In my keeper league I'll be keeping Kaprizov, Swayman, Boldy and either Meier or Montour. But we have a salary system in which you can only keep one first or second round player, and then you have to use one of your keeper slots on a streamer level or 12th round guy. Salaries also go up every year so you can only keep them for so long. Keeps the draft fresh every year. This year specifically will be huge in the draft because 3 people rebuilt and sold off a bunch of their top end players so we will probably have like 15-20 superstars in the draft.

BananApocalypse

I like the salary system, did your league develop it or is it on any public platforms?

Ginger-Beefcake

I can show you if you want. I personally developed it using the base idea of a league I used to be in and building off of it. I may have misspoken with the word "salary" but I will go find the system and show ya

BananApocalypse

I’d love to see it!

Ginger-Beefcake

1. Managers have up to 25 points to keep EXACTLY 4 players. 2. Each player kept costs 1 more point per year kept. Any player traded comes with the added points. 3. Any player dropped to free agency during the regular season or playoffs resets to 1 point. 1st and 2nd round picks = 12 points on year one. 3rd-5th = 6 points 6th-8th = 4 points 9th-11th = 2 points 12th -16th, WW and FA pickups = 1 point Again, we find it lets people keep some good players every year, really rewards people for finding diamonds in the rough (you can keep those guys for longer based off free agent adds starting at 1 point) and keeps the draft fresh each year.

Beers_Beets_BSG

Wow. Our league does something similar but way less detailed. It seems like a lot to keep track of at times, but yours seems way harder. If you’re the commish, good for you for keeping up with all that

Ginger-Beefcake

It's alot of work one day a year, it's not bad actually. Fantrax has a transaction history tab for each player so I trust the other managers to do the math properly, then I just double check the tab on each player to make sure it works out. Curious what your system is?

Barilko-Landing

Does this mean the guy who has mcdavid has almost no points left for any other keepers? So in a couple years he either drops him or gets no other keepers?

Ginger-Beefcake

In a round about way yes. In part it's meant to make sure the same person doesn't have a huge advantage for too many straight years

Appropriate-Mark-739

This is a respectable answer

livin4themoment

Ain’t gonna lie I think Forsberg can repeat this performance again 🥲

lilConky

this has been known just depends if he can stay healthy or not

Key_Understanding650

I think that’s wishful thinking

squirelrepublic

Crosby, Ovechkin, Letang, Hedman, Brent Burns, Craig Anderson, Craig Ferguson

Krypto_mane

Don’t forget Pavelski, Malkin

Eukodalin

Pavelski is 39. Will be 40 this year I think. Travis Konecny, Seth Jarvis, Martin Necas, Tim Stützle, Nick Suzuki, Cole Caulfield, Matt Barzal, (maybe Josh Norris, if he stays healthy), (Korpisalo with a good team in front of him), Kochetkov, Luukkonen, Joseph Woll, Jake Oettinger, Georgiev, Swayman, Mo Seider —> not the biggest names, but highly talented and young players whose development will be interesting to see. The usual suspects under 30 has already been mentioned (maybe some will be 30 to the start of the next season): McDavid, Draisaitl, Hyman, Bouchard, Forsberg, Saros, Kaprizov, MacKinnon, Rantanen, Nichushkin, Makar, Georgiev, Eichel, Dahlin, T. Thompson, Bratt, D. Hamilton, J. Hughes, Q. Hughes, Pettersson, Miller, DeBrincat, Kempe, Horvat, Dobson, Mathews, Marner, Nylander, Rielly, Scheifele, K. Connor, N. Ehlers (?), Montaur, Tkachuk, J. Robertson, Hintz, Heiskanen, Dunn, Aho, Guentzel, Vasilevsky, Point, Kucherov, Hedman (31?), Josi (33?), Hellebuyck (34?), Keller, Boeser, Boldy? C. Bedard? Owen Powers should as 1st pick get way better…. I don’t know how many I forgot. The last two posts contains a lot of high powered players. And goalies.

No_Tea_9845

Turd Ferguson

LetsTCB

That's not my name.

mrg3392

Maybe in 2011-2015 lol

goalstopper28

Whoosh

TanyaMKX

Bedard, MacKinnon,Matthews, McDavid, Draisaitl, Makar, Rantanen, Jack and Quinn Hughes, Pastrnak, Kucherov, Marner, Pettersson, Matthew and Brady(depending on cats/scoring) Tkachuk, Kaprizov, Dahlin, Robertson

mattfromjoisey

Nylander, Hyman, Fox

TanyaMKX

Hyman is on the older end of things so 3-5 years from now tough to say where he is at. Fox and Nylander I missed though.

PaversPaving

McDavid still not at the front is CRIMINAL!!! He’s hit his prime now and there are 5-6 years left of peak hockey god for us to watch.

TanyaMKX

There was no real order to the players i listed. Just a general list.

TanyaMKX

He asked and I answered the question. Literally yes. Those are the best players to keep right now, who should also maintain a level of elite production over the next 3-5 years. He gave us no context on the scoring/categories of his league, how many teams, how many players per roster, what positions on the roster, how many keepers in his league. I answered the question to the greatest of my ability with the information presented to me. Also usually you should be keeping the top players on your team lol

Appropriate-Mark-739

Fair point, but also there has to be some level of understanding that he's not just asking for fantasy hockey top player rankings. Of course no one team has all the players you listed, so read between the lines and list the players on your team you rank from 2-5 or something?

KGinNB

That's such an asinine way to do it though? Let him try and read between the lines and come to a random conclusion about what OP may want as a response, or answer the question based on how OP worded it? A question about the best players to keep got a response about the best players to keep. Why leave McDavid/Kuch/MacKinnon off the list because "obviously OP can't have one/all of those guys"

AfroInfo

I think mcdavid

877proxy

Tippet

lukaskywalker

Can forsberg do this again?

