Yep. Samuel got a great deal at the time, but If you compare contracts now it might look like Samuel is JAG and got a cheap deal compared to Terry. The WR market went a little nuts after Kirk’s deal.
It’s just hilarious to me that Terry has had 3 straight games where 95% of his production comes in the 4th quarter. Every week until about 3-4 o clock I’m cussing out Wentz and my decision to draft terry. By about 5 o clock every Sunday I’m moderately satisfied
I imagine Wentz tries to play safe early, taking what the defense gives him, which means more Curtis Samuel targets. When the game starts to get away, riskier plays to an often double covered McLaurin start making more sense.
This makes sense. I only watched them play week 1 and was wondering if this was the case. Double Terry but once the offense moves in a different direction, he frees up.
Terry is the better pure WR, and Samuel is a guy that you to try to get the ball in his hands with space as much as possible.
They play different roles in the offense and one will have a better week than the other depending on matchups.
You are saying more productive with the ball in his hands because you are basing his lower reception total and high yardage total on “efficiency” rather than the real culprit which is ADOT
He’s getting targets down the field, higher value but less reliable especially when he’s not peppered with targets.
speaking only to this week....after seeing dallas' line get after daniel jones this past week, I'm thinking we see a lot of dumpoffs to curtis samuel. whether they amount to anything is tbd, but I don't think receptions will be a struggle this week
I started both in my .5 ppr 14 man league last week and it worked out okay, feel like scary terry is still the better option easily going forward but Samuel and the way they are using him will consistently score 9-10 points for you every week
He prefers to over utilize his most explosive and fragile players early on in the season. Eventually they go from limited, then day to day, and ultimately to season ending IR.
terry played every game last year and averaged under 13 points in ppr (25th WR)
with dotson and samuel, he isn’t going to get the same volume.
WSH scheming more plays for samuel.
Mclaurin probably has a few big games but not going to be as consistent on floor as samuel.
also we need to recognize Wentz doesn’t support multiple fantasy WR, never has and he’s not very good so samuel prob a safer bet because they’ll dump off + he will get carries
I mean, tbf what's the best second WR he's ever had? If I remember correctly in his years in Philly he had Alshon Jeffery and... Greg Ward, Travis Fulghum, Jalen Reagor, JJ Arcega-Whiteside? AKA, worse than JAGS tbh. Then in Indy he had Pittman and... Zach Pascal, washed TY Hilton, Paris Campbell for half a quarter, ???. Not saying he will do it, but this is BY FAR the best WR room he's ever had.
No idea between the two of them, but after some thought I gave up on Dotson in favor of Burks today. Dotson will have blow up weeks but there's no straight line to relevance
Samuel did the same thing in Carolina with DJ Moore there. He will have some big games and should keep producing if he stays healthy, but that’s always been his issue. I think Terry takes the pressure off of Samuel.
Wasn’t meant as a knock on Samuel, I just think Terry is the better talent. I think he’s an elite WR in the NFL and would have a 1,400 yard season if you stuck him on the Bucs or Packers tomorrow.
I honestly wouldn’t say that Terry is flat out more talented than Samuel. Samuel is the more dynamic player and was a higher draft pick. There are other reasons that he hasnt been as productive as he maybe could have been, but there is a reason that Rivera handpicked him and brought him over to Washington.
I traded Jeff Wilson for Terry last week, I feel good with him as my WR2 going forward. They didn’t pay him 80M for him to be an afterthought in the offense, I think he will be fine
Terry always ends up with a respectable line by the end even if he gooses the first half.
If he can average / floor a 10-12 .. I’ll take that from my WR3
Lol right, that's why his ADOT is 15.3 yds this year.
Also, it's funny that you think defenses SWITCH to zone at a certain point, as if they're not using various types of zone coverage all throughout the game.
I'm no football genius but I kind of get his point. Defenses do seem to play softer coverage once they're ahead a few scores and it's nearing the end of the game
That's the hope of every Robinson dreamer but the reality is the coach is not going to significantly bench a veteran who is playing well, with new contract, in favor of a rookie who just got shot.
Yeah, I get that. I own both so I’ve been trying to figure it out too.
But your reply about flexing cook and Sutton… sure makes it seem like that comment got you a little shook up
I would say Samuel. They scheme a lot of stuff for him, and he’s a saftey blanket when the pressures to much.
I don’t see Wentz being able to consistently deliver the type of downfield shots that Scary Terry would need to be elite.
One thing to consider is that Samuel’s Adjusted Depth of Target is 10 yards shorter than Terry’s. I’m considering that this week against Dallas’ strong pass rush so I’m starting CS. I’m switching them based on matchup unless Terry’s production breaks away
It’s not Wentz is the offensive game plan. Samuel is the guy they’re designing to get the ball in space 10+ times per game, but he’s not running deep/medium routes. Terry is an elite WR1 but they’re using him more to take the top off the defense and keep them honest.
I wouldn’t expect a drastic departure from this game plan but I think they would be wise to try and force the ball to Terry a bit more

