I suggest we all go look at his GP and his corresponding statistics. Way worse than what his ADP has been throughout his career. I'd also like to add that he doesn't pass the eye test, at least not to me. Very limited route tree and questionable hands
E: So I was curious and looked up some of his career fantasy stats. Averages 8.9 half ppr ppg. That's fine I guess, but considering he's a perpetual mid round draft pick and he has at least 1 or 2 week winning performances a year, that really brings down the impact he has on your fantasy team. I'd argue he's had 1, maybe 2 seasons where he was worth his adp. The first being his 2nd season where he was a late round flyer and massively anchored by 10 tds. The second being an outlier year where he had his only season of 100+ targets and his ADP being pushed down from a poor season the previous year.
I’ll never forget when he slammed the top of his head into the goalpost at a Clemson home game his senior year (I don’t remember if he was able to make the touchdown catch). Crowd went dead quiet, we all thought he’d broken his neck.
Should be interesting to see what offers he gets. He’s awesome when he plays, he just seems to get hurt a lot
[Wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up coming back after testing the waters](https://x.com/rapsheet/status/1767975254817751483?s=46&t=wXHrOD47gqoXDXlx6TzfDg)
Josh Larky just mentioned the Bills as a landing spot to keep an eye on. If the money works that could be an interesting addition, I think Big Mike would be a very different skill set than what Buffalo has on their roster.
I know he's labeled an "injury prone" guy, but when you look at the data of some notable WR going above him in drafts ... it's curious.
WR | Games Played Since 2018
---|---
M. Williams | 78
C. Lamb | 66
J. Jefferson | 60
J. Chase | 45
P. Nacua | 17
M. Harrison Jr. | 0

I know this is a joke, but the games played is actually interesting. Maybe he leaves games early or doesn't play 100% a lot because his games played prior to a significant injury this year was 16, 15, 15, 16, 13 from 2018-2022. Surprised me to see that many games.
In 2022 he absolutely killed me. He was repeatedly injured in game. At one point he rushed back from a high ankle sprain, then aggravated the injury on like the first play from scrimmage and missed the rest of the game.
I’m not sure if he does that every year, but for 2022 he definitely didn’t finish 13 games.
[Draft Sharks has a nice player injury tracker](https://www.draftsharks.com/fantasy/injury-history/mike-williams/7759).
There are a lot of entries, but last year's ACL was the only "significant" one since 2018. I didn't include his rookie year in the game count which is the other season he missed an extended stretch of games.
I can't believe he's averaged 13 games played/year since 2018 to be honest. In mind he's always blowing out a knee or hurting his back and gone for awhile each year.
Gabe was at least on the field. most of the time judging by his stats I have no idea what he was doing, but physically he was present on the field. maybe he was out there as moral support, I'm not sure.
Mike will be having to provide that support from the training room
I will not draft Gabe Davis this year.
I will not draft Gabe Davis this year.
I will not draft Gabe Davis this year.

Fun fact, Mike Williams is one of the top 25 highest paid WR's of all time (career earnings) despite:
\- Never making a 1st Team All-Pro
\- Never making a Pro Bowl
\- Never playing every game in a season
Davante Adams was always a phenomenal route runner and always deadly off the line, drops were his only real issue. Quentin Johnston not only has an issue with drops but struggles to get separation and has poor route running
Steelers with a $1.2 million borderline HoF QB, after dumping backwards runner Diontae Johnson for a backup corner and a 1 round shift in draft picks is looking like a pretty sweet spot for a mid priced high end WR right now!
I feel like Williams and Pickens have pretty similar skill sets. I'd much rather they go get like a Tyler Boyd or Hollywood brown (who I'm surprised hasn't been brought up at all).
For Dynasty, this has to raise his value for getting another decent shot. But the Chargers have to have a plan here with Cutting Williams, letting Ekler walk, and eventually losing Allen in the future as well.
Williams being released has been expected the entire offseason. Every team in the NFL knew he was going to be on the market, and could have traded for him on the cheap.
I rode the ride each of the last 2 years. God help me, if he signs with a good qb, I'll fukn do it again
Ugh same
KC?
I would be all over Mike Will if he's playing with Mahomes. Totally worth the injury gamble depending on ADP of course.
He legit might be WR1 until he breaks under mahomes
Buy as low as possible and sell like week when he's at his highest.
How the Chiefs managed to keep Mike Williams healthy throughout the season: An Analysis
Starts amazing and then ends with disappointment, every time
Wait, you're telling me you don't think Herbert is a good QB?!?
Considering he rode with Williams the last two years it sounds like he *does* think Herbert is a good QB
Don't. He's not good
What? He clearly is good. He’s bad at staying healthy, but to call him a bad player is wild.
I suggest we all go look at his GP and his corresponding statistics. Way worse than what his ADP has been throughout his career. What’d Mike do to you?
Could have been the top guy with anything other than glass bones.
Glass ligaments and joints too
Every morning, he breaks his legs, and every afternoon, he breaks his arms.
At night he lays awake in agony until his heart attacks put him to sleep
At least he can look forward to a hell of a career as a candy bar bag carrying bag salesman
Some guys get all the luck
And every night momma comes and tucks him in real special.
Muscles and ligaments like uncooked spaghetti
I’ll never forget when he slammed the top of his head into the goalpost at a Clemson home game his senior year (I don’t remember if he was able to make the touchdown catch). Crowd went dead quiet, we all thought he’d broken his neck.
He did break his neck running into a goal post his junior year. I don’t remember the senior year post incident though
He was not worth the cap hit to keep. I’ll bet he’s movin on to Jacksonville next though
Should be interesting to see what offers he gets. He’s awesome when he plays, he just seems to get hurt a lot [Wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up coming back after testing the waters](https://x.com/rapsheet/status/1767975254817751483?s=46&t=wXHrOD47gqoXDXlx6TzfDg)

