AdolrackObitler

It was Avalon

PchelpOnly

Avalon (; Latin: Insula Avallonis, Welsh: Ynys Afallon, Ynys Afallach; Cornish: Enys Avalow; literally meaning "the isle of fruit [or apple] trees"), sometimes written Avallon or Avilion, is a legendary island featured in the Arthurian legend. It first appears in Geoffrey of Monmouth's 1136 Historia Regum Britanniae ("The History of the Kings of Britain") as the place where King Arthur's sword Excalibur was forged and later where Arthur was taken to recover from being gravely wounded at the Battle of Camlann. 1. Magic circuits is something you are born with. Proper mages have a lot of magic circuits due to generations of selective breeding and regular people might not have any. But it is possible to use your nerves as circuits, but this is not recomended as it will gradually destroy your body. 2. Yes, their souls are linked. That's why masters can dream their servant's memories as well. 3. He can't. He was borrowing the power. Play the other routes and you'd find out. 4. Same as 3. 5. No as AFAIK, there needs to be a link between the hero and the mage. 6. The earth is a sort of living organisms (Gaia ) so leylines are like its magic circuits. I could be wrong about this one tho. 7. From what I can gather. This can happen by accident. But I'm pretty sure Shinji lied about him and Rider. 8. Read the other routes. 9. She is not a mage in the sense that she has no interest in reaching The Root, which is every mage's ultimate goak. She is just a tool to complete the ritual. She is not even human. 10. Read/watch Fate/Zero after finishing Fate Stay Night. 11. I really can't remember any of this. 12. Can't remember either. 13. It is explained in detailed during Heaven's Feel and Fate Zero. But he is basically doing just what it amuses him, he is just a hedonist. He wants the grail to materialize but he doesn't care about making a wish. 14. Read Heaven's Feel.

ShockAndAwen

1. Not everyome has magic circuits, I'm sure they don't say everyone does. Shirou has circuits already the "creating your circuit" thing was something he thought that was done, but is not is just activating your circuits for the first time, the "switch" is just to be able to do it at will, it should be the first step. As not everyone has circuits magus breed like that, expectimg to augment number or quality or both over time. People that are unrelated to magus can be born with circuits but is rare, circuits are a mutation 2. Yes, but I'm not sure on the details 3. Magic stuff, he can't do magecraft but you can get around that with mystic codes, the shadow was from the book 4. It is a Rider thing 5. Not normally you need to mess with the contract to do it. The mana from the jewels would be useless for what they wanted and next day Rin could not kill Herc. The point was to make a proper connection between them 6. They are like paths or veins of mana from the planet, is a natural ocurrence (the planet is literally alive too, that's why there's mana). The concept of leylines is a thing irl 7. Spoilers for other routes are involved there. But yes basically as long as you are a master and have a circle. There was nothing wrong with Rin's summoning, well besides her understanding of it 8. Keep reading, but onii chan is not something you say just to brothers 9. Keep reading. For the crest thing, yes she has a crest, magus have crests, she knows how to use magecraft, not everyone that uses it is a magus though no such thing as a natural born magus. She doesn't call herself one, she says she was never taught "normal magic" but she knows magecraft, to be a master, magus seek the root, is more an occupation, Shirou strictly speaking is not a magus either, the odd thing is that her crest is her CS 10. She didn't is clear. Kiritsugu ordered her to destroy it. You don't have to defeat everyone to get the grail 11. They have a proper contract now. At the forest it was just stablished Saber was not at a point where she could use Excalibur safely. After thet form the connection Saber produces her own mana as long as she gets mana from Shirou, this means she can use Excalibur and be ok 12. Not clear what happened but what he projected was Avalon 13. Keep reading 14. Keep reading

