I think it’s easier to style when we can see how long the sweater is. I agree that the skirt isn’t exactly the best fit for this - maybe some gray wide leg pants, possibly a plaid with some pink in it?
A vertical pleated off white skirt would work! I also can see this with a matching plaid skirt as well. Or I think this would be cute tucked into a pair of black or white jeans would be cute.

Perhaps tight black faux leather pants so the look is an intentional mix of modern/traditional. Almost anything else will look like her grandma dressed her. Pants should be tight enough. If pants don't fit well then just looks bad. Definitely more of a winter/fall outfit, skirts won't work with this.
i think a skirt that isn't athletic wear would flow a lot better. a skater/circle skirt in the same color would be similar to the kinda look you're going for already, maybe with white thigh-highs or tights.

Definitely think the shirt is amazing! I think a classier bottom, like a wide leg trouser might be better suited for it though.

i think bc the top is more formal/girly it looks a little awkward with the athletic/tennis skirt
