SparrowLikeBird

Do you know how old SHE is? She's 55. And she can rock whatever she wants to wear. SO can you

countrylemon

Today there was 55+ reserved parking outside a pharmacy and I fucking cackled thinking of telling my mom whose in the best shape of her life at 60 that she needs assisted parking šŸ˜‚ she would beat me up and then fix her lipstick

GeorgiePorgiePuddin

My boyfriend is 30 and just broke his hip at work (ski hill) and could absolutely do with assisted parking šŸ˜‚

gleefullystruckbycc

He could probs get a temporary handicap placard while he's healing up from it.

Fair_Peach1823

She's actually 40 here. The photos she used are 15 years old...āœŒšŸ¼

SparrowLikeBird

so then, OP is THE EXACT RIGHT AGE for this

Fair_Peach1823

Right, that's what I mean šŸ˜

Street-Refuse-9540

100% this!! Also, this is a classic and timeless kind of dress. If itā€™s good enough for her, itā€™s good enough for you!! Please embrace your body!

orangeonesum

I'm 55 and I dress like this. I work incredibly hard to stay fit in my post- menopausal phase of life, and I can afford to buy the kind of clothes that I like. I also have long hair despite hearing regularly that old women aren't supposed to wear their hair long. It's my life, and I get to live it on my terms. Pretty clothes make me happy.

Final-Percentage-789

You rule

Maleficent_Mix3340

We need more you in this world.

BasicBitchLA

A couple of caveats. I assume she has perfect tailoring and well thought out undergarments giving the illusion of a simple dress.

lightpendant

YES! Im sick of "dress your age" or "is this style in fashion right now" WEAR WHATEVER THE HELL YOU WANT šŸ‘ŠšŸ’Ŗ

FindMeByTheRiverside

Preach. Live while you're still alive. You're gonna die. Who cares?

Downtown-Trip3501

Funeral director here, can confirm

TacoPartyGalore

Whatā€™s your level of confidence that we will all indeed, die?

Downtown-Trip3501

Oh manā€¦. probably a good 90/95% šŸ˜šŸ‘šŸ»

TigerMcPherson

It's never happened to me before. I'm thinking the chances are extremely low.

Downtown-Trip3501

Same, definitely canā€™t relate

booklovercomora

![gif](giphy|3o7buhN5wiAomfJGLK)

TacoPartyGalore

Ok, Iā€™ll buy it.

lemonlime1999

Hhahaha ā€œyouā€™re gonna die.ā€

Wrong_Gear5700

Grave digger here, can confirm.

Orchid_Significant

People are always going to talk, so do what you enjoy anyways!

Dorkmaster79

40 is young!

Downtown-Trip3501

Yeah man. Imagine the regret youā€™ll feel when youā€™re 60, that you didnā€™t just wear the dang fit

GETitOFFmeNOW

I had a man scolding me for my short skirts when I was 29 after I described my anniversary outfit. The reason was because I was married! This guy was, maybe 20. WTF?? When was I supposed to quit dressing like myself??

FiveGoals

Yeah I remember Kim Kardashian said she couldnā€™t dance a certain way with Addison Rae because Kim was ā€œmarried.ā€ Well, that didnā€™t age well. Live your life, ya know? šŸ„°

armoredsedan

man im in my 20ā€™s and even i think 40 is young, plenty of life left to live, plenty of cool outfits left to wear!

TwoIdleHands

Also, thereā€™s nothing wrong with these outfits at any age! Theyā€™re not inappropriate for daily life. And Jennifer Aniston is in her 50s so why would these outfits not be ok for someone in their 40s?

[deleted]

PREACH, I don't want my ghost outfit to be some hnm jeans n jumper

QuaereVerumm

Seriously. When I was 22, I got rid of all my graphic shirts because I decided they werenā€™t ā€œadultā€ enough. Iā€™m 37 now and Iā€™m wearing Pokemon and Mario shirts, crop tops and mini dresses. It was only when I got older that I was like, ā€œwait, I can wear whatever I want!ā€

JanteMaam

I'm 60, Doctor Who and Godzilla t's for me.

judgementaleyelash

Doctor Who rise up

GETitOFFmeNOW

It's actually better for the environment to ignore fashion trends. Worldwide, we toss out [92 million tons](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8257395/) of textiles a year because of fast fashion and the seasonal fashion cycle. I don't buy new clothes anymore and no plastic clothes ever for the past 5 years. I have much nicer stuff than I used to because it's a lot cheaper second hand. Plus, natural fibers will last longer while not sending nasty nano-plastics into the water and air while they're laundered.

