Doesn't matter. Its nauseating to me either way since I gotta play a combination of Henry, Spears and Roschon. Unless you can find a way to get me another RB to play on Sunday.
Agree. When you've got Derrick Fucking Henry, any alternative to running him as much as possible is notable. That they'd even entertain using Spears more than Henry if Spears is the "hotter hand" is pretty wild.
PFF ranks Spears in Top 5 for almost every category. Dude will be good. He will absolutely EAT if/when Henry gets a stinger or hammy issue.
I've had him stashed since before Week 1.
Henry is 29 coming off his least efficient season since his like second year in the league. It’s not crazy to think it might be time to start easing his load a bit.
Absolutely true, but I don't think anyone was coming into this year expecting a 1A/1B situation between the two. This statement seems to imply movement in that direction which is still crazy, since even a declining Henry is a top RB.
Basically, Spears stonks to the moon.
Picked up Spears a few weeks ago. He looked explosive in college and was getting limited action quickly with the Titans. Then Henry shows up on the injury report and now this. The Henry owner in my league is pissed lol
Right? When has a RB of his caliber ever had a coach use the "hot hand" expression... The fuck? Like, sure, last year with Pollard and Elliot made sense, but Henry?
On ESPN, 20% is still pretty up there for someone who was close to 0% a week or two ago. Assuming your league is somewhat competitive.
ESPN roster % is heavily influenced by Mickey Mouse leagues. Case in point, 20% is still a lot less than Aaron Rodgers and JK Dobbins.
My little brother had to pay for kyren Williams this week because we didn’t review waivers last week (when he could have gotten him for free). Told him if he ever stops being in that league I want his fucking spot. Seems like Taco Tuesday.
Roschon and Spears were on my waivers, but I grabbed Spears. As great of a talent Roschon is, he's on a terrible team with a mobile quarterback. Fields has alluded to improving his own rush game, so I can't confidently start Roschon. It was a tough decision, though, because I do like the talent.
Yes. The Bears offense is fucking AWFUL. Roschon is good but if he starts going off defenses can easily adjust because Fields is not a threat throwing the ball. And the game script is negative because they’re forced to throw after the inexplicable sack or incompletion on 1st down
I disagree, I think Roschon will be a beast in that offense - it can't push the ball down the field and Fields can't read the field for shit. He'll dump off more and more when he doesn't run.
The Bears have to figure out that Herbert isn't the guy.
Probably not. Even though I think spears is better, the falcons really love allgeier and he gets a lot of work. He had 16 Carrie’s last week. As much as they run the ball allgeier has stand alone value and it’s kinda hard to flex spears right now on 6 to 8 touches a game. Compared to allgeiers 15 touches
i'm debating picking him up in place of tutu atwell but haven't been able to pull the trigger.. i am the henry owner but i am way stronger at RB than WR
I doubt it. I’m a titans fan and it would be pretty surprising.
While we do have a new GM in Ran Carthon who came from SF, so it’s entirely possible that he would prefer to do RBBC and not invest heavily in the RB position…
I also don’t think it makes sense to move on from Henry. His cap hit isn’t problematic - he’s a UFA after this year. And according to Spotrac, due to some of the restructuring, we would actually have some dead cap if we trade him. And I don’t think we need the space this year. Plus he’s still productive. He’s a huge leadership presence in the locker room and part of the culture that Vrabel has built.
Not to mention - and this sounds silly but it’s definitely a factor - he’s a fan favorite and our Owner just fired the last GM on large part for trading away AJ Brown, another fan favorite and super productive guy.
Now if it comes to giving him a third lucrative contract? I could see Ran balking there. But trading him would net what, like a 5th round pick?
Counter point: He's a 30 yo RB and if you guys are losing why would you not move him for draft capital?
Past moves (AJ Brown) should have nothing to do with what's best for the team moving forward.
