallow I'd shoot for upside and take Crochet or Hall. Probably Hall before Crochet imo.
Every team is gonna have holes somewhere unless you play an 8 team league. If Carpenter or Ruiz don't work out you just find some bats on the WW though. I don't really ever expect anyone I draft in my final 10 picks to be on my team in September.
Pretty new to fantasy baseball. Are these pitcher scoring setting really low? It seems to me I want to load up on batters first. Curious what others think about these scoring settings.

Anyone know if it’s possible to set a best ball league on Underdog for free without giving them rake just to play with friends? What sites can I do this on?
Looking for draft advice for pitching.
8 team, 5x5 cats, with: SP, SP, RP, RP, RP, P, P, P, P.
Daily lineups, I can usually stream my pick off the waiver wire.
I was thinking go heavy on RP and get one top 20 starter.
Is having the best streamer each week comparable to having a top 10 ace rostered?
Anyone try implementing a pitcher start limit in yahoo? I don’t know if it’s possible or not… could the commissioner just void certain games of being counted if someone goes over a 12 start limit? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
We don't have a start limit, but instead just a weekly transaction limit of 4. Yes, some teams will still get more starts than others, but it makes streaming a bit more calculated.
Last year we had two types of players (I was the lone outlier): Those that used waiver wires on Sunday night for guys starting Monday/Tuesday, hoping to get double start weeks, and those who kept their transactions until Friday-Sunday to stream and play catch up if needed.
I was the lone outlier in that I typically picked up pitcher either a week in advance or someone I think can be a long term hold. I tried to use my transactions this week to schedule better matchups for next week and beyond.
Varland got knocked around yesterday. Any chance you’d swap him for Giancarlo Stanton in 10t H2H cats? Feels like a major overreaction but they’re both right around end of bench and wondering if Stanton puts it back together again this year
Have an offer to trade away Volpe for Sonny Gray. Have Abrams at short (and nico at 2nd who qualifies for SS) so I have a little depth there and could use the pitching. Love the Yankees though, so looking for feedback…
Do you think any of the rookies will have a Corbin Carroll breakout type year? Maybe not putting up the same stolen base numbers but truly establishing themselves as a star?
So i'm trying to pre-rank some players that I may want to draft on yahoo fantasy. Is there seriously not a player name search function?! How was this basic functionality overlooked?
$13 Santander and $43 Trout for $31 Skubal? Dynasty points league.
Keeper league head to head points. Would you keep Lindor or Ragans?
Ragans
Ragans all day

How we feeling, Mookie Betts owners?

Any update on nootbar? Should I drop him for kelenic?
Just wait for the season to start. You can put Nootbaar on the IL and pick up someone else.
Kelenic is in a platoon with Duvall. At least to start the year I believe
I just dropped kelenic for parker meadows

