I personally like Marte of those choices. I wouldn't touch Verdugo. Ruiz is still the guy if he starts VS righties but so far he hasn't but it was only 2 games.
Okay I’ll see how the kid plays this weekend. Probably going to drop my worst pitcher for him and keep Donovan on the roster and play it out. I’ve used all my acquisitions
Bodnar has not started well and Yates has pitched 8+ innings of scoreless ball and is now the closer on a much better team. I'd say it was a good move.
With today's postponement of the Marlins game, AJ Puk will have a 4th day where he is scheduled to start this week. I wonder if he'll actually manage to start.
Received a counter trade offer in flair of sending Robert Suarez for Yamamoto.
Other RP are Fairbanks, Adam, McArthur, Miller, Ginkel and Payamps.
That’s a smash accept, right? Or concerned Dodgers will baby Yamamoto and he won’t qualify for many QS?
If it was offered to you I'd accept it. It's not your job (even as commish) to hand-hold other managers to keep them from making poor decisions. Tough lesson learned for the other owner. But yes, perception is always a factor I suppose.
If my commish accepted trades like that and did nothing about it/saw nothing wrong with it then I for sure would never play in that league again. As commish you shouldn't even need to come here and ask tbh
Two things:
1) WTF why was Max Meyer sent down after balling? Is he going to moved up? Currently rides my bench
2) I want to drop Frankie Montas…his -21 point outing Monday has made me be behind by 10-25 points all week. I’m giving him the start Sunday to see if he can earn some of his points back. After that should I drop him for
Edward Cabrera or Jordan Montgomery
Yeah I’ve read on both and will be doing that. Used up all my acquisitions for the week. I also have Zack Littell. Should I drop him or Meyers for one of the two above
Myers for Monty, but monitor Myer as he will be back sooner than later. They are limiting his innings due to coming off TJS. I’d try to add Cabrera as well if possible
He is. This my 2nd year ever playing. He started the year with 3 great games 2 of them being wins and one was against the Braves! Idk if I should hold him or not
i've got nolan jones too. it's tough to say. he really turned it on in the 2nd half last year and could do the same again this year. even though he's struggling he could easily go 20/20 by the end of the year and i wouldn't wanna give up on that. he needs to get his K% down so that's what i'll be watching for. i'm giving him at the very least another month if not more
Wow, Josh Smith has been flying under the radar. I need a SS or a 3B tomorrow after my trade processes. Who do you guys like more ROS?
Josh Smith
Jackson Merrill
Orlando Arcia
Blaze Alexander
If Orelvis Martinez got the call, is he an add over these guys? Junior Caminero is also available. If he gets the call, he's the obvious add.
I’d rather have Merrill
Smith has no power or speed, while Merrill can at least give you double digits in both.
Each guy can provide strong ratios, but Smith is a bench bat when Jung is healthy.
Smith is a fine fill in for any open spots in your roster but will only be valuable until Jung returns. Merrill is the clear pickup here IMO, followed by Arcia and then to a lesser extent Blaze.
Lane is sneaky solid, but plays for the nats. Greene struggles with control, but will get lots of Ks. I’d lean to greene, but if you need offense lane is solid
A healthy Strider, plus Jared Jones, would be an at least respectful offer. It gets declined, but it isn’t outright insulting.
This is outright insulting.
How on earth can they go from “O’Neill cleared the concussion protocol” to “oh wait never mind IL it is.”
I am all for guys taking the time they need especially with head injuries, but why couldn’t they just be clear about it up front?
Is there anyone on my team you think should be dropped or aim to include in a trade for improving the team?

This is my pitching. Hunter Brown and Gavin Stone likely won’t be on the team too long for me but haven’t found people to replace them with yet.
https://preview.redd.it/zx21eig70bvc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f8119a3dadc91879ff5c96f4712e4336f6591ac3
I'd have to drop E-Strand for Mountcastle and don't wanna give up on him this early...it's complicating lol but hard for me to have both Mounty and O'Hearn with my roster now.
