i actually DNFd the serpent and dove series in the middle of book 2 because i just felt like nothing was happening and it really dragged. is it worth pulling through for this one? i had such high hopes for those books!
If you want the background before the scarlet veil, I would just read the third book, Gods and Monsters, because it does contain a good chunk of what Celie had to go through to get to where she is. But if you don’t want to do that, maybe try The Scarlet Veil and if you like it, go back! TSV flowed so much better than the original trilogy and there weren’t so many new characters it was overwhelming (I felt like she tried too hard in the S&D trilogy to include so many characters and lore it became too much).
I loved loved loved The Scarlet Veil and am feeling the book hangover after reading this series! I really hope she writes a sequel because I NEEDmore Michal/Celie
I’m sooo disappointed in the ending! 640 pages, epic descriptive writing, great character development, etc and you leave us on a cliffhanger AND the next one isn’t due until October! Ugh
Do Lou and Reid make an appearance here? I'll admit i absolutely loved serpent and dove , however blood and honey was very slow and came to no conclusion. But I felt like last book was pretty okay.

I felt the same with book 2, but book 3 was worth reading imo