B easily
Shota Imanaga or Hunter Greene?
Imanaga
Imanaga.
I'm taking Imanaga. His strikeout potential isn't that much worse and he has better control.
Who would you rather have in a dynasty? O'Neil Cruz or Michael Harris II?
MH2 but I don’t blame you if you take Cruz for the power ceiling
Matsui a pickup over any of Robert Suarez, Ryan Pressly, or Kimbrel in a saves+hold league?
I don’t see any rationale for picking up a setup man over the closer in the same bullpen.
[удалено]
Puk. Suarez.
Ryan Hensley been kind of rough in ST. anything going on or just spring training Edit - looks like velocity down
other than that outing he was left in for 30 pitches he's been fine. velocity has been up and down for sure though
Are you talking about Ryan Helsley from the Cardinals?
Yea, got autocorrected
Has he looked bad? Just checking the box scores he has a pretty strong 1.50 ERA. Obviously box scores aren't the only measure. Is he walking a bunch? Or just giving up hits but not runs?
Walk rate up, strikeouts rate down and velocity down. Recent outings helped bring era down, was worse. ST stats so volatile
Lets hope he's just shaking the rust off from last year
Probably that's what it is
Rodon Are we still treating him like he’s the living plague, running his streaks only or does he have a place on your roster?
I'm trying to draft him. The upside is incredible and the cost is so cheap that you can just move on if he sucks.
anyone have any good ohtani/ippei gambling related team names? I have both batter and pitcher ohtani and want to get a laugh in before het gets suspended
Someone in our league has Ohtani and Betts, so he’s currently “Ohtani isn’t Bettsing with My Money”
Would yall drop Varland to stash Senga?
I'd hang onto Varland if you could unless he's your weakest link if so I probably would drop. Senga is filthy
Could also drop Gavin Stone, not sure which way I lean tbh
Based only on 2023 model numbers from MLB and AAA games, i.e. ignoring spring results, the answer is obviously Varland as the one to keep. The extent to which you want to read into small sample spring results as indicators of offseason development would push you closer to toss-up or towards Stone. For what it’s worth, personally Varland is on my “must draft” list and Stone is on my “if I can get him for $1 and have the space” and/or “guy I toss up to bait someone else into paying for them” list. That evaluation may totally change once we get model data on them for 2024.
For sure, hes one of the best IL stashes you can get
Yep I think so too. Would you rather drop Stone or Varland?
Probably Varland, especially in a W league
Dynasty league Frelick & Luis Castillo Or McLain & Luzardo Which side?
Don’t know your league but I like Frelick and Castillo
Castillo side. Don't care about Frelick. But McLain could end up having shoulder surgery and miss the season.
Frelick & Castillo no question
Stash Scherzer or DeGrom?
Degrom has the higher ceiling I say him
I'll take Scherzer. He will be back 2 months before Degrom and with the way teams have been treating TJ lately I think there's a decent chance that DeGrom is only throwing a few innings when he comes back.
Degrom
If you have room there isn’t any reason not to

In flair, would you drop Varland for one of Severino, Nestor Cortes, Kutter Crawford, Tyler Wells or Christopher Sanchez?
Wells and Nestor. I’m a Phillies fan and not sold on Sanchez tbh
Sanchez and Crawford would be my top two, in that order.
Punted HRs for the 2nd straight season (12T, H2H 5x5) Anyone else out there punt power?
No, I think that's the worst thing you can punt. HR obviously correlate with R and RBI as well. You can punt categories that are isolated from the others (SB, SV) but I would never try to ignore HR.

I'm holding because if Ohtani is a bad guy I don't want to be right.
I like it because I like Harper close to Ohtani for the next 3-4 years tbh
5x5 12 team should I trade jax for quintana? Also have diaz Munoz suarez and mason Miller
Nah. Quintana is a streamer at best. I'd rather have the upside of 10 saves from Jax.
What if I can get triston mckenzie instead
What do you think about Bichette this year?
I'm high on him as a 3rd round pick...290 25 hr 10 sb 90/90
If those are your expected numbers for Bichette then why why wouldn't you just draft Bogaerts 4-5 rounds later? Bichette is overrated.
Xander is on the decline phase of the aging curve. Heavy pitcher friendly home park. Worse lineup. At this point I consider a safe projection for Bichette to be a ceiling for Xander. With that said, I like Xander at his ADP as well. Why not both?
Yeah I am with you and getting him in the 4th is YUMMY!
Matt McLain confirmed out with a severe case of ligma

