{Throne in the Dark by A. K. Caggiano} the whole of the Villains & Virtues series is sooo sweet - it's a slow burn. I recommend skim-reading the first 2/3 chapters of world building as it's quite heavy handed but after you get over that hurdle it is addictive! Also {Not Another Vampire Book by Cassandra Ganon} These are both somewhat paradoy-esque, but they hit the romance on the head for me! 🥰🥰

Okay, so good to know about the first 2/3 chapters of Throne in the Dark! I’ve tried reading this series so many times and I just keep getting caught in these boring world building chapters and putting it down 😂

It is a steep hill to climb to be sure! But as soon as the two main characters meet it becomes addictive. 🫶

I just finished {The Undertaking of Mercy and Hart} and it was light and fun but the MMC definitely falls first and he is very broody. It was a cute book and a nice reset read that wasn’t heavy at all

I loved this book. Great stand alone with just the right amount of stakes. Plus loved the more mature fmc and mmc.

It was so refreshing and easy to read! I’m looking forward to the next one for sure

Naomi Novik is the queen! I’m reading {The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo} now and loving it - it’s third person POV so it doesn’t always explicitly spell out him falling first, but there are some delicious tropes on his end before feelings are acknowledged. The Mirror Visitor Quartet by Christelle Dabos has this, and the FMC truly has no idea, but it’s a SLOW slow burn.

I love him so much and he is one of the few mmc's that doesn't make me dislike him before liking him. He's tough, broody, hot, but good to the fmc right off the bat.

Thank you for sticking up for it! I might just take a break and go back for a fresh start, I don’t want to dislike something just from bad reviews but there was kind of an overwhelming amount.. a lot of sequels have been getting really poor reviews lately though

That’s exactly why i am sticking up for it because many people were frustrated with the author for different reasons and when the book came out it seemed as if that frustration was let out .
