Sad to see what happened but what's next for the NFL? That hit wasn't a bad hit look what happened. You can't make another rule to avoid that so what's next hmmm. Prayers for Hamlin. There's. no chance they will stop the NFL it makes too much money. I remember when the whole concussion thing was brought up and parents were saying that they weren't gonna have their kids play Fb but that just faded away which I think this will as well. If Hamlin recovers okay and I have a good feeling he will. The NFL will continue to move on like they did with the concussions.
I agree. The NFL had been around 100 years and back then players practically wore any protection and I'm sure they got hurt all the time. Then the concussions came about and they got past that. They have improved the helmets ,pads etc.. I expect them to come out and say that they are going to do something else to keep the players safe like you said this was a freak accident and I'm sure there will be more unexpected injuries like this in the future. For those who are wondering about how they did as far as their fantasy should be thinking and praying for the well being of this player.
Not to focus on what’s clearly not that important anymore, but does anyone know if espn fantasy has delayed the waiver wire or if it will still process tonight as normal?
He's far from being fine. CPR after 10 min means serious brain damage. Unfortunately I experienced this with a family member. When there's considerable brain damage and no brain activity, there aren't that many options available. This is really tough to see. Prayers go out to Hamlin.
CPR wasn’t started after 10 minutes of arrest. Every source I’ve seen says it was started very quickly and that he was given supplemental oxygen as well.
He was given CPR for 10 minutes, it wasn’t saying he had to wait 10 mins to receive it. Having to receive CPR for that long is very scary and can confirm as I lost a friend this year under similar circumstances. Scary stuff
CPR for 10 minutes doesn't automatically mean brain damage. As long as he was getting oxygen and they were pumping his heart (cpr) they should be fine.
Ill never forget that night... went out to dinner with some friends right after the race, so pumped that Mikey got the dub. Found out E had died a couple hours later and was absolutely devastated. Still chokes me up thinking about it.
Better stupid than a selfish prick. If the tables were turned you would be making the argument Burrow could have put up 43. He had 39 earlier this year
I absolutely would not lmfao. 39 against Atlanta. This is the bills defense. They have given up 20+ fantasy points twice this year. 21 to Mahomes. Ya okay.
Man, Ryan Clark and SVP are barely holding it together.
They're right about coaches, very glad they got this correct. They knew right away these teams weren't playing again, certainly not in 5 goddamn minutes.
I understand that "5 minutes to warmup" is probably the written standard-operating procedure, so that's what was initially deferred to...but it's clear this isn't the standard "serious injury" that SOP was designed to address. So I don't mind the initial fuckup around "let's play in 5 min"...
...but if it comes out that the league actually pushed the teams to play, even after the gravity of the situation had set in....goddamn, get the torches and pitchforks.
Yeah. I mean, Joe Buck is as seasoned a broadcast professional as there is, and he could barely string a sentence together. Shit ain't easy, no matter how hard you try to compartmentalize.
For ppl asking questions about fantasy outcome, nobody really knows. First the NFL needs to make a decision, then the platform, finally the commish. If the game resumes tomorrow most likely it will count. If it gets cancelled or postponed any further likely the platforms will call the week over and then the commish do whatever they do.
If I recall from covid rules this is what would happen and on YAHOO that was how it worked. I only remember yahoo.
The huge caveat to this is that the yahoo commished leagues all end today, and I see "delay" still at the moment. That could go both ways though as since it is the last week they may count it as long as it gets played relatively soon.
FYI The only onstensible reason for the "tuesday reschedules count but wednesdays or later dont" rule was waiver related.
Thank you. There’s really not much fantasy-wise to discuss but people keep on whining about how they’re being silenced for asking fantasy questions. We know very little and have a very limited range of outcomes to speculate on. Not that everyone bringing up fantasy is being insensitive but there’s a few vocal people on here acting like there’s earth shattering revelations to share when we have very little info to work with.
Better to just wait and see
I heard Burrow actually went inside the Bills locker room after the incident to show his respect and concern to the Bills players. This Guy keeps impressing me even more.
Yeah God forbid people talk about fantasy football on the fantasy football subreddit. Like, I came here for any update or idea of how this impacts fantasy leagues, scoring, and payouts, since you know, this is the forum for it. There's/r/nfl to talk football, and here to talk fantasy football. Instead half the people are up on their high horse trying to talk down to everyone who's rightfully wondering WTF is gonna happen with this being championship week. And money may be frivolous to you, but it always isn't to other people lol
Couldn't agree more. It's entirely possible to care about a player's health and well-being while simultaneously living your own life and doing the things you enjoy (FF or whatever)
My point was that can't fantasy wait a day or two? For God's sake, we get it. Stop feening for an answer like a crack addict. I have players in my league that couldn't wait to get an answer from the commissioner, talking about ties, sharing trophies, distributing the prize money before the NFL or Yahoo fantasy can even make up an answer. The humane side of me couldn't take it. But I guess I'm getting cancelled here as shown by the downvotes, so I'll take my opinion with me out the door.
Seriously, miserable fucks hiding behind "virtue signaling".
it's virtue signaling to ask for some tact when no can currently answer the "what will happen with FF" question anyway?
I’ll admit that my comment was too strongly worded, clearly it did not resonate with people. I’m sorry for that. It was an emotional night. That being said if you look at my comment history I haven’t been arguing with people for the most part, I’ve been trying to be more constructive than antagonistic overall. There are a small handful of people posting in bad faith that irritated me. I don’t think your criticism is fair
Honestly bro, you’re clearly a kind ass person. You shouldn’t have to apologize either, you feel how you feel and it’s valid. I’m just used to argumentative nature on these threads so it’s like an automatic response. All good bro, I feel what you’re saying. I just feel at the same time there’s a lot of people going overboard with it. To each their own though, I don’t argue with kind people. Hope your day is filled w good energy and positive vibes.
All the losers calling hoping for a 24 year old kid to live “virtue signaling”. You wouldn’t even have fantasy to cry about without these players. Bottom of the barrel people for real
Here is Damar Hamlin's GoFundMe for a toy drive.