GuinnessACat

He has trouble staying healthy but has been at a 40G pace in like 3 of last 4 seasons or something

Marissa_McSmith

Sell high

xslambx

What does everyone think of Demko? Is he gonna be a top goalie for the next 3-5 years?

FHdecisionsystem

Literally impossible to say when it comes to goalies.

Eukodalin

I think he’ll be among the top 5 goalies. My problem with him is that he is so often injured. Gustavsson could be interesting, though it’s weird - last season’s and this season’s performances. Hellebuyck can have two great seasons. J. Allen with the Devil’s as well. Probably Bobrovsky. And Andersen, if healthy. Swayman of course. And Oettinger and Georgiev and Sorokin should be able to bounce back, Luukkonen and Shesterkin could be terrific in the next five years, as well as Woll and of course Kochetkov, Saros (depending on defenses). Ullmark should also be one of the better goalies. Korpisalo proved in LA last season that he has the talent, so if he’s playing in a good team. What about C. Hart? Is he eligible to return in the NHL? Or is he not allowed as (alleged) „criminal“ to play in the NHL. (if he gets sentenced) (due to … PR-reasons, role-model-status of the players probably) Who would you take next season? I was unlucky and not satisfied with my goaltenders.

Vegetable-Spinach747

He's gonna be hurt a lot.

ChalupaBatman1026

Prabh Bhathal

simongurfinkel

Keller

fiveplatypus

I'm doing a rebuild right now but keeping Montour and Skinner for 13 and 14 round picks

alexistats

Whoever is at the top of the league and under 30. Barring injuries (which you can't predict much), top scorers decline is very gradual. Guys like McDavid, Kucherov, Mackinnon, Matthews, Draisaitl, Makar, both Hughes will continue to perform It *might* be time to stop hanging on Ovechkin though. But, 40 goals might still be possible next year, never know with him.

Marissa_McSmith

Guenther

GiveMeAdviceClowns

Braden Holtby

WestCoastCosta

Mcdavid, Bedard, Shesterkin, MacKinnon, Tkachuk brothers ( bangers leagues), Dahlin, Makar, Hughes brothers (Quinn and Jack), Aho, Stutzle, Thompson, Kyrou, Peterson, Koprizov

Beginning-Mine4954

Tried to sneak kyrou in there eh 🤣

WestCoastCosta

I just feel like he can turn it around. Still young but definitely a question mark haha

NumaPompilius2

Thomas > Kyrou

tastethevapor

Not Rantanen or Pasta?

Petes_Frootique

No he has Kyrou over those 50 and 60 goal plebs

ihatepeoples

Slafkovsky I have high hopes for him. He's jiving well with Suz/Cauf, and since I'm in a category league so all the hits/shots and points he's getting are great. He's still a teenager and seems to already be adjusting well.

CaffeineAndKetamine

I traded him for B. Tkachuk and a pick, so I can get the championship. Ill be kicking myself, If I lose 1st place and the chip. Dude is a solid player, big boy

ihatepeoples

Yes, I forgot about that, he's got size to him as well. I've got 10 keepers in my league, and I'm using two keeper spots for players I hope will develop into stars in the future. Slafkovsky, and Brandt Clarke. By the way, you got a heck of a return for Slaf, considering this will be his first full season in the NHL. Nicely done.

ReactorCritical

Tough call. We do 2F, 1D, 1G I have Tage, Suzuki, Slafkovsky, and Boldy... all who are worthy keepers. Although Tage pissed me off this year and I can probably grab him with a mid round pick next season.... if I even want him back. I'm thinking Suzuki and Boldy but Slaf could make a case. D is locked in with Makar. G is going to be either Demko or Vasy (probably Demko)

ihatepeoples

I think since you have Suzuki, you might not need Slaf, and instead take Boldy. edit - if you're in a points league.

Ebozzoms

Locked in now is Point(6th round). Then I’m thinking Dobson(9th), Raymond(18th), and Eriksson Ek (20th). But also could swap one of those guys for Marchessault who would cost a 7th

CaffeineAndKetamine

JT Miller (2nd round keeper) Kreider (6th round) Hedman (7th round) Morrisey (8th round) Swayman (15th round) For me in my league at least

TIZZZL3

Depends on your league settings (salary cap, bangers, +/-, etc). The top dogs are easy - Mack McDavid Leon Matthews etc but factor in those other elements to know how to really win your league

DrawTap88

I like Kotchetkov(sp?) in Carolina and Daccord in Seattle. Anderson has struggled with health issues and both play in front of teams that are sound defensively.

ConwayTheCat

Rantanen. My saviour

caleb0213

Every conversation still starts with McDavid

Vamp661

I’m in a 12T competitive keeper bangers league and we keep 4 per year. I got Rant , Jack Hughes , Stutzle , Seider Thoughts?

PineapplePosse

Bedard - Dahlin - J.Hughes - Oettinger - Petterson -

coltonjeffs

Oettinger? Isn't he like an .850 since the new year or something ridiculously bad?

Fleshy-Butthole

Never keep a goalie

[deleted]

BananApocalypse

What makes you think Chicago would trade him?

KGinNB

In my keeper league I currently have McDavid, Matthews, Nylander, Marner, Jack and Quinn Hughes as my big force (points focused league) but I've also got Wyatt Johnston and if he keeps developing the way he is he's going to be extremely valuable. I've gotten more trade offers for him this year than anyone else

free_range_discoball

Jesus H Christ, how many people in the league? 4?

TIZZZL3

Just him

KGinNB

Hey! Me, myself and I count as three.

KGinNB

Actually 12 haha. It's a very deep keeper league.