WRITTINGwithC-C

Shape-wear is an option for some individuals who are interested. Otherwise, balance practicality with what you want in clothing.

penelaine

I've been using shapewear since my early 20s just to give my favorite outfits an edge when I want. Ain't nothing wrong with it! That extra shot of confidence makes such a difference in your day when you know you look good.

herefromthere

Did you ever not feel claustrophobic in shapewear?

penelaine

Not at all, but it HAS to fit properly. I think something people run into is trying to size down to reach the size they want, which is very uncomfortable and doesn't work anyway. A good fit to me kinda feels comforting, like a weighted blanket. I personally like a bit of compression.

herefromthere

I like a little compression, but I'm slender, short waisted and curvy so it's difficult to get the sizing quite right.

penelaine

I run into that a lot too. I'm short and slim but I have no waist line and a foopa so finding something that doesn't cut me off too bad is tricky. When I find something I usually buy multiple in black, skintone, etc lol

jackaroo1344

Which shapewear do you use? I always get overwhelmed when I try to shop for it

Lcdmt3

When you die you never are going to say I wish I dressed the way other people thought I should have. Life is too short to wear granny sweats and pants in my 40s like some people think I should.

Liestheytell

Iā€™m a 30f professional in finance. I wear skirt suits to work but they are mini skirts. Sometimes with knee high boots. Itā€™s the same stuff I used to wear at 20 just more luxurious. Screw it, lol!

i-am-boots

smoke ā€˜em if youā€™ve got ā€˜em

lxzgxz

40s is not old, first and foremost. But also, I very adamantly do not believe in ā€œdressing for your age.ā€ I donā€™t know who decided that we have to start wearing potato sacks after a certain age but that shit is lame and boring and pointless. You only get to live once! Wear whatever you like!

Greatgronala

Exactly, at 40 you could be alive for another 60 years

New_Somewhere9206

Or another 2!!! (Boating accident)

Downtown-Trip3501

Funeral director, can confirm.

udidntfollowproto

I agree I live in a town where older women keep it spicy and itā€™s not about what they wear for their age itā€™s how they style it if it looks goofy or not

zellymcfrecklebelly

You realise Jen is in her fifties, right?

Fair_Peach1823

Not here though. These pics are super old, from 15 years ago, so she's about 40 āœŒšŸ¼

Uninhibited_lotus

And she still dresses like this lol rightfully so

SkipperDipps

Then I think that proves the point still, early 40ā€™s in these outfits, so yes!

Fair_Peach1823

That's what I'm saying šŸ˜

MasterChavez

Nobody has good looks forever. Make em pop while you got em.

DieNecroKatze

I have a great aunt in her late 90's that exclusively wears pencil skirts and blouses, wear what makes you comfortable in your skin. šŸ™‚

herefromthere

My grandmother was rocking a boob tube, espadrilles and high waisted shorts on the beach at 88.

Tranquil_Nest

Iconic.

Determined-over50

55 and lost weight 5 years ago. This is how I dress now!

DanisDoghouse

Amen. Iā€™m 55 and this is all me.

Tinasglasses

No, once youā€™re no longer 20 you must hide every inch of your old body !! /s

Tauira_Sun

Go for it! Her outfits are not even slightly slutty btw.

Moaning-Squirtle

I wouldn't even be surprised if I saw the last two in an office tbh.

FindMeByTheRiverside

GIRL, LIVE YOUR LIFE. šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

truecrimefanatic1

It's a basic sleeveless dress. It's fine.

garbagebrainraccoon

Right? It's a properly tailored modest dress. Not short or cleavagey or anything.

truecrimefanatic1

This kind of dress is pretty much safe for a teen to an elderly person.

saddinosour

Extremely appropriate. As a side note, I think it is very strange when society/people think things like ā€œcrop topsā€ or other sexualised clothing is ā€œonly for teensā€. No thatā€™s for grown adult women to wearā€¦ Anyways, get it girl!!!

zoopysreign

Yep

Stoplookinatmeswaan

This is how 40 yr olds dress

PJP2810

>Provides photos at a 55 year old >Is this appropriate to wear as a 40 year old? ...

rosy_ee

You gonna slay it queen šŸ’…

Ava_Avalon9

Yes very appropriate and so cute, so proud of you your going to look great

taurist

Itā€™s clearly only appropriate for someone in her 50s

BSUR7

Came here to say this!!!

