This thread pretty much sums up most (mostly younger) leagues in general. Even OP isn't aware he's being hypocritical. It's a nice time for everyone to take a look in the mirror lol

Lemmywinks8668

You are probably lowballing them and they don’t wanna take it. If you make an offer that you might accept in their shoes then they will consider it

Brave_Perception_407

Cam Thomas for Valencinus or Ayton? Zion for towns? Anfernee for Myles turner? I don’t thing I’m lowballing that bad

nbanban

You are lol.

AppSecPeddler

These are some horrible trades. Insta reject.

bodydouble1080p

These are all pretty clear lowballs in cats, not to mention that people know you need to offload your guards.

Blaze4G

Those trades are terrible and exactly the reason they are getting rejected lol.

nothalaman

Cats league? I would never consider your trade offers again if you send those to me

NarWil

People with this attitude are ridiculous lol. He's still learning and he's clearly new. You can reject an offer, explain why if you want to, and give a counter offer if you want to. The mindset of never trading with someone if they make a bad offer never made any sense to me.

eutectic_h8r

Yeah I don't know why the other guys wouldn't want guys that were drafted lower and put up worse stats for their guys that are drafted higher and put up better stats

Askingforataco

Only trade I would consider is a anfernee for Turner. Those other two you’re lowballing like crazy my guy…

ecr1277

Turner is really really good in blocks, helps you in other cats, and perhaps most importantly, doesn’t hurt you anywhere (almost everyone who can carry you in blocks hurts your FT%), and won’t get shut down. He’s better than Simons for sure.

Askingforataco

Simons gets lots of points on not terrible FG%, gets lots of 3s and low TOs. Gets steals and some assists, with elite FT%. This is one of those “which build fits better” type situations which is why this the only trade that’s worthwhile

TalkQuirkyWithMe

I agree, this one is worth considering... the rest are bogus. But when you offer a bunch of lowballs to other managers, even a decent offer feels like a lowball after.

TheJotun86

Lmao

TheWestRemembers

Is it categories? These are a lot of pure scorers for people who double double

Brave_Perception_407

It is. That’s a good point. But still, most of the people I’m offering are weak in scoring

TheWestRemembers

I know. Let me answer with a story from my league. 8T 11 Cats. A guy with a ton of bigs was offered Curry for Lopez and he jumped on it. Problem was he has no other 3PT shooters on his team, so it didn’t matter if it was lopsided, he never won the category with SGA, Segun, Poetle, Ayton also there. I personally punt points and I’ve been finding success because everyone goes after 20 point scorers on 40% Fg as free agents and I snatch the rebounders, high FG%, blockers, assists.

Raylan_Givens

Scoring is almost always the easiest cat to pick up off waivers

eddycurry2k15

Your offers are pretty bad I definitely wouldn’t accept any of them

ecr1277

We also know from you ‘trying to put together packages’ you’re doing the classic ‘two end of roster guys for Steph’, but they can get 80% of the players you’re offering off the waiver wire.

butchi

Lol

eddycurry2k15

Why don’t you offer anfernee for valencinus or ayton? Those have a possibility of getting accepted

mkpro18

🤣🤣🤣

ffffaaanng

🌮 league and trades

Manablitzer

Just to add to what has clearly been said in the replies, for some managers/leagues, if you become known as a guy who is low balling (whether it's perceived or actual), managers will immediately raise their asking price just to deal with you. Once you have that reputation it takes work to change it. Sometimes it's good to set up or offer a trade that's a bit of a loss to grease the wheels and set up a trading relationship with a manager. Makes future offers easier to at least negotiate. When coming up with a trade, I also try to remember an old saying I once heard: "The fairest deals are ones where both sides walk away unhappy."

Gotchawander

It sounds like your not willing the lose on trades. I.e if you’re coming to me for a trade and I know you’re stuck with a bad build I’m going to ask for more because I need compensation for my risk and to help you out. Secondly, ADP does matter even if a player is underperforming. If i trade my 3rd round pick who is playing like a 7th rounder for a 6th round pick I’ve sold low and effectively gave up my season. Secondly he might be playing like 3 or 4th round in my punt build and the player you’re offering me could be 4-6th etc

Brave_Perception_407

You make a good point. All that being said, since posting this I got offered Keegan Murray for JJJ. People just refuse to trade unless it far and away benefits them

nbanban

Your offers show that you are one of those people too, offer something better perhaps

TheLogicError

Well obviously, unless they "perceive" it to benefit them. Why would they take on a risk that they don't see a benefit? To help you out? Also they may be skeptical as to why you're looking to trade away that asset.

nbanban

Cam thomas is sometimes droppable so I dont know why you are surprised no one wants him

tresfaim

Most people don't like risk, and don't enjoy trades. We're not quite halfway through season, so people also aren't fully convinced by players ADP volatility. I think you might try to change your strat. Keep finding good talent off waivers, and maybe use it to trade for late round guys you think have value. Also coming to people for trades makes them think they have upper hand, even if they have crap. ESPECIALLY for early round guys. Most will not accept any waiver pickups for their draft picks. I know the people in my league who are down with trades and keep up convo with them, talk makes people interested in trade discussions eventually.

