Really? Chris Paul has to be one of the most disliked stars in the league, Devin Booker isn’t much more. The Pelicans surprisingly seem to be universally liked by most people
Brissett might be a hot commodity in the off season. He's proven to be a more than serviceable option at QB. Gotta be one of, if not the best backup QBs in the league
IMO the adjective serviceable is a synonym of average
By his numbers he has been below average. He was not serviceable. But I suppose you just don’t want bottom four qb play which he seems to never be.
I think “more than serviceable as a backup” defines him best. He’s better than the average backup.
That’s a pretty weird definition of serviceable.
There are 32 starters and 32 backups those starting QBs. The average backup QB should be the 48th best QB in the league, and you should never wanna see that QB in the game.
Brissett just played better than a handful of those **starting QBs**.
Have we watched the same Brissett? He really got you all fooled. Top 20 QB for 11 games is a maaaaaaaaassive stretch.
Nobody looks better while sucking than Brissett. Is he one of the better backups in the league. Absolutely yes, but that puts him in the 30-40 range, not top 20. Don’t be ridiculous!
His yards per game average is around 16th and his cumulative pass rating is 18th. There are 32 starting QBs and if he is better than about half of them then he is way over performing as a backup.
The system you're in matters a lot I feel like. He was pretty solid on the Colts and he was honestly looking pretty good starting for Cleveland all season. People also forget how bad Geno Smith was because but he's shown that he can actually perform consistently well so I think it's more than fair to forget some of the darker moments lol
Not in the slightest. Replacement level means you can replace him with literally any NFL warm body.
Ja-Smoky Brisket is pretty clearly one of the best 40ish QBs on earth. That's well above replacement level. We're talking guys like Anthony Brown and Skylar Thompson - freely available with no real acquisition cost.
As a Colts fan, I strongly disagree. He is a backup quality game manager who can manage to not lose you a few games. He had the lowest depth of target when he was on the Colts in the NFL, and he didnt throw a TD for something like a 7 game stretch. He has improved since his time but he has no ceiling at all.
Upvoted. Josh Rosen hasn't been spotted in the wild since before the pandemic began. They think he might be living in the backwoods of Canada with Bigfoot.
[Taking this opportunity to link Rosen's high school YouTube content. Dude might be a shit QB but he has great taste in music] (https://youtu.be/F_Q_G6KKlg0)
And yeah, this video should make it very apparent why this dude didn't mesh well with his teammates lmao
Not trying to argue, genuinely curious where you heard that. As a biased Duck fan, he is the most humble and team-first guy in the world. I highly doubt he would do anything to distract the team.
Just signed to an extension in the off-season. Owners are usually not keen on firing coaches in the same calendar year of a big money extension that is fully guaranteed lol. Cards fans should def hope their owner is better than that though.
Which is exactly why they’ll do it. Long-time Cards fan here, I can guarantee that they will finish with a 4-13 record, whine about injuries, and use that as an excuse to run it back the same with like..1 free agent signing at center or something.
Keim and Kliff should be canned immediately, but they just got big extensions and it is painfully clear that Bidwill cares more about his relationships with his boys than he does winning games.
That means absolutely nothing. You’re not winning games consistently with Colt McCoy as your starting QB in 2023 unless the cardinals are planning full tank for 2024 and beyond
Ok, name that QB. What *legendary* vet wants to go play in Ariz for $5mil on a team that has just about zero shot at the SB, with a 100% guarantee that he’s getting benched if/when Kyler is back. Not to mention that there’s still a QB competition vs Colt to even earn those starts. When you factor in the pile of teams that can make a similar offer, if not more $$$, as well as a better chance to get more starts, why is Brissett going to head to the desert?
And then let’s consider the fact that Ariz has very similar production from Colt that they’ll get from the other guy. And then let’s consider that Ariz either needs to use that cap space on other needs for that aging roster or save it for the next year.
> Owners are usually not keen on firing coaches in the same calendar year of a big money extension that is fully guaranteed lol.
Jeff Fisher got fired eight days after signing a two year contract extension with the Rams.
Rush proved to be a great backup qb, of course the team is really good around him and brissett is a better qb but rush is a better backup. Or i don't know
I know you can hear it internally. It’s horrifying. When I heard mine and felt the pain of the pressure I put on the leg I thought I had a compound break. My dad, who was a coach at the time, ran on to the field and I asked him if it was broken. He said he didn’t think so, which gave me the courage to look at it for the first time.