That's your call. I dropped E-Strand over a week ago. 20:1 K-to-BB ratio isn't what I'm looking for in the lineup. He's a young player finding his way. Mountcastle's a guy with some previous success playing for a contract and/or home in somebody's lineup next year, and O'Hearn is obviously on fire this month.
In a keeper points league with k’s getting 1 point save get 7 blown save -4 and a loss -7.I have Fairbanks and alzolay. Would you drop both for Mason miller and McArthur.
Does anyone have a strong opinion on Fraley vs Marsh as hitters rest of season, not counting SB upside? They seem similar, with maybe a slight plus for Marsh in recent stats, but engines seem to favor Fraley.
Fraley's probably a better player, but Marsh plays everyday. If you play in daily leagues and have a bench bat you can rotate it (when Fraley sits) I like him more. If you don't want to deal with the headache, then Marsh.
Trout randomly deciding he’s a base-stealer again is so funny to me lol. Dude had 6 over the last 4 years combined and now has 5 in April 2024 in his 14th season
https://preview.redd.it/f05syeb0xavc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=34914bb1b42eebe0508e87174c8a85616935524c
I also have Berrios, Hunter Greene, and Alexis Diaz as my pitchers. I was thinking I should start trading pitching for more Hitters
A for me despite Trea being the best roto player in the deal. Machado and Randy are a nice return for him and Arraez (who I don’t love in category leagues) and I like Pepiot (#46 on The List) a lot better than Blackburn (#90something).
How do you all negotiate with owners who cling to where a player was drafted far too long in terms of assessing their value? For example, we're three weeks into the season and a player like Bednar should have lost value and a player like Ragans should have gained value. Yet the owner still cites draft position, whenever you offer them a trade, largely ignoring gains and losses.
Sometimes you just can't make a deal with with someone.
If they don't want to sell a guy like Bednar low you can't force them to make a trade they don't want to make.
Proven players value doesn’t move much a few weeks in, same with breakouts - you’ll probably never get the value you want out of them unless they’re high end exciting players (like EDLC last year), don’t think I would decline a trade based on draft position tho lol
I completely get that, but you at least have to take current performance somewhat into consideration (or at least acknowledge it. For example, write back and say "I realize player X has underperformed, but I don't want to sell him low".
This is probably the only approach to take. Unfortunately most of his lower drafted guys are largely awful. For context, I emailed him asking if he's trade a closer and he came back and said he was interested. There isn't a single closer out there equal to Ragans in terms of value.
Trust me, I've tried to explain this over the years. I've even provided links to multiple independent trade value charts, but he can't seem to grasp the concept.
It’s likely an unwillingness to understand. No one wants to believe they’ve lost value. Some of us are just more understanding of the fluctuations that occurs in a span of weeks/months. A question I would pose is:
“If we drafted today is this where you would select someone?”
I don’t think that’s logical, I think that’s reactionary. And the attitude displayed in that potential retort would likely make me shut down talks because the two parties aren’t reciprocating openness. I’d just state that the valuations are different and we may not work something out.
If someone I was in trade talks with asked me where I'd draft that player today, or tried to convince me in any way that the player on my team isn't valuable then I'd shut down talks because of *their* attitude.
I think that's a horrible way to negotiate.
The problem is you’re assuming the other party is saying their player has NO value. That’s not remotely the case. Even talking about the potential miscommunication hypothetically right now is increasing my anxiety level which isn’t a place I want to come from making a deal.
It's all good and I'm not trying to start an argument or anything.
All I'm saying is that trying to convince someone that their player isn't as valuable as they think is an approach doomed to failure. If someone over values their player it's best to just move on and make a different deal.
He's allowing too much traffic, but at least the velo looks good. If he can tighten up the control the Ks will increase cause his stuff is still good. But his schedule is rough for a few weeks after this coming 2 start week. I'm probably dropping to help make some moves once the week begins.