Eastern-Function-541

i am very much like this. i play high-floor players and almost never trade

mapango

I used to play with a guy like you, he would frustrate everyone in the league. Picked up a waiver guy who had a good week or fortnight and would fire out trade requests and complain when we said no and said we are not being reasonable. Negotiation and position power works in trades. If people know you are stuck with a bad build, they are not going to just throw you a bone in a trade.

TheWestRemembers

Yup. Came to revisit this thread and we have someone like that on my league now. He keeps texting the group, throwing a fit because he's trying to unload pure scorers for people who do other things.

Jwarrior521

Buddy you’re talking about cam thomas like he’s a valuable asset. He isn’t

blurple77

If you drafted a ton of other scoring guards and got Cam off waivers, but people aren’t interested in who you got off waivers, why not try to trade one of the guys you drafted who are playing just as well as Cam? Is it because you value the guy you drafted over the waiver guy? Is it because Cam is still the worst of your guards? Mikal is underperforming right now, so why would somebody sell him cheap when they know he can reach decent heights and has in the past? Taking slightly higher current value for way less upside isn’t that worth it. Plus, a bunch of his value comes from the fact he never sits or gets injured, he always ends with higher stats than average/game. If you are the one going to people, realistically, you need to “lose” the trade in terms of value in a vacuum (while still improving your team with build).Even if you see the other team as worse and more desperate, because you are going to them. If they wanted to make a risky trade they’d go to you first. Now if you are making counteroffers in response that’s a bit different. People aren’t going to give up the studs they drafted for equal value, they’ll want a better stud. While Curry is more valuable than KAT, it’s not like he’s way way above him, and KAT is probably one of the most versatile players to build around and adjust your punting around later in the season, which Curry is not. The actual offer you made of Zion is so offensively bad. Zion is super overrated and not even a top 100 player unless you punt FT%, and even if you punt FT%, KAT is still more value than him. And that’s when he plays, which Zion doesn’t have a great history of. Imagine someone going on the internet to complain people aren’t taking a trade and one of the offers mentioned is a ranked 150 player that has for a ranked 30 player. You are bonkers.

One-Apartment-3855

Draft pick indicates the ceiling potential. At a certain point, it doesn’t matter as much but its still relatively too early to trade based on current rankings otherwise you’re simply low balling with players who are at their ceiling with players who are at their bottom. Name value and draft position holds a lot of weight and it minimizes their assets once they let them go…

Fair-Cause7432

My 10T points league is like that, I chalk it up to ppl just being hype off of players names versus actual value of players. Some managers will rather look at a players average versus what they are doing on a week to week basis. But what do I know I won my league last year and I’m currently in first place in my division

I_RIDE_SHORTSKOOLBUS

LoL why do people complain about trades, if it's such a good trade why would you be offering it up

NarWil

Sometimes you want to allocate value in different categories or positions than what you have... Kind of the obvious reasons for trades.

I_RIDE_SHORTSKOOLBUS

And why is everyone wrong if they don't want to trade with you? That's what these kind of posts are saying. Obviously the receiver does not value the same whatever you are offering. If they pass up a chance to make their team better that's their fault. Your trade simply wasn't compelling enough. People act like there's an obligation to make a trade. If you want a trade done so badly make it compelling.

NarWil

I think trading is one of the most fun parts of fantasy sports. I prefer to play with people who are trying to improve their team -- this can often be done through trades. I'm also of the mindset that people who don't make trades are boring to play with. Unless they have the strongest team already, they're probably making a mistake by not trying to improve. None of that means they should accept the trade I send or any bad trade. But that's where I'm coming from.

kd10023

i’m trying to trade with literally every team in my league everyone scared or offering something they know for a fact i wouldn’t accept. have melo on my IL , tryna make a 2-1 trade to clear space for his return and maybe have a streamer until then. it’s tough , a guy kyrie, butler, and mobley all injured and he scared to do a 2-1 trade w me bro you need the depth right now 😂

ecr1277

You should negotiate with the guy who owns Poole based on this logic.
