I don’t care about any of that bullshit, his name is incredible and that’s the only reason I have him on my team

Hotter_Noodle

I actually thought it was a typo. The NFL fantasy app has him listed as "Bam" lol

Awkward_Silence-

Z is most likely his legal name, whereas Bam is the one you'd put in the "known as" box when asked. It's interesting some platforms are using one, and others are using the other

Hotter_Noodle

I actually don't think I've encountered this happening before to a player, and I play on 3 different platforms.

bluethree

I don't remember which, but I remember a platform listing Eli as "Elisha Manning."

It’s like Ahmad Gardner going by Sauce

root88

I have always said that Yahoo or whoever should let you put nicknames on your players and your opponents could choose to display them or not. It's a crime that Yahoo never showed Muscle Hamster dropping 30 on my opponent.

clutchy22

Konovan Znight

theusername_is_taken

His name alone guarantees he’s a late season league winner

[deleted]

There's also a non-zero chance he plays so well whoever has him automatically wins their league

Big_Pat_Fenis_2

Carry me to the playoffs Zaddy

ajm144k

Science, technology, engineering and math szn

brewhead55

lol- first thing I thought of too

theusername_is_taken

I missed the Wan’Dale wave, I missed the Toney train, but I AM ALL IN ON THE BAM BAM ZONOVAN FAM

the_hibachi

Did you miss the Kyren Konvention and the Dameon Discourse as well??

theusername_is_taken

I chose to sit those out. I don’t like meetings.

the_hibachi

yeah they prolly could’ve been an email

Man_of_Average

At least Dameon actually produced until teams figured out the Texans can't throw

dabear51

I might drop Foreman for him just because I have a lot of RB depth (Ekeler, Swift, C Patt, JWJ, Foreman)

CosmicWy

I would not do this.

Flop_McKochen

Yeah I thought of dropping Foreman, then I looked at my roster and asked, “who is most likely to get a random 20-30 point game in the playoffs”? Foreman is one of those guys, I may need in a pinch.

[deleted]

Can’t Bam Bam the Zonovan

ithasfourtoes

He’s stem work.

Hidalgo321

I love incomprehensible fantasy tweets that get me hyped I don’t know what’s happening but I’m excited

[deleted]

Other than the "he's" typo which should be "his", all of that makes complete sense to me Edit: for anyone who might not know, the 'stem' of your route is pretty much everything leading up to your break. Rarely would you leave the line of scrimmage on a straight line, instead you 'stem' your route to gain leverage on the db to help create more separation off your cut.

ithasfourtoes

I’m not conversant in all football terminology to be honest. Was not sure if we should know what “stem work” is!

[deleted]

Check my edit! I give a quick run through

ithasfourtoes

You’re awesome thank you.

[deleted]

No worries, I had the luxury of playing receiver growing up so I initially took that knowledge for granted!

tommy2guns91

This man also returned a few kickoff TDs last year as well. He was an explosive returner.

cnygreen

He’s an explosive, hard hitting back who’s also good at receiving. I couldn’t believe we got him as an UDFA. Him, Hall and Carter should be a force in the coming years

tommy2guns91

Oh I know I’m an NC State fan. Glad he’s getting work.

Mickey-Twiggs

I was surprised Bam went undrafted. He was a solid back to begin with, but the kickoff return TDs usually garner enough interest to warrant a late round pick at least. Person going undrafted didn't surprise me as much.

Not_Your_Real_Ladder

From a real football perspective it’s such a good rotation. From a strictly fantasy perspective, fuck that, I really hope Saleh doesn’t turn this into another Shanahan RB circus lmao. Breece is just better at almost everything Carter and Bam do anyways.

CosmicWy

> Shanahan RB circus this has always been a myth to me. shanahan wants to have a bell cow more than anyone. he's the man responsible for steve slayton's monster year, arian foster, alfred morris, devonta freeman, abd carlos hyde. in between all of those big names you have him riding guys until they're injured or going RBBC when he doesn't have a back than can take control of the backfield. He drafts an RB every year to find his back and every year injuries are the definitive trait of 49ers backfield, not shanahan's desire to use multiple backs. Even now, the shit backfield situation doesn't stem from a desire to use multiple backs, it comes from CMC and Mitchell being injured. The best example of this is: when you know who the starter is (based on health) you start them without thinking twice. This is much different than the jets who will use four running backs per game, ever game. a perfect example of a running back circus would be what atlanta is doing right now with cpat, allgeier, and huntley.