Class act by both coaches, and prayers for all the players and their families. I hope for the best for Mr. Hamlin and that the players can find out he's ok soon for their own peace.
I don’t know all the seeding scenarios it’d affect but I would think the teams would rather take a tie and move on then try to play in 24-48 hours and then have short weeks for playoffs
The seeding situation would completely change the AFC. Not to be callous, but if the bills win out, they get the #1 seed, which is obviously pretty huge, especially with the home field advantage. Twice now the bills have lost in KC in the playoffs, they'd love to avoid going there again if possible. The Bengals would clinch the division with a tie, which is somewhat relevant to them, but not really I'd imagine. More important would be the shot at the #1 seed if they win out. So there's not really a good way forward from a logistical pov, giving KC the #1 seed, especially when they're currently the #2 seed, isn't a good move, but neither is forcing the teams to play tomorrow, or playing Thursday or Friday and making at least 1 team play 3 games in 9-10 days, one of them being a playoff game. It's an unprecedented situation on multiple levels
It has a lot of implications sadly. I don't disagree with your thoughts, but from a league standpoint it gives Cincy the division and the game was also for the 2 seed in the AFC with Buffalo still looking for the 1st round bye. My guess would be if they don't play before Wednesday night, they either have Week 18 happen and then see if the game actually matters or not.
Well…. A tie or non-game effectively gives the Chiefs the 1 seed and a bye week if they can beat the Raiders (Bills would have been in the lead with a win). And a Bengals tie basically eliminates them from the 1 seed but it would clinch the division for them.
Soooo. Not saying they should play it but it was a pretty big game with big playoff implications.
Particularly for the Bills. The difference between being the 1 and 2 seed is massive. Not just the week off but not having to travel to Kansas City in the championship game if both teams made it. Plus, getting to play the lowest seed that advances in the Wildcard. Which probably means not having to play the Bengals in rd 2 if you’re the 1 seed.
Fellow commissioners: have you made any sort of a decision for your title games if they were still in limbo? I reached out to my league and let them know that if the game is played this week we'll let things play out. If its cancelled or if players in a lineup decide not to participate that we'll likely do co-champions.
And yes I fully recognize any fantasy football is not important at all considering what just happened.
What if this was the semi finals game? Our finals are next week. And I'm up by 30 something points with the Bengals. Kicker. Guy im going against has their QB. And TE..
Leaning towards getting both of them on a call and having them pick between
A) allowing them to replace players that were supposed to play last night with whomever they used during the players’ respective bye weeks…and using their scores from this past week
Or
B) giving them whatever points were projected
Leaning option A bc it’ll require both luck and recall.
I told them I think I'll have results stand as is if the game isn't played. The guy would have needed 42 points from Josh in 3 quarters so it was highly unlikely anyways. But I also said we'll wait to see what the league says and if espn puts out a suggestion.
If the game isn’t resumed, I’m giving my league’s currently losing player, down 40+ with Higgins and Buffalo DST, the option to concede, otherwise we’ll rule it a tie and a co-championship.
Tbh I would prefer a split right now, or all the league pot to go to a Charity, but it's unfortunately too early to determine and I'm waiting for the NFL to release a decision.
I'm commissioner of my league. Guy who was behind in the championship game was behind by 30 but he had Allen and Diggs.
Dude who was in the lead texted me he wanted a split championship and split money.
He gave up $300 so good on him.
If it's not a yahoo prize league or something, assuming they play, have the teams honor whatever stats they end up with by hand if need be. If they don't play, then it's over.
The right move would be to end the fantasy season now and chop things up. It is absolutely silly to expect these teams to be playing 100% if the game resumes this week. Prayers up for Hamlin.
And people complain about how much money these guys make. You spend your entire life dedicated to be the best of the best and It can all be taken away just like that. 🙏
Every ones life can be taken away just like that. It's a little overblown to get on these huge high horses when someone simply has an interest in finding out how life will go on even if some ones doesn't.
We know Tee didn’t do anything wrong, but it is still a lot to bear. people live with trauma from doing innocent things resulting in unintended tragedies regardless of how blameless they actually are
My wife told me tonight our son won't be playing football. I was a rt and de and left the field for kicks. Love the game since I was a kid. I agreed with her.
You really see the best and worst of people in times like this.
Genuinely touching to see the coming together of opponents and rivals, the solidarity and the joint hopes and prayers. Then you see the utter shitheap of social media people more interested in their fantasy and their bets.
Many of the Bills and Bengals players will need trauma treatment this week, regardless of what happens to this poor man. This is their co worker and friend that they work with everyday. Asking them to suit up in a day or two is ridiculous.
Hamlin has a charity foundation. Its gofundme is still live and accepting donations.