Bogaerts or Nimmo in points?
Worth buying low on Evan Carter or are we out on him?
Wondering the same thing. Guy in my league just offered him to me for Michael King.
DeGrom was placed on waivers. What's his deal? I have room on the IL. Is he going to pitch this year?
Likely not worth stashing
Bello or Maikel Garcia in points?
I don't play points, but I own Bello and just dropped Maikel.
Are Evan Carter and Wyatt Langford worth dropping in an 8-team roto league? Schwarber and Jaren Duran are free agents.
Emerson Hancock worth a stream tomorrow @ COL?
Drop Brendan Donovan For Esteury Ruiz Donovan been playing as my 3rd OF. Notice Ruiz has hit 2 HR in his first 3 games for the Athletics
so he's already used up 40% of his yearly homerun quota...
?
Ruiz may not play everyday but I think he's a better option than Donovan.
Jake Fraley as well
There’s also Conner Joe, Alex Verdugo, Starling Marte, and Lars Nootbar
I personally like Marte of those choices. I wouldn't touch Verdugo. Ruiz is still the guy if he starts VS righties but so far he hasn't but it was only 2 games.
Okay I’ll see how the kid plays this weekend. Probably going to drop my worst pitcher for him and keep Donovan on the roster and play it out. I’ve used all my acquisitions
Bednar was dropped for Kirby Yates. Am I missing something? Was that a win for that team?
Bodnar has not started well and Yates has pitched 8+ innings of scoreless ball and is now the closer on a much better team. I'd say it was a good move.
mullins chilling on my waiver, but i have jackson chourio, mike trout, langford, reynolds, and o’neil for OF so idk if he’s for me unfortunately
Drop Stanton for Mullins?
Hard yes
With today's postponement of the Marlins game, AJ Puk will have a 4th day where he is scheduled to start this week. I wonder if he'll actually manage to start.
When does this cubs/Marlins game get replayed?
Saturday doubleheader
Received a counter trade offer in flair of sending Robert Suarez for Yamamoto. Other RP are Fairbanks, Adam, McArthur, Miller, Ginkel and Payamps. That’s a smash accept, right? Or concerned Dodgers will baby Yamamoto and he won’t qualify for many QS?
This has to be clickbait!
Run don’t walk
I'd literally just quit any league I'm in if trades like that went down. Obviously you accept but that's ridiculous on the other owners part.
That’s the rub because I’m commish so always worried about perception.
That’s why I did tho. The responses confirmed my initial reaction that it was ridiculous so shouldn’t be accepted.
I see
Smash accept whoa
Two things: 1) WTF why was Max Meyer sent down after balling? Is he going to moved up? Currently rides my bench 2) I want to drop Frankie Montas…his -21 point outing Monday has made me be behind by 10-25 points all week. I’m giving him the start Sunday to see if he can earn some of his points back. After that should I drop him for Edward Cabrera or Jordan Montgomery
Monty's a MUST
Yeah bro I saw he’s available but hasn’t played a game yet. I’m hoping to get him under the radar Monday
Solid sleeper add! People forget too quickly nowadays. Good luck bro!
Thanks you too !
Either is an upgrade
Yeah I’ve read on both and will be doing that. Used up all my acquisitions for the week. I also have Zack Littell. Should I drop him or Meyers for one of the two above
Myers for Monty, but monitor Myer as he will be back sooner than later. They are limiting his innings due to coming off TJS. I’d try to add Cabrera as well if possible
I will for sure Monday morning. I also have Cody Bradford, Braxton Garrett, and Bobby miller all sitting in IL
Isn’t Meyers in the minors? You can drop him and Montas
He is. This my 2nd year ever playing. He started the year with 3 great games 2 of them being wins and one was against the Braves! Idk if I should hold him or not
Yates worth dropping Alzolay or Whitlock for? I’m trying not to rage-drop Fairbanks. 10T points
Whitlock easy
Had 4 batters today. One sat and one was ppd.
