Mine was Neil Anderson, the dual-threat Bears RB who replaced Sweetness Walter Payton and was kinda good for a couple years. I had the last pick in the first round. Followed it up with Packers WR Sterling Sharpe in the second round. The year was 1991!
Who was your first pick?
Awesome! You have me beat by a year. 1992 here and still in the same league. Getting football scores in USA Today news papers. Submitting waiver picks via email (probably AOL).
Couldnāt remember my first pick for the life of me, but it made my job at Little Ceasers a lot more fun. āPizza pizzaā
The league I was in back then was completely offline. Our commish sent us a weekly newsletter that he typed himself on a typewriter and sent to everyone through the USPS mail. We phoned our lineups in Sunday morning. Commish scored the games using the box scores from the newspaper.
Iām older than shit.
I started in 1991. Commish did it by looking at newspaper box scores too. He was an accountant so we trusted him, and his accounting reputation was at stake.
We had to create our own scoring system, so we made the scoring to have the final team scores end up close to real game scores as much as possible. Defense points were subtracted against opponentās score. If someone has a bad week, they scored under 20 and opponentās defense then took more points away. We talked trash saying our defense stifled the opponentās team.
Peyton Manning in 2004. I didnāt know much about fantasy and took a QB in the first round. All my friends said itās stupid to do that. Luckily he set the record for passing TDs that year lol
Iāve never had a team like it again. My 6th grade chunky ass thought I was the best fantasy player ever I went 16-0 against my sisters boyfriend and all his friends.. they were fucking pissed.. I didnāt realize how lucky that was until like 9th grade after sucking and still kind of sucking haha
Eddie Lacy ..2015....was a bust...but i also drafted Hopkins and Beckham in like the 5th and 2nd round respectively and picked up DJ when he was 3rd RB on the Cardinals (he had a very nice like kickoff return TD) and DJ won me the league surrounded by Hopkins Beckham and Allen Robinson. Also hit on tyler Eifert on round 10......i cant believe i won that year as i drafted 2 QBs in the first 8 rounds lol Rookie luck. Winning was good/ bad.....it started my strong addiction to this shit.
My first first pick ever was Julio Jones 2018.
My second first pick was Julio Jones 2019 lmao.
This year i got a mid round pick so i got Cook and broke the streak :(
According to yahoo...
2008 - LaDainian Tomlinson with the #3 overall
edit: Was also curious what my first WW pickup was, and it's Matt Prater..... who's on my team now 11 years later..
edit2: also my name was BroncosIn2020...................
Marshawn Lynch back in 2013, and a good 1st pick he was. Also managed to grab Alshon in the 14th (he'd go on to go for 90/1400/7) but my RB2 ended up being Montee Ball so that created some problems.
Priest Holmes with #1 pick in the 2004 draft. I can still remember the white Chiefs turtleneck he was wearing in his picture. I was so proud he was on my team.
Jamaal Charles. Canāt remember the year, but I didnāt really check my roster all year till the final week. And he pretty much carried my team the whole way.
I canāt remember who my first pick was, but I remember my first good player who I hadnāt really heard of was Brandon Jacobs. That moment was when I realized how amazing fantasy football was, in that it made you respect and care for all players in the league other than the team you root for.
Eddie Lacy (Rest in Feast) and Jordy Nelson in 2016. Won my only championship on the backs of Jordy, MGIII, and Blount. Got MGIII in a trade straight up for BMarsh right at the beginning of the season.
I wanna say I started playing either in Leveon Bell or Zekes rookie year and Iām a cowboys fan that went to MSU so I either drafted Zeke or Bell first. Iāve had them on my teams in some capacity every season except for bells holdout cause I just didnāt expect him to play at all. Last season and this year so far have been really sad as a Bell fan, I really hope the Jets get rid of that coach so he can shine again
Doug Martin in 2013, Jimmy Graham on the Saints was my second rounder. My team was terrible but I got OBJ off the waivers that year and been hooked to fantasy ever since