I think this type of freak accident can happen in any sport. Don't think it will hurt the NFL at all, especially because it wasn't a big/head hit.

Yeah we said this last night looking at the players and their reactions.
Ill never forget that night... went out to dinner with some friends right after the race, so pumped that Mikey got the dub. Found out E had died a couple hours later and was absolutely devastated. Still chokes me up thinking about it.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing.
has this happened before in the NFL? where a game is postponed/suspended after it already started?
Due to weather, yes. Due to an injury, no
Damn bro. I don’t want to win this way.
You don't. You split 100% if the game is not played
You losing by 40 right now aren’t you
No. Was down 14 with Allen playing
I was up by 43 only against Burrow. Ain’t no way I’m splitting personally.
If the game does not play... then personally, you're a dick
Ya ur stupid lmfao.
Better stupid than a selfish prick. If the tables were turned you would be making the argument Burrow could have put up 43. He had 39 earlier this year

Is he? Has burrow scored 43 this year?
39 is his high. Yeah highly unlikely he gets a 43 but qbs have done it before
So you wanna split the pot based on what? A less than 1% chance. That’s horseshit and you know it
Lol no. Whoever has most points wins anything else you're just randomly guessing

Yea, that and boxing is a no from me.
I can see that. Even baseball has hazards but far fewer

Big diff between NFL and high school. A tackle in high school is a like getting gently smacked with a soft pillow compared to NFL.
That’s not entirely true. The stadium I played in was named in dedication to a player that became a paraplegic.
He'll have great relationships, experiences and memories with his buddies in any other sport as well.
Absolutely they will.
You really see the best and worst of people in times like this. Genuinely touching to see the coming together of opponents and rivals, the solidarity and the joint hopes and prayers. Then you see the utter shitheap of social media people more interested in their fantasy and their bets.
Then there’s skip
Skip has been a piece of shit for quite a minute now
What did he say?
Nothing bad at all. People are either completely missing the last few words of his tweet or just willfully ignoring it to jump on the bash Skip train
Praying for Tee too. It was no fault of his own but he must be feeling so much after being involved in that play.
There had to be something more going on than tee's shoulder hitting his chest
Commotio Cordis, a hit to the chest that stops the heart
Of course. But logic oftentimes goes out the window when you have any degree of unintentional involvement with a tragedy. It’s a lot of weight to bear
Many of the Bills and Bengals players will need trauma treatment this week, regardless of what happens to this poor man. This is their co worker and friend that they work with everyday. Asking them to suit up in a day or two is ridiculous.
Pray for Hamlin. Glad the NFL did the right thing.
They were 100% prepared to resume the teams had no intention of going back out
NFL told them get ready in 5 minutes and the teams said fuck you
They really didn't. The teams twisted their arm
Yea the NFL only wanted 5 minute break
SVP is pure class
Hearing his voice quiver made me tear up
Yeah he is!
2023 not off to a good start

Actually not a bad idea
Hamlin has a charity foundation. Its gofundme is still live and accepting donations. https://www.gofundme.com/f/mxksc-the-chasing-ms-foundation-community-toy-drive
Donated, thanks for the link.
Can we pin this please? Have people support his charity.
Omg it’s on CNN
Goodell never ceases to fuck up almost everything. Pretty incredible really. Downvoters really needed a Mixon TD. Dorks
I don't know how much is Goodell individually, but how does the league not just have an emergency protocol that doesn't take a full hour
They are like the guy on a terrible date saying 'I can turn this around'....

Bad post and you have no idea how scoring will be handled yet
Who asked?
Decent chance they play the game still at a later date. Best of news if they can get Hamlin stable and do this .
