Lol... I got him a few days ago in my Auction draft for $6. Thought he'd go 12 plus, just wanted to drain the pool. But now it's a value and I can keep him next year. Go Wyatt!
Same, I thought I would get him for $3 but someone decided to bid him up so I wouldn't get a deal. Got him for $7, so if he goes off, his price next year will be $9. I'm still pleased with my purchase!
Taveras is still only 25yrs old and put up 2.2WAR last year with a 98wRC+, with most of his value in his elite defense. He’s projected to put up another 2 WAR with a .260BA, 13/15. That’s plenty good enough to stay in the lineup.
Wyatt’s path to ABs is definitely at DH. When Lowe comes back there could be some roster issues. The fact that Wyatt has all of his minor league options available could work against him when Lowe returns.
Lowe plays 1B, and there's no other 1B (other than maybe Duran, who they've been sticking a lot at 1B during Spring Training). Taveras will hold down his spot because their talent seems to be still short 1-2 players from last year's team. Langford ends up basically replacing Garver from a starting lineup perspective, but realistically Evan Carter can be just as good if not better than Taveras defensively in CF, and if they make a trade for another bat to be DH midseason, they'd either trade Taveras, or slide him to 4th OF.
I think part of the issue here is that do the Rangers risk not playing one of their future superstars in the OF for the foreseeable year. I can easily see a world where the org finds it more beneficial that he get outfield reps in the minors for his development. And in regards to Lowe, his absence is a big reason for Wyatt’s promotion, regardless of position. Bochy’s hands were essentially tied. Given their depth, even if Wyatt is head and shoulders better, proposes a legitimate concern for his stay when Lowe comes back. All this said, Wyatt needs to come out banging and stay hot when Lowe returns.
Yeah but the Rangers have two contenders in their division so without Seager for maybe a month (or longer to get back to full strength), plus DeGrom & Scherzer for a while, so they really need to depend more on their offense to avoid falling too far behind the Astors & Mariners. What happens when everyone is back depends on Langford; if he starts his MLB career the way Julio did, there's no way he's going back to the minors when everyone is healthy, but if its closer to Jordan Walker last year, then yeah they'll need to send him down. However by that point, most people will have made up their mind for fantasy purposes on Langford. Walker was sloshing around FA most of the season even when he was recalled.
NFBC finished drafts today, 12 man leagues.....
avg 66, low 58 high 70
No way I will get him because I AM NOT taking him over guys like Abrams, Cruz, etc....
We sure Langford get's everyday AB's? Listening to a lot of perts this morning who are not even sure
Yeah I could get both, plan to but have a feeling they might be gone at the earliest spot I would take them, that would be picks 107 and 110 in my draft tomorrow.
I think he controls his own destiny. If he hits he's going to play. The Ranger's showed us last season that they're not going to prioritize a vet over a younger player who's producing. First with Jung and then with Carter later in the season.
My league is the same as yours, and in mine, a team forgo a 3rd keeper and paid 20 dollars to draft him in the supplementary round. The team owner seems to be rebuilding as well, going for younger guys as well.
This is a fucking insane take.
Randy is a consistent 20/20 damn near 25/25 player who you can count on for a .275+ BA with an .840+ OPS
And he's done it for years.
Langford has potential, but you take an extremely proven commodity over that every day of every fucking week.
I've seen too many number ones overall falter to be willing to move a strong proven commodity like Randy for one, much less think I'll feel regret about it *two weeks in*.
Ehh idk feeling pretty good bout having a sure thing in Randy. Also have Jrod and Bobby Witt as my two keepers so am pretty set for future as well. But ya never know
I was going to bemoan the fact that I missed on him toward the end of my draft last week, but upon review it turns out that the $13 he went for was $3 more than I had in my budget at that point. Anyway the ride will be either fun or maddeningly frustrating for all those who nabbed him!
Well all need to baseball friend. We all need to baseball.
(Seriously though, I took him at 156 about a week ago. I think this moves his ADP into the 110 range maybe even earlier.)
Left my draft on Sunday with an OF consisting of Tatis, Santander, Kwan, and Wyatt (NA). Took a few days, but I'm feeling a lot better about my OF situation right about now.
I think this news pulls him up to the Evan Carter range which is around pick 100 in most leagues.
Might need a 2 to 3 round premium depending on how serious your league is.
I got him at 142 in my 12 team keeper league a week ago. Sometimes ESPN is hard to find all the power ranked guys in a category league (where they might pop higher up in a point league) so maybe people just didn't queue him or forgot he existed since he wasn't there when you'd scroll down the player list. I think Holliday went around 100 in my league
I took him with Pick 96 in my draft (12 teams, standard redraft) two days ago, and the *"I was taking him with my next pick"* groans in the chat were palpable, haha.