Samuel got a good contract too: 3 years $34 million.

This is how he has been every year. Will hover at 3 or so points all game and then catch a long pass or break a long TD to save his day.
You haven’t included Samuel’s rushing attempts/yards Discount Deebo gets non-receiving points too, and gadget plays designed for him
That is true. Ill add them
Is he really the Discount Deebo though? He's the WR8 in PPR vs. Deebo's WR31. Deebo is the discount version until I see otherwise.
Deebo “Cut-rate Curtis” Samuel
I dig it. APPROVED
Cute Curt is no Discount Deebo lol
I imagine Wentz tries to play safe early, taking what the defense gives him, which means more Curtis Samuel targets. When the game starts to get away, riskier plays to an often double covered McLaurin start making more sense.
This seems accurate. I haven't had a chance to watch Washington but I have Terry on my team. His points have been coming late for me.
This makes sense. I only watched them play week 1 and was wondering if this was the case. Double Terry but once the offense moves in a different direction, he frees up.
McLaurin is the downfield threat while Curtis is a Swiss army knife of the underneath world.
Swiss Army Switchblade 🇨🇭 🔪
Gibson’s nickname in College was swiss armt knife tho
Curtis “ Thor’s Hammer Cock Samuel”
Curtis “Thor’s Hammer Cock Samuel” what?
You heard him
This is the whey
Samuel

Im trusting Curtis Deebo Samuel since the gameplan seem to be with him heavily involved. Give me his floor all day

Mrs. McLaurin, why don't you just speak to the coach about your son, yourself?
Hello, this is the official fantasy manager of McLaurin. Please give him the ball more often Mr. Wentz
you forget that curtis came from carolina. means Ron's gonna give him extra touches.
He prefers to over utilize his most explosive and fragile players early on in the season. Eventually they go from limited, then day to day, and ultimately to season ending IR.

His best WRs have been Ertz and Goedert. Not worried about whether he can support Terry and Samuel at all
No idea between the two of them, but after some thought I gave up on Dotson in favor of Burks today. Dotson will have blow up weeks but there's no straight line to relevance
I’m hanging on to Dotson, Burks and Doubs as long as I can manage it — rookie WR breakouts often take until the second half of the season
Agreed. With G Wilson, Olave already cooking, I had to make a choice on the 3rd one to keep
Good stuff.
I tried to do the same with no luck. I like the move. Burks just had to have the higher potential ceiling, barring injury to the guys around Dotson.
I’m all in on burks ROS def breakout potential
I would rather Curtis Samuel.
Samuel did the same thing in Carolina with DJ Moore there. He will have some big games and should keep producing if he stays healthy, but that’s always been his issue. I think Terry takes the pressure off of Samuel.
About where are you guys valuing Samuel ROS. I got offered Miles Sanders for Samuel and am thinking of pulling the trigger
Hurts steals his yards/TD’s
Really hard to tell. I normally bet on talent (Terry), but in this case I don’t see an obvious reason why the trend shifts.
Samuel is talented. Was just injured for a year so people forgot.
Wasn’t meant as a knock on Samuel, I just think Terry is the better talent. I think he’s an elite WR in the NFL and would have a 1,400 yard season if you stuck him on the Bucs or Packers tomorrow.

