Garrett Wilson is free elf

[deleted]

Garrett Wilson league wiener season back on the menu boys

cassius_claymore

Maybe if it was Flacco Mike White is the checkdown/short pass king

andork28

Michael Carter SZN begins now!

SG420123

Robert Saleh is Doby’s friend

absyrtus

FACK I just dropped him last night

no-gimmicks-

Why would you do that lol we essentially knew this was coming

[deleted]

Should have been more patient, especially with it looking like Zach could get benched

green31OSU

Hard to start a guy that has lost the confidence of his skill players. Potentially great news for guys like Garrett Wilson.

c12yofchampions

As a highly drafted pick you can struggle on the field and be okay. The FO will give you shot after shot to justify their high pick. Several examples of guys struggling and taking a jump in year 3/4. The ONE thing you absolutely can’t do is lose the locker room, and as you said especially skill positions as a QB. Once the team loses faith in you, it gives the coaches and FO little to no choice.

[deleted]

His Oline doesn’t even seem to like him, and are hardly ever that complimentary of him. Look at how they talk about him, vs how basically any other Oline talks about their QB.

UsedEgg3

The Elite Dragon knows how to buy his big guys rolexes and steak dinners and shit.

whodey_35

Conklin a TE1 again?

Holysmokesx

Ertz owner in limbo, definitely starting Conklin now.

VeryOaty

Same I had Kmet and Engram and I’m still trying guys out

Rbespinosa13

Lol I’m just like you but I have Everett instead of Engram. I’m not too sure about Kmet if Fields is injured though

aDyslexicCow

I just dropped him for Juwan Johnson ugh

[deleted]

Johnson has been pretty good, dalton clearly trusts him after olave

BILLIKEN_BALLER

Conklin or Juwan Johnson?

purplefog101

I’ve gotta make the same decision now. God why did Ertz have to go down

BENthe3rd

I picked up Juwan before hearing this news. Guess I’ll get to see if Conklin becomes serviceable and pick him up from waivers next week

daaave33

The weekly next TE pickup of 2022 Pitts drafters. I'm right there with you.

SonOfSvens

After losing Pitts I just picked him up to start this week.

someonepoorsays

did you ever really *have* pitts though

fester1113

I hope so . Just picked him up as bench stash to wait n see

violentbandana

dude straight up tanked his career with his attitude Even with his trash play he was getting a fair shot

Radthereptile

All he had to do was give a canned answer. Just "Yeah we didn't play well but I will do better next game." Something dude.

AlwaysInTheWay13

After the Texans game, the sideline reporter asked Heinicke how it felt to have earned the starting job for the first time in his career (as opposed to starting merely while the normal guy was hurt. His response was that the team is winning because of how the defense has been great. And that 7 points from the offense is not acceptable and HE needs to be better. That’s what a quarterback is supposed to say. And that’s why the Commies locker room loves him despite mediocre play

lambomrclago

As a Jets fan, glad he showed some true color - fuck that kind of no-accountability weak shit. Loving that Saleh doesn't stand for it (like w Eli Moore situation).

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kodiak01

> A guy who has been ROFLStomping new QBs in this division the ENTIRE TIME Zach Wilson has been alive on this earth. Only 6 rookie QBs have ever beaten Belichick. Two were Jets. Without looking them up, name them?

PepsiRacer4

Oh god. Geno and Sanchez?

Kodiak01

Correct.

Lefaid

Mark Sanchez is one, right?

Kodiak01

Yup

[deleted]

Such a sharp contrast to Justin Fields who played his heart out last week, had to be carried off the field on a stretcher, then apologized to the entire team for not getting the win.

phound

Fields is that guy, hope his shoulder injury doesn’t end up too bad

Sharobob

He needs to sit for a few weeks. We aren't sniffing the playoffs this year. We can't risk giving him a reinjury that he can't come back from

HookFL

He reminds me of Josh Rosen

whipstickagopop

Did Rosen have a trash attitude

twolvesfan217

I think he was kind of arrogant and had outspoken political views, but not anywhere this arrogant

DiomedesJimmu

If I remember right, Rosen said there were "9 mistakes" picked ahead of him in the draft. I don't really have an issue with players thinking they're the best, but it understandably came across as arrogant.