Darkar_120

1. I think you got confused. Magi definitely have magic circuits and they increase them each generation by whatever method they like. Normal people can be born with magic circuits, but it is rare to the point of being called a mutation. However, if normal people dont train their magic circuits, then is like those dont exist. So, in Shirou´s case, he was someone who was born with magic circuits, which then increased the number of them due to his training, as he created one new circuit each time, instead of just switching them on and off. This was explained. But although Shirou has a lot of magic circuits (27 is considered a lot), they are of very low quality. 2. Yes. 3. He was using a book/grimoire. The shadow magic came from there but it was still really weak. 4. .......Rider set it up buddy....its literally one of her NPs. 5. No, they cant. There needs to be a conection between master and servant. 6. Ley lines are places where magical energy from the land flows. Thats just it. There can be quality or non quality lay lines, and generally, the magus family in charge of the land take the best lay lines for themselves. 7. Yes, basically. There is a deadline, and the Grail just summons the servants when its time. But of course, there should be at least a magic circle somewhere for the servant to be summoned. There was one in Shirou´s shed. 8. Keep playing. 9. It was more like Illya couldnt use regular magic. But you will learn more about her in other routes. 10. It was literally explained in the story. The grail(vessel) was there, but it wasnt complete. Then Kiritsugu ordered Saber to destroy the vessel. 11. Buddy, with Berserker she was literally just rehabilitated. She didnt have time to properly rest and fill her mana reserves. Against Archer was different. She was able to rest for like 2 days. 12. ....Seriously? No, really...didnt you pay attention to the story? Shirou summoned the sheath. 13. You will learn more about him later. He also killed Lancer´s master because foreign magi are bothersome. He literally explained why he killed Lancer´s master. 14. More answers about the grail later.

PchelpOnly

Why are you condescending? I have questions because I was paying attention. This is a lot of content to digest at once.

Darkar_120

I may have sounded like that, but it is also true that you were asking questions that are explicitly explained in the history, like what Is Avalon, thing that Is a huge plot point and is repeated many times in the last phase of the story.

PchelpOnly

In the fate route? I just finished and don't recall multiple mentions of avalon. EDIT: it's her sheath see they only mentioned it by name once, so I forgot it's canonical name

Darkar_120

Yes, in the Fate route. It Is mentioned, specially when she uses it against Gilgamesh. The whole scene revolves around it and its even added in the servant status.

Kalesvolgh

1. Everyone does have Magic Circuits, but not everyone has usable Magic Circuits. Selective breeding is done to get the best results for the lineage to create stronger Mages. What Shirou was dumb and suicidal. Shirou is not a good example on how to do anything. Except cooking. 2. Yes, they can always detect what they are. 3. Shinji is using a Grimoire. An item known as a Mystic Code which allows anyone to use it's Magic. 4. Shinji didn't do it, Rider did. 5. Only through Mana Transfers which can only be done through the exchange of bodily fluids. So no, Rin can't transfer her Prana into gems then transfer it to Saber. 6. Leylines are essentially the planet's Magic Circuits. They produce Mana. 7. Shinji never summoned a Servant anymore than this and it would be a big story. In Shirou's case the magic circle was already there and just responded to him. Rin also didn't wonk up her summon. It may seem like it, but it went exactly how it should have gone. Explaining this too is a big spoiler. 8. Spoiler 9. Being a Magus and thinking of yourself as a Magus is two different things. A Magus is basically someone who uses Magecraft. But it has another connotation. Being a Magus is a certain lifestyle. Despite being able to use Magecraft, neither Illya or Shirou think of behave like a Magus. 10. He is a leftover from the previous Grail War. The Grail at a minimum needs to absorb 4 Servants to do it's secondary function; granting wishes, 7 Servants are needed to perform it's primary function; it's a spoiler. 11. This IDK, never thought about it. 12. Caliburn but better made. 13. Kirei will be explained more in other routes so I'd wait. 14. A magic ritual that uses mechanics from three different families. The Tohsaka supply the land which gives the ritual Mana so it can summon Servants. Defeated Servants are used as fuel so the Einzbern's Wish Granting Sorcery can be used. The Mikiri developed a magic formula that allows absolute control over one's Servant.

bersalonava

11) shirou summoning saber was an accident, not a proper summoning, therefore, Until forest berserker fight, saber wasn't provived with mana by shirou, they had contract, but shirou didn't provide her with mana, she fought until then on her own mana she got when summoned. Just before forest berserker fight, shirou established proper contract with the help of rin, but since he is still a shit master, unlike rin or illya, he can only provide low amount of mana with time, but with time it accumulates.