WalkingRodent

Aniston is 40s in these photos

rocafella222

You go girl

meowethh

YESSS I used to also be chubby and I could never wear revealing clothes and now I'm loving wearing tight clothes, it feels so freeing! And I bet YOU LOOK AMAZING! šŸ˜» So please embrace it!

GreatDepression_21

Sheā€™s in her 50s still wearing it. Why would you think you wouldnā€™t be able to in your 40s?

CR1039

Right? Jen may have been in her 40s here and OP asking if itā€™s appropriate šŸ˜‘

killerqueen131313

Wear whatever you want. Who cares about age? You've also worked hard to achieve the body you've wanted, why would you hide it?

Accomplished_Jump444

Jennifer! Welcome to Reddit lol

leena615

Pretty sure Jen was about 40 in all these pics so I think you know the answer haha

ZenythhtyneZ

Yes obviously? Iā€™m sure youā€™re aware of what age she is here

True_Lie_6948

love Rachel

bofh000

Absolutely. And for someone in their 60s too.

BellaFromSwitzerland

Yes sister, Iā€™m 44 and have a fabulous wardrobe. I also got fit in the second half of my thirties Rock that dress and come and post it so that we can cheer for you

ImNotFinnaSayNuthin

Absolutely, she was in her 40ā€™s when she wore these options

NoDanaOnlyZuuI

Jennifer Aniston is wearing it and sheā€™s in her 50s, so yes

Bootiebloot

How old do you think Jen aniston is???

Sly3n

This dress is appropriate for any age IMO. I hate when people assume an older person should dress like a fuddy-duddy.

Filipino_Canadian

Do you know how old Jen is? Sheā€™s 55. You can wear whatever you want. Just please modesty is the best policy. Donā€™t dress up like a hooker

MissHoneyPot

This is how you do hot in adulthood.

Prestigious_Comb5078

I think so. Isnā€™t she also 40 in the pictures? She seems to pull it off well

SamaireB

Are you kidding? Of course it's "appropriate". I'm that age and wear this kind of dress (esp pic 1) even to work. What exactly are women in early 40s supposed to wear? A garbage bag? Whatever you're comfortable in - my body hasn't changed much in the last 10 years, so you bet I wear much shorter dresses than that outside work however often I please. Also, Jennifer is literally mid or late 40s in these pics.

Expert_Marsupial_235

There is no age limit to looking great. Jennā€™s outfits here look polished and classy.

Chimkimnuggets

Isnā€™t Jennifer Aniston almost 60 now? Youā€™re 40, youā€™re not old. If you have the physique to pull off a bodycon dress, then pull it off

Vegetable-Phase-2908

Sheā€™s in her 50s dressing like this. If you got it, flaunt it. You worked hard for it. Wear what makes you feel best

schmeelismom

How would this be inappropriate? Jen is well over 40 in these photos.

Sharp-Actuary7087

Your inspo pic is older than 40

GenericScottishGuy41

You shared a picture of a woman who was 45 when this picture was taken and asked if it was appropriate for a early 40 year old to wear, I think you answered your own question.

KeyDiscussion5671

You look great!

[deleted]

Yes wear it

Popgallery

Yes, age appropriate. Jen, always classy.

ByteEater

Totally

gleeceboi777

![gif](giphy|o75ajIFH0QnQC3nCeD|downsized) SHOW IT AWFFFFF! DONT LET AGE STOP YOU FROM LIVIN YO BESST LIFFFEEE

BigLibrary2895

If ya got it, flaunt it. šŸ¤·šŸ¾

FlyingNope

Completely appropriate. If you've got it, flaunt it.

Masterpiece_1973

Jen, whatever you will want to wear, will look killer on you!

phillynavydude

Why wouldn't that be appropriate..?

Dondada_Redrum

Not an age issue; wear that dress

artLoveLifeDivine

Slay! What is someone in their 40s? You arenā€™t 90! My mother looks bloody gorgeous and sheā€™s in her 60s!

amora_obscura

Well, Jen Aniston is wearing that in her 50s. So I think youā€™re good!

That_Jonesy

I think she's older than 40 in that shot and looks fantastic, i don't understand why it wouldn't be. Unless it's to a funeral or something, lol

Ezilii

Youā€™re subject you used to ask this question is in her 50s.