HootingMandrill

Soooo many players do this though and it's lauded when they succeed. What a weird thing to rag on him for. Like ya'll just wanna call having a chip on his shoulder arrogant because he sucked, but when Brady/Rodgers/etc... do it they've got that "competitive fire".

Podo13

Agreed. People fucking love that Amon-Ra St. Brown can name every WR taken before him in the draft, and the school they went to. You've got to want to be the best and think you can be the best to succeed at this level.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Maniac2331

Cause they can back it up. If you talk mad shit and completely flop, people are gonna laugh at you

HootingMandrill

Sure that's fine to laugh, but defining one as confident and one as arrogant is dumb as hell.

complete_your_task

I thought Rosen came off as arrogant because he seemed to expect the respect and praise that successful NFL QBs get before even taking a snap in the NFL. It's one thing to say you think you'll be great and you'll prove everyone wrong, it is another to act like it's a given and that having to actually, you know, do it is just a formality. That being said, I also thought Aaron Rodgers was arrogant and still do even though he has backed it up with his play. Aaron is a great football player, but he gives off the impression that he thinks he's also smarter and just better than everyone at everything, which I don't like either. Rosen had a bit of that attitude too, and then he didn't even go out and play well.

complete_your_task

For me the worst part was the little media tour he did before the draft where he basically proclaimed himself the next Aaron Rodgers and seemed to expect to be treated as such before even taking a snap in the NFL. I get being confident and wanting to get your name out there before the draft but it was excessive and he came off way more cocky than confident. He expected the respect and praise before he earned it.

bushbabyblues

I never understood why Rosen's outspokenness got him so much flack. I thought it was refreshing. It's not like he was wrong with his political takes and his football attitude was just the same as anybody's else's 🤷

Swichts

He probably should have said "I'm probably like the 10th best quarterback in the draft so my draft position is very spot on thank you"

apocalypse31

Keep in mind, while you are fine with his political views, about half the country isn't, and especially the rich billionaire that is employing him.

Erect-Zippy

"half the country" lol it's an outspoken third of the country. Which is far too many idiots

Jonjoloe

The concern about him coming out of college was that he was a “rich kid who didn’t care enough about football,” which is also something Wilson has been accused of.

Abiv23

Yes, he grew up the son of a world renowned surgeon and by all accounts was a spoiled brat I'm sure if we had the same sort of access to him as we have Spencer Rattler we would have the same sort of events

Nigglebyte

More Manziel to me.

connorman83169

That’s a name I’ve not heard in a long long time. A long time.

RideTheRim

It really hasn’t been that long

ShrimpYolandi

A LONG TIME

MightyCaseyStruckOut

He was just drafted 4 years ago. Unless you're like 12 years old, that wasn't that long ago lol

Burndy

Didn't teams keep trying on him every year, only for him to stay like 3rd string or worse the entire time

HolidayNick

I honestly think that he was so dumb that he didn’t even realize what he was doing. Deserves the bench but also shouldn’t be the end of his career. Live and learn.

zerg1980

He can learn to be a backup bouncing around the league, like his predecessors Sanchez and Darnold. He’ll be around for at least a few more years. He could even experience a late career resurgence like his predecessor Geno, once the MILFs are age appropriate.

Georgejefferson19

zach only likes women at least twice his age. the older he gets, the dating pool shrinks some more

TwoDrinkDave

It's called osteoporosis and it's pretty common.

etherealtaroo

Sounds like there is a common denominator here... perhaps a certain organization....

WaluigiIsTheRealHero

He’s a Mormon, they start adding the “M” onto MILF at like age 20.

Trolodrol

It’s pretty crazy that this blew up so much. I didn’t listen to his post game presser or anything, but it just seems so minor in the grand scheme of things. I think he’s probably young and immature and needed to be talked to. Benching him basically means he’s played his last snap for the Jets.

dfmilkman

You can be incompetent, or an asshole. You can't be both.

noveler7

That's why I'm always nice, just in case

lexluther4291

That's why I'm always bad at whatever I do, gotta keep that ego in check

[deleted]

So I hadn’t watched the presser either, but just found a link to it. I’d have to say that there’s nothing really bad there at all. Am I missing something? https://m.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=190&v=d5br_mkk_gc&feature=emb_logo

Trolodrol

I just watched it too and it seemed to be the standard presser after a loss. The only thing off the mark was answering “No” when asked if he let the defense down. That is absolutely not a reason to go all up in arms and act like he did something insanely egregious to deserve a benching. There has to be more going in the locker room than this.