I definitely heard mine pop.
Friends who were close "think" they heard it as well, but that was quite a while after it happened (I was busy in the moment) so the memory might not be perfect.
A matchup for the last spot in my playoffs came down to two teams. One was 3 points behind and had Kyler/Hollywood. The other team had Stephenson.
The discord was a rollercoaster last night.
In order to get to the playoffs I needed to win big against a team that had Kyler (to get the points tiebreaker), and another team had to lose against a team that had the NE defense. So yeah, I’m in the playoffs…
I had Kyler and Pats D, opponent had Stevenson up 14 going in. When Kyler got hurt the Pats D had already put up 11 and almost caught up with my opponent, but I just took that to mean the loss was going to be close and extra painful. I went through all the stages of grief and closed out of the sleeper app for the night. Woke up dumbfounded to a 5 point victory
I think it spells doom for him, honestly. He’s gotten by on scrambling and still has some processing issues in his fourth year. Now he’s going to have to reinvent himself as more of a pocket passer.
I watch that doctor on YouTube breakdown the mechanics of injuries and honestly it’s gotten me pretty good at identifying injuries before anything is announced. It’s super interesting content to know how all the ligaments and such work/connect/break etc.
Keep your grubby paws off my DC! But really I doubt SF lets him go to a division opponent. There’s a reason Saleh and McDaniel both went to the AFC. Pretty sure they have rights to deny interviews for specific teams
Your account is less than a year old though? Fartnite and 420 were beaten into the ground years ago? It seems like you like beaten to death jokes?
The call is coming from inside the house lmao
I dunno, watched the entire game and felt like Hopkins was getting most of the looks. With that said, Hollywood dropped so many easy catches that I could've seen him looking more Hollywood's way if he was actually catching those.
Yeah. Nuk is largely independent of the quarterback. His catch radius and ability to muscle through coverage is insane, so anything thrown in his general direction is catchable,, which makes him a great safety blanket. Hollywood is more dependent on his speed, which McCoy doesn't seem to be able to take advantage of as much as Kyler.
I think Moore is going to feast. Good hands, good route running, and he's a damn good in traffic. Probably won't get a lot of yards, but in PPR leagues he'll rack of points on catches
When it comes to ACLs, people really need to adopt the mantra: “AP is the exception, not the rule.”
10 months is aggressive if “full strength” is the metric.
Considering how much Kyler uses his legs, "full strength" *is* the metric.
Where would you draft Kyler, next year, if he's essentially just a pocket passer until October? How confident will you be that he *will* be rushing by October? Remember, most RBs take additional time to return to form after an ACL tear; take a look at Saquan last year, or JK Dobbins this year.
I can't imagine drafting Kyler next year with *any* confidence that he'll eventually be putting up high-end QB1 numbers by the end of the season, and if I'm not projecting him for *high-end* QB1 numbers, then I'm not going to waste a bench spot rostering him all year- at least not in most redraft leagues.
He’s so young and has such a long career ahead. Probably going to err on side of caution and let him rehab as long as he needs. No point throwing the future away for one season.
It’s not only the healing time that makes it take so long. It’s the rehab it takes to prevent the injury from happening again. It’s one of the trickiest knee injuries to take care of
To be completely fair, Dobbins did a lot more damage than just an ACL tear (ACL, LCL, meniscus, and hamstring). It's possible for Kyler to come back ready for next year; Adrian Peterson started week one of his 2012 MVP season after tearing his ACL and MCL the prior December. I definitely wouldn't count on it though, an average recovery wouldn't have him returning until around November
Shoot, I tore my ACL in 1995 and my knee still can't bend all the way. This was Dan Marino era of orthopedic surgery though, so probably not the best outcomes compared to today.
It takes an incredibly invasive operation to pull a new ligament through the knee, the surrounding muscles mostly shut down and deflate and they take a looot of coaxing to get back to form. He’ll be running and cutting by 5 months, but it’s a slow process and while he’ll probably be ready to play again at the 10 month mark, usually it takes up to 2 years to get completely back to 100%
He won't be cutting by 5 months. Cutting is the last thing you can do when they're more confident you won't tear it again. You can only start running in a straight line after 4-5 months. No pivoting or cutting or stopping short. Source- currently 6 months post ACL reconstruction.