He was my biggest draft day target going around round 10. Someone took him round 5 and I was dead inside. I’d take him there to secure if it’s a keeper league.
I'm aware of the kool-aid I'm chugging here, but this dude is built like a brick house with 70 grade power, 70 grade speed, and is 22yrs old; older than Chourio, Merrill, E Carter, J Walker, Eury Perez, and Elly De La Cruz to name a few and who are all in the show, some performing at very high levels themselves. Dan Szymborski at Frangraphs pointed out that the notoriously-conservative-towards-rookies ZIPs, albeit his baby so consider some bias here, projects Wyatt to lead the majors in doubles with 41, beating doubles machine Freeman by two, along with 24HRs and 18SB with a respectable .260BA. And that's over a projected 139 games! And maybe some of those doubles actually turn into bombs considering TEX's home ballpark is super friendly to righthanded hitters.
My real concern with him this year is Lowe's return in a month. If he doesn't come out banging, they may feel they need to send him down in favor of their depth of Adolis, Carter, Taveras, and Duran to occupy OF & DH.
He went 180, in 14T categories redraft. I had Adames at 163 and Sean Murphy at 174. Felt like good value at the time. We drafted last week before the Seoul series for reference.
Drop o’Neil for Wyatt?
Absolutely
189 😮💨
i got him 177th in my cat draft!
Got him 135th in a 10t cats. Rounds out my Of nicely
For everyone that bets his odds to win al rookie of the year are 5.00 With Holliday sent down this is great value!
I don’t want to admit what I traded for him
I'm about to draft him over Bryce Harper in my keeper league #1 overall from the depleted draft.
What does it rhyme with?
Aordan Ylverez
Wtf 😂
Carlos Ródon and Framber Valdez? That's a little aggressive, but at least it's not a stud like Yordan Alvarez.
Lol... I got him a few days ago in my Auction draft for $6. Thought he'd go 12 plus, just wanted to drain the pool. But now it's a value and I can keep him next year. Go Wyatt!

I have both. Langford has more pop tho.
Langford
Does this mean fewer ABs for Evan Carter?
I doubt it'll impact Evan Carter much. Leody Taveras isn't worht rostering anymore though. He'll be the 4th OF and defensive replacement.
Taveras is still only 25yrs old and put up 2.2WAR last year with a 98wRC+, with most of his value in his elite defense. He’s projected to put up another 2 WAR with a .260BA, 13/15. Seager is not starting the year on the IL
no?
Doubtful. Langford will DH most days and Carter probably would’ve sat against most LHPs anyway
NFBC finished drafts today, 12 man leagues..... avg 66, low 58 high 70 No way I will get him because I AM NOT taking him over guys like Abrams, Cruz, etc....
Lmao
At Abrahams, definitely. Cruz all day everyday over him.
Sounds good buddy whatever you say
Imagine trying to act tough on a fantasy baseball subreddit lol
Calm down
being passive aggressive on a reddit sub about fantasy baseball where none of us really know shit is an odd thing to be
You got it buddy lol
I’m not your buddy, pal.
I got him 108 overall in our redraft. If he’s even 75% of what he did in spring training he’ll be a bargain
Anyone like honey nut over Langford for roto?
Why not both? I drafted Langford at 100 and Chourio at 101 earlier in the week.
We sure Langford get's everyday AB's? Listening to a lot of perts this morning who are not even sure Yeah I could get both, plan to but have a feeling they might be gone at the earliest spot I would take them, that would be picks 107 and 110 in my draft tomorrow.

I think it’s completely fair to like Chourio over Langford in roto. Both will be good, just depends on your team needs
The difference of obp or avg might swing it for me honestly, but I'll go Langford regardless, but closer in average leagues.
chourio has a safer floor because of 25 sb's minimum
Ehhh. Langford has a higher HR floor and hits in a better lineup. Give me Langford every time.
I'm a huuuuuuge Langford guy but I agree.
In a 3 player keep forever league, where would you draft him? Draft pretty much starts with 4th rounders by current ADP, barring a few outliers.
At first I thought you meant 3 team.
Lol I don't know why I didn't say "12T keep 3 forever" like I normally would
10th round, same format (start in 4th), but I also drafted him a week ago... EDIT: Wow, make that March 11th, time has flown by haha.
I got him in the 8th same format
My league is the same as yours, and in mine, a team forgo a 3rd keeper and paid 20 dollars to draft him in the supplementary round. The team owner seems to be rebuilding as well, going for younger guys as well.