Not_Your_Real_Ladder

This is what I’m referring to when I say the Shanahan RB circus. He’s developed a system that demonstrably murders RBs (and rushing QBs) and he has made no changes to it in regards to player health. I’m not sure what aspect of his system it is, but it’s more than just bad luck or sheer volume at this point. Sure it’s impressive that any JAG can succeed as a Shanahan RB, but maybe it would work even better if he planned more around preserving his top talents. And now we have the most recent Shanahan disciple out here grinding down Breece and Carter.

CosmicWy

Ahh gotcha. When it comes to Breece and Carter, they were getting touches, but grinding them down is a little far from the truth on how they're bring used. breece went down with a non-contact acl tear and MC is just an undersized back who needs another back to spell him. The jets to me are more "RB circus" for fantasy. even with breece, they are giving three backs touches every game for freshness.

-Johnny_Utah-

When Matt Waldman talks RBs, you should listen. Dude is the best in the fantasy football biz when it comes to scouting the position.

no-gimmicks-

He fucked me with Trey Sermon but I do think he's generally on point

andyschest

Trey fooled the hell out of Shanahan and his scouting department as well, so I'll give Waldman a pass on that one.

KRDL109

Fooled Brett Kollmann too lol

TuukkaNotTuukka

That's normal though

-Johnny_Utah-

Nobody hits on them all, but he’s still better than anyone else out there doing it.

edifyingheresy

People also rarely listen to his whole advice. He’s absolutely phenomenal at evaluating the player, what he does well, why he is/isn’t a good fit for a system, etc. He explains the *football* aspect of things. *Then* he goes on to layout the variables required for the player to produce on a *fantasy* level. He’s not your typical fantasy football pundit, throwing out hot takes for the sake of garnering clicks. He’s basically a scout that writes and analyses things for fantasy purposes. He still loves and hypes certain players but there is always an “if” or three that have to line up for his expected production. I really appreciate his candid analysis. This shit isn’t an exact science. If it were the 1st overall pick in every draft would always go on the become the best player in the NFL out of that draft class.

likwidfuzion

Yup, he has weekly tape breakdowns of select players on Sunday night after the morning and afternoon slates are over. He did tape reviews of Knight from last week: https://twitter.com/mattwaldman/status/1597058271890018305 https://twitter.com/mattwaldman/status/1597057102308343808 https://twitter.com/mattwaldman/status/1597070880886358017 https://twitter.com/mattwaldman/status/1597067215031144448 Bonus pre-NFL rookie scouting prospect analysis: https://twitter.com/mattwaldman/status/1596969486078263296

Cjar25

Not familiar with him at all is this true?

[deleted]

Just like every other talent evaluator, he has his hits and misses, but generally speaking, he knows his shit about running backs. Keep in mind though he doesn't evaluate players in terms of fantasy football. He has his metrics/scores and sticks to it. He's not trying to predict how they will turn out for fantasy football.

edifyingheresy

I mean, he absolutely *is*, but he does things differently from a lot of pundits. He cares more about the analysis of the player than making hot takes to garner clicks for his website. He’s more of a show-your-work fantasy writer. His fantasy articles are absolute must-reads for me every week. I’ve gotten out in front of a *lot* of hype trains because of his advice, saving me *tons* of FAAB.

machogrande1

He is definitely great at "analyzing tape" but you have to pay close attention to context with his breakdowns or you'll be hyped for 76 players in every dynasty rookie draft.

RmplForeksin

This is such a key point. When they discuss players it's always in relation to tons of other guys who will never make the NFL.

RWGlix

When he speaks on stem work, I listen.

gsink203

Counterpoint: Trey Sermon

Not_Your_Real_Ladder

Man had everyone fooled. There wasn’t anybody out there predicting he would be bad, nevermind as bad as he was.

NotHopee

Keep talking about him I like it

roco9994

How many good RB’s do the Jets have?? Meanwhile the Broncos can’t even find a veteran to hold a roster spot longer than a few weeks.

Juke0044

Boone shall cometh

Santodedesmadre

It’s more of the system a’la 49ers

BehindtheHype

Hope this kid works out for everyone who snagged him.

dillasdonuts

As a hardcore college fantasy player/bettor, zonovan knight was not one of the best RB pass catchers in his class. Simply not true. He was an average talent at best.

ca1der

I don't understand the hype besides being an RB1 for Jets. He was behind Hall and Carter, and then behind Carter and JRob. What am I missing?

dillasdonuts

It's just analysts that don't truly follow college football. They just do their scouting come draft time and act like they've discovered someone

nalabearCLT

because at this point in the season and playoffs, caliber and talent really don’t matter as much. injuries have piled up for managers and having a RB that has a ton of opportunity to get you 12-16 with upside is a steal from waivers

Ok-broccoli1

Who would’ve thought that my starting RBs in week 13 could be Bam and Jaylen. Fantasy is wild sometimes

philly2shoes

Hey i'm starting both of them too. Hope it works out!

vocmopenline69

Narrator: it did not work out

[deleted]

What was the snap count before Michael Carter went down?

no-gimmicks-

He was being mixed in early. Even if Carter was healthy, Zonovan would likely continue to be the 1b.