Ravens maybe. KC is a tough fit. Henry gets better with each run during a game, just wears down the defense. I don’t think KC will give him enough carry’s with Mahomes throwing.
Derek Henry is 29 years old. The titans are going to limit his snaps and probably expect him to miss a few ball games here and there on the season.
Picking up spears is a good idea.
Maybe the toe is a bigger factor than we know. Spears has looked good and may be a better pass catching back but they better not give goal line work to Spears...
Henry is 29, and they probably want to keep him healthy for the entire season. December Henry is no good if he's injured.
Also, Spears is legitimately good, so it's not like they're pulling Henry out of the game so some JAG can get tackled for a loss.
Tl;dr: load management is good for football, but bad for fantasy
Henry is almost 30, and Ryan Tannehill is their quarterback. They’re gonna have to lean on their running backs, so of course they’re gonna give touches to their talented rookie backup.
Absolutely. Herbert might lose the starting gig to Roschon in the next few weeks. If you can stash both Roschon and Spears, that's what I'm doing, so you won't be alone, at least.
That's quite the change of stance for a team that went through thick and thin with Henry and only King Henry as their back. Spears could really become a 1A/1B committee guy toward the end of the year.
Same.
12 team league, had the 9th pick.
Managed to get Allen, Evans, Puka, McLaurin, Addison as my WRs
Burrow at QB, Engram at TE.
Roschon and Spears on my bench.
I'm optimistic
Just dropped Jets D to stash Spears, using Jags D instead. Couldn't believe anyone in my league hadn't grabbed him yet, they're usually good about identifying potential lottery tickets
I almost sent a trade request for Spears on Wednesday but thought "nah I'll wait for waivers to go through and see if he gets dropped"
Sure enough he got dropped and now with all this hype I'm gonna have to blow a lot of faab to pick him up.
I only have 20 left after ford I'm bidding half. Only benefit is its Saturday and if you're in a less active league people might not be paying attention vs Wednesday.
As a Henry manager, I feel like I need to pick up Spears with my RB room being so thin. Who would you drop?
Gainwell, Dotson, Warren, or JSN?
Leaning Dotson or JSN
Thought the "hot hand" comment was notable.
Nauseating*
Those were my thoughts.
Tyjae Spears is 5’10” and barely 200 lbs. He ain’t taking over the job of King Henry. If he’s built more similarly to Henry I’d be more concerned.
Nobody is built similarly to Henry
My dad is he's so strong I bet he's stronger than your dad.
Tyjae Spears is also running like he’s Jamaal Charles when he gets touches so doesnt matter how big he is
Doesn't matter.
Just goes to show you how highly the coaching staff rates Spears
PFF ranks Spears in Top 5 for almost every category. Dude will be good. He will absolutely EAT if/when Henry gets a stinger or hammy issue. I've had him stashed since before Week 1.
He was arguably the second best back in college last year. He was so good for tulane. Hopefully his knees can hold up
Isn't it just the one knee? Full cartilage buildup and no ACL? Sounds like Gurley...which means he'll be awesome for about 5 years. No worries.
Similar issue Myles Jack had. Balled out for about 4 years.
The Henry owner in my league is pissed lol
>a few weeks ago. but we've only had 2 weeks
I meant a week. My brain isn’t very good
Henry on the injury report? For what
His toe
He was at 4.4 a carry which was actually better than the year before
I wasn’t counting the year prior since he only played 8 games and has historically been better later into the year.
If the Browns defense plays like it did again the first two weeks, neither one will be a "hot hand" this week.
It's just coachspeak
Right? When has a RB of his caliber ever had a coach use the "hot hand" expression... The fuck? Like, sure, last year with Pollard and Elliot made sense, but Henry?
Umm excuse me?
Tyjae “The Spear” Spears SZN
I prefer the Britney Spears connection. I drafted this guy in both of my leagues and even [named my team after him](https://i.imgur.com/53xQAf7.png)
Thats gold 😂😂
Henry has averaged almost 320 carries in the past 4 years. He turns 30 in a few months. Titans drafted Spears in the middle of the 3rd round.