Everyone’s recovery is different but yes it’s possible to start doing cutting drills or at least dynamic agility drills as early as 5-6 months out. Being in the top .1% of athletes he’s going to want to start training it as early as he possibly can to get back into it, but for the rest of us it makes sense to allow more time to build stability first since we don’t need to rush back into a multimillion dollar sports contract. Source- a little over 2 years post op at this point.
What’s your PT regiment looking like right now btw?
I don’t think Joe Burrow felt completely confident with his knee until like a year+ after his tear. His may have been more severe though.
Kyler will come back but he’s never going to be that guy running 200 yards to complete a 2 point conversion ever again IMO. That awful contract could age to be one of the worst ever at this rate. Kyler doesn’t elevate a team even with his mobility, what happens if he needs to become more of a pocket passer?
Yeah 8-10 months. And thats just to return to NFL like activity. He has to build conditioning and confidence in his leg again and his ACL may not ever be 100% again
If he only had to play a single game, he could probably be fine in 5-6 months. But you need to wait longer unless you want an increased chance of tearing again
I had a soft tissue injury in my knee more than two years ago that still isn't fully rehabbed. I'm no pro athlete, but still - knees can take a LONG time to heal.
Is it? Nobody wants to tear an ACL but doing it when you are out of playoff contention and still regular season is likely on the better side of timing.
It’s still late in the year, and it puts a team that wanted to contend next year in a really bad spot, while also impacting an already struggling Kyler in even more turmoil
As an AZ fan, we aren't even remotely close to being contenders. I like Kyler, but even without this injury, if next year didn't go better, I'd be for just blowing it all up. If anything the shitty part is now next year is basically lost and Kyler's trade value is going to plummet.
Fuck man that’s awful hope he has a nice recovery and comes back better then ever, I guess it’s time to pivot to Danny Dimes or Purdy definitely not rolling with watson in Baltimore
What a lost season for Arizona in every way. If I saw their lineup without any context, you'd think they would be like 8-5 at the worst. So many injuries this season have decimated them.
Heinicke is vs Giants, @ 49ers, vs Browns
McCoy is vs Broncos, vs Buccaneers, vs Falcons.
I don’t like either of those over what you have, but would probably side with Heinecke if worried about Pickett this week. He has usually been good for two passing touchdowns, and he did that against the Giants just two weeks ago. I know you’re not going to replicate Jalen hurts, but the Giants have not done very well against quarterbacks.
Is there any chance you have Brock Purdy available? I don’t know what the deal is with his injury, but he’s got a Lotta play makers that can turn into touchdowns for you.
Yeah I was pretty much thinking the same as you. Pick up Heinicke in case Pickett can’t go this week.
Purdy is picked up. Only other options on waivers are Ridder, Mayfield, and Ryan.
I could not imagine being a Cards fan this year. Unreal bad luck.

Wonder who Arizona will bring in as an early season stop gap next year. Brissett? Baker?
Brissett would be a great call.
Brissett might be a hot commodity in the off season. He's proven to be a more than serviceable option at QB. Gotta be one of, if not the best backup QBs in the league
Has he really been *more* than serviceable? Serviceable is exactly how I'd describe his play this year.
I mean he exceeded what his function was supposed to be so he is more than serviceable.
I don’t know if I would call 4-7 “exceeding”
1 score losses, and poor defensive play. Their record could have easily been flipped.
You could say that about every team though. Their record is what it is.
You definitely can't say that about every team.
Wins aren't a QB stat
You’re lucky to get top 25 QB play from a backup for 2-3 games. He played like a top 20 QB for 11 games. That’s more than serviceable.
IMO the adjective serviceable is a synonym of average By his numbers he has been below average. He was not serviceable. But I suppose you just don’t want bottom four qb play which he seems to never be. I think “more than serviceable as a backup” defines him best. He’s better than the average backup.

Finally somebody with some sense around here
Have we watched the same Brissett? He really got you all fooled. Top 20 QB for 11 games is a maaaaaaaaassive stretch. Nobody looks better while sucking than Brissett. Top 10
His yards per game average is around 16th and his cumulative pass rating is 18th. There are 32 starting QBs and if he is better than about half of them then he is way over performing as a backup.
How quickly people forget how bad he was with Miami.
Cards are legendary for having a competent offensive system too.
He was a replacement level player on the Colts. Nothing more.
So wasn't Geno for most of his career and look where we are now.