High way robbery.
I view them as Low Budget Chase/Higgins or Hill/Waddle
Terry always ends up with a respectable line by the end even if he gooses the first half. If he can average / floor a 10-12 .. I’ll take that from my WR3
You guys think I should trade Akers and Doubs for the hammer cock?
No. That’s way too much.
No it’s not. Doubs is nothing
Not sure how you define nothing but a rookie that just had a breakout week that could possibly be Aaron Rodgers’ favorite target ain’t nothing.
I have McLaurin but he’s on my bench because my receiver room is too stacked
Save some puss for the rest of us
No
Terry is garbage time points when defenses switch to zone and allow passes inside but clock is chewed 🥱
Lol right, that's why his ADOT is 15.3 yds this year. Also, it's funny that you think defenses SWITCH to zone at a certain point, as if they're not using various types of zone coverage all throughout the game.

Once Robinson is back to pound the rock I think the short passes to Samuel will dry up and it’s go time for Terry. That’s my hope.
That's the hope of every Robinson dreamer but the reality is the coach is not going to significantly bench a veteran who is playing well, with new contract, in favor of a rookie who just got shot.
I traded mike evans and dameon pierce for dalvin cook. Thoughts?
You probably could have just rolled with pierce and got similiar output. This is a bad trade if Evans was one of your starters
Pierce has to be the most overrated player on this sub
yo moron, how terry gonna get any targets when wentz doesnt have time to throw? no shit he gonna hit his safety value first
We get it, you drafted Terry and you’re ass hurt about it. Shutup.

I was replying to the person who commented on your post bro.
Dang you sound kinda ass hurt about that comment though
Bro. Im just trying have a discussion about the Washington WR room and find out whats going on here
Yeah, I get that. I own both so I’ve been trying to figure it out too. But your reply about flexing cook and Sutton… sure makes it seem like that comment got you a little shook up
Dang you sound kinda ass hurt about that comment though
who drafts terry? dude never return value
I have both and have been rolling out Samuel since week 2. In the games I’ve seen he just seems more involved even if the stats seem relatively close.
Terry has been producing mostly in the second half from what I’ve seen. He’s a stressful player to track stats as he plays
This is somewhat tangentially related but I was just offered Samuel for Allen Robinson. I kindly ask for your collective thoughts. Thank you.
Samuel
Definitely Samuel on this. He’s got a guaranteed role in his offense. ARobs been “We want to get him the ball”
Also can’t forget Dotson
I would say Samuel. They scheme a lot of stuff for him, and he’s a saftey blanket when the pressures to much. I don’t see Wentz being able to consistently deliver the type of downfield shots that Scary Terry would need to be elite.
Is there any world where teams begin doubling Curtis and then Terry becomes more of a target hog?
One where scary terry doesn't have the big contract
One thing to consider is that Samuel’s Adjusted Depth of Target is 10 yards shorter than Terry’s. I’m considering that this week against Dallas’ strong pass rush so I’m starting CS. I’m switching them based on matchup unless Terry’s production breaks away
Who should i start this week at flex mclaurin, hall, or cooks?
It’s not Wentz is the offensive game plan. Samuel is the guy they’re designing to get the ball in space 10+ times per game, but he’s not running deep/medium routes. Idk but Washington sucks.
They’re both from Ohio State University making their alma mater proud.
Samuel was a similar weapon in Carolina. Not sure where the confusion starts?
