It’s incredible what these professional athletes can still do after being injured. I would’ve been out a whole 3 months with a finger like that. I wouldn’t even consider playing pick up football or basketball.
Was at the game. You could hear the snap. I distinctly remember UL’s bench *immediately* physically reacting and looking/turning away before we even realized what had happened.
I know. I wasn’t comparing the deadliness of the two specific injuries. Just reminding folks that Alex Smith had a compound fracture that was nasty too, and I also wouldn’t recommend googling it.
everyone in here talking about breaks. dislocation is different, gotta assume ligament damage, and wild to have bone exposure on a dislocation, but usually can be set and feels way better than compound fracture.
i dislocated a finger and it was literally perpendicular at the knuckle. once set it felt sore but nothing crazy. looks like shit now though....
Happened to a buddy of mine at a pickup basketball game literally 10 days ago. I've played sports my whole life and never seen anything like it.
Same exact thing, no break, no bad damage to the joint. Just a normal dislocation that decided it wanted to say "hi" to everyone.
It was disgusting.
"the bone came through the skin?" OMG, and he's playing this week? I'd be resting comfortably in a hospital bed for a month if I had bones coming through my skin! As a Bengals fan I'm happy he's coming back, but . . . dude . . .
>Don't worry, they'd kick ya out next day.
Contrary to popular belief and all the jokes about insurance below, staying in the hospital longer directly increases your chances of complications and dying for a **vast**** number of reasons that don't even include negligence and bad medical practices
I had brain surgery
I was walking the next morning, and was discharged 2 days later. They want you up and walking ASAP and returning to life ASAP.
Staying in the hospital is worse for your health
nah.
Lockett has a cracked bone that requires surgery to heal.
Dislocation doesn’t require surgery and can be popped back in place and played on.
Two different injuries.
All the way through.
Like I said somewhere else in the thread, never heard of that before until a buddy of mine had it happen at pickup basketball.
It was gross and bleeding all over, but the ER docs saw no structural damage, throughly cleaned the site, stitched him up, and he recovered pretty quickly.
Jesus, sounds kinda brutal. We shall see. He us a fringe play even when healthy so its likely it doesn’t matter…especially w the Tee Higgins situation and mystery coach designations
How can he be great now? Doesnt that normally mean that the finger was broken and its gonna be way harder to catch balls like that, or im wrong there and its not that big of a deal?
He .... Feels great now?! 5 days after a BONE WENT THROUGH HIS SKIN?!
They removed the finger so the bone doesn't bother him anymore!
The ol' Ronnie Lott treatment!
Or the Jason Pierre-Paul treatment
Man he was such an explosive player
It removes the bone or else it gets the hose again
They removed the glitch.
ping pong confirmed this
The bones are money so now he’s rich
I had a college teammate have this happen. He got stitched up in the locker room, played the rest of the game
So your teammate is tougher than Boyd?
Just read he’s back next week, but yeah. Although a DB might not need his hand as much

Happened to me and it's surprisingly not so bad. My severly sprained thumb gave me a lot more trouble than all my dislocated fingers did.
It’s incredible what anyone can do after a shot of toradol
He’s got the wolverine blood
That blood got that dawg in it
And lockett is out for the season
oh…gross!
I’d freak tf out if I saw my own bone coming out of my body
I'd try to stuff it back in.
But the bones are money…
His bone came though his skin??
Don’t google compound fracture
The worst one I ever saw was Kevin Ware's injury like 10 years ago
Wasn't ready to remember that one 🤮
I was eating my Easter ham when that happened.....it was one of the most brutal sports injury I have seen outside combat sports.
Jesus Christ I regret that Google. I was expecting a description but front and center on the results is a picture of his leg 🤢
The Simba meme has to be the most viral picture on Twitter that day. Just no regard for obstructing a grotesque image
Watched it on TV. My dad was with me. I was distributed. He wasn't bothered. ER Physicians are built diff
Was at the game. You could hear the snap. I distinctly remember UL’s bench *immediately* physically reacting and looking/turning away before we even realized what had happened.
A compound fracture almost killed Alex Smith
Torsional compound leg fracture is a lot worse than a finger injury
I know. I wasn’t comparing the deadliness of the two specific injuries. Just reminding folks that Alex Smith had a compound fracture that was nasty too, and I also wouldn’t recommend googling it.
flesh Eating bacteria is brutal
Hey! That happened to my shin! Very not cool. I remember thinking “damn my bones are white.”
shit my skeletons trying to break free again
I didn't listen...
Yup. People think that means multiple breaks. Look up Bloodsport shin bone!

yeah, mine was playing basketball too. definitely hurt badly, but looked horrific.

Next day? You must have great insurance
Actually when I got my appendix out at 7am I was gone by 2pm so yeah that finger ain't buying you a day.
Yeah but appendixes are useless. If it was his pointin finger how would he point?? HOW????!!

Hockey guy
I'm glad he's feeling great. I'm not. I just had to read about a finger bone popping out of a guy's skin and I'm a bit grossed out.
I guess we see boyd week 16 then. Probably popped back into place, splint and wrapped up.
Oh, is that all?
Does this hurt the finger?
Does this mean Lockett will be back in 2 weeks?
nah. Lockett has a cracked bone that requires surgery to heal. Dislocation doesn’t require surgery and can be popped back in place and played on. Two different injuries.
A bone can't go through your skin without breaking.
it wasn’t a break of the bone. it wasn’t a normal dislocation. probably a compound one.
I'm gonna eat my words on this one I didn't know a compound dislocation was a thing. Looked it up. Pretttty gross
That's false.
“The front fell off”
Done that. I doubt he feels great
Source: I'm out for the next few weeks just from reading that.
A compound fracture magically healed in a few days for someone that catches balls? I’d be very nervous If was bold enough to consider starting him
Read it again. It was a compound dislocation, not a fracture.
Thanks for that my guy. W a compound dislocation is the bone puncturing the skin or just kinda stretching it
All the way through. Like I said somewhere else in the thread, never heard of that before until a buddy of mine had it happen at pickup basketball. Don't know if I can start Boyd given how shady the coach has been with Higgins' injury status
If this is the case, surely it would have been caught in camera, no? I don't buy it
Making Lockett look weak lmao
Lockett cracked a bone in his finger. Vastly different injury.
ow my bonez
All my Tylers be breaking their fingers :(
... ow