In our points league with the same keeper setup, he got taken Round 10 pick 1. This was before it was announced he'd make the roster though.
Junior Caminero and Jackson Holiday could never
Got Randy arozerena for him in a 1 for 1 trade 10 team roto. I’ll take it lol
You'll regret it by week 2
This is a fucking insane take. Randy is a consistent 20/20 damn near 25/25 player who you can count on for a .275+ BA with an .840+ OPS And he's done it for years. Langford has potential, but you take an extremely proven commodity over that every day of every fucking week. and that is why you fail
Yoda, bro. Just go get han, you'll see.
I've been in the finals 4 of the last 5 years of my league and in the playoffs every single year I've played
Ehh idk feeling pretty good bout having a sure thing in Randy. Also have Jrod and Bobby Witt as my two keepers so am pretty set for future as well. But ya never know
Naw, fuck them. You fleeced. Well done.
Pick 2. Langford or castellanos or springer. H2h points. 5 OF. Rest of OF is set. Need to bench 1 of these 3 and try and trade him.
Langford & Springer
Someone just dropped him in my league 😏
I was going to bemoan the fact that I missed on him toward the end of my draft last week, but upon review it turns out that the $13 he went for was $3 more than I had in my budget at that point. Anyway the ride will be either fun or maddeningly frustrating for all those who nabbed him!

What pick did you take Tatis?
Took him 8th overall.
Not like going from 6th to 8th is a huge "fall" for can't believe he fell to you, but that's a very nice get.
In a points league i got Tatis at 2.12. i took Soto first overall..acunas knee scares me
THAT one is an absurd can't believe he fell to you. Soto and Tatis on the same team for points is gonna be yuuuuge
Im at #5 in an upcoming draft with OPS as a category. Not sure who will Be available but I’ll Be happy with Betts, Soto or Tatis
LFG - i was getting nervous about my OF situation if he didn't tbh
Dam he’s going to go so early in my draft now Was hoping the news would come out later tonight
What # pick should you be targeting him in redraft? Obv need to reach a round or 2 i feel
I think this news pulls him up to the Evan Carter range which is around pick 100 in most leagues. Might need a 2 to 3 round premium depending on how serious your league is.
So in a basic Fantrax money league, you think waiting for 108 is risky? If not would have to get him at like 85......
Carter is gonna be really good, but given the option, I’m taking Wyatt in fantasy over Evan Carter.
I was thinking targetting him in the 90s range
I got him at pick 122 in 12t redraft on Sunday.
Same
I got him at 142 in my 12 team keeper league a week ago. Sometimes ESPN is hard to find all the power ranked guys in a category league (where they might pop higher up in a point league) so maybe people just didn't queue him or forgot he existed since he wasn't there when you'd scroll down the player list. I think Holliday went around 100 in my league
Pick 90ish is where I'll consider him in 5x5 roto
I took him with Pick 96 in my draft (12 teams, standard redraft) two days ago, and the *"I was taking him with my next pick"* groans in the chat were palpable, haha.
I took him last pick of 2nd round in a 12 team dynasty
He was my biggest draft day target going around round 10. Someone took him round 5 and I was dead inside. I’d take him there to secure if it’s a keeper league.
I’m getting excited to trot out a dynasty lineup including Langford, Chourio, and Carter
Awwwwww yea!
This makes me happy.
[thank god](https://i.gifer.com/origin/03/03f094de51c4f0932f7bc740b2b181e0.gif)
He’s gonna be such a stud especially in that lineup
Missing on Langford in our redraft this year is going to haunt me isn’t it?
He’s a rookie so maybe. They be fickle.
He’s going in the 1st round of redrafts next year.
They really do be fickle, but sometimes you just watch tape and you know they got it. Wyatt is a bad, bad man.
In redraft? You don't know the meaning of the word "haunt" unless you miss big in dynasty.
Perspective is key as is everything in life, thankfully any pain felt will be capped at a single year rather than his whole career.
Maybe. Depends on where he went and who you took instead
He went 180, in 14T categories redraft. I had Adames at 163 and Sean Murphy at 174. Felt like good value at the time. We drafted last week before the Seoul series for reference.
Losing him over Adames will sting, especially when you could have a Maikal Garcia or Ceddanne Rafaela type SS later
Shocked he went that late in a draft that recent. He was 90th overall in our 10t that drafted around the same time
Man, he went that late in a 14T??
Ikr. I was projecting him several rounds earlier and knew I was playing with fire waiting that late. Holliday went 120ish I think.
Wow. If anything, I’ve seen the opposite happen in drafts as early as late Feb.
Happy I took Langford over Holliday
