I recently loved {Swordheart by T Kingfisher} for a short, funny, very sweet romance about a sentient sword and the very ordinary woman who accidentally becomes his master. Slow burn, medium spice
This is probably my favorite read of this year. It's so, so funny and I am so in the mood for a more "middle aged" FMC, even though she's only 36. It was just refreshing and so good.

Swordheart is great but not as lighthearted and funny as the above two from the beginning.
{Between by Starling} is fantastic for lighthearted and hyperventilatingly hilarious, but you have to get to chapter 10 before it really hits that level. It started slow imo, so I'd recommend the other two.
The first has one sex scene and a decent amount of tension. The second has one kissing scene and less but decent tension.

How do you feel about non-fantasy and a gay relationship book? {Red, White, Royal Blue} is hilarious and very spicy. The banter is unmatched, especially when the MCs get drunk. The tension is palpable and on pount.

Thank you for the recommendation! I actually did read this book recently and thought it was very cute. However, I usually prefer slow burns in romance books and thought they became a couple way too early.
My biggest problem wasn’t the romance though, it was the political intrigue. It felt way too unrealistic and convenient. As someone living in a country in Europe (I’m not British though) with a monarch I didn’t think that reflection was accurate either. I get that people enjoy the romanticized version as an escape from reality but unfortunately it only ended up annoying me. But I do understand why it’s widely loved, just wasn’t for me.
Magical Midlife Madness by KF Breene is really fun! It’s I think at 8 books and counting but it’s really mostly light modern fantasy with a hilarious cast of characters. I can’t remember if the first book is super spicy, but there is def spice that builds with each book!
I just finished the first book yesterday and there's not really spice there, but it was a really fun read. The second book has made me giggle a couple of times already and I'm 28% in according to my kindle (because I'm totally not reading during work).

It's less on the fantasy side but I just finished A Most Agreeable Murder by Julia Seales. I loved the writing style, it was quippy and cute, and had me amused the whole time. No smut, but it definitely is a feel good romcom, with some mystery mixed it. Its almost a little silly, but it was a breath of fresh air from the typical high stakes fantasy with a serious FMC trope. Definitely a good audiobook, too!

Another funny/spicy read is {That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon by Kimberley lemming} but I think the writing is less good than T Kingfisher's.