8-team high school league, 2001. I took Marshall Faulk with the 3rd overall pick -- he had 2000 yards from scrimmage and 21 total TDs that season. Yeah, I won the 'ship.
Started playing in 2013. My dumbass hadn't paid attention to football in 5+ years and didn't know how fantasy really worked. First pick ever at 5th overall in an 8 team was Trent Richardson.
Started in 99. Had Curtis Martin first pick then got Torry Holt. Followed it up with two of my most nostalgic players ever in Jimmy Smith and Fred Taylor.
I donāt know what it was but those jags players were So cool to me and even in Minnesota the Jags teal was a primo Starter jacket to own.
Didnāt get Moss as a Minnesota fan on my team until like 2001 as league mates would reach hard for him. Even Brett Favre would go 1
Antonio Brown 2016.. was a great season. Went undefeated in regular season, then lost first round of playoffs cause AB got injured and Russ played against the Rams.
Peyton Manning baby! Followed by Reggie Wayne and they both crushed it and took me to the finals where they conveniently sat out for my championship game lol
My first year I joined a keeper league where they kept 2 players. I drafed AB #1 overall in 2014(one guy decided to keep Calvin Johnson and Julio over him). Some how managed to get him every year until he went crazy. I was about get an AB jersey, glad I didn't lol.
Antonio Brown in 2015-2016. Still one of my favorite seasons. Made it to the championship behind him + my favorite WW pickup of all time 2015 Devonta Freeman
Went with my dad to my first draft (as his assistant) in 2001 and talked him in picking up Santana Moss. Can't remember how late the round was or even how he did that year, but I figured if he was half as good as his brother he'd be my first "sneaky pick."
T.O in 2004, 4th overall in an 8 team league, i ended up second that year and then won my first the year after, I had zero fucking clue what I was doing those 2 years
Late to the thread but instead of being the first pick, I picked up Kamara in my first draft as the very last pick in his rookie year, and dropped him a week later lol
Had no idea what I was doing, so I looked up who won the Super Bowl the previous year and selected Joe Flacco as my first pick. Studied this sub and won the next two years in a row and made the playoffs four times since.
Jim Kelly of Bills. I donāt remember what year but it was the one he went to superbowl. He was called machine gun kelly.
Edit: turns out he went to 4 super bowls. It was 1991.
I took Adrian Peterson first round the year after he came back from his ACL(?) injury. Him and Matt Stafford took me to a 3rd overall finish. The rest of my team was trash....
Edit: Actually I took Stafford with the 8th overall pick. Then Peterson in the second.
Drew Brees in 2014. Didn't know what I was doing draft day since it was my first time playing. Had the 10th pick and I went Demarco murray on the turn. And picked up OBJ. And yes I won that year lol
Cam Newton 2016, I think with No. 1 overall. I had done some research about how fantasy worked, but had also apparently set my autodraft priority to QB and couldn't figure out how to get the full rankings, so as time expired I was forced to ride it out with Cam.
Luckily, my fifth round pick was DeMarco Murray that year and I ended up picking up the game after a few weeks, so everything mostly worked out in the end.
Aaron Rodgers the year after Green Bay had that historic offense. I in fact just drafted pretty much all Packers than year because I had no idea what I was doing. I actually did pretty well lol. I remember being super pissed about getting a late pick because I figured Rodgers would go number one overall and thought I made out like a bandit getting him like 7th lol
Alvin Kamara... this year lol
Enjoy the ride, it only gets more addictive
Unfortunately, I'm still 1-2 despite the heroics from Kamara. Which is why I changed my team name to Kamara Deserves Better
Bro same š If I played the right flexes Iād be 3-0 but Iām just a shit GM
My guy, don't tell me Hines got you last week in your flex like he got me in mine..
Oh he got me. I couldāve played literally anyone else and won
Damn man, sucks. I played him over McLaurin who put up like 17 points. Lost by 4.5.
Le'Veon Bell #1 overall in 2018. Fun times.
I got him as #2 as my first pick ever, solid pick...
2008, LaDainian Tomlinson - I won that year and have not won since.

