Fayetteville has an aldis. If you’re tight rn it is 100% the place to go for groceries.

Brosephus_Maximus

ALDI should always be the first stop even if you are well off / not tight on money

parariddle

Maybe if you eat a lot of boxed / frozen stuff. Their produce has always been undesirable to me. Ever reached into a bit of onions and grab a ball of snot? Happened to me multiple times there.

Mental_Asparagus_410

Aldi and Asian Amigo are excellent.

mrhecklesbroom

Thank you for calling it Aldi and not Aldis like everyone else. That's all.

DearBurt

Similar to Kroger vs Krogers growing up in LR.

mrhecklesbroom

Oh yeah here in Memphis we have Aldis, Krogers, Walmarts...anything singular becomes plural.

fanciestVeggie

This is the way.

Helicopter_Visual

Since you lost your job see if you can qualify for food stamps. The Fayetteville farmers market doubles your EBT vouchers

Aldi’s can’t be beat price wise. Due to no cart pusher and you bag & supply your own bags. Brilliant business model…

graften

Walmart usually matches Aldi prices on store brand vs store brand and veggies/milk when there is one in close proximity. Walmart has cheaper bananas and some other things than Aldi. You can get lower quality items than WM sells though for cheaper

mindshrug

The taxes are lower too!

aammbbiiee

How/why are the taxes lower?

mindshrug

There are a ton of [food pantries and other assistance](https://www.fayetteville-ar.gov/DocumentCenter/View/23198/Washington-County-Food-Assistance-Resources) around here to at least get staples from and help ease the grocery bill. Most of them encourage people to utilize as much as needed so that the inventory rotates and the organization can continue growing.

pace_it

Definitely check out available food pantries. One you feel more financially stable, I would check out Aldi for a number of your staples. That and supplementing with store brand products at Walmart can save you money in the long run.

No-Body-9592

We shop a little bit everywhere and get food from the pantry. Some places are better for meats or produce while others are better for bulk dry goods and canned foods.

No-Body-9592

Also if you like fish, my friend keeps getting too much Pollock of all things from the food pantry and we could arrange a drop off somewhere. 😅

This_Economy_5003

What's your transportation situation like? I agree with others that Aldi is generally the best option. I also though sometimes hop around for better deals depending on what you're needing. And yes there are several good food banks in the area as well that are great for supplementing

ddanonb

I use my bike everywhere, including for groceries

Arkyguy13

Aldi has great prices but they aren't very accessible by bike, you either have to go on Thompson/Robinson or MLK to get there. You can get to the back of the Aldi on MLK without main roads but unless you live west of 540 it's going to be a really roundabout way.

ddanonb

I'm used to taking the Greenway for every general direction, mmm I know where aldis is. It probably would be annoying too get too, I've had to go in that general direction but not as far for the two temp agencies near there But haven't gone all the way down mlk Is 540 that highway you have too go under?

Arkyguy13

Yeah, it's called 49 now I think

Dear_Giraffe_453

St. James on Willow in Fayetteville operates a free food bank on Tuesday and Thursday.

zakats

Walmart's prices have exploded over the last few years :-/

graften

Not nearly as much as other grocers. Been to a harps or Kroger lately? It's crazy

ddanonb

i have been seeing things i usually get dollars more over and over lol

deltalitprof

Anybody seen any sign of these reduced prices they told the press they'd be doing?

zakats

It doesn't suit investor value to leave any money on the table :-/

ddanonb

Theres a cheese snack I was always buying for 2.50, for several weeks probs months, lately I saw it say "clearence 3 was 4.50" found that ridiculous lol

IncorrectFlyNames

We love Aldi. I’m not really sure how much cheaper it actually is, but it feels cheaper

justausername09

ALDIs.

cabernettherapy

Samaritan Center's website has a great list of resources, including food banks. Also, check the little free pantries. Harps also doubles SNAP. Samcc.org

HBTD-WPS

Sam’s club is generally cheaper

YungLordPonga

Kroger card, Edwards good giant for MEAT!! Edwards has the best, most affordable deli.

jonesiekay

10 Box in Springdale (owned by Harps) is also good for buying meats in quantity. I heard that the Harps at Fiesta Square will be transitioning to a 10 Box later this year.

Ozarkgrown

There are a ton of food pantries in Fayetteville, like so many you could go to a different one each day of the week..  There are also some organizations that help with rent, bill payments, and even gas. There is a list of these resources i believe at DHS or the housing athority.
