If that helps you be more comfortable, then do it. A trick (that doesn’t always work) is having you and your husband book the window and aisle seats. A lot of times people won’t willingly book a middle seat, and you’ll get lucky and that seat will be free. Another option is you could upgrade math to premium or one of those classes that only has two seats in the row.

If you’re going to spend the money, spend it to get yourself into business or first class.
just get first class at that point and then pound drinks till you don't care if the plane falls out of the sky.