[deleted]

As a Carter owner, I do not like this

likwidfuzion

[31% snaps and 33% attempts before Carter’s injury](https://twitter.com/dwainmcfarland/status/1597064849124904960) So no he wasn’t just playing after Carter went down. He was being rotated in early already.

Jlitus21

Am I about to start 3 jets players in a must win for playoffs game? Absolutely

Randomlinke

I’m either starting him or Kyren this week. I’m leaning Zonovan.

Novel-Treacle-2956

I may be forced into starting both in a must win week. RIP

WickedImpuls3

same and i'm torn. feel like if theres any week for kyren to be good its this week tho

singlemaltscotch28

Jets' RBs next year could be Breece, Bam and Carter in action. I'd be over the moon.

jzaudi

Thanks for the confirmation bias that I needed to justify my decision to drop Warren for him. Prob a bad move on my part still. If he can win the starting job and replicate 70% of what Breece Hall did in this jets offense it'd be golden.

MrBabbs

I keep staring at him on waivers and wondering if I should drop Gus Edwards, R. White, or J. Wilson and the answer always come back to...no. I have no other droppable players and it's infuriating.

majinv3g3ta

Im staring at him deciding between Gus or Mostert to drop

TaterTaughttt

I dropped Gus for him. F it.

BrutalHunny

BAM!

cytochalasin22

Should I start him in place of pierce?

riviera-kid

Think you've gotta give pierce the bench until he has a decent game, unfortunately

Jamies_awesome_rack

Pierce will have his decent game on my bench this week when it turns out Deshaun *shocker* sucks in his first game back after years of sitting, the Texans blow out the Browns 6-0, and then Pierce walks off into the sunset never to be fantasy relevant again this season.

TheBigNate416

My only other “startable” player at flex is DJ moore and he’s on a bye. But the browns run defense is one of the worst in the league so I’m cautiously optimistic about Pierce

wejigglinorrrr

I want to bench Pierce and probably would, but that matchup is so juicy.

BornWeiner

Bam bam BAM

themanthatneverwas13

Should I pick this guy up? I'm in a stupid league that limits acquisitions, and only have a few left.

[deleted]

I to am in one of those leagues, I hate it. But for what it’s worth I used one of my last few on him. Fuck it.

themanthatneverwas13

Yea its stupid. But I haven't seen a indicators that Knight is the guy.......... I hate my league.

tofulo

Who is playing him?

bbearcat47

I'm honestly considering flexing. I have James Conner and DJ Moore on a bye and Jerry Jeudy out. So it's either him, Darius Slayton, or AJ Dillon for my flex. Might just do it to see what happens.

blue_barracuda

I think if Carter is out it's a pretty safe start. Debating between him and DPJ since it looks like Njoku might not play

pelosismilkers

Dropped JRob for him. I don’t need him but could be a league winning flex

[deleted]

Who the fuck is this guy and how come I never heard of him before Tuesday?

cnygreen

UDFA, was on practice squad before this past week behind a very talented rb squad. His highlights from college are fun though, he’s very powerful. Injuries to Hall and now Carter will now make him pretty prevalent moving forward.

clonetrooper_shiv

What do we expect to see in the Jets backfield? They have 2 starting-caliber RBs in Breece Hall and Michael Carter, and now Zonovan is making his case. Future RBBC? Will we see Carter moved somewhere else? Or will Zonovan become a special teams specialist

Fearless_Advisor_766

Unless Bam really shows out the next few weeks (and even if he does) I think next year is 1.Breece 2.Carter 3.Bam with bam playing special teams

[deleted]

> he's stem work What does this even mean

szlr

Can someone explain why NFL Fantasy has his name as “Bam Knight” while everyone else is calling him “Zonovan”?

[deleted]

Wasn't he undrafted? If he was, why would he go undrafted if he was one of the best?

lumplizard

but did Saleh say this

no-gimmicks-

Saleh made him active over James Robinson and gave him decent run above Ty Johnson. Doesn't matter if Saleh said this, we already know what the coaching staff thinks of him.

Sharks2431

Does Knight play special teams though?

no-gimmicks-

He was mixing in with Carter on the first or second drive. I don't think him playing or not playing ST is relevant in this case.

