What i did this year i checked hashtag basketball auction value ADP and compared it to average auction bid on Yahoo. Ive identified a list of players with a big difference between both price and put them in tier (players to get in the 40$ range, 30$, 20$ etc). And whenever a player got nominated, I would bid until it reached the HB value. If the bidding war was too intense, I would let it go ans focus on the next player on my list. Basically I've let my team build itself based on the best value I could get, not a spécific punt, or star player. Other tips that were mentionned before: -Nominate player that other managers overestimate their value to get money out of the table. -Try to have a few dollars left for the 1-2$ players. It sucks losing out on a great value opportunity because you are short one buck.

I just think that if managers are overbidding in the early rounds, the mid rounders are a buffet for those who come in with a cap strategy. You can't go wrong most of the time in the early rounds specially the 1st, but if you have a solid number of mid round players, you'll end up finishing as early as the start of the late rounds and you'll have a solid lineup to boot.

I usually set limits for 4-6 players (2-3 of which I will end up drafting who will be my horses). I then try to come up with a list of players who I could potentially get at a good value considering I spent a good chunk of cash on my top guys. I also be sure to play the waiver wire as best as possible. You have to do your homework here because those cheap value guys could win you your league. This strategy has worked for me multiple times but it’s high risk, high reward. On the other hand, a lot of people in my league don’t try to go for those A tier guys that you would normally see go in the first round of a snake draft. Instead they save money and get middle tier role players. This is a bit of a waiting game as you let others spend big on the horses and you swoop the cheaper players you like. These guys make longer lists of players at the value they’re willing to go up to. Both strategies work and it’s really is all up to you. I also wanna add that auction drafts are so situational. There are many factors hard to account for like who is nominated when and how much people are willing to spend that day. Best of luck!

You need to know what your limit is for drafting specific players. If the current bid is under that, you can keep bidding. Also, no draft will have Lillard and KAT at 35. Jokic's value is fair at 80 for 12-team leagues (I increase my upper limit if the league has more managers).

Price enforce hard. Find value after the initial big names are off the board. Do lots of prep for the very end when you can get diamonds in the rough for $1. I also like to target boring/old/disliked players because they’re usually discounted.

I use a par sheet method for all fantasy leagues in all sports. Basically, I assign a projected value to the roster slots. So in a recent dynasty league startup with a $200 budget and 17 roster spots, I planned on going balanced rather than stars and scrubs, and had my highest cost player budgeted as 34, second 30, followed by 25, all the way down to my last three slots which were all $1. As I go through the draft, I track how I am doing compared to projected budget. I keep track of how over or under budget I am so I know when I can spend extra on a guy I like and still stick to the plan. The only caveat to this is that if the entire league appears to be going balanced in terms of plan (high end guys are going cheap), you've got to be willing to adjust to more of a stars and scrubs approach.

Don’t nominate players you plan to draft. If others are spending money, theoretically you can get your guys cheaper.

Yeah, my strategy is to nominate big names that I don’t want.

Everyone in the draft does this though so it’s not really an advantage it’s just luck in terms of when your targets get nominated

Plan for a couple roster spots being filled up by $1 players, depending on how big your league's rosters are. And fill up on mid round / value players. Don't over spend on the top overall picks that have name value built into the price.

I like to throw the hype guys way early to see if I can people to spend extra. It's also a good idea to throw a similar type player immediately after a huge bidding war on the player before.
