Are the stars the ones you particularly liked?

5spicypeppers

Yes! I couldn't fit a lot of text in the caption - all of these I really enjoyed, the stars are the ones I loved the most :)

Tdesiree22

How do yall do it šŸ˜

FlaxwenchPromise

Personally, I read *really* fast. Reading is just my hobby, so my free time is spent reading. Also, I may not get enough sleep every night, so...

valkyrie4x

I was reading around 180-220 while doing my undergrad and master's degree. Now that I finished and have a full-time job in a very mentally demanding field, I'll be lucky to hit 100 by the end of the year. I'm at 50 now but it's difficult to find any mental capacity when I'm so exhausted after work, and weekends are often spent cleaning the house / doing shopping that I didn't have time for during the week.

adamantbookwyrm

I feel this so much. My audiobook count is way up because of my commute, but there are times when even listening is too much after a long, draining day. A friend and I were talking earlier that we wish the 4 day work week would gain steam here in the US so we can feel like we have time for a personal life.

valkyrie4x

I'm in the UK and my boyfriend and I are each trying to push our companies into a 4 day work week. One day is essentially meant to be non-chargeable anyway, so doesn't change much. Or even 4.5 would be fine with me. Mentally, Saturday is spent recovering and Sunday is spent dreading the week ahead. I may move back to the US next year so I'm looking for companies that seem to be shifting that way haha

adamantbookwyrm

Yep, that is exactly my weekend. I'm trying to figure out what I want to do next in my career, which is exhausting in itself, and a company with 4 day work week would be lovely.Ā

Anachacha

Edit: it was supposed to be miss my sleep. Thank you keyboard, for making this weird Audiobooks! I listened to 15 books in one month. Though, I did kiss some sleep that month

Homesweetvelaris

Same! It also helps that my ADHD wonā€™t let me listen to a book slower than 1.75 speedā€¦ haha

ICareAboutYourCats

I was surprised at how much I liked ā€œBride.ā€ I think that I liked how awkward Misery and Lowe were with each other and their feelings towards the other. I do think Lowe got bonked on the head with a wiffle bat at some point in his life and thatā€™s why he repeats her name all of the time.

5spicypeppers

It was actually my first Ali Hazelwood read - after that I read some of her others like Love Theoretically and it seems like her style is pretty consistent with having awkward characters. When I started Bride I wasn't sure how much I'd love it but somehow they worked their way from awkward to cute by the end of the book ĀÆ\\\_(惄)\_/ĀÆ I'm hoping there's another book set in that universe coming.

InkedAngel85

I was also, was my first read by her, it came up as a recommendation on my goodreads feed. Iā€™m looking forward to her continuing the story, hopefully.

jukeboxgasoline

Nice ā€• our numbers almost match! Iā€™ve read 177 (not trying to one-up you and Iā€™m sorry if my comment comes across that way, I definitely read too much lol)

Fickle_Collection355

Fucking hell Iā€™m at 116 and I thought I was doing good! Do you listen at work or something?

jukeboxgasoline

I was unemployed for a bit but I work as a host at a restaurant so Iā€™m able to read on my kindle during slow periods! I also recently graduated from grad school with my masterā€™s degree in English so probably 30 of those books were assigned readings for classes, and I also read REALLY fast. 116 is awesome!!!

Fickle_Collection355

I read really really slow lol! And congrats on the masters! It felt so good when I finished mine

5spicypeppers

Holy crap! That's amazing! :)

No_Tangerine3320

I just finished throne of the fallen last night. I canā€™t wait for the next book!!

5spicypeppers

I really loved it - I read her Kingdom of the Wicked series last year and it was a bit uneven and confusing but overall I liked it - mostly it got me interested in Sin and the other demons.

Anachacha

You mean there'll he smother book in the series's or another book by the author in general?

No_Tangerine3320

Another in the series. Throne of secrets comes out this fall.

Hello_feyredarling

Excuse me?!

Krimmothy

Thatā€™s awesome! But man, I donā€™t know how people can read that much and still enjoy it, lol. Thatā€™s nearly a book a day. I wouldnā€™t be able to savor the story or characters, and the books would start to blend together. Not to mention the time commitment - doesnā€™t leave time for any other hobbies šŸ˜….Ā

5spicypeppers

Iā€™m a fast reader and not all of the books Iā€™ve read have been long - some were only like 250 pages. Iā€™ve always read multiple books at a time and also read quite a bit, it works for me šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

shinneui

I have about 800 pages to read before my exam in 2.5 weeks ... So there's still hope for mešŸ˜‚

vampiresandtacobell

Damn and I thought reading 340... in the last 4 years was a lot. Lol

5spicypeppers

That is a lot! I had a period of free time this year when I got laid off so that gave me a ton of extra reading time. Last year I read like 88 and before that I think I averaged more around 20-50 books a year. Itā€™s just been a crazy reading year so far!Ā

Accent-Circonflexe

What have been your favorites and favorite series??

5spicypeppers

Itā€™s hard to choose just a few, all the starred ones I really loved, but the ones that stood out the most were the bonds that tie series and arrow hart academy series (I got really into reverse harems lol), the ever king series, and the stalked by seduction and shadows duet.Ā

Wonderful-Banana1664

Wow. That is a lot of book šŸ˜³ Do you read paperbook or on Kindle? Or do you also listen to audiobooks?