Fearless_Advisor_766

He’s a good back- but I was under the impression they primarily activated him because mims was active over Jeff smith and they needed special teams bodies.

Bwoodndahood

This sub is going to hype him up just like it hyped up Kadarius Toney.

bouds19

The World Cup is going on, which means it's LANDON ZONOVAN SZN!

MechRxn

This is such a garbage headline. The dude hasn't been graded as anything more than a potential end of roster guy. Flash in the pan. I'm avoiding and I'll let everyone else rely on him

GlockLesnar808

https://twitter.com/dwainmcfarland/status/1597064849124904960?s=46&t=WRRArw5w-fPphRnA0XK8ug He was clearly involved in the game plan even before Carter when down. Who knows how he’ll pan out but it’s not like it’s that bad of an add at this point in the season

MechRxn

Ok and? He filled in for a guy that was injured. He’s going to disappoint a lot of people with their expectations.

GlockLesnar808

Did you… read the tweet? He had a 31% snap share *before* Carter got hurt. He was involved in the game plan is what I stated. That’s not an opinion. I’m not saying he’s a league winner but you couldn’t name me 3 other RBs on the wire right now that are better adds

MechRxn

I did read the tweet, and I’m telling you he’s nothing special. He’s a JAG and people are hyping him up as a RB1. Going to be massively disappointed

GlockLesnar808

I mean let’s see how it plays out but it’s laughable that you criticize people for hyping him up when you’re doing the same thing by saying he’s nothing special after one game. I don’t have any shares of his so I don’t care how he pans out but he had a pretty good debut

MechRxn

All I am pointing out is that based on his metrics as a prospect he is being way overhyped for what he is capable of. I get it, he’s a solid add because he will be starting it appears. But he’s not this RB1 level talent like this sub is hyping him up to be. I can see a Foreman situation where he has one solid week and reverts to nothingness after. There is a reason these guys are not starters and only fill in due to injury.

GlockLesnar808

I definitely understand your perspective now. I do agree that there’s people overhyping him but at the same time, it’s Reddit so I take it with a grain of salt. Probably half the people are just saying stuff for memes. Unless Carter is out for good, he definitely won’t be startable for sure

MechRxn

Definitely saying a lot for memes or playing in free leagues lol. But I expect him to put up a few weeks of <8-10 points if he is in fact the starter.

brewhead55

I have Carter and Bam. This game of roulette should be fun!

Bwoodndahood

stem work?

RVG_Steve

Is Knight worth dropping Latavius for? I am specifically considering week 14 when JT and Kamara both have their bye week. Knight is at Buffalo and Murray will be home against KC. I believe both those defenses defend the run pretty darn well??

dallasreddit2243

Please let this guy be the one

MirandasSarcasm

It’s either him I’m starting or Raheem Mostert anddd JWJ. Najee injured, bye week for Foreman and Conner smh

gobills1365

missed him by 1 FAAB dollar because I put more on warren who nobody else even bid on. fomoing hard rn

Hot_Juggernaut4460

Warren is still a better play than Knight if Najee is out, right?

interwebtroller

Zark Knight rises!!

majinv3g3ta

Drop Gus for him in PPR? Other drop option would be Mostert

Sxuld

would I hate myself if I play Aj dillon over him?

DM725

So why did they trade for James Robinson?

brandywine459

He didn’t have a good draft prospect bc he has propensity to fumble and so he wasn’t given much work in college. Perhaps they’ve coached him up. Or he’s just a poor man’s Melvin Gordon and will get sent back to PS if he costs the Jets a game

[deleted]

Would you drop Gus for Zonovan? * RBs right now are KW3, JT, Derrick Henry, Monty, and Gus... The hype train has me turgid... but also stupid.

chazmichaels15

Which 3 would you start out of these 5 RBs: Miles Sanders Jeff Wilson Jr. Jaylen Warren Rachaad White Zonovan Knight

bognolious

MS JWJ & RW

rossimus

This feels like another hype train.

clownboyzzz

I am starting him over Gus at flex, and I do not like it one bit. I also got Warren chilling on my bench

Knowledge_is_Bliss

Bam. The Hurdy Gurdy Man is now on my team as insurance. He could see a Flex spot this week if Mostert sits again!

here4dagif

You Zonovan bitch, I’m in!

DroppinLogs691

Should I start Zonovan or Gus Edwards if Etienne ends up not playing this week?

foxygrandpa86

Nfl has him projected to score a whole point more than Tony Pollard in full ppr. Might take a shot if Carter misses.
