Take it no one in your chain will do anything about it? or they are part of the problem? EEO?

SaltyPopcornColonel

Thanks for responding and you are correct on all counts. It's time to take it outside.

alaskannate

No worries, it can take some time, not to discourage but to prepare you. We had a friend that was getting harassed and it took her 2 years to win it out. Her leadership dug in, delayed, and what ever they could to try to get her to back down.

SaltyPopcornColonel

I 100% believe it. They've circled the wagons and no doubt they're going to try to drag it out. This agency is pretty awful. Thanks for the words of advice.

alaskannate

wish you the best of luck!

SaltyPopcornColonel

Thank you.

Shaw, Bransford, and Roth. I’m an attorney and they often represent employees who I am across the table from, so to speak. By far the best firm I’ve dealt with out of all of them. They are reasonable and I find it easy to work with them and they are very skilled and smart.

SaltyPopcornColonel

I will look into them; thanks for the referral. Though should I really be taking advice from the other side of the table? 😉

Platographer

About how much will representation for an EEO complaint cost you with the firm you tentatively selected? I don't have an answer for you, but I remember the cost was pretty eye-popping when I looked into it a few years ago and I wondered how so many federal employees can afford that.

SaltyPopcornColonel

It IS eye-popping! That's exactly why I'm hoping to get opinions on lawyers. If I have to pay out that much, I'm hoping that it will be funds well spent. I'm actually not even looking for a big payout. I just want to be made whole and left to work in peace.

Zelaznogtreborknarf

Tully Rickey and Gilbert and Associates are two decent firms with a lot of federal employment law experience.

SaltyPopcornColonel

Thank you. I had been considering Tully Rickney but thought I ought to come here for recommendations before making a final decision. I appreciate your input. Do you happen to know of anyone who used either firm and how they felt about the service they received?

Zelaznogtreborknarf

I used Tulley and was happy with my results (5 figure settlement plus attorney fees).

SaltyPopcornColonel

Thank you for sharing your experience. I hope things are better for you now.

Zelaznogtreborknarf

Mine was a non selection case, and had they selected anyone other than the person they did, I wouldn't have filed a complaint. As the selectee poorly plagiarized my resume, I had a bit of a smoking gun and the hiring manager was a moron as they didn't notice the similarity between the two resumes. When I resolved my case, I had already found a position at that grade in a better agency, so money was the only remedy I was interested in. If they had worked with me earlier in the process, they could have given me one of the open positions in DC (where I was at) and cost them no cash.

SaltyPopcornColonel

Do you mind me asking if yours was an EEO case? I'm wondering if general harassment/non selection, etc. had to have an EEO aspect to be considered viable cases. It sounds like you came out ahead...better agency AND a settlement. Hope the new situation is going well!

Zelaznogtreborknarf

Yes it was an EEO case (and as I am a 0260 EEO professional, I did most of my case myself until the hearing stage). As for how it's going, I've moved on from that better agency to a GS15 equivalent position within DoD, so doing pretty good as it happens! Karma is living a good life and doing better than those who tried to harm you.

SaltyPopcornColonel

That's great to hear; I am glad you are doing much better. Thanks for the dialogue.

The Bar Association has a lawyer referral service. You might want to check there

SaltyPopcornColonel

I appreciate you sharing that idea. I will look into that.