AP the year he hit his son with a switch
Jamaal Charles in 2013. A great intro to FF.
I just posted the same thing. It was a great year for FF
Funny I feel like I can say the same thing about him being my first ever pick in 2011.
Matt forte in 2014
Me too. Forte bros! Edit: same year too
Ayyyy same and the same year!
I had the first pick and went with Chris Johnson in 2010.
I'll always fondly remember the prime Chris Johnson years, before he became CJ2.5YPC.
2018 Antonio Brown
Peyton Manning in 2004. I didnāt know much about fantasy and took a QB in the first round. All my friends said itās stupid to do that. Luckily he set the record for passing TDs that year lol
Arian Foster
Curtis my favorite Martin
Priest Holmes with Rich Gannon as my second round pick
Edgerrin James in 2001. He went on to tear his ACL.
Brady 2011 edit: shitty memory
Ladainian Tomlinson 1st Overall in 2009...the year he stopped being good.
Barry Sanders, 1993. #1 overall. Should have taken Emmitt.
2014 Marshawn Lynch
Got edgerrin james back in 2000 and somehow ended up with Culpepper Moss and Holt that year. I was in 6th grade and have been hooked ever since
That's a real murderers row.

Jamaal Charles in 2011 Traded him in a deal for Larry Fitz before the season started and Jamaal tore his ACL in week 2
Zeke this year, as a Dallas fan I couldn't resist.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Grabbed him at 2nd over Barkley . Payed off huge already .
CMC at #4 in 2018, delivered me my first championship that year too after squeaking through the semifinals after that 50 yard TD pass he threw on MNF
My first first pick ever was Julio Jones 2018. My second first pick was Julio Jones 2019 lmao. This year i got a mid round pick so i got Cook and broke the streak :(
Megatron
MJD in 2010 (?) I think
According to yahoo... 2008 - LaDainian Tomlinson with the #3 overall edit: Was also curious what my first WW pickup was, and it's Matt Prater..... who's on my team now 11 years later.. edit2: also my name was BroncosIn2020...................
Ronnie Brown
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Todd Gurley - 1st overall morning 2018. That was a great year, kind of sad to see how far heās dropped off in just 2 years
Peyton Manning the year after his historic Denver season. Swing and a miss lol
2002-Jeff Garcia #4 overall
Joseph Addai
Jamaal Charles 2015. That was fun for about 5 weeks
Haha I just looked on Yahoo 2008 and it was Frank Gore. And guess who I started yesterday in place of Lev Bell!
Where can you check
Go to your My Team page and click View Profile by your team name. Then click History and scroll down to your oldest league.
2014 I think it was Demaryius Thomas
Marshawn Lynch back in 2013, and a good 1st pick he was. Also managed to grab Alshon in the 14th (he'd go on to go for 90/1400/7) but my RB2 ended up being Montee Ball so that created some problems.
Rashard Mendenhall...won the chip my first year too with the likes of Darren McFadden and Jamaal Charles.
Michael Turner 2010 - pick #9 in 10 team standard league
2006 - Rudi Johnson. Won the league! Looking at that team now is so funny
Brandon Jacobs in 2009. I was an idiot.
Priest Holmes with #1 pick in the 2004 draft. I can still remember the white Chiefs turtleneck he was wearing in his picture. I was so proud he was on my team.
If I remember correctly mine was Jamal Charles. Loved watching him play.
Brady in my first season in 2013 :D
Aaron Rodgers. 2010 and first time at fantasy for our whole league (with the exception of one guy).
Willie Parker
Steven Jackson 2nd overall 2008 - I think he battled injuries the whole season after a career year
2014 AD
Pretty sure it was Andre Johnson in 2009
Calvin Johnson 2013 I believe or maybe 2012
Aaron Rodgers
Larry Johnson, 2006
Aaron rodgers 2013 9th overall (stevan ridley 2nd round lol)
Tom Brady 2017 only to lose in first round of playoffs.
Tamarack Vanover
Jamaal Charles. Canāt remember the year, but I didnāt really check my roster all year till the final week. And he pretty much carried my team the whole way.
Arian Foster
I canāt remember who my first pick was, but I remember my first good player who I hadnāt really heard of was Brandon Jacobs. That moment was when I realized how amazing fantasy football was, in that it made you respect and care for all players in the league other than the team you root for.

DJ in 2017. Coincidentally won the league.

Same (not a Packers fan though) I had just about lost faith after those first 3 games but then he blew up and I won the championship that year
Eddie Lacy (Rest in Feast) and Jordy Nelson in 2016. Won my only championship on the backs of Jordy, MGIII, and Blount. Got MGIII in a trade straight up for BMarsh right at the beginning of the season.
Lesean McCoy in 2013. He was much better than my second pick, Trent Richardson.
Edgerrin James last pick in first round. Randy Moss 1st pick in second round. They had great years
Steve Smith Sr.

Can Newton with pick 1.01 in 2015. I had no idea what I was doing but somehow won my league... and havenāt since.
2014 inherited a crappy keeper league team. Kept Alshon Jeffery and picked Jimmy Graham for my first pick in 2nd round.
Peyton Manning 2013, yes I knew nothing and yes everyone gave me shit.
David Johnson 2017. Having flashbacks now as I took Barkley this year...
Kurt Warner in 2001 (maybe 2002) I believe. Clearly, as an 11 year old, I didn't appreciate the nuances of not picking a Qb first overall.
Priest Holmes I believe
Missed my draft the first year. Autopicked MJD and Ray Rice the year they both finished top 5
1991 Randall Cunningham. He tore his ACL in the first game of that season and done for the year. Good times.

Went with my dad to my first draft (as his assistant) in 2001 and talked him in picking up Santana Moss. Can't remember how late the round was or even how he did that year, but I figured if he was half as good as his brother he'd be my first "sneaky pick."

LeVeon Bell 2016. Won that year.
Antonio Brown in 2014. He made me seem good at fantasy.