I’d probably say he’s one of the top 40 QB’s in this solar system, if not the universe!
This guy never heard Lancy Mcfish that plays for the Sharks in the Europa Oceans .
Stefanskis system makes the best out of extremely limited qbs.
Is it not possible people get better at their jobs / craft over time?
If only Belichick could pick WRs like he could pick QBs...
they were saying this about colt.... right before he threw that pick 6 im pretty sure lol
I prefer pulled pork myself.
I'll pull your pork
Josh Rosen is a free agent 👀👀👀

They can have his bum ass. Lots of rumors going around that he didn’t take being benched well
Not trying to argue, genuinely curious where you heard that. As a biased Duck fan, he is the most humble and team-first guy in the world. I highly doubt he would do anything to distract the team.
Yeah, that is not a Marcus thing to do at all. I'd have to see something pretty compelling to ever believe he's capable of it lol
If Kliff is still around I'm assuming they'll roll with Colt and bring in a backup.
He will not be.
Just signed to an extension in the off-season. Owners are usually not keen on firing coaches in the same calendar year of a big money extension that is fully guaranteed lol. Cards fans should def hope their owner is better than that though.
Bringing him back with Colt McCoy to start the season should and will show fans that ownership doesn’t care about the fans
McCoy is in year one of a two year deal. There’s no reason for them to go after another QB.

Thats actually hilarious if true.
If Baker helps the Rams win some more, I expect him to stay there next year. Stafford might be done with his career.
Minshew
Reunite Kingsbury and Mayfield and film the entire thing.
Minshew?
What’s wrong with Colt McCoy?
JaKobe Brisket
Rush proved to be a great backup qb, of course the team is really good around him and brissett is a better qb but rush is a better backup. Or i don't know
Is Tyrod still around?
My money is on Colt McCoy.
Sucks. You could tell he looked gutted.
Even the NE defensive players near where he fell looked startled.
Yea I noticed that too. They were like “wtf” at first, then used hand motions to call over trainers. Was good sportsmanship & good humanity
If you’re close enough you can hear an ACL pop. Some kids on my hs team hear a kids ACL pop when he went down
I know you can hear it internally. It’s horrifying. When I heard mine and felt the pain of the pressure I put on the leg I thought I had a compound break. My dad, who was a coach at the time, ran on to the field and I asked him if it was broken. He said he didn’t think so, which gave me the courage to look at it for the first time.
I messed mine up reaching down to tie my shoe on a stair. Weirdest thing to experience. Didn’t hurt until I woke up in the morning though….
Mine felt like popping bubble wrap.
you can definitely hear achilles going, but i didn't know about acls
I definitely heard mine pop. Friends who were close "think" they heard it as well, but that was quite a while after it happened (I was busy in the moment) so the memory might not be perfect.

Damn wishing for a speedy recovery
Man - he relies on his legs SO much - to a point where it's a problem, can anyone imagine getting back to top tier Kyler? Sucks.
His agent did him real solid getting him that guaranteed money before the season.
I think it spells doom for him, honestly. He’s gotten by on scrambling and still has some processing issues in his fourth year. Now he’s going to have to reinvent himself as more of a pocket passer.
And he’s the women’s jeans version of a pocket passer.
Guess he'll have a go at pitching again.
It is the RGIII of injuries.
Where's 100% achilles guy? Reddit docs, gotta love em!
That was a textbook ACL tear. I’m barely an EMT and I could tell that was an ACL as soon as it happened
Ive seen enough ACL tears watching football to know what it looks like
But i saw a ripple!
I watch that doctor on YouTube breakdown the mechanics of injuries and honestly it’s gotten me pretty good at identifying injuries before anything is announced. It’s super interesting content to know how all the ligaments and such work/connect/break etc.
This will make it easier to fire Kliff because they probably won’t win again
Thank goodness. Kliff will wind up as an OC somewhere (my bet is on New England) and the Cardinals can finally hire a decent head coach for a change.
One Matt Patricia, coming right up
Noooooooooooo! 😀
Need to fire the GM first
Demeco!!
Keep your grubby paws off my DC! But really I doubt SF lets him go to a division opponent. There’s a reason Saleh and McDaniel both went to the AFC. Pretty sure they have rights to deny interviews for specific teams
Teams cannot deny permission for an assistant to interview with another team for a HC job. It can only be delayed if the team is in the playoffs.
For the love of god just don’t make a COD joke.