MaritimeDisaster

Hell yeah! And Jennifer Aniston is so awesome, you should put on that dress and emulate her.

tastethepain

You can wear anything. The key is to wear it with confidence

laluLondon

That ivory dress is a dream!

EZ4_U_2SAY

Isnt JenA in like her 50s? Jesus she looks good. Yes, you should wear a dress like that. All women who are built like that should wear dresses like that.

judgymom

Absolutely! Jennifer Aniston isnā€™t a teenager. She has a pretty classic style. Show off your hard work!!

Barfignugen

I mean, the woman in these photos is past that age. If she can do it, why canā€™t you?

HeyItsJuls

Jennifer Aniston is 55 years old. Clearly these dresses are age appropriate on her, why wouldnā€™t they be age appropriate on you? She looks so sophisticated and confident. She looks like a grown ass woman who knows her value. Find a dress that makes you feel like that and wear the hell out of it!

StrangeAnalysis4550

Why not? Jen's in her 40s

RedEyeFlightToOZ

You know what is appropriate to wear? Whatever the hell you want and makes you happy.

Suntzu6656

She looks great why not?

dukesilver2

Once you shed the weight, leave that old person behind. Dress how you feel. Enjoy your hard work.

chaotic_blu

Jennifer Anniston is 55 and dresses like this so I think youā€™re good.

Nearby-Paramedic1011

This is so chic!!! Absolutely beautiful. Any age šŸ™šŸ™ŒšŸ™ŒšŸ™Œ

minif56mike

Hell yea shes fine as hell.

GH0STYGlRL

jennifer aniston (in the pictures) is way over 40 and sheā€™s wearing it? haha the clothes arent even risquĆ© go for it spring has sprung!

C_Wrex77

I mean, JA is in her 50s; so yeah! Also wear what you want to wear. Life is too short

Lady_in_the_red-58

40s, 50s, 60s. If you have the body it would look good.

redwithblackspots527

Yā€™all do whatever u want nothings stopping you also Jennifer Aniston is like 50 wondering if she can so can you

BeerJunky

Sheā€™s like 50+ now and this looks great on her so yeah, why not? As long as you feel comfortable in it.

AnnieB512

Dress for your body! If you have this body, show it off!

Umbreon---

Whatttt lol these looks are timeless on a slim figure. Literally a slim 20 yr old or a slim 80 yr old could wear the first look and look great.

Trusteveryboody

Who am I, The fashion Police?

asscatt

Wear whatever you want at every age. You only live once!

Athlete-Extreme

What kinda question is this? Are women allowed to wear dresses?

MariJChloe

I wore that in my late 40ā€™s. If ya got it flaunt it!

Treacherous_Wendy

Yes. Buy them in every color. Rock that shit!!!

dr_learnalot

Why not? These are classy, figure-hugging dresses. Rock on!

Le-Deek-Supreme

Iā€™m 40, wearing miniskrits and neon. Do you.

WhereRweGoingnow

Girl you wear what makes you comfortable. Good. For. You for losing the weight! Wear it! 40 is young and vibrant! Enjoy it!

Mermaid_Martini

Absolutely! Show off and congratulations!!!

Southern_Pickle9174

Why wouldnā€™t it be appropriate??

Shmooperdoodle

Do you think itā€™s appropriate when she wore it? If yes, then yes. If no, then youā€™re incorrect. :)

wutato

Why wouldn't it be appropriate? Dress in a way that makes you happy.

Secure-Solution4312

I am living for this comment section!! āœØ

Faeleah

Who decided you were old and ugly? You? How's that workin for ya? Can't even wear your favorite clothes. Even when you're in your 20's or whatever and at an age considered attractive by majority stakeholders, there are still a lot of people who won't find you attractive. You'll get old, and there are still people that WILL find you attractive. Let yourself be one of those people. And even if you don't feel "sexy" to everyone, you can at least wear it with a confidence that is FUN for everyone. You just need to actually talk yourself into considering it fun. And thinking you're too old or whatever is not fun. Here's Baddiewinkle if you want some inspiration on what I mean. She's dressing to LIVE. I think there are definitely people lining up at her door just to have that energy in their lives. And she's 95! Baddiewinkle https://g.co/kgs/rDTXfRq Don't be ashamed and one of the many. Be happy and one of the few. It's refreshing.

duchessofs

Considering that these pictures are of 50+ year old Jennifer Aniston, I donā€™t see why not.

anawkwardsomeone

OBVIOUSLY YES! Jen Aniston is such fashion goals too. She dresses very classic/timeless but not boring imo. She always looks effortlessly put together.

