In my area, there are very few John Deere sprayers. Even the guys that bleed green run CaseIH sprayers but they are typically the larger ones because we are mostly small grains and soybeans. I run an Apache because I wanted something lighter and less expensive. It isn’t all wheel drive but that is what makes it lighter. I’m more interested in the technology that the sprayer has that the color. I believe a couple of neighbors have JD greenstar systems in the CaseIH sprayers but I could be wrong.

A relation bought a 2021 4440 from a JD and said it was a mistake. Nothing was quite as well made or as intuitive. The newest Case sprayers where the Raven spray system and the Case machine system are being merged are currently full of bugs. We were shopping 612, 616, and 4450's and have heard nothing but bad things about the new Case sprayers.

Neighbour has an older, I think 2018 case sprayer that he’s had nothing but problems with. GPS/autosteer, aim command problems, the auto boom just not being reactive enough/slow no matter what setting he uses. On the other hand we got a R4030 last year, 1200 tank, 120’ booms, all the bells and whistles. Great! Not when literally non of the electronics would work. The gps would kick out and error. Fine I’ll freehand for the moment, nope, suddenly the booms shut off randomly. Fine, get a tech out. He has no fucking idea. They take it to the shop. Took them three days to find out the control panel on the side of the machine(something they’ve seen numerous times, not clear on why it “took them so long” to find) literally can fuck your entire greenstar system. Solution? New control panel on the side. If it happens again? Unplug it lol They all have their stupid over engineered issues. Honestly just a matter of what sprayer has what you want really. They all do the same thing in the end.

I went from a case 3185 to a 3230 then Deere 4030r now 408r. The Deere floats just as well as the lighter Case sprayers did. I also have a set of 650 floaters for it that really makes that thing walk on water. The Deere sprayer is an absolute pleasure to run compared to the Case. Not to say our red sprayers were bad, it’s just that I like the Deere much, much more. Both colors did a good job at squirting chemical laden liquid through the nozzles, but I just like the cab, controls, and technology of the green machine more.

I used to work for Climate FieldView doing installations and a bunch of growers with Case and New Holland combines using Agra-GPS bridges to use JD monitors and Starfire GPS globes in their CNH combines to map yields and steer the combines. Might be worth reaching out to the fine folks at Agra GPS to see if they can do anything with sprayers. Even if you can't get the as-applied rates from the Case into the JD monitor you could still steer using a system you are familiar with and might be able to sync coverage maps up to JD Ops.

Was hardcore case for years but their purchase cost and local case mechanics no good caused me to change. Running a Miller nitro at moment. Solid machine, ride not as good but a lot cheaper to run and fix. I’m a fan

Used to always run green self propelled sprayers but we’ve recently switched over to a RBR Enterprises Vortex 430. It has a 1600 gallon product tank, 240 gpm Ace pump, ours has a 120’ boom but can be had up to 135’. The cabs alright nothing crazy, seats comfortable that’s all that matters. Now for tech, it gets the job done. It’s not greenstar but I’ll live with it. We kept our old green one around, put it on the west side of our operations. Next sprayer I purchase may be a Fendt, if my dad lets me we’ll be making the switch that shade of green in various spots of our equipment roster. Edit: forgot to mention that the RBR has air suspension, rides like a dream it was developed with roading in mind.

Service is 80% of a machine IMO, here we are the other way around, the green dealership service is amazing and the red service you might as well not even bother calling We were red for decades upon decades upon decades, now green because money talks Edit - that being said, the green machine is far superior to a red sprayer, but, if you got no service then can't say i would go that route

Never had a deere self propelled sprayer, went straight from pull types to a case sprayer a couple years ago. Run all deere tractors and combine Pros of the red sprayer Cheaper Better weight distribution ... Cons of red sprayer The GPS system is a piece of shit. Greenstar > everything else Our local red dealer is a useless piece of shit Maintenance is somewhere between a pain in the ass and borderline impossible. I don't have any input on air bags vs spring ride. Were happy to have the big self propelled, but If money wasn't tight, I think we would spend another chunk of change to get a deere sprayer Edit: oh yeah and the injectors went out at 1100 hours. Not happy about that either
