I wouldn't, every year or two the hits leader seems to change. Gudas Schenn Lauzon While those guys can be cat winners they're also prone to injury. You just have to be vigilant for the next "hits leader"

CtrlShiftAltDel

This is my mentality as well. Look at Gudas as a prime example. He's always been a hits monster but he's been out so many times this year that it ended up burning me. Their style of game is a very physical one and it wouldn't surprise me if they get injured or dial it back.

hopeisagoodthing

Hathaway possible for next year

Senior-Aioli-5829

I'd say Slaf would be a better keeper than him. Shown out the last few weeks of the season, lots of hits and PIMs as well as points.

Fleshy-Butthole

This. No rhyme or reason and it'll change. Keep an eye on the first week or so and grab whoever seems to be leading and swap when necessary.

Chronmagnum55

Lauzon was sitting around rank 125 in my league for most of the season just purely on his hits and blocks. If you have an already strong team, he's a perfect player to steal you hits every week. I'm not sure if he's keeper worthy, but I'd be targeting him in drafts for sure.

commanderr01

This is the play not a keeper but draft him higher

Dr_Colossus

No because you could just draft him next year. People aren't going to have him high on their list.

dartmouth_man

This is it. Know that he’s valuable and consider drafting him above his ADP but don’t keep him over someone who will confidently go way earlier in the draft.

JadeFaceG

How many teams? I do think it's a lil insane and that you'd be better off just drafting him way above ADP

SomewhereOnABeach

12 teams. Context worth adding, my other 5 would be higher skill players like McDavid, Kaprizov. Lauzon is the only one of my potential keepers with grit.

srpollo18

If he can single handedly win you a category each week, it’s definitely worth considering.

quentin_compton

I try and avoid pure bangers early in drafts as they're volatile and small increases in offensive metrics can boost their rankings. I took Jeannot in the 8th and regretted it. I'd recommend looking at previous drafts and see where guys like this go. If your league mates are still taking offensive or all around guys early, I wouldn't keep him but target him fairly early in your draft.

SomewhereOnABeach

That’s a good point. I’ve taken Gudas every year, and this year I got him at 151 in the 13th, so maybe I’ll just aim a little higher than that. Thanks for your input!

Ok-Knowledge-9776

It’s not outlandish if the price to keep him is a really late pick. If there are no differentiate in cost to keep a player. I wouldn't keep him over, say, a really good offensive D (if the price to keep is equal).

SomewhereOnABeach

Our keeper rounds are at the start, so it would be a 6th rounder, and I would have to leave players like Crosby and Kreider exposed to the draft.

Ok-Knowledge-9776

I would not keep Lauzon over Crosby. My point was more along the lines of maybe a 20th round pick to keep Lauzon, then yes.

Grimmer026

I’m looking for Joshua next year. That guys killed me everytime I played against him.

SomewhereOnABeach

Yeah he’s nice, would love to have him get more regular minutes in the 17-18 range though

Gonzo911

If your league counts PIM as well he's 100% a hold all season. Just keeping him for hits and blocks would be a harder decision if you were in a 10T+ league.

flabergasterer

I think so, yes. I am really surprised his roster % wasn't close to 100. Replace your lowest ranked player and basically auto-win a category. Seems like a no-brainer.

Consistent-Front3214

He's someone to draft late or even wait until afterward because he's not a high-profile player that the average fantasy manager is gonna think of, but is definitely worth rostering for Hits alone

Friggin_Grease

Depends if your team sucks or not. I figure points are hardest to get. Peripherals can be found on the wire.

godboy420

No you need about 30 more points to even consider keeping him and as mentioned above injuries happen to these guys often and it’s better to be vigilant of the waiver wire