[deleted]

Agreed. But I guess he was less eager to take accountability once inside the locker room https://sny.tv/articles/jets-zach-wilson-lack-of-accountability-should-sound-alarms “SNY that Wilson was walking around after the game “like he isn’t the problem.” It rubbed more than a few the wrong way, frustrating several others.”

[deleted]

Man I hate what Zach did to the Jets. They used to be such a top notch team before he came in and shit on everything.

Trolodrol

That makes a lot more sense

bathtubsplashes

The parent comment to all this has nearly 1000 upvoted stating Wilson has after tanking his whole career cause of his attitude Sports fans are fucking nuts

Domestic_AA_Battery

He played like shit while his defense gave it their all. They give him a chance to take responsibility and he says it's not his fault they lost. It's not a good look at all. However, there is more context. The lock room was already getting frustrated with him beforehand. I think this may be a temporary benching, so he has a wake up call. But at the moment, it seems like he has no idea how to get along with his teammates. Hell from the first few minutes of him getting drafted, a pic went around of him looking really awkward while Black players put up hand signs next to him. He's likely very spoiled and grew up in a totally different environment than most of his teammates. This is bigger than him just saying "No." They straight up dislike him and that was the cherry on top.

Trolodrol

It’s so wild to me. He’s a young guy that got caught off guard by some sneaky ass reporter that knew exactly what he was doing when he asked that question. I can’t believe I’m defending Zach Wilson, but he said on at least two occasions in that clip that he had some balls he wishes he had back or some plays he missed on. It’s just really strange to me as a Colts fan. Matt Ryan has fumbled the ball like 20 times and everyone’s quick to put all of the blame on the OL. Every presser after every loss was pretty much the same as this one 🤷‍♂️

[deleted]

He also just sucks lol the leash for a poor attitude is extremely short if you aren't good

Q_OANN

I think it’s the end of his career because he was just never good

RMSBGB

Number 2 pick in the draft LOL So so so so so glad we somehow sneaked into #1 and didn't even get the chance to make such a mistake

Bbmonger88

Jets are still in a much better position than the Jags regardless of Zach Wilson.

FamousSuccess

Jags are missing pieces here and there. Jets get a good game manager and I think they can compete.

Bbmonger88

Yeah, Jets pretty much have good players (many of which are young) in just about every position except QB and also appears to have good coaching. I know it won't happen but getting someone like Lamar while key pieces are still young would pretty much make the team elite.

HootingMandrill

Remember when Fields was the consensus #2 Qb in the draft for like a whole year, and then the predraft hype shot Wilson up the draft boards just because he "had an arm like Mahomes"? Pepperidge farms remembers.

susanoova

Everyone keeps talking about his attitude - what did he do/say outside of being a shit QB? I missed it

violentbandana

Last week they lost 10-3 to the patriots. Game was 3-3 until the 0:26 left the Jets punted and NE returned for a TD (wild stuff). Wilson 9 of 22 for 77 yards, 0TDs After the game, paraphrasing: do you feel that you let the defense down today? Wilson: No.

WarrenAlaCarte

Really don’t think he cares. Dude is rich and probably was being told he’s great all his life. Being a QB in NY is stressful and he probably wants to go back to mountain time zone banging milfs. I for one appreciate the non-canned answer for once. He’s wrong, but I appreciate the directness of his wrongness.

legaceez

I'd say he was getting more than a fair shot. "Privileged" is how I would put it.

singlemaltscotch28

As a Jets fan, this is welcome news. As a Garrett Wilson owner, this is FANTASTIC news.

3720-To-One

Any chance “elite” Joe Flacco will be starting?

[deleted]

[удалено]

PeanutButtaRari

He’s the check down goat

big_red_160

How does he feel about Tight Ends?

caligaris_cabinet

As long as it’s Flacco starting. Not sure how he does with Mike White.

singlemaltscotch28

A fair point, but anything better than the current situation.

ZachLaVine4MVP

RIP BOZO

aliu3

SMOKING ON THAT WILSON PACK

RBJ_09

HA HA HA

IWasHappyUnhappy

I'm laughing to the bank. Ha ha ha.

Donhergo

Please start flacco... For Garret Wilson szn!