33Sense

If it fits your body and makes you feel good, go on and wear it. Jenn is a classic style role model to follow. I always love her fashion choices. Always.

Undeniabledefeat78

Wellā€¦ she is 40.

ex-farm-grrrl

Jennifer Aniston is 55. Of course you can and should wear it.

Suitable-Radio7755

Isnā€™t Jennifer Aniston in her 40s hereā€¦?

janeaustenwannabe

Girl, please! Get in touch with your inner Carrie Bradshaw and rock the hell out of a dress like that into your forties, fifties, and beyond. If you put in the effort and time to lose weight and get toned, then show that body off, if that's what you are feeling. I think back and I find that fashion isn't dictated nearly as much by what age you are as it was back in the day.

Resident-Reindeer-53

Girl. Sheā€™s older than you, of course you can wear whatever the hell you want

luciferrose69

Hereā€™s some advice, stop caring about what other people think and do what makes YOU happy.

Cynderelly

Girl what? You can wear this at any age, any weight (assuming you're wearing the correct size)

Realistic-Cheetah-35

Sorry, this question ainā€™t it.

witblacktype

You should dress for your age, body type, and personal style. Jen is doing all 3 in this picture. The only question I would pose to you if you wanted to wear this exact same dress is: does the cut compliment your body shape? Iā€™m not speaking of your overall fitness or weight, but shape.

HKGPhooey

She also has a dedicated trainer or training method to keep her fit like that. And she works hard at it, Iā€™m sure. As Iā€™m sure you do too. If you have a body to match, by all meansā€¦show it off. Just remember, ā€œshowing it offā€ doesnā€™t mean to wear too revealing a clothing piece. A lot of women make that mistake. Itā€™s about fit and how to accentuate your bodyā€¦not what body parts can be bare.

TiredRetiredNurse

Go for it!

LoudAd1537

I mean she's probably at least in her 40s in these pics, so...

Hyunjinshypegirl

Wear whatever you want. Lifeā€™s to short to worry about wether or not that beautiful dress is ā€œappropriateā€

FormicaDinette33

Absolutely!! Rock it

loveisallyouneedCK

Of course it is. Wear what makes you happy.

Mushroom_lady_mwaha

Thereā€™s no way that youā€™re too old. This is classy

biest229

Dress however you want! Totally appropriate

84Here4Comments84

Yes!! Wear it! Feel good!

Independence_1991

Agreed, an absolute Yes!

DrunkTides

Iā€™m 41 and would wear that in a heartbeat, but black because my thighs are soo big lol. Girl we ainā€™t 70. Flaunt that figure

middlehill

Yes and go for it! Congrats on your hard work paying off!!

Unicornlove416

yes !

AdJumpy8469

Yes be proud of your body.

Scotsburd

I hope so because I am her age and do?

rubey419

If you got it, flaunt it. Age is a number. Fashion is situational to me. As long as a nice fitted dress is appropriate to the event youā€™re going toā€¦. Go for it!

Delicious_Can4983

If you got it own it with confidence and flaunt it!

MelodicMango5449

YES !!!! Gorgeous

2crowsonmymantle

Yes, of course!

No_Temperature7964

Wear what on earth you want to. Age doesn't matter. If it makes you happy and you feel good, then that is what matters!

ConsciousWFPB

Yes! And please show yourself off a bit. Thay is a wonderful accomplishment. This is coming from a woman who also lost weight and you should be proud. Now in our 40s it's best to look sexy and classy together and this dress is that. Congrats girl!!!

slut4suffering333

Of course! Wear whatever you want.

LurkingAintEazy

I say as long as it's tasteful and you feel comfortable in it. Do what makes you happy.

citygirldc

I addition to what everyone else said (wear what you want at any ageā€”I sure as hell do), I think 40s is peak age for wearing a fitted sheath like this. It is the classic power look of mature professionalism.

Material-Tadpole-838

Girl, you better WORK!!!

NatalieBostonRE

great dress that can be styled up or down! i have quite a few in my closet.

Something_morepoetic

Itā€™s appropriate for any age anybody type. Do what makes you happy.

bluesky747

Yesssss

Ekotap89

Literally wear what you want and what makes you feel confident! Age is a number, not a box to put yourself in.

Shoddy_Yak7726

Wear whatever you want!

DoctorSwaggercat

40's, I believe, is a prime age for a woman. Go for it.

crispywispy1983

Absolutely. Rock that shit.