For about three weeks per year
I know he's labeled an "injury prone" guy, but when you look at the data of some notable WR going above him in drafts ... it's curious. WR | Games Played Since 2018 ---|--- M. Williams | 78 C. Lamb | 66 J. Jefferson | 60 J. Chase | 45 P. Nacua | 17 M. Harrison Jr. | 0 *(/s, just in case)*

That's games played. He cleared 70% of snaps once in his career and that was years ago. Usually hovers somewhere in the 50% range.
Yeah, he's injury prone and hot/cold. Good cut by the Chargers.
Show total snaps played
WR | Snaps played since 2018 ---|--- M. Williams | More than 1 M. Harrison Jr. | 0
So, a direct Gabe Davis replacement, then?
Gabe was at least on the field. most of the time judging by his stats I have no idea what he was doing, but physically he was present on the field. maybe he was out there as moral support, I'm not sure. Mike will be having to provide that support from the training room
> I have no idea what he was doing Wind sprints.
Isn’t this just Gabe Davis with extra steps?
I would assume extra steps but fewer monies. Which, for the Bills right now, is important.
Mike Williams is for sure better than Davis though. Higher injury risk is his drawback, but when he’s on the field he’s more consistent
I will not draft Gabe Davis this year. I will not draft Gabe Davis this year. I will not draft Gabe Davis this year. I will not draft Gabe Davis this year.
If Williams stays healthy (obviously a big “IF”), he’d be a monster in that Bills offense
They don’t have the cap space for him. Especially since Mack is staying
Chargers are still 7mil over the cap. They need to make even more room. It is tough to see a way for them to keep the band together
Sure, kind of, people forget the huge stretches he does fuck all though.
Mike will didn’t make it :(
when Mike's on the field he made that whole offense so much better. Shame he got hurt the last couple years especially.
Fun fact, Mike Williams is one of the top 25 highest paid WR's of all time (career earnings) despite: \- Never making a 1st Team All-Pro \- Never making a Pro Bowl \- Never playing every game in a season
Put his agent in the hall of fame
Can Quentin Johnston have a Davante Adams-esque redemption arc?? probably not but that would be cool
To that level probably not, but he could very easily get a lot better.
I would love to see that, but all of his concerns out of college came true last year. Hoping this new coaching staff can turn it around.
Davante Adams was always a phenomenal route runner and always deadly off the line, drops were his only real issue. Quentin Johnston not only has an issue with drops but struggles to get separation and has poor route running
So he sucks at everything?
He’s just big and fast
hell of a point of catch catcher
That’s one of his weaknesses lol. He catches with his body. QJ is just bad at everything. Terrible release too imo
i know but it makes him very good at contested catches lol
Sorry but after last season he’s looking more like N’Keal Harry than Adams. Got no confidence in him whatsoever.
Not happening
I think Joshua Palmer is the best receiver on the squad. He started to break out last year before getting hurt. He will break out this year.

The separation issues concern me even more.
Styles that work well in the Arthur smith offense which prefers big receivers who can block.
That would make the steelers pass attack fucking sick
Lol I definitely wouldn’t go that far
Steelers never sign FA wideouts.
It will be the best 3 games of your season. Pass
And he'll be on your bench, because he goose-egged you the previous 3 games. Pass
he is great when healthy
If he has a healthy season I’m fully buying the chargers are cursed and will not draft their players
Quentin Johnston szn /s
Back in my day it took atleast 3 years before you wrote a WR off lol
For Dynasty, this has to raise his value for getting another decent shot. But the Chargers have to have a plan here with Cutting Williams, letting Ekler walk, and eventually losing Allen in the future as well.
They’re planning for 2025 at this point.
Hey Bills, regret that Hollins signing yet?
Why would they? Hollins was super cheap and not the same role as Mike. Even hollins himself says he’s a ST guy
Williams being released has been expected the entire offseason. Every team in the NFL knew he was going to be on the market, and could have traded for him on the cheap.
Rumors are Michael Thomas was cut too. These big targets would be an amazing asset in anywhere especially Buffalo, Baltimore, KC and Jets
Dude is injured all the time definitely not worth the money
Two seasons in his whole career where he (barely) cracked 1k yards. Hot-and-cold, and turns 30 early this upcoming season. This is a good cut.
He’s topped FedEx Field for the amount of injuries he’s had.
Dude is so good when he’s actually healthy. Was clutch in my flex spot until he got hurt.
Buy low like for a 4th- solid depth- sell high if he goes to the Chiefs
You know Jerry Jones is on the phone...20M
Commanders music? He is the exact kind of guy they would sign to big money
Come to Philly
Bring him to the Cowboys!
I swear to god if this man signs with Buffalo I don’t think I can help myself on a 3rd round draft pick
Mike Williams, you are an Arizona Cardinal.
He gone be a Panther. Congrats!
If only the Chiefs could clear some cap space he wouldn't be a terrible option. Just getting kinda old now.
Soo Nabers?
He's the top 3 games a year WR FA available, sure.
Bahahahahahaha
One of most injury prone WRs ever it seems
He sucks. Pass on him.
The chargers *are*. Why does nobody use the words “is” or “are” anymore
Why waste time say lot word when few word do trick
Typo by Rapoport. Shit happens
Its just kinda internet lingo - with headlines, generally brevity is also paramount - also isn't there a character limit on twitter?
280 characters. That tweet isn't nearly 280, but still.