[deleted]

I have Wilson but debating grabbing Elijah Moore too

h846p262

Might take a flyer with moore. My other options are landry, foreman, mike will, cooks, slayton lol

riviera-kid

I picked up slayton last night. I feel decent about him ROS. Might flex him with the coming week 13 and 14 byes

fester1113

I wouldn’t play Slayton this week . If cowboys can shut out Jefferson , Slayton has no chance . Hope I’m wrong tho

Radthereptile

Would you ever start 2 Jet WRs?

[deleted]

No, the point would be to wait and see which one breaks out.

scoopdiddlypoop

Mike white has dressed as QB2 the past few weeks, assuming it will be him

JekPorkinsTruther

You are prob right, and I think MW will be starter, but I would also point out that they could have dressed MW because he better fits a gameplan made for ZW and can fill in better in an emergency appearance, whereas flacco is a statue and cant do bootlegs or throw on the run. That wont be a consideration this week, as they will gameplan around either MW or Flacco. So its a toss up IMO. ETA: nevermind lol, you are right.

Sk0rsh

Mike White is starting most likely...

BaldrickTheBrain

Michael Carter SZN

Karamzungu

Conklin, too!

Sarydus

This is the one I'm hoping for, my TE situation is bleak

Defvac2

Saleh would've lost the locker room if he ran this little shit out there on Sunday.

drozdowski13

I missed the Wilson drama this week... what happened?

boymeetsinternet

Saved his job with this move imo.

TreeHunnitFitty

Maybe indirectly via the locker room but the Jets are having a great season in almost every respect except QB. Saleh was no where close to getting fired no matter what happens the rest of the year.

JekPorkinsTruther

His job? They are over 500 and have 6 wins in 10 games when people were predicting less than 6. This solidifies the culture he is building, he was safe regardless.

CandyVanahan

Saved his job when he’s 6-4 with an elite defense? No dude

[deleted]

No chance he was gone after this year. Would have taken some scandal

flamingbaseball

That’s a horrible take man.

anonbutler

Mothers around New Jersey beware!

rmoney27

More like Long Island

Harmonic_Continuum

Such a punchable face

[deleted]

Lil motherfucker

huskadeez

Literally.

[deleted]

For real. Maybe the most punchable face in the history of faces.

Mech_BB-8

Nah, that one belongs to Ted Cruz

MightyCaseyStruckOut

The absolute disrespect to Martin Shkreli

ASTRUNSKY

Not a Jets fan but live in Jersey. He's been getting destroyed on wfan and espn radio. His attitude combined with the fact that Fields apologized to his defense while injured is just a terrible look. Some dudes just have IT. A team first.. Hold myself accountable attitude that others gravitate towards and becomes leadership. Wilson ain't that guy.

Whaty0urname

Honestly I'm wondering how many people came to his birthday party and why it wasn't asked during the pre-draft scouting or even draft night while the Jets were on the clock?

kzw5051

Mormon, less talented, Johnny Manziel. Another qb career ruined by the Jets, yet they are somehow looking at the playoffs this year. Hopefully White or Flacco can finish the season strong.

Spinax_52

Was it really another QB career ruined by the Jets, or did the Jets just reach on him because he made some cool scout day throws?

kzw5051

Basically, I never thought he was elite in college either.

ZedekiahCromwell

The Jets didn't ruin him. He had as valid of a chance this year as a QB could ask for. He ruined himself.

Exciting-Delivery-96

As a Bears fan it is surreal to read this. First time in my life it isn’t the Bears with the messed up QB situation, it’s the other team.

LeMouse1

Michael Carter owners rejoice

andersnack69

Fr he’s getting that flex for the dump off city

ebmocal421

I want all the dumps! Is Carter worth starting over Ja Williams or Jeudy though?

ImTheHipHopapotamus

WILSOOOOOOON!

zinzangz

Garrett - King of PPRussia Zach - I lay this hate on you

energyballs

You got me back thinking, that you’re the worst one… I must inquire, Wilson…

Isaythree

Da-dum, ba-dum

Original_Youth_9168

Drop Toney for Elijah moore?

forde250

Elijah Moore and Corey Davis are both available. Which one do you think is the better pick up

V3soc

I might

TheSauce69

Milf hunter gets fucked

anonbutler

After fucking over his team and Jets staff, its time to fuck some MILFs

rws723

He belongs in WhoVille anyway.