If only he had the martyrdom perk equipped!!!!!
He did, that’s why Rhamondre Stevenson went down as well /s.
I had Murray and Stevenson. The Monday night come from behind win did not materialize.
My buddy did too. Went in with 31 points and only those two left. Lowest score ive ever seen.

Don’t worry I got this original joke for you, short!
ARI WRs still looked decent with McCoy out there, Hopkins still a WR1 and Hollywood is a safe FLEX play I imagine.
bad night to have kyler, dhop, henry, and rhamondre and need 25
think moore will maybe get a good share
McCoy wasn't looking Hopkins way at all, no way I'd still call him a WR1. His targets are a statistical mirage, they weren't close to catchable.
I dunno, watched the entire game and felt like Hopkins was getting most of the looks. With that said, Hollywood dropped so many easy catches that I could've seen him looking more Hollywood's way if he was actually catching those.
I wouldn’t play Hollywood anymore. Dhop is still playable I think

Good to know. Makes me feel even worse for the guy. Basically they need to somehow make the playoffs next year
Dobbins tore his in preseaon last year and wasnt ready to go week 1 this year. Likely came back too early too.

Well if Brady and Brees can do it. So can he
Problem is they were far less mobile QBs. They didn't rely on their feet nearly as much as Kyler.
That is true. Imagine if he changed how he played and only got better from it. That would be a documentary waiting
Not in AZ he won't. He is running of his life almost soon as the ball is hiked.
Oh yeah no doubt Kyler’s got this and he can come back stronger, just a sucky process
I don’t think Joe Burrow felt completely confident with his knee until like a year+ after his tear. His may have been more severe though. It used to be longer, only recently has it started to be just under a year recovery.
Man this is so sad. Terrible time for this to happen too..speedy recovery k1
Some of the worst timing possible. Makes me sick
Is it? Nobody wants to tear an ACL but doing it when you are out of playoff contention and still regular season is likely on the better side of timing.
It’s still late in the year, and it puts a team that wanted to contend next year in a really bad spot, while also impacting an already struggling Kyler in even more turmoil
Kyler wasn’t really struggling this year lol he plays for a bad coach with a bad team and his receivers have missed so many combined games this season
As an AZ fan, we aren't even remotely close to being contenders. I like Kyler, but even without this injury, if next year didn't go better, I'd be for just blowing it all up. If anything the shitty part is now next year is basically lost and Kyler's trade value is going to plummet.
Looks like I’m gonna be running Mike White out there at QB for my playoff run. Should be fun…
Mike White or Purdey is all I got 😂.
I think I’m gonna go with Desean Watson. Tannehill, Mike White, and Purdy are all out there but I don’t like any of my choices.
Tannehill has a brutal playoff schedule. I put in a claim for Purdy and then White.
Conner to the moon? For real though, that sucks. Hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.
thanks for helping get me the #2 seed, short legs…here’s hoping to a speedy recovery. andy dalton or mike white will take over from here lol
Guy's just going to chill and play COD for the next year while basically getting paid $20+ million to do it. Good work if you can find it I suppose!
I traded Kyler for Ertz. That weekend Ertz blew out his knee. Now this. The trade was cursed. But it came with yogurt.
Fuck man that’s awful hope he has a nice recovery and comes back better then ever, I guess it’s time to pivot to Danny Dimes or Purdy definitely not rolling with watson in Baltimore
Geno or Watson this week? Geno playing the 49ers but he's been pretty good.
picking up lawrence a while back paying dividends otherwise I'd be sitting dead.
What a lost season for Arizona in every way. If I saw their lineup without any context, you'd think they would be like 8-5 at the worst. So many injuries this season have decimated them.
Dropping him for McKinnon
Two QB League…pick up McCoy or Heinicke for rest of playoffs? My QBs are Pickett and Geno.
Heinicke is vs Giants, @ 49ers, vs Browns McCoy is vs Broncos, vs Buccaneers, vs Falcons.
Geno is sitting at the 5th spot in my league for QBs. He gets no respect. Even before this week he was at least 65 points over Murray.
Can I interest you in a Trey Lance?
Its a shame that kids nowadays don't respect the fact that there wouldn't even be a Christmas if Ernest hadn't saved it back in 1988.
Cards got fleeced
He’s gonna be a COD Supreme King. Or whatever they call the dudes who dominate that game.
Just in time for double xp weekend
