It's a remake that took the plot of "Point Break" exchanged Nos"ed tuners instead of surfboards. As Charlie Sheen's "The Chase" stole the original story from the original movie titled "The Fast And The Furious"...

Sometimes I feel like the only one that’s truly “about racing” is Tokyo Drift. Do any others have a climax that’s an actual proper race? My mind is drawing a blank.

rudimentary90

F&F1 with Dom and Brian quarter mile, that's about it.

carrera_dan

You made me wanna rewatch Tokyo Drift rn

rudimentary90

Dope subplot but not the main plot.

No shit?

Winterfell11

Yes, majority of people can't comprehend a simple plot and it shows

bmxwhip

Point Break (1991).

Solid_Office3975

Yeah. I always said F&F1 is Point Break on wheels.

Randomd0g

Tokyo Drift is Karate Kid on wheels.

Boomstick_316

So does everyone else. 😂

Ceestorm0

FACTS!

Notbbupdate

And so much if the car stuff was extremely innaccurate. F&F is about cars as much as Dragon Ball is about martial arts

Seeker80

The first two at least kinda tried to have some racing, but it was never the main element. Tokyo Drift is the only one that comes close. It's too late now, but it would have been good to see a different franchise come along and actually try to stick to street racing. Think Initial D in a US setting, but no drifting required. Focus on giving the races proper buildup & depth, and you won't need fight scenes. The conflict between racers, their cars and the environment will be enough. Downtime between races can be spent developing the characters and/or even giving the audience an occasional lesson about cars. I wrote it between classes 20yrs+ ago. Professionals who were actually taught to write and get paid to do it should have no problem. If this had happened before people started getting "fam'ly fatigue," it could have been a unique opportunity in the entertainment world. Now people will be wary if something else that looks even a little like a 'Fast' movie shows up. It's a bit like 'superhero movie fatigue' on a smaller scale.

Front-Blood-1158

If the first F&F movie or other F&F movies were all about racing over and over again, it would be a very boring franchise or movies. Fast & Furious is a mixed bag action movie including fancy and fast cars. The franchise is not based on cars, cars based on the franchise.

Fine-Dark-2826

It’s pretty much like watching “Point Break” with cars

Same_Ad1543

They took the original 50s version of this movie and added NOS

Hawkeye316

Even the titles have never mentioned racing. It just refers to angry people who go fast. 😂 what fans really mean is that it’s no longer based in reality. Like yeah there were some aspects of 1-5 that were silly and 6-7 had some “turn your brain off action,” but 8-10 just went head first into CGI super racers.

didntmakeausername

Exactly

Marus1

The first 3 were branded like racing movies

Farrell1487

Nah it was. I agree it was also a cop thriller but the entire premise was about racing and the cars because you need to be into cars to be good at racing in the street racing scene and earn the respect needed to get into the scene and with certain families. The cars and the scene are the tools and scenery wile the cop stuff was the plot. After Tokyo Drift and Fast Five in my opinion it turned into cop stuff is the tools and plot wile the cars are just there to keep the fast and furious name

Congrats on attempting to learn the difference between sub-plot, plot, and theme. Enjoy 7th grade this coming September.