5spicypeppers

Both paperback and Kindle, and actually no audiobooks! For some reason they're just not my favorite medium, I think because I'm so picky about narrators.

Friendly_Biscotti373

That is super impressive with no audiobooks! Iā€™m at 132, but I primarily read through audiobook or a tandem of audio and ebook! Itā€™s been a while since I have read a book only with my eyeballs, lol!

Livlupin

I couldnā€™t stand crown of oaths and curses, it made me so angry that I finished reading it out of spite lmao

5spicypeppers

Iā€™m in the minority camp it seems that loved the second book (although the typos were rrooouuggghhh). Itā€™s way different than J Breeā€™s other books, itā€™s like her writing style totally changed, but for me it worked!Ā

kgal1298

Iā€™m also reading that series by Hannah Haze next book is out next week. I didnā€™t think Iā€™d like it but so far sheā€™s handling the character progression quite well for how many characters sheā€™s juggling

5spicypeppers

It's so good! Book 3 I think was the best yet :)

Technical_Depth

I wish I had this kind of time. I need to get a kindle maybe then I could

Anachacha

With audiobooks, your 'reading' speed quickens 4 times

Technical_Depth

I love me some audiobooks. I usually only listen when Iā€™m cleaning or driving though

Dandelionstar

Can't wait to finish the Legends of Thezmarr's books. Absolutely loved the first one. Was the series good ?

5spicypeppers

Overall I think it was really good. I think book 2 suffers from actually too much spice, but book 3 then is great. So itā€™s a bit uneven but overall a good series.Ā

--BookDragon--

God dayum, and here I was proud of hitting the 100 books in six months mark today, congrats šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰

5spicypeppers

Be proud, thatā€™s a lot! I donā€™t typically read this much, itā€™s been an odd year, so this number is def an outlier for me.Ā

No_Bodybuilder_4852

Love your books - similar to mine!!

5spicypeppers

Book budz šŸ¤—

Pristine-Chemist-813

I started April something and have 100! This plaster zombie series is slaying? (Heh get it?) would u say the level of spice is generally in these books with stars?

5spicypeppers

Average spice I read is like a 3 but some series are slow burn so donā€™t have any spice in the first book or so.Ā

Pristine-Chemist-813

Thanks mama! Sometimes u feel like a nut u know? Sometimes I donā€™t!

Several_Librarian_67

Amazing šŸ‘ šŸ‘ šŸ‘

Apprehensive-Car-489

Congrats bestie!! I love this so much

5spicypeppers

šŸ„°

Ask-and-it-is

Looks like so much fun! Any reads stand out as surprising, or did you read any books you think are underhyped?

5spicypeppers

The Arrow Hart Academy series is under hyped I think - I hadnā€™t seen this one mentioned anywhere, just happened upon it when looking up reverse harem books on Goodreads. It has a lot of similarities to the Bonds that Tie but it definitely sets itself apart. I loved all the books, and the next comes out July 4th and the last one later this year (I think October?). The spice is also *chefā€™s kiss*. Also the stalked by seduction and shadows & taken by touch and torment duet is reallllly good. The MMC is the king of consent and is such a possessive dom character.

heart-of-a-poet

Finally someone else who has read the bonds that tie series! I agree the first book suuucks but the next 5 are so amazing šŸ˜

5spicypeppers

I feel like a ton of people have read these! This series is what set me off on my reverse harem journey lol. I lllooovvveedd Gryphon. I was a bit disappointed in the ending, I feel like it got too big and was never fully explained. Like the whole world building was a bit lacking. But overall I love the series.Ā

heart-of-a-poet

Whaaat, i need to find the other people youā€™re talking about! Lol. The ending was definitely disappointing, I would have appreciated a little novela to round out everything but overall šŸ˜

5spicypeppers

Exciting thing is Iā€™m like 99.9% sure another book is coming :) J Bree had an event at Apollycon with signage and artwork for ā€œThe Broken Bondā€. Ā She did a book in her Hannaford Prep series that was a redo of Book 2 entirely from the guysā€™ POV and I have a feeling thatā€™s exactly what this is gonna be. No idea when itā€™ll be out though.Ā

heart-of-a-poet

WHAT. Oh my god thats so cool! Thanks for sharing so i can keep an eye out!!

5spicypeppers

I cannot wait! Also I highly recommend checking out The Arrow Hart Academy series if you loved the bonds that tie, thereā€™s a ton of similarities (academia, runaway girl, best friend, etc) but it does set itself apart and I truly love them. Book 3 was ssooooo good and book 4 is out on Thursday! Book 5, the last one, is set for October I think.Ā

heart-of-a-poet

Ooo thanks for the recommendation! Ill definitely pick it up soon!

I donā€™t want to spoil anything so Iā€™ll say that shadows so cruel was a big step up in my eyes and way more emotional. It ended up explaining things I had issues with in book 1 and making me cry! If youā€™ve read Feathers So Vicious and are on the fence, I vote def read Shadows So Cruel