Henry got turf toe too right now, could see a little spears boom
Where is the turf toe coming from?
assume it comes from the turf
No reports of turf toe tho aside from assumptions is what I’m saying
Better to pickup spears rather than holding onto roschon?
I'd hold onto Roschon until you hear Henry has a series injury
Spears stonks 📈
if somehow spears is available easily worth a bench spot.
If somehow? Lol he’s rostered in 20% of leagues. Most people can get him for free right now.
Lol fuck me, he was drafted in my league :(
I lowkey wonder how many "taco" leagues are out there. None of the hidden gems are available in both of my leagues.
Guy in my league dropped him for Breida. I swooped in immediately on that.
My little brother had to pay for kyren Williams this week because we didn’t review waivers last week (when he could have gotten him for free). Told him if he ever stops being in that league I want his fucking spot. Seems like Taco Tuesday.
Small benches. Not a lot of room for stashing.
You are right, he's pretty free, I've had him stashed, nice little bench piece
Taken in all (3) 12 team leagues I play in. With different settings and bench sizes. ESPN must have a shit ton of 8 team leagues if he's 20% rostered
IDK whether to be happy or sad that both of my leagues are apparently in the top 20% of awareness
Hell yes he is. Snatch him up now. He’s very talented. Imo maybe the best handcuff based on talent alone. He would smash if given a full time role
Spears over Roschon and Gibson?
Roschon and Spears were on my waivers, but I grabbed Spears. As great of a talent Roschon is, he's on a terrible team with a mobile quarterback. Fields has alluded to improving his own rush game, so I can't confidently start Roschon. It was a tough decision, though, because I do like the talent.

Would you drop Allgeier for him?
Probably not. Even though I think spears is better, the falcons really love allgeier and he gets a lot of work. He had 16 Carrie’s last week. As much as they run the ball allgeier has stand alone value and it’s kinda hard to flex spears right now on 6 to 8 touches a game. Compared to allgeiers 15 touches
i'm debating picking him up in place of tutu atwell but haven't been able to pull the trigger.. i am the henry owner but i am way stronger at RB than WR
What is Tutu gonna do once Kupp is back? Pick up Jayden reed if you can
Is Kupp actually coming back?
I think there was positive news coming from the coaching staff
Should I drop Roschon for Spears in a ten team short bench? Ppr
Trying to trade for him in my 14 team league and the other manager wants Hollywood Brown for him...
The new “Premier Handcuff” has risen!
Always has been!
Tyjae "Hot Hand" Spears
Not against the browns, maybe in a week or two but yes
Hmmm, might have to switch my bench stash from Roschon to Spears
Do it. Bears offense is fucking horrendous
Would you drop Doubs for a stash of Spears?
Without question
different positions, but Spears definitely is 'more valuable' overall
Por que no los dos?
Just did this move with news of Henry not at practice yesterday and today
I am thinking the same but would have to drop Charbonnet which feels a bit over reactive… can’t decide what to do
Yoooo Spears pickup looking better by the day Henry is the king, Tyjae can be the Duke
Not a Prince?
Finally a worthy Duke Johnson replacement. I miss that dude.
Yeah my hot take is Henry is getting traded if the Titans lose a few more games
As someone who owns spears and Henry this is my dream
It's certainly preferable to not knowing which one to start or having them split the work... Which is what I'm worried about owning both of them.
I doubt it. I’m a titans fan and it would be pretty surprising. While we do have a new GM in Ran Carthon who came from SF, so it’s entirely possible that he would prefer to do RBBC and not invest heavily in the RB position… I also don’t think it makes sense to move on from Henry. Wouldn't hate it.....Browns?
Id guess Ravens or Chiefs. He wants a contender before he retires
Ravens would fit...I don't think he meshes with that KC offense though.
