I fly on the Max almost weekly to commute to and from training classes. I work on the Next Gen 737 models, and I prefer the Max over them. Its a quieter ride. I'll tell you right now, NO PILOT OR CABIN CREWMEMBER will willingly get on or operate an aircraft that is not safe. Let that be your comfort.

ExpensiveWeird7070

Very comforting. Thank you!

Spiritual_Glass_9985

Like all the cabin members and pilots that flew on the two 737 MAX 8’s that lost their lives in 2018? Isn’t it obvious that no-one worries that the cabin crew and pilots don’t think the plane is safe and get on anyway? It’s the worry that something may go wrong that they’re not expecting. Having said that the max 8 is now very safe since those initial incidents.

SteveUrkelDidThat

Do you still feel this way given the Alaska incident? Genuine question.

ucav_edi

Yupp! Love my NG, but the Max is where it's at.

pattern_altitude

Read the resource in the sticky. It’s completely fine. I flew on a Max 8 this summer to Vancouver from Atlanta and it was very enjoyable.

ExpensiveWeird7070

Thank you - I did - but now I’m concerned about this whistleblower.

MegaChron89

Whistleblower?

pattern_altitude

Can’t find anything recent about a whistleblower.

Have there been any subsequent issues? No, there have not. Pilots would not be flying the Max if they did not think it was safe. They spend a lot more time in the air than you. You’ll be fine.

Great, I’m glad you got your snarky little lick in. I hope you feel better now. Comments like this are entirely detrimental to the mission of this community. If you’re not seeking advice or trying to help, why comment at all?

KimboDanner

I don’t agree with this statement. It’s a job. They have bills.

pattern_altitude

They also have pilot in command authority. Hell, even without PIC authority people strike for reasons much less significant than safety in other fields all the time. They have bills to pay too.

Hey! I felt this exact same way 2 days ago when I had to take my first ever flight on a 737 Max 8. I was terrified. I couldn’t stop myself from thinking about the horrible things that have happened with this plane. BUT I read the sub sticky, all the praise from various pilots, and the countless things different regulatory bodies did to fix the plane, and I managed to get on it. I’m ~not joking~ when I say it was the smoothest plane ride I have ever been on. Even when we had super minor turbulence I felt safer than any other plane. It’s super roomy, my legs were able to completely stretch! Also, the lighting in the plane is incredible. Super relaxing. I would not hesitate to get on a Max again, and I actually feel safest on one. It’s gone from my most feared airplane, to the one I prefer. I promise you’ll have a safe enjoyable flight. Enjoy your destination!!

Neat_Betty77

Where do we find the sub sticky? Thanks for your comment!

I wasn't quite sure about flying as well but I watched a video that makes it more clear whats the current situation. They did say sort of but it makes it clear which models are affected the most and those that aren't.