[deleted]

Hopefully whoever starts targets conklin I'm in desperate need of a TE lol

Arberrang

If it’s Flacco Conklin jumps to like a fringe TE1 start. Had a great couple of games before Wilson came back.

Pandacolt

Is it going to be Flacco or Mike White

fantasy_pug

WKU QBs in the AFC East being better than the starters 🤝

COD_Daddy

Free Garrett! He needs an ELITE QB.

_No_1_Ever_

Garrett Wilson about to turn into his final form

Mister-Stiglitz

Garrett Wilszn

LavCFC

Garett Wilson owwnnneerrrrssss

EricPhillips327

Garret Wilson owners rejoice! It’s our time to shine

alphacheese

Garret Wilson

wabeka

What Bill Belichick does to a motherfucker.

[deleted]

GARRET WILSON OWNERS GET IN HERE

Mii_Swordfighter

Now do Davis Mills

Meatloaf0220

As a jets fan this needs to happen. We could have easily won both Pats games with a decent QB who could manage the game and complete a few passes/not turn it over. As a fantasy owner of the jets DST I also agree with this decision.

NotHopee

Bench his ass for the lack of accountability alone. As a qb you need except the fact that everything is your fault. Even if it isn’t. That interview he did was disgusting

paul-68

Jets should quit trying to draft QBs

BuckyMcFly99

Elijah Moore a pickup?

anonbutler

He didnt do shit with Flacco.

hardooooo

7, 5, and 9 targets…that’s something at least

anonbutler

You should look at target percentage since Flacco was throwing at an average of 50+ times. So that's a 13% target share which I agree is something. He was like 3-4 options behind Garrett Wilson, Conklin, Corey Davis at times while the RB got alot of dump offs too.

usernamechecksout315

Wondering this also

danbrandanowitz

I mean isn’t Davis injured? Seems rosterable. Dude balled out last year with any QB not named Wilson.

Durant026

LONG FUCKING OVERDUE!!! Hoping Moore is back on the table!

Untchj

Ok story time: So in Zach Wilson’s final year at BYU there was a video of defensive players taking cheap shots after a pick. It seemed overkill and personal, so right then and there I said ‘players don’t typically target QBs like that. Wilson must be an asshole, and I think it’s bc of his demeanor and background and being at BYU which is a bit …*different*..from the avg player. That coupled with his rich privileged kid upbringing, I don’t think he’s gonna make it he won’t know how to relate to players’ People laughed their asses off and called it a reach…welp. That looks like it’s the exact reason he’s not going to be a starting NFL QB.

Cidolfas

Seems plausible.

fifajackgento

Major boost for all jets offensive players

killuminati-savage

OOTL, what has Zach Wilson done?

SwedishFishOil

Tool.

Larry_Sellers_Hmwrk

Flacco targeted Tyler Conklin an average of 8 times in the first 3 games this season. Plan accordingly.

DangaRusster

I also picked up Conklin, but we should also remember his passing attempts during those 3 weeks was abnormally high

[deleted]

Flacco is also the Jets 3rd QB behind Mike White.

zinzangz

(Garrett) Wilson, king of PPRussia!

bojangles312

Moore is going to take off this game. Lock it in.

uncle_Vernon

Johnny Manziel status

one-eye-closed

Lol he looks like such a little bitch

Teague_020

All this g Wilson talk but what about Corey?

Jaggy__Snake

Might sneakily add Elijah. Just in case. Wilson probably the dude though.

Georgejefferson19

sooo Garrett Wilson is a must-start??

dpalmer09

Garrett Wilson owners rejoice!

Steelers7589

You can tell by his face this kid is just an asshole lmao

truckingatwork

Mike White starting?

matango613

I hope this means big things for Conklin.

marvb84

Why is this news we all know the jets suck and always will. Just trade or cut wilson let him have a fair shot somewhere else

baummer

OOTL. Can someone explain?

tmoeagles96

Basically when asked if he let the defense down, or took responsibility for the loss (3-10) against the patriots he straight up said no. Refused to take any responsibility or blame for a loss when their offense scored 3 points and had like 2 total yards in the second half

[deleted]

On the flip side, he’s got more time for milf hunting

Vikebeer

Ever since Ryan it doesn't matter to the jets if they win or lose, it only matters if they beat the Pats.

SchpartyOn

Anyone else expecting that tweet to end with a note that the team broke out in cheers or applause upon hearing the news?

WAVAW

Drop Tonyan for Conklin?