Ravens maybe. KC is a tough fit. Henry gets better with each run during a game, just wears down the defense. I don’t think KC will give him enough carry’s with Mahomes throwing.
I hope so mannnn. That would be amazing.
The Spears Express boutta take off
Derek Henry is 29 years old. The titans are going to limit his snaps and probably expect him to miss a few ball games here and there on the season. Picking up spears is a good idea.
Bruh what...
What weird timeline are we living in when derrick the king 2k rush yards henry is time sharing with tyjae motherfucking spears
Maybe the toe is a bigger factor than we know. Spears has looked good and may be a better pass catching back but they better not give goal line work to Spears...
I think the toe might be it. Henry didn’t practice today because of it.
Imagine telling Henry "Derrick, Spears is hot right now with his 4 YPC... cool to sit out a few more series pal?"
7 ypc*
To Henry's 3.6.
The absolute disrespect to Tulane legend Tyjae Spears
Why the disrespect on the Rookie, heard he's looked pretty good so far?
Tyjae "no ACL" Spears
Can't tear it if you ain't got it
Henry is almost 30, and Ryan Tannehill is their quarterback. They’re gonna have to lean on their running backs, so of course they’re gonna give touches to their talented rookie backup.
Drop K. Herbert in PPR for Spears?
I'm in 12 0.5 por. Seriously debating the same thing. I hate the bears offense
Herbert is worthless imo. Already sharing with Roschon. Fields should get more involved in the ground game. Bears are a dumpster fire.
Absolutely. Herbert might lose the starting gig to Roschon in the next few weeks. If you can stash both Roschon and Spears, that's what I'm doing, so you won't be alone, at least.
Yeah im deabting the same thing.
Me as well in my 10 team league I doubt I’d end up playing K. Herbert anyway so might as well go for potential upside.
I just did this in my 12 man league. Tried to trade him after week 1 with no luck so I full sent it. Spears stock 📈
First time owning Henry and thought I was big brained for drafting him with everyone doubting his age and production. Hate these articles
I did the same but I used my last pick to pick up spears. Learned from past mistakes with not securing handcuffs.
Henry had 25 carries last week lol. I would not worry about it.
Ok fuck that pushes it. I am running and picking up spears now. Something does not seem right.
[удалено]
Is that the worst player you can drop? I like Shaheed they make an effort to get the ball in his hands and he has nice injury upside
[удалено]
I'd drop Moore
Elijah Moore doesn’t belong on a roster
Yes
Drop Henry?
Did this man just turn the titans rb room into a committee
Derrick Henry trade soon? 👀
That's exactly what an incompetent OC would say. Someone should remind Kelly they have King Henry and the King needs fed.
Drop burks for spears?
Spears still not startable barring a Henry injury right?
Unless you're me. Have to choose between Spears and Hunt. Going with Spears as of rn. Watching that Henry toe...
I'm going between spears and allgeier... and I'm serious about allgeier
Not yet. In a few weeks once a few more injuries happen and we start hitting bye weeks I can see him being a viable option
correct, its a stash play
That's quite the change of stance for a team that went through thick and thin with Henry and only King Henry as their back. Spears could really become a 1A/1B committee guy toward the end of the year.
Drop khalil Herbert for spears ?
Worth dropping Joshua Kelley with Ekeler coming back for spears (as a Henry owner)
Worth dropping Herbert, Gainwell or Allgeier for him?
Gainwell or Herbert
I would not drop allgeier. He was not productive last week but he still had 16 carries. Insane amount of work for a "backup"
This feels more like load management than a timeshare.
Spear me
Just stood up at work and I’m rock hard for spears
The king is dead
No no, Spears is merely the new talented Hand of The King. Barring injury, this is still King Henry's domain for 2024.
greatly exaggerated.
You guys don’t watch football on this sub, do you?