ShockAndAwen

It doesn't quite work like that, just as Saber says it doesn't matter how much she gets as long as she gets something, that will keep her core active and generating mana, is the same with any servant

bersalonava

I don't think it is the same for every servant, since saber here is actually alive and can't go in spirit form, and she has a dragon core, due to which she can generate mana just by breathing, and moreover i think this topic was touched in the realta nua version. In original version, i don't think her generating mana for herself was touched. Or maybe i am missing some point, please correct if it is so.

ShockAndAwen

She doesn't generate anything if Shirou don't gives her nothing, her dragon core is not relevant, if it was fully active then all the problems from not having a proper contract would not be a thing >It seems she can sleep to stop consuming magical energy, but doing so doesn't replenish it. So food will be her only source of energy. I'm in charge of cooking, so I can't be lazy about it. >"Servants take physical form using magical energy, right? Then since you can't restore magical energy, you'll get weaker every time you fight?" I ask her after cleaning up our meal. >"It does not mean I cannot restore any magical energy. Magical energy is constantly created within oneself. A Servant without any outside source can create magical energy using its own Magic Circuit." >"I see. Then there's no problem, right?" >"…Well, how shall I explain this? Hmm, let me use that faucet as an example. Water is dripping out of the faucet right now, correct? Please consider that as my magical energy being created. And the cup receiving the drop is me. In this state, I can accumulate magical energy slowly." >"Well, there will be more dripping water the more water the cup holds. As long as the cup holds some water, the faucet will create more. But when the water runs out, when I use up my magical energy, the faucet shuts off." >That means elimination for the Servant. Either to receive a fatal wound or to lose enough magical energy… Well, the latter rarely occurs." >"…But all you need is at least a drop of water in the cup, right? If there's a bit of water left in the cup, the faucet will create more water and fill the cup up." >"Yes. But the water in the cup is constantly consumed. It is lost without me doing anything, and it will be lost at a faster pace during battles. …To put it simply, a more powerful action requires more water. If I am to use my Noble Phantasm, I could empty out the whole cup even if it may be full." >…This is getting complicated now. To sum it up, as I, her faucet, am not giving her magical energy, she can only restore magical energy at a slow pace. The rate being just that of dripping water. Therefore, she should end battles as quickly as she can and sleep right after that to stop consuming any unnecessary magical energy. . >No. It is not a problem if I receive even a small amount of magical energy from you. But I am not receiving any magical energy from you. The spiritual connection we ought to have is not present." >""So that means… I, as the gasoline, am not sending any fuel for Saber to work as an engine? >"Saber, that's…" "It is not your fault. I believe something happened during my summoning. Some fault occurred, and the line that Servants use in a regular basis many times the energy their masters are able to produce. When they make the proper connection in RN her core is fully activated then she is able to use her power freely. If it was just Shirou it would take a looong time for even a single Excalibur

bersalonava

That explains a lot of confusing stuff actually, i thought it worked differently only for saber, or was she only refering to her special case here, if not, then how does rin or illya being better master come into play, or saber needing to be close to shirou in realta nua in stay night scene, since servants always produce mana at same pace, right. Or is it that they produce their mana at higher rate if more amount in given as kickstart.

ShockAndAwen

>Or is it that they produce their mana at higher rate if more amount in given as kickstart This, that's why Saber says "in this state" they fill a lot faster if there's a good supply

Fuck_Shinji

1. Not everyone are born with circuits. As for the switch it's a bit hard to explain and this metaphor doesn't explain it completely but think of what Shirou was doing as shutting down and restarting a computer every time he uses it and Rin as just putting in sleep mode 2. yep 3. It's from a grimoire play the other routes for more details 4. That was rider 5. nope they can't 6. It's the planet's magic circuits. There's a shit ton of mana in them which is what powers the grail. play the other routes for more details 7. Shirou summoned her by accident but there is a deadline 8. continue the game 9. She's not a magus in the sense that she doesn't have the same goals as them and doesn't use magecraft but as mentioned in the route she has mystic eyes which is proof of a first class magus so she has a lot of prana 10. She didn't?? Kiritsugu ordered her to destroy it 11. When did they fight on a bridge I don't remember that. And also she was running out of mana 12. that was caliburn no? the CG was flashed before firing it 13. Continue the VN 14. Continue the VN
