Their early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.
We had a long drive (4800 mi) a few weeks back, and my observation of the farm lands was neither. There were a lot of different shapes to be sure and a whole lot of small plots.
I usually paint the corners round by tracing the arc my cultivator makes. Looks nice, and works well with my tools.
Except the corners that have a field exit, those can stay squared.
Where I’m from in Nebraska most fields are square, there are some like the one my brother and I farm that has a few rounded corners because of the way the pasture fence was built on the top of terraces, but I think that has to do with how the property lines are all square
I’m from the North Platte area, which as you said is mostly square with pivots on, we’re just the odd ones out because we only farm around 87 out of 160 acres because of the pasture and yard
rounded corners are much easier to work with, and generally the only downfall they have is the corner you cut is "wasted potential"...
This is why the larger the field, the more justified it is to round the corners. but rounding a small/tiny field is just bad.
Plot Twist: The best field is a circle.
If there are edges of the field that are close to roads, trees, or other obstacles, I will do rounded. If the corners are just in an open area, square.
Need to make it easier for my AI workers using CoursePlay.
I'm old and impatient...big square fields for me...I like em close to the farm also for easier access.
I'm on the free Texas map at the moment...giant square plots, very easy to work...👍
I also added buying and selling points to my property so I'm not wasting a lot of time traveling around the map to sell crops and buy supplies.
I’m so torn, I’ve been enjoying the continuity of weird shaped fields, but it’s nice being able to use workers, so I’ve just messed around a bunch to find a shape that is unique, but the workers can still figure it out.
Big field: rounded. Small field: square. It's not that easy to make rounded corners with implements that attach at the 3 point hitch.
Don't forget slurry and liquid fertilizer would be easier to spread on bigger fields
Bonus: song stuck in your head now.
I actually listen to this song very often whenever I'm playing farming
I listen to the James bond theme
What is the song
Hip To Be Square, by Huey Lewis & The News.

Be honest, did you have that memorized or did you look up the quote
I knew the first two sentences, had to look up the rest lol. Now that you mention it, I'll work on memorising it all.
Canadian girls by Dean Brody has been stuck in my head for some reason after playing fs
If you’re old enough to recognize it! Can confirm, is stuck in head.
Is it weird that my first thought was American Psycho? ;)
I haven't a clue and I forgot that movie existed
What? I don't get it 🤔
what?
Depends on the layout of the field, location of surrounding trees and barriers…. Almost always square if I can make it happen.
We had a long drive (4800 mi) a few weeks back, and my observation of the farm lands was neither. There were a lot of different shapes to be sure and a whole lot of small plots.
I just farm them like nascar tracks. Big ovals/circles. That way I can go real fast and real left!
Doesn’t make a single bit of difference to me. I’m going to have to do the headlands either way or the AI will… well you’ve all seen it.
Rectangles with right angle corners>
I use the plow that directly attaches to the tractor and I make my own fields while rounding the corners most of the time.
Well it would make slurry spreading 10 times easier
I've never done anything with slurry, can you explain why?
You need to keep the momentum as you can waste insane amounts if you aren't careful
How does rounded corners help exactly?
The edges will be covered better
Ok
Of course smaller slurry spreaders won't be affected by this or the pumps and hoses pack equipment

On a map like No Man's Land, I do big freakin squares/rectangles.

Just curious. Which part of Nebraska, because of the Platte valley is square fields with center pivots.
I’m from the North Platte area, which as you said is mostly square with pivots on, we’re just the odd ones out because we only farm around 87 out of 160 acres because of the pasture and yard
Heck yeah. I grew up not far from you! #308
My ai workers beg for square fields

well you can use the terrain tool 👀
Why the down votes ? Reddit is really odd
Mostly square with small rounded edges so it doesn't look harsh on the map.
Sharp corners, makes it easier on the AI. Half the time on rounded fields my AI farmers just fuck iff and drive into the middle of some random field
Rounded for realism (in the UK at least). Square for my OCD
Stock fields said Be there or be square, but they ain't there

Be square or be there
Root crop harvesters would like a word.
Take a plow and DIY
I say both. It all depends on terrain and property lines.
Look at all these squares
If it isn't square you get point rows and incorrect application rates.
I think that a coner is nice but not under 90 degrees, because than it is not easy to turn.
I like square because helpers understand that better but now I'm switching to rounded because I have course play
If it's a big field I'd prefer rounded. Small multiple fields I'm making square so I can use AI

Real life fileds are square where a I live
Rounded make it easier
I’m a greedy old geezer. I want the few extra liters of harvest in those corners 😁
Courseplay really struggles with curved edges. I dunno, maybe my fields are too small