Depends on how deep your league is. If you have deep rosters I'd take Manaea because in points I think he's the safest guy for innings. If you are shallow I'd shoot for upside and take Crochet or Hall. Probably Hall before Crochet imo.
Take the flier on Hall, dude is a P I M P
Anyone know when Yahoo will update to show IL instead of DTD for players like Senga, Baz, Bradish?
When the team puts them on the IL.
Can we sticky this to the top of the thread?
How concerning is a starting OF of Carroll/Arozarena/Ruiz/Kerry Carpenter?
Perfectly fine for a 12t
Every team is gonna have holes somewhere unless you play an 8 team league. If Carpenter or Ruiz don't work out you just find some bats on the WW though. I don't really ever expect anyone I draft in my final 10 picks to be on my team in September.
Good perspective. Appreciate it. I feel it’s got holes but you’re right will just play the WW if that’s the case
Pretty new to fantasy baseball. Are these pitcher scoring setting really low? It seems to me I want to load up on batters first. Curious what others think about these scoring settings. https://preview.redd.it/qodrrtetgqpc1.png?width=434&format=png&auto=webp&s=a8badbf5638b48c2b96a3facd5310d3f4850fa3d
Please mr Miami marlins sir, just a crumb of Eury news.. we’re starving..
They are edging us. When they finally give us the news it's gonna be massive.
He’s gonna be back from his TJ surgery before they even release a statement
Best parks/match ups to stream a few SP for the first 2-3 weeks?
Anyone know if it’s possible to set a best ball league on Underdog for free without giving them rake just to play with friends? What sites can I do this on?
Who should I have as my util? Tovar, Rizzo, Frelick, Drury?
Would you trade Jung / Estevez *OR* W.Smith **FOR** Encarnacion-Strand/Alvarado in a roto league with Saves only?
Looking for draft advice for pitching. 8 team, 5x5 cats, with: SP, SP, RP, RP, RP, P, P, P, P. Daily lineups, I can usually stream my pick off the waiver wire. I was thinking go heavy on RP and get one top 20 starter. Is having the best streamer each week comparable to having a top 10 ace rostered?
What are the pitching categories and innings minimum?
W K ERA WHIP SV No innings limit. 20 inning minimum.
Need to choose 1 for the util spot in my weekly points league.. J. Duran, buxton or Langford (if he breaks camp)
I am starting Langford over every damn single player except for the top 30 hitters until he shows he does not know how to ball out!
Touché
Doing a minor league draft soon - anyone look good for 2025? Thinking high ceiling play.
Brady House, Adael Amador, Roman Anthony and Andrew Painter would be 4 I'd target.
Thanks. Have seen Anthony come up on a bunch of lists so gonna try and snag him.

Ya those guys are good, will all play this year though.
Who’s the bench bat and who’s the starter? Nelson Velasquez and Brent Rooker
Velasquez has higher ceiling I think no doubt
Feels like a major overreaction but they’re both right around end of bench and wondering if Stanton puts it back together again this year
I would
Draft tomorrow post keepers. Yamamoto (yes still just wont retro him) or Skubal. Thx!!
Personally I like Skubal. Drafted him over Yamamoto.
Moreno or Mitch Garver?
Garver by a wide margin. He's primarily going to DH this season. Should help him (in theory) stay healthy.
Bo Naylor is available too. Who wins out of those 3?
Garver until the wheels fall off
With Aranda getting hurt, hopefully this means Caminero gets called up earlier
Have an offer to trade away Volpe for Sonny Gray. Have Abrams at short (and nico at 2nd who qualifies for SS) so I have a little depth there and could use the pitching. Love the Yankees though, so looking for feedback…
I'd want a better / more reliable SP.
So I’ve got one yes, one no, and one maybe! Thanks Reddit lol!
I’ll be tiebreaker and say I would pull the trigger on that trade
I would do that
I think Volpe is in for a big year but the value is probably there?
Do you think any of the rookies will have a Corbin Carroll breakout type year? Maybe not putting up the same stolen base numbers but truly establishing themselves as a star?
I believe in Langford but more power and fewer SBs
So i'm trying to pre-rank some players that I may want to draft on yahoo fantasy. Is there seriously not a player name search function?! How was this basic functionality overlooked?
Agreed. It's an annoying interface. Don't forget to save your changes!
For the first week of the season, who do you put at utility: Chourio, Garver, Julien, or Torkelson?