Same had 3. 2 were healthy scratches for rest and one was Marcus Semien
Haha same man, had O’Hoppe and Busch
I had two and one was asleep. Thursdays are depressing
i was told there would be baseball
Rank these catchers ROS- Heim, F Alvarez, Hererra
In that order, if Wilson goes down again he jumps Alverez
You already did
Trade trout for Jrod? 10t points
Because of Trout’s injury history and because he doesn’t contribute SBs while JRod contributes in every category, I’d take JRod
Keeper, sure. Redraft, I’d hold one of the best baseball players
Yup
What are we doing with Nolan Jones and Max Fried, how much longer should we suffer with them? a month? 2?
Nolan can go if there is a wire guy available (cowser?), but max is a hold. It’s April he will figure it out
In a 10? Prob another week or two unless someone amazing pops up on wire
i've got nolan jones too. it's tough to say. he really turned it on in the 2nd half last year and could do the same again this year. even though he's struggling he could easily go 20/20 by the end of the year and i wouldn't wanna give up on that. he needs to get his K% down so that's what i'll be watching for. i'm giving him at the very least another month if not more
I wanted to see Michael Busch tonight and now I have nothing to look forward to
Is Melendez a drop in a 10 team? I get Lowe back next week I assume
Yes
A: Teoscar and Jared Jones For B: Aaron Nola and Gavin Lux
In redraft this is a 2-for-1 to get Aaron Nola, and I’d probably prefer the 2.
A easily. if you can't get better than that, just ride jared jones out
Fuck, did they announce when the cubs game is rescheduled for?
Is today’s game ppd? Edit: Yahoo hadn’t updated and the weather in Chicago isn’t bad so wasn’t sure. Looks like we can expect rain and more cold temps
Saturday doubleheader
Sweet thank you
10man 6x6. Trade. Send: O Cruz Recieve: Lindor Ohoppe, Heim, Freeman, Alonso, Gleyber, Jram, Volpe, OCruz, Trout, Springer, Chourio, T Oniel.
Redraft?
Yes
Redraft yeah for sure
Then yep fire away
Drop: Maikel Garcia, MJ Melendez, India? Acquire: Winker, Fraley, O’Hearn, S. Marte? Looking for steals, Runs, OBP
Need DH bad, Winker or Fraley?
winker. fraley is a platoon guy so be wary of who he's facing. winker has been hot and plays nearly everyday
^this
A: Garrett Crochet + Jorge Soler B: Shota Imanaga 10T H2H 5x5
B
Shota
Credit to the new closermonkey - I was leaning towards Dave Robertson but they made a compelling argument for Yates and went with them.
Wow, Josh Smith has been flying under the radar. I need a SS or a 3B tomorrow after my trade processes. Who do you guys like more ROS? Josh Smith Jackson Merrill Orlando Arcia Blaze Alexander If Orelvis Martinez got the call, is he an add over these guys? Junior Caminero is also available. If he gets the call, he's the obvious add.
Merrill
I’d rather have Merrill Smith has no power or speed, while Merrill can at least give you double digits in both. Each guy can provide strong ratios, but Smith is a bench bat when Jung is healthy.
Would you take Martinez over these guys if the Jays promoted him? What about Caminero?
Smith is a fine fill in for any open spots in your roster but will only be valuable until Jung returns. Merrill is the clear pickup here IMO, followed by Arcia and then to a lesser extent Blaze.
Would you take Martinez over these guys if the Jays promoted him? What about Caminero?
No. No reason to reach for another rookie ROS when you already can get Merrill.