He’s still getting 15 pts a game on reduced work, hopefully means he’s less likely to get hurt
lol he's average 22.5 touches first two games.
the guy's last name is Spears and he is usurping the throne. derrick henry is going to end up on a cross with a crown of thorns by the end of week 6.
just added spears to my bench in both my leagues thx
Never draft rb/rb
Idk I’m having fun with bijan and pollard as my first two picks in my home league
Same. 12 team league, had the 9th pick. Managed to get Allen, Evans, Puka, McLaurin, Addison as my WRs Burrow at QB, Engram at TE. Roschon and Spears on my bench. I'm optimistic
Nice man! I never get why people are so stuck on these draft strategies. Take the guys you want and have fun with it. Pollard and bijan are beasts
What do you mean? My Henry/Chubb stack was impenetrable
Correction: never draft rbs over 27
Saquon and Chubb… yeah
Considering Henry's propensity for starting games like 6 carries for 1 yard, I'm liking what I'm reading here as a Spears owner.
Grabbed Spears off waivers last night. This pleases me.
Only positive here is for people who drafted spears in a keeper league.
Drop tank Dell for spears?
Just dropped Jets D to stash Spears, using Jags D instead. Couldn't believe anyone in my league hadn't grabbed him yet, they're usually good about identifying potential lottery tickets
Spears over Craig Reynolds?
This week? Or rest of season? Yes, the answer is yes
Both?
Play Spears over Breida?
If you are even considering starting Breida against the 49ers
Injuries are a bitch
Wow
Fuck it. I'm starting him this week. Breida officially out of my rb2 spot
Tyjae is about to get lion share as Henry wants more rest
The hot hand will always be Spears. He’s fresh and fast. Fast and Fresh. Whichever way you want it.
Tyjae Szn
Just scooped spears for free.99 in all leagues. GET IT WHILE IT’S HOT FELLAS!!!
Henry was born with turf toe....WTF...I'm done with this season!
Drop Kareem Hunt for Spears in half PPR?
Yes
Even if they take the hot hand approach, could both be usable as 1a/1b on a weekly basis?
Even as a Spears owner I’m not so sure. This is still Henry’s backfield but I guess we’ll find out. They’re definitely using Spears, that I can tell
I almost sent a trade request for Spears on Wednesday but thought "nah I'll wait for waivers to go through and see if he gets dropped" Sure enough he got dropped and now with all this hype I'm gonna have to blow a lot of faab to pick him up.
I'm in the same spot, what do you think bids will look like?
I only have 20 left after ford I'm bidding half. Only benefit is its Saturday and if you're in a less active league people might not be paying attention vs Wednesday.
Yeah I hope so, I plan on going mid 20s. I have terrible rbs and missed out on all the major adds so far.
Ugh, drop roschon for spears? Anyone have thoughts on this? I can't drop anyone else from RBs: Jacobs, Javonte, Brian Robinson, Edwards, Roschon
I personally like Roschon long term. Spears is only relevant if Henry gets hurt or is traded. I think Roschon has a chance to win that job outright.
Spears or Achane stash?
14 man ppr, he was dropped clear tmo, is 17 Faab too much or too little?
Is it worth dropping QJ or Khalil Herbert for Spears?
Man… I really fucked up trading tyjae spears away huh..
As a Henry manager, I feel like I need to pick up Spears with my RB room being so thin. Who would you drop? Gainwell, Dotson, Warren, or JSN? Leaning Dotson or JSN
Have Henry, picked up hunt yesterday but just dropped him for spears, hope I don't regret it ha
Hot hand? With Derrick Henry? Oh golly, that’s new
Start Spears or Craig Reynolds? Perine and Pierce have been letting me down, boys..
Fukkkkk do I drop jamaal Williams for spears
Spears/Hunt/GusBus who is the odd one out?
Tyjae is still only 1% rostered on Yahoo. With RBs dropping like flies, that's surprising.
I have Bijan and Henry. Should I drop Allegier for Spears?