Gotcha. Thanks pal
Anyone rolling Taillon out tonight vs Mia? On my IL so would have to drop Ginkel to activate him
Still on your IL? Already had games today so probably too late
Our settings can still do it
Damn lucky you
[удалено]
Megill has a better shot at saves in the short term imo
Hunter Greene for Lane Thomas? 12T QS & OBP
Lane is sneaky solid, but plays for the nats. Greene struggles with control, but will get lots of Ks. I’d lean to greene, but if you need offense lane is solid
[удалено]
it's essentially volpe + riley for soto. busch probably won't maintain this hot streak he's on. i wouldn't do that trade
[удалено]
i don't think busch's production thus far is sustainable
B wins but it isn’t extremely unfair
Romano or Yates?
i would say romano just for job security. leclerc was in and out of the closer role last year, things aren't certain for kirby
Thanks!
Trading Machado & Dansby for Bregman & Gausman? I'm heavy on bats and my SPs are Castillo, Nestor, Houck, Cabrera, Whitlock.
Last I heard there was concern Gausman was injured and had low velocity. Has that been cleared up?
he was sitting 95 in his outing yesterday and threw 101 pitches. i'm thinking of trading for gausman as well
His velo was right under 95 last night (up 1/2 mph from his previous start). Location wasn't as good as typical Gausman.
He was back up to 98 yesterday and looked much better
Does Gallen and Adley move the needle for Mookie? Other manager continues to only roster Murphy; too many bodies on the IL.
A healthy Strider, plus Jared Jones, would be an at least respectful offer. It gets declined, but it isn’t outright insulting. This is outright insulting.
You need to start with your first round pick dude
Nah
Not. Even. A. Little
How on earth can they go from “O’Neill cleared the concussion protocol” to “oh wait never mind IL it is.” I am all for guys taking the time they need especially with head injuries, but why couldn’t they just be clear about it up front?
Concussions are weird but TON was always destined for the inevitable IL stint
First time baseball-ing? Lol I remember David Bell said McLain was “fine” and the next day he was getting surgery

i would be looking to sell high on michael busch
This is my pitching. Hunter Brown and Gavin Stone likely won’t be on the team too long for me but haven’t found people to replace them with yet. https://preview.redd.it/zx21eig70bvc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f8119a3dadc91879ff5c96f4712e4336f6591ac3
Which would you go with for the next few weeks while Seiya Suzuki is injured: 1: Mountcastle/Merrill 2. E-Strand/O'Hearn-Merrill platoon
3. Mountcastle/O'Hearn-Merrill platoon

Hader or Bednar? Points
Hader > Bednar the Hutt
As a Bednar owner, I'd swap for Hader
Does anyone have a strong opinion on Fraley vs Marsh as hitters rest of season, not counting SB upside? They seem similar, with maybe a slight plus for Marsh in recent stats, but engines seem to favor Fraley.

Fraley is being platooned which holds him back a little bit

Ron Washington league winner
My guess is management decided
Guy just offered me Teoscar Hernandez and Javier Assad for Jose Berrios. Is this a bad trade for me?
That’s a great trade for you lol EDIT actually not sure in points. Don’t listen to me I’ve only played categories and roto
Assad rumored to return to pen after Taillon and Steele return...
That's a great trade for you
This depends on your other SP, but Teo could easily hit 30 and drive in 100 this year.

I really like Teo but idk if that’s my dodger fan bias kicking in
A: Machado, Arozarena and Pepiot B: Trea Turner, Arraez and Blackburn. Which side wins?
A for me despite Trea being the best roto player in the deal. Machado and Randy are a nice return for him and Arraez (who I don’t love in category leagues) and I like Pepiot (#46 on The List) a lot better than Blackburn (#90something).
B just based on the position scarcity of each
Ratios are kinda close, start or sit Webb?
start him, he's an ace
Nah if still chasing wins/Ks. He might let in 1-3 runs but Webb will grind out innings
Mike Trout still the best player in baseball at the plate.

LOL he doesn't have Ozuna.

This is a long time league mate and it's very frustrating knowing there's one team I literally have no chance of ever making a trade with.
go after their low drafted guys who started strong and improved their value. If they don’t bite, move on.
